  • It is $89 for the standard and $169 for the Platinum

    • thanks , updated OP

    • +1

It is $89 for the standard

      ~$50 :)

      • How?

        • check link -> nitrofill :)

  • $500 Insurance excess coverage for the platinum.

If I have comprehensive car insurance setup with an excess of $800 and in the event of an accident, does it mean I can claim $500 from Allianz and $300 to be paid from my pocket ?

    • That was my understanding, pretty sweet deal if that's the case

        • +5

They are also offering $100 off car tint at Tint-a-Car. Probably can be stacked with this month offer from Tint a Car: Get Octane Darkest Legal on your car and receive $100 off the total price of the tint! Offer expires 30/06/2016.

That makes it $200 off !

        • What is the full cost of something like this? Very interested

        • @Frost2468:

no info on website. i think you need to call or visit for a quote

        • +2

@Frost2468: From when we did it a couple of years ago, the approximate price will be around $500, but it can vary based on the model and also the tint quality. For example a ute has less windows so can be cheaper. You might shop around because each tint-a-car may give different quotes.

    • I can't find anywhere on the Allianz website that states that they will cover $500 of your excess. it looks like that is provided by 360Assist - has anyone dealt with 360Assist (Fixed Price Car Service)?

    • The only issue I can see here is that they pay $500 towards your excess "in the event of a police reported at fault collision".
So, if it is not a major accident and/or not reported to police, they can refuse to pay.

How do you think they would compare with NRMA's rural and regional coverage?

    • +9

I took this deal a few years ago and won't do it again. Their service is ok when it arrives, but they do not have the coverage and roadside 'vans' that NRMA do. We needed them three times and each time the wait was over 2 hours, then in one instance another 2 hour wait for their tow truck. We've never had that kind of wait with NRMA.

I should say there was never a problem with the roadside assistance staff when they arrived, I just think they don't have enough of them.

So it's a good deal as long as you are patient.

      • Were you within metropolitan area or rural at that time?

        • Sunshine Coast - not exactly the middle of nowhere.

I know what you are getting at, but same area with NRMA and we didn't have the long waits we had with Allianz.

    • Last year I needed them when broken down in Juno Parade, Greenacre.

The patrolman arrived way outside the time given to me by the operator and, he did not have a wrench.

Said that his wrench has broken the day before and he had not had time to fix it.

      • Did he take off after that?

        • he suggested I drive to the nearest garage and kept on going in the other direction

        • @Islund: Right. But what happened eventually? Could they help you get back on road at all?

    • my guess is probably not as good, but in metro areas, on par, from experience in melbourne compared with racv :)

    • I thought all these services would ultimately come back to being serviced by the RAA/ NRMA etc. After being stuck on the side of the road for 6 hrs with the RAA and ultimately fixing it myself I might consider this (though the 2003 disclaimer is a put off).

      • No, Allianz has their own roadside assistance business (used to be Mondial Assistance) so it's not serviced by the AAA clubs (which to my understanding is a loose umbrella organisation sitting on top of the state auto clubs, e.g. NRMA, RACQ, RACV etc.).

  • If I'm already a member and I purchase this it'll add another 12 months ?

    • You could let your membership expire (or cancel it) then sign up again

      • After buying the coupon, what determines the starting date?
Is it the date when I sign up with Allianz with the coupon code?

EDIT: I found out that "Redeem by: 07 Sep 2016"

        • I think the deal says that the cover starts straight after redumption. My allianz roadside assist expires in early August 2016 so I am happy for it to overlap for 1 month given the cheap price.

  • Ok sweet so it doesn't matter that I've been a member previously, same car rego?

    • +1

The deals fine print does not exclude previous or existing customers , so should be ok

  • Yes what are response times like in say metro Sydney and rural NSW compared to NRMA? Can you add key cover later on? Do they offer it?

    • compared with racv, on par in melbourne from experience, but i'm guessing probably not as good in rural areas

key cover - do you mean replacement keys or

      • Lost or locked keys

If you lose your keys or lock them in your vehicle, we will provide all reasonable assistance (subject to proof of ownership shown) to:

      • locate and deliver a spare key or
      • arrange for the driver to retrieve the spare key, if this is more practical; or
      • gain access to your vehicle (once a consent and indemnity form has been signed by you).

    • Last month i forget the hazard light on while i was in Star casino. I called them around 10-11AM and they were there within 45min, the only issue i had is having them understand that im inside the car park and i need someone to get inside the carpark to help as they kept waiting me outside(Maybe they dont want to pay Star expensive car park) i end up going to him outside and guide him to the carpark!

      • -4

If your spoken english is like your written english then I can understand the misunderstanding :)

        • Is it really hard to understand that someone is waiting in the casino car park? The guy kept waiting in the street instead of getting in the carpark while i clearly mentioned to him that im in the underground parking.

      • This is standard with all roadside assistance and large car parks (shopping centers, casino etc), they don't want to get there and have to drive up and down every aisle to find you (especially with you likely sitting inside the car waiting) so they either meet you at a designated point or at the entry to the car park and you guide them to your car.
They wouldn't have to pay for parking at the star as they're just going in to jump start your car, and would just need to buzz an operator to have them open the gate for them on the way out.

        • I cant complain about it as i got the roadside assistance for free with kmart logbook servicing.

  • Can anyone confirm if you can join if you are 21 years old? On the redemption page there is a checkbox that says "I am over 21 and hold a full licence"

  • dammit! 3 months too late for this deal to pop up!
I signed up this March ><…

    • I renewed with RACQ 3 days ago…so close

      • my free allianz roadside ended in march and i only renewed with racv in april because i needed help :(

      • 21 days cooling off period?

  • +2

ive always had good luck with racq/nrma in the past. seems to be mixed reviews on everything when i look, including allianz. is this worth it?

  • +2

Also double cashback from Cashrewards at the moment (16% instead of 8%).

    • i think it's only 8%

      • +1

Oops I thought double cashback was 8% x 2…. my bad

  • +1

Only had to use my Allianz Roadside Assistance once (comes complementary with Comprehensive Insurance) and they were pretty good. Was in a secure airport carpark and they got in and to my car within 20-30 minutes or so. Driver was helpful, knowledgeable, professional.

    • +11

      Driver was helpful, knowledgeable, professional

must have been an ozbargainer then

  • "Members can also obtain services at preferential price for Club Members from time to time, currently available directly from:
    (i) Allianz Global Assistance - Roadside Assistance…"

"at preferential price" ? I thought roadside assistance is already included in the $39 & $69 offer

  • Just in time after car purchase!!

    • 2nd hand car? Most new cars come with free manufacturer provided roadside assist (usually outsourced to NRMA/RAA or the likes).

      • Second hand mate!

      • Surely ozbargainers only buy second hand cars unless they could find a half priced brand new one…?

  • +2

Worth noting if you get your car service through Kmart Tyre and Auto (big if for some people ;)) you receive 6 months free roadside assistance through allianz.

  • referral link seems like not working?

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhhh

  • +1

$500 breakdown cover is a joke if you read T&Cs. Overall value us good though.

    • +1

Could not agree more. For anyone else refer to section 3 of this: https://www.fixedpricecarservice.com.au/product/360assist/te…
I.e. you have to had it serviced in the past 30 days, but only at one of their approved repairers, and the car has to breakdown (not an accident), and you have to get it towed, and it has to be towed to another one of their approved repairers, and that approved repairer has to be able to fix it.

Also the $500 at-fault excess cover has some potentially weird provisions too: https://www.fixedpricecarservice.com.au/documents/roadreward…
To be covered you need to either a "Dealer invoice" or a "Membership Certificate", which is "as supplied by Your Motor Dealer when Your vehicle has been serviced, repaired or purchased". So how that coverage applies when you buy online, rather than from a dealership (either as a new car, serviced car, or repaired car), is not something that I understand. Also you must file a police report with 48 hours of the at-fault accident - and I imagine a lot of people forget to do that until they realize too late that they needed to do it to be covered.

      • The at-fault requirements aren't too bad, police filing of a report is not hard to do and you just click some buttons online

        • The AtFault $500 excess is provided Not by Fixed Price even — it is by another company code Road rewards and i have called them up to clarify… they are yet to ring back…

will update…when i receive the call.

        • @catchganu:

Phoned again and understood that RoadRewards ( 1300 133 703 ) provides this complementary cover…

          1) Works even when you purchase online - u just need to keep the receipt or invoice…

          2) Only for At Fault

          3) Police complaint is a must within 48 hrs

          Hope this helps.

  • New to Groupon, how do you use the WELCOME deal as it just goes straight to payment without an option to enter anywhere.

  • Can someone explain to me how this works? I'm a moron.

I'm assuming this is basically just insurance and it doesn't cost anything if you get a flat tyre, battery etc but the $500 excess is if you crash the car or something?

    • If you crash, they pay you $500 towards your excess. Not sure the T&C though

      • It says at fault police-reported accident, so even if it's a minor one, get a police report done.

        • I thought the police will only attend the scene if it involves injury.

        • @uggugg:
You can usually report things like that at a police station afterwards. Just need to do it within 48 hours of the accident to satisfy that condition.

        • @Miss B: Even easier, report it via the police assistance line over the phone and get a report number (can likely also report it online, haven't had to fortunately).

  • Legend! Road side assist for $32.76 ain't too shabby!!

    • Welcome. How did you get it for $32.76

    • My cashback statement said expected reward $3.12.

I think the double cashback IS 8%, not two times 8

      • same with me

    • What if it's for shabby roadside assist?

      • It's not.

  • +1

    Thank you.
Good timing for a trip to the snow.
Plus we need four new tyres. Wonder if their $100 participants are all $100 more expensive than the usual.

    • +1

Road Runner is the partner, so its probably more like $500 more expensive

      • :(

They used the plural so I thought they might have a few to choose from

  • Use code YOURGIFT to get 10% off

  • Any mention of an age limit on the vehicle?

I thought there was a 2003 age limit mentioned on the previous posted deal but not found anything in the terms and conditions for this one.

    • Yes there was a limit when I signed up. I think it was around 2003.

      • Any link to were it states the age limit?

Had a skim over the t&c's but couldnt find that. BTW my beast is 1999 year

    • +1

Last time I don't think they put it in the T&Cs and people found out later. Some were still able to use it with an older vehicle, I think it depended on who they spoke to. Also, it was 2013, so it may have been a 10-year old vehicle rule.

There's a bit of a discussion on the old deal here.

  • "Opt for additional excess cover to help ease the financial worry if you’re involved in a police-reported accident in which you are at fault"

So you have to report it to the police and say you are at fault? Then wouldn't you be admitting fault, and you'd be going against your main insurance policy terms?

    • I thought we need to report it to the police if we have to claim from the comprehensive cover ?
pls correct me if am wrong.

      • Police reports are never necessary for any insurance claims, it's usually when the drivers involved are in disagreement (other driver not giving you basic info) or the crash is serious enough that you need traffic control.

Anyway my point is you have to have to do a "police-reported accident in which you are at fault" but the thing is insurance companies don't want you to admit "you are at fault" even if it was damn obvious you are at fault.

        • I think you can just report it to the police, without saying who is at fault. Last time I filled in one of those forms with NSW police, you had to say when the accident happened, where it happened, which parts of the vehicles collided, give your name, address, license, rego, phone number, and the other driver's name, address, rego, license and phone number, and then you have to describe in words the facts of what happened. I don't recall anywhere on the form where you had to say who was at fault - it's usually obvious from the road rules and details given, but you don't explicitly state it on the form. However this was over 10 years ago, so maybe they've changed the form.

        • @nickj:

There's no problem giving a police report, and perhaps the line in the ad is just phrased badly. But if true, it's not very helpful.

        • @plmko: Yeah I think it's just badly phrased. I.e. you have an accident, call your insurer that day, them what happened. Then if they determine that you at fault (i.e. need to pay an excess), then go report it to police that day or the next day, and then claim $500 off the excess through the excess cover. I think that's what they're saying. Basically it's like insurance for your insurance … what a time to be alive!

  • +1

After purchase, you have 3 months to redeem, so you don't have to overlap your existing roadside assist membership until September.

  • most people will side with the platinum cover?
