Paid fast shipping after 10days Still Not receiving the band, Just saying :(

    • +3

Re: Mi Band - If you're not willing to wait, better to get from geardo for 2-3 day delivery. 15 dollars more though.

    • +2

      What's your order number?

    • Same paid for DHL shipping, got some odd email 2 days later about verifying my delivery address by supplying a utility bill with the address and my name on it (which is my work address, so not going to happen). So now I have paid for something I am not even sure I will get.

      • Update: sent a message to support got it sorted, they sent it Friday and it arrived today.

  • +3

Fk the mi pad is crazy tempting but major issue is it never make out of KK. They know. Thats why its cheap.

    • Yeah I was just checking that. Guess the only option is cynogenmod

      • +3

No theres no daily usable cm beyond kk. Anything higher custom is buggy as hell Simply put, seriously shame for such powerhouse even today.

        • What exactly would need a more recent ROM for? Pretty much all compatible apps would still install nad work on this right?

        • @chyawala: there's software out that requires Lollipop and newer though.. :(

        • So not worth the purchase?

Think this will be fixed anytime soon?

        • @htrans:

Think this will be fixed anytime soon?

Lol, no. It's stuck on KitKat forever. Also Xiaomi never release the source code, so custom roms are extremely rare.

        • @PainToad: I wonder if that's because the Chinese mafia/govt have their backdoors and data theft code in there?

        • @Jackson:

More likely it's because they get nothing out of it (except complying with open source licences, but no one in China is going to force compliancy anyway).

    • +1

KK? At this price, I want one to replace my 3 yr old Chromebook C720.

      • Comparison here abit like putting windows xp on a newly built pc and you have no way to upgrade it.

      • -1

        Krispy Kreme

      • (K)it Kat. Successor was (L)ollipop, then (M)arshmallow, new release is (N)ougat.

  • I can't seem to use my GB points for the Mi Band 2. Anyone else have this problem?

  • -3

Does Ip7 plus 256g have band 28? ordered from Optus

  • Can anyone comment on the usability of an 8" tablet over a desktop Pc for daily driving of email, Web browsing, basic word processing (with a keyboard obviously) and basic spreadsheets? I haven't investigated this in a few years, but I see a heap of people with 8" tablets now (iPads mainly), although I don't know if they go home and just jump on the PC

  • Why does it say on back order for mi band 2? Does that mean it will not be delivered before Xmas?

    • They have enough stock and definitely will be delivered before Xmas.

  • Would this be a good tablet for children?

It doesnt really matter if it will be stuck in Kit Kat right because kids dont care…?

Does anyone have this? would do you think of the xiaomi mipad. Thanks :)

    • +1

This would be overkill for small children, however for bigger children who play sophisticated games it would be ideal for as long as kit Kate is still being supported by the latest games, tbh I don't know as I don't really play

    • +1

This is an awesome tablet - fast, powerful, well built + extra storage + very good battery life.

I'm running MIUI Global 7.5.2.0 with Kitkat 4.4.4 inside, so far no compatibility issues whatsoever.

      Can't recommend highly enough.

  • Paid. 25 days still not receiving the band. Buy only if you can wait longer…

    • Can you send your order number.

Problem with Gearbest is the product the never arrives

    • It will definitely arrive. 100% guarantee or money back.

    • Hi Doctorwastson,

If you cant receive order within 45business days after shipping, pls contact me for refund.

      • +2

Why We should wait till 45 business day to get product? We pay money to use product and not to get money refund after waiting 45 days.

  • +1

As much as I am tempted by Mi Band 2, I don't think ordering Gearbest is the best idea - No offense to you monty.melb; you really are one of the best contributors to this website. However, it is hard to ignore that they have been one of the most controversial online retailer in OzB history…

    • +1

Please trust me they have improved a lot. Yes you are right they had issues last year. Now there is 0 tolerance if you not received your order within promised time frame.

    • +1

      Hi CheapCoffee,

We are sincerely apologize to you for any inconvenience that we have ever brought to you.

      Kind regards,

      Sunny

    • i'm in the same boat, held off from ordering note 3 pro and this mi band…

OP can I get free express shipping if I order both with code?

      • Now you are just asking for something for nothing

  • +2

Still waiting on my VR headset:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/202439

    • Hi neilpatrickharris,

Could you pls pm me your order number for checking?

      Sunny

      • I've PM'd the order number. Just as an FYI, I had followed up numerous times after not receiving this and had no response. From that "deal" onwards, I've never used gearbest again.

    • Many people did not get their VR, I am one of them. Just raised support ticket and they are happy to refund with out questions asked. As we opt for free shipping, we have to expect it. If you want a quick n secure shipping you have to shell out some money.

      • Unfortunately I didn't have a similar experience. I had raised a support ticket and tried contacting multiple times. No response whatsoever. I opt for free shipping from banggood as well, yet I've received everything I've ordered from them. I'm sure that's the same case with others.

  • It is $38.09 for me…

    • did you use the code?

      • Yes, used the code, but when I did the registration process for new customers, it seemed to re-set everything (including currency).

But I got there in the end.. now to see how long it takes!

  • Note that the Mi5 only supports some of the 4G bands used in Australia, especially for Telstra. Not so much of an issue right now, but after the 2G network is shut down and those cells are upgraded to 4G it will lock you out of a pretty solid portion of the network.

Waiting for the new MI Box to become available here. Costs $69USD.

  • The Mi Pad says it has Android 5.1 here

    http://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_268666.html?

    • This is Mi Pad 2 and deal is for Mi Pad.

  • Is express shipping (DHL etc) an option?

What's the handling Time? "within 45business days after shipping" So what's the actually delay BEFORR shipping? From my experience that's the biggest problem with buying from Chinese sellers.

Edit: I see there's "Expedited Shipping" for $5.78, with 3 - 7 business days. Is this also "guaranteed"? Refunded if not received in 7 days?

  • So i have ordered a Mi Band 2 and have an email from gearbest saying item has shipped already, it has a shipping number, I am wondering if this is correct in view of the above comments about slow shipping.

    • I was just about to say the same thing! I ordered the Mi Band 2 last night and got an email to say it has been shipped this morning. Strange because there was a note saying it was back ordered. We'll just have to wait and see

    • shipping number

Does it actually work? Marking things as shipped with fake tracking numbers, then days/weeks later switching over to a real one, is common practice with Chinese sellers.

  • Hi Monty,
Are you able to work something out for the MiPad 2 64Gb?
It's almost $40 cheaper at banggood at the moment (20% off) but gearbest have faster shipping offers (I'm on a tight time frame).
I've tried the price-match feature on the site a few days ago but no reply, cant really afford to wait around forever - I'd just end up going with banggood if no reply soon.
Feel free to PM me, I tried to contact you but I'm a new user (long time lurker) so it wont let me yet.
Thanks for your time and any help you might be able to provide.

EDIT: Oh I also don't really care about android / windows version as I'll be re-flashing it myself to make it dual boot regardless.

    • Just wondering how you get 20% off ?

      • +1

in the description of the product there's a coupon code - 6e088f

    • just becareful of the reflashing yourself, research thoroughly before hand because the DIY dual boot involves very high risk

      • Yeah I have looked into it a fair bit, there are now a few packages that are meant to simplify the whole process for you, from what I read its a very high success rate with these. Cheers for the heads-up though.

    • Also, what does everyone else think about the MiPad 2 vs MiPad original? It's quite a price jump and the performance difference looks almost negligible as the MiPad 2 Antutu scores are for v6 which upscales the score alot, when the MiPad2 runs Antutu 5 it scores around 50k, the same as MiPad original. Would being stuck in kitkat really be that much of an issue for general tablet use (web browsing / movies / light android gaming)? Assuming one doesn't really need to have windows on it and you put it in a case so the aluminum housing isn't all that important.

      • Eventually apps will start dropping support for KitKat as developers get sick of not having access to modern APIs.

        • Yeah fair enough, but if it's only an app here or there it shouldn't be too big of an issue. How long do you think until it'd be the norm to drop support though? I know it'd just be speculation but last I checked there's still support for 4.0 (ice cream sandwich I think? Who the hell comes up with these names…?) on most apps which is 2 years older than 4.4 - if I'm not mistaken. So, kitkat should still go strong for another year or two.

        • +1

          @Diiipaty:

I'd say 6-12months before it becomes a minor issue and 12-18months before it becomes extremely limiting.

          Compare September 2015 to 2016:
          http://www.droid-life.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/android…

          https://chart.googleapis.com/chart?chl=Froyo%7CGingerbread%7…

Versions before 5.0 (the BIG jump for the APIs due to Material Design functionality) are dropping quite fast.

        • @PainToad: Fair enough, that'd be why I'm waiting to see what @monty.melb can do for the Xiaomi MiPad 2 :)
The main benefit seems to be the android version (which is a bit silly if you ask me but still makes a difference for longevity).
Thanks for sharing your opinion and providing some evidence to back it up - appreciated.

PS. I wanted to reply yesterday but the system prevented me for being a new user… max 5 comments per day >.<"
It's bad enough I can't PM anyone, but they also don't want me to contribute or discuss things either…
You'd almost think they don't want new people to start using this site?
Not that I'm really new to the site… Just new to posting on the site lol

        • @Diiipaty:

Wow thanks for being appreciative :) This site needs more friendly people like yourself, welcome :)

        • @PainToad: My pleasure :)
To be honest, I think the internet in general needs more friendly people.. Most people seem to feel the need to be the biggest ass-bucket they can muster, simply because they can get away with it? Not sure how that brings people happiness…
Especially if someone else takes the time to share some knowledge or help you out (like you have above, you even found graph comparisons to explain your perspective - now THAT'S rare..), the least I could do is show a little appreciation :)

  • Is this band really in stock ? I have cancelled quite a few orders from this website in the past.

    • They have more than 10000 in stock. They are fixing a bug which shows "Back order" at checkout.

  • Thanks heaps monty.melb! Ordered the Mi Band 2 on the 6th of October, Shipped on the 7th and arrived on the 26th and very happy with it so far! (thought I'd give some positive feedback)

    • Thanks Dear 👍🏻

  • Mine arrived today….
