Love these watches. I wonder how many of these Casio would sell if they stuck a cheapo pedometer in these things…..

    • +29

I used to beg my dad to buy me one of these… He didn't… He also didn't buy me the one with calculator, he said it makes me dumb.
He got me one with no brand though, not waterproof, it died on a rainy day.

Now I got a nice Fitbit… Adulthood is much better.

  • Got the gold one?

    • I purchased one off fleabay, sadly it was fake, did not show "casio" when you pushed all the buttons in [refer google] and also the gold faded badly.

      :-(

You're not wrong, 28Degrees is the ultimate watch connoisseur!

Doesn't look as nerdy??? That defeats the purpose! Lolll

Thanks a lot 28. Been looking for one of these…Godsend:)

I don't think the F108 is 100m water resistant. Amazon might have the specs wrong. The W800 is 100m water resistant. I recommend the W800. I owned one before I lost it, and I have ordered another.

    • +1

      I have the DW5600. It's a great watch.

    • Got the dw5600e. Thanks Ops

Where the hell can I buy a sexy blue F108WH ???? I can't find one on amazon that will ship to Australia, and I can't find one in Australia that isn't stupidly priced (like $100).

      Leeloo says "Pluh-uh-ays h-h-halp"

      • +1

The cheapest I cand find the Casio F-108WH-2AEF is $39.09 delivered on ebay.
Which is a bit overpriced in my books, for not much more you could get a Casio Solar 100m AQ-S810W-2A2VDF $43.32 delivered.
Here is a blue AQ-S810WC-3A for $50.00. That's a hell of a lot more watch for an extra $10.00.

        • Thanks for replying :-) I agree it's overpriced, I'd pay maybe $20 but beyond that it loses it's lustre. It's been a long time since I wore watches so I'm operating on a bit of a whim here, meaning at this stage I'm not looking to go upwards in price from the cheapies.

Those others you listed do look very nice, but at this stage I'm after something cheap, digital, resin, casio-retro octagonal-faced style and preferably 50m or 100m water resistant. So I'll instead look at some other sub-$20 options. I'm considering the Skmei 1134 which I think you recommended elsewhere and I think looks pretty nice, but whatever I get will be going in the pool with me a lot in summer. For a $10 watch I'm willing to risk it unless it's a dead certainty that it will succumb to the water. [EDIT: Just watched a couple of youtube reviews, holy crap it's chunky so I might give that one a miss.]

I think I might also pick up an F91W, cheap as chips and everyone loves them. Also I understand they're very light and comfortable, which might help me overcome my hatred of the feeling of having a watch on my wrist. And they are retro which is great for the nostalgia value, but my childhood memories looked just a little more like the G-shock style (but still cheap, and not too chunky), which was why I liked the F108WH. And the blue looked cool.

        • +1

@3 Hyenas: The Skmei 1134 is awesome for just under $10.00 and if you like that style then it's a no brainer but I don't think it would handle the water. I may be wrong but I like mine too much to risk it.

        • @28Degrees: Fair enough :-) I think the chunkiness is putting me off it anyway. I've hated wearing watches for years now. I'm only just now interested in them again. I'll look around a little more and try to be patient. (Lol just kidding on the patience, I won't be able to hold back much longer, I'll be buying something pretty soon)

        • +1

@3 Hyenas: There is a smaller version in blue as well, the Skmei 6918 $8.44 delivered.

        • +1

@28Degrees: LOL, those are awesome :-) "EXTREMENESS" I can't go past that.

        • +1
        • @28Degrees: I couldn't help myself, I already ordered one from Everbuying yesterday, as well as a Skmei 1019 in sexy sexy blue.

The day before that I bought 3 other cheapies from Aliexpress (one of which being the 6918 you pointed out, cheers!)

This time last week I didn't even want a watch. Now I've ordered 5 cheapies, am constantly wearing my old one to get myself used to them again, and just cannot get my mind off watches. I think I might be a little weird, but I'm not sure. What do you think?

        • +1

My thought process just a moment ago:

Has it really only been a week? What's the date today? Where can I look for the date? Ah yes, corner of computer screen NO WAIT!!! MY WATCH!!! HAHA!! I CAN MERELY TURN MY WRIST AND LOOK IN THE SAME PLACE EACH TIME AND INSTANTLY I HAVE ACCESS TO A WEALTH OF VITAL INFORMATION INCLUDING NOT ONLY THE CURRENT TIME, BUT ALSO THE CURRENT DATE AAAAAAND THE DAY OF THE WEEK!!! MUAHAHAHAHA THE POWER!!!! I'VE NEVER FELT SO ALIIIIIIIIIIVE!!!!

It's been a while since I wore watches regularly.

        • +1

@3 Hyenas: Haha don't worry the same thing happened to me about a year ago. Before that I hadn't worn one for over 15 years. It's very strange.

        • @28Degrees: So what will my situation look like in a year's time, future-me?

        • +1

@3 Hyenas: Your problem sounds a bit worse than mine if you have ordered 5 already without even getting one delivered, but at least they are cheapies.
Maybe pace yourself now and save for something nice that you will keep for a long time.

        • +1

@28Degrees: It's only 4 really because the first lot includes one of those $2 silicon wristband style press-the-screen-to-see-the-time things, you wouldn't really call it a watch. So only 4 watches really.

There's also a Synoke that's supposed to be WR 30m, so that'll die the second I jump in the pool. Which I will. So that one doesn't really count either. Down to 3 now.

Then there's the bright blue one. Can I really pull that off? Am I a bright-blue-watch kind of person? So, 2.

Then there's the Skmei 6918 you pointed out to me. It might be a little on the small side, and I wisely went with the purple coloured one. That may potentially turn out to be a gift for my little girl. So we're down to 1 here.

1 watch. Only 1. What if it fails? Am I willing to take that risk? How would I know the time and date and day of the week? I'd be walking around confused, in a daze.

That settles it. I can't afford NOT to buy more watches. Thanks for your advice, you're a life saver.

I feel like it's the week of headphones and Casio watches. What's in store around the corner?

    • +2

First it was the eneloops , then microsd fever lol

      • I forgot the hard drives!

  • For the Resin Strap:

This item does not ship to Gold Coast, Australia

    • +8

      Gold Coast

Don't you want something like a Rolex to wander backwards and forwards down Tedder Avenue with? ;)

      • Tedder,? I thoght it was Cavill Av.

        • Cavill Av is the touristy part - goes east-west down to the beach.

Tedder Av is the seedy north-south part leading off Cavill Av that has all the "gentleman's" clubs.

        • @qwijibo: Actually, Tedder Avenue is in Main Beach, about 3km north of Surfers, and is where all the hipsters love to be. You might be thinking of Orchid Avenue in Surfers re: seedy, so-called gentlemen's clubs, etc.

        • @PinzVidz: Yep, you're right - I should have looked at a map :-/

      • Sounds like Sanctuary Cove material.

  • They're getting cheaper! For this one:

You can't go past the Casio Men's CA53W Calculator Watch

    • +2

Wow that is mind blowing technology but unfortunately it doesn't ship to Aus.

      • +3

I remember owning the casio data bank watch

        • really loved that watch, first watch I bought as a kid and it wasnt cheap.

      • Aussie ebay sellers of the calculator watch, more expensive though

    • I used to have one of those as a kid - I was king of the nerds … at least until those a-holes with their HP calculators came along.

Nowadays, they're retro-nerd-cool, since that Breaking Bad guy wore one.

I have F91W, i looks a bit small and one of its button stopped working after a shower. It's still a great functional watch though. I personally like my W96-H, it is of perfect size for adult male hands, hands good quality material and big display, all the best functions from F91W and a few more.

I would say just get W96-H, its better value overall.

    https://www.amazon.com/Casio-Alarm-Chronograph-Digital-W96H-…

    • W96H looks good, less geek more sporty!

How good are these for swimming? I want a reliable watch for swim/Beach/sand and some. Sports etc. My fitbit couldn't take water :(

      • I haven't tried swimming with it after the problem I had with the previous watch.

        • Nw, ordered, Cheers

      • +1

I deep swim with the F91W, it simply wont die, no foggy screen, nothing, really well sealed, wont die

Far too much watch for the coin, no need for a uber-expensive G-Shock

  • +4

At the risk of sounding like some of the whingers on here… how is this classified as a deal?
I picked a watch from the op and camel camel camel shows that the price hasn't changed in months (apart from a short period when it was cheaper)
    http://camelcamelcamel.com/Casio-A158W-1-Stainless-Steel-Dig…

Checked a couple of the expensive ones and none are really deals

    • i rememeber these watches, haha, brings back old school memories. You're showing your age!

    • +9

It's only recently that a lot of these are now able to ship here, so checking Camel for past prices is pointless if you live down under.
If you can find them cheaper elsewhere today, feel free to post.

    • Also, after factoring in inflation, these have been going cheaper each year!

  • +3

I love the diagram showing it on a wrist, in case someone didn't understand its purpose.

    • +3

I'm pretty sure that's to display the size

      • +2

Because all arms are the same size?

Pretty sure my gorilla of a friends arm is bigger than my leg… How do we know if the arm image isn't of his or my one year old son?

    • +2

That's not why they included that image. It's to model the watch on a person so someone can get an idea of what it looks like on a wrist and the size of it. In other words, for fashion's sake. :)

A hot guy holding an item is probably going to get more buyers. Just like how a hot babe holding a perfume bottle is likely to attract the dudes too.

      • +2

If that's the case, you think other objects should come with similar images, condoms for example?

        • +1

No. That would violate advertising rules and regulations.

        • @niner:

Cannot advertise a prophylactic sheath covering a prosthetic appendage? What has this world come to?

        • Come again?

        • @FabMan:

Most people know what a watch is for and how to wear it. Same goes for a condom

        • @Ninjastud:

          Not often.

    • +3

Well, I wish I'd seen that diagram earlier. I've been wearing my watches …er…'elsewhere', and let's just say looking at the time has been very embarrassing.

      • "Can't see the time, think happy thoughts."

  • +2

Back in the 80's if you wore one of these you were ballin'

    • wearing one of these 2016 and still feel like im balling :)))

  • +4

Fyi the steel/metal band will slowly remove all the hair on your wrist via pinching it out.

    • +8

nice, free waxing to maximize bargain value

  • +2

Casio Royale is also a nice one to look at

    • Thanks, added to OP

      • +4

In case people are wondering, the AE 1200 WH is the "Casio Royale".

        http://forums.watchuseek.com/f71/digital-appreciation-bond-c…

I bought my Stainless Steel edition a long while back, then removed that cheesy watch band for a NATO strap.
It goes great with my Brown Leather strap, and my Military Green strap (with compass).

It's basically a G-Shock but square, much more ergonomic, easier to read, longer battery life.
I prefer it to the G-Shock, and its my daily beater.
I'm wearing it right now, it really is cool but functional, and I get compliments for it.

        • +1

Bugga, I wish I had known that before I bought the Omega Seamaster!

        • +1

          @Ninjastud:
          You can still have both.
Best part about the Casio is that its very accurate, and battery is guaranteed to last 10 years.

Another thing about this particular model, is that its a retro redesign.
So its the current tech, but looks ye olde classic.
And it also looks like the watch Snake wears in Metal Gear Solid V:
          https://i.ytimg.com/vi/gtgNUFSoHv8/maxresdefault.jpg

  • Love these classic retro casio watches. Only thing is the resin straps usually need replacing long before the watch does.

Currently own the Casio W800H. (Ships to Australia). Surprised how many functions they can pack into these. Claims 10 year battery life. Never had to replace the battery in all the years I've owned it.

    • Cheers updated post

    • Thanks! One in wouldn't let me buy!

  • These are so cool. I wish I didn't hate wearing watches.

  • +1

These are known as the terrorist's watch
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casio_F-91W

    • +2

Yep… was going to ask if this purchase automatically adds you to a watch list of another kind.

    • That's correct. The Guantanamo version comes in orange.

  • +2

A warning to anyone buying "stainless steel" watches made by Casio:
    - the band is made of stainless steel
    - the back of the watch is made of stainless steel
    - the body of the watch IS NOT stainless steel, it's metal-plated plastic. If you dig through the reviews on Amazon, at least one review will point this out, and some even criticize Amazon for being misleading.

I gave up looking at Casio watches after I found out that NONE of them have a metal case.
