WTF where are the Android fanboy post?

    • +1

Let me try. $514 for a phone with 4 inch display? Also, the phone is too old, it has a headphone jack and a physical home button. Apple fanboys / fangirls, you should buy iPhone 7 plus with 256GB. Time to show your loyalty to Apple. Forget about iPhone SE. Prove all the Android fanboys / fangirls wrong, iPhone 7 / 7 plus will break all the sales record.

My 3+ years old Android phone has a WAY BETTER screen and more storage space than this iPhone SE. I can also send e-mails with file attachments easily (no upload to cloud then send rubbish).

      • +8

4 inch display is a feature for those of us that don't want to carry a big ass phone around all day. My phone is in my pocket 99% of the time so small size is a priority for me. You are free to choose your phone, based on your own priorities.

        • +2

Chill, guys. It was a joke. I own an iPhone SE. Even as an owner of that phone, I am happy to joke about it.
I have iOS devices and Android devices. I don't see any issue teasing iOS and/or Android devices.

None of them is perfect, otherwise there will be zero point buying a new phone. As an owner of that phone, I should be able to say bad things about it. The phone might fit in the pocket, but the screen is too small. The price makes it somewhat attractive, but it is dated and there are bits where Apple held back (i.e. the phone could have been better still).

    • You're first in line, what's your preference?

    • +1

I just post an Android phone deal, checks it out. 😊

  • Do these Kogan phones have Aussie power adapters?

    • +5

No, you get a HK adapter with the iPhone. Kogan will provide a "Kogan" quality (and Kogan brand) universal plug adapter - i.e. one of the AU plug pins might be slightly bent.

Jokes aside, the saving hopefully is more than enough to buy an Apple 12W power adapter.

      • what about the ones from Dickies?

        • +1

Dick Smith is owned by Kogan now, so probably the same.

  • Correct me if I am wrong, but the iPhone SE has the same spec as the 6s?

    • +4

you are correct. same A9 processor, same amount of RAM, and the same camera. only major differences are the form factor, battery, no force touch, and screen size. at least that's what comes to mind.

      • +1

the front camera is different :)

        • +1

also that lol. overall it's a great phone.

      • No OIS

      • Contrast Ratio is different also
        SE = 804
        6s = 1481

    • I just traded my iPhone 6s and went to a iPhone SE with the Apple $749 deal yesterday.
Missed the form factor and never liked the size of the 6s…

I went with the local stock for the Band 28 support.

  • Correct me if I am wrong, but the iPhone SE has the same spec as the 6s?

    • +1

No, the CPU and the back camera are the same.

      Differences:
      - Fingerprint sensor is first gen (rather than second gen in 6S).
      - Screen (well, there is no comparison there).
      - Front camera is still old - 5S one from memory.
      - No force touch / 3D touch

6S get both storage increase and price drop (either already effective now or will be effective soon) due to iPhone 7. SE, I think there is some price drop.. but no storage increase.

  • the checkout code also works with the other iPhone SE's not listed in the post

  • -5

Still a pretty horrendous rip off unless you simply can't live without ios…

    • +2

State alternative or your comment is pointless.

  • Omg guys!! It has a headphone jack!!! Quick buy now!

    • +1

demise of the 3.5mm head phone jack was just a matter of time and who had enough guts to do it. ….. as they try to make phones thinner why have 2 connectors , power and headphone, when you can do that function with only one……

      • +1

Yeah. I am old enough to remember the grief, wailing and nashing of teeth when the first iMac went USB only. It was the same lot of fun ( well, not as many on the intertubes then) , then everyone got bored with the peanut gallery and bought iMacs.
I plan to wait another year for an iPhone upgrade, and I am pretty sure I won't notice the absence of a audio port and just plug the earphones in the Lightning port.

  • +7

Be aware, these models don't support LTE Band 28, so they won't work on the vast majority of the Telstra and Optus 4G LTE network foot print.

If you're on Vodafone, it will work fine (however keep in mind Vodafone are potentially getting Band 28 spectrum soon).

The ones sold in the Apple store here do have Band 28, and have recently dropped in price.

    • +1

Just checked the eBay listing and you are right!
I consider this VERY important for a high end device such as this and really makes buying the overseas model MUCH LESS ATTRACTIVE.
      Thanks for the heads up!!

Ps. Anyone able to comment on what the real world absence of LTE band 28 700 MHz be on coverage on LTE speed on Telstra and Optus?

      • Yes I think the lack of LTE Band 28 should should be made clearer in the title of this deal, makes it much less attractive.

      • +3

So Optus and Telstra are building Band 28 out over their entire network foot print as it is their designated low band spectrum for LTE.

The difference will be that you will likley only be able to pick up 4G LTE on around 50% of their network compared to ~90% and growing on both networks.

Also indoors you are likely to fall back to 3G as the higher frequency spectrum can't make it through walls and what not as easily.

tl;dr: don't buy from Kogan if you're looking to have maximum LTE coverage on either Telstra or Optus.

  • +7

My previous iphone 4s and 6 brought from kogan doesn't support most of the 4G and 3G network when I was travelling in China. So the answer is clear, do not buy iphone from Kogan. Although it is shipped from Hongkong but they are not sold by Apple HK. Their iphone in so called international model which could be from anywhere in the world. My iphone 6 is actually an AT&T model WTF!

    • It's a fantastic phone - first iPhone I've ever bought, I certainly would never go back to Samsung. They relentlessly try and imitate Apple.

  • Do not buy! The version sold by Kogan doesn't support the 4G band offered by Telstra and Optus: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks#Oceania

If you want the phone, buy a local version.

  • +1

    HAHAHAHAHHAHA K/Bogan iPhone doesn't support 4G here.

  • +1

No LTE 700 for over $600, along with headaches for dealing with kogan

  • If I purchase it from Dick Smith via ebay, do they send me receipt/tax invoice with GST on it?

  • When will this great deal end?

  • +1

So after arguing with Kogan in regards to getting a refund… the iPhone SE Silver 64GB arrived today… and it's Model A1723 that does support Band 28… ended up being a decent deal after all.

    • That good to know. How are you finding the phone reception? Working fine? Also do you receive a tax invoice? Thinking of claiming TRS since I'm going overseas soon

      • The phone is working perfectly. No issues with 4G at all. It did not come with a tax invoice.

        • Cheers for the info. I just purchase iphone se silver 64gb from Kogan for $569.60 =)

  • +1

    Where does $458 come into play - 16GB SE @ $571.99 - 15% = $486 - the cashrewards return doesnt change it by $30+

    Anyone help me out here?

    • Sorry, it's a typo. Corrected.

      • +1

no dramas - just didnt want to miss out on some method i hadnt considered. Cheers for the post, going to be buying one for the old man who wants to upgrade from the iPhone 4

  • Did anyone that ordered from Dick Smith iphone SE 64gb received theirs yet? My sister bought one on 12th Sept from DS because it had a better ETA than Kogan for her husbands birthday this weekend, ETA was latest 22nd September. She hasnt even received the shipping notification yet and now theres an even cheaper sale.. wondering if this can be grounds for cancellation.
