Fixed it just for you jv.

      • +1

The title is still confusing though…

      • +4

While you're fixing things, just a thought - would this deal not be better tagged to the American Express domain and.not Clock Frenzy? All the other Amex offers go against that domain, and putting this against Click Frenzy means that those who subscribe to Amex who'd be most interested in this wouldn't have got a notification.

        • Can't believe I wrote Clock Frenzy in that reply. Serves me right for posting at an ungodly hour, from a small screen and being too lazy to put my glasses on.

        • +12

Could have been worse if you missed the L In clock.

        • @Ss-ss: Oh, there was an L. Explains the odd content on my phone.

    • +2

      Lol. You're very special

      • +8

        Thanks dad…

  • The retailer list looks smaller than previous years, but $30 off 60 spend is tempting…

    • +1

There's more retailers but only spend with the above will get statement credits.

      • Loooking forward to a manual link for enrolment. Thanks.

      • I am looking at getting an AMEX just because of you ninja, will have to sub to anything you post lol.

Just a question though, I presume you need the statement credits to get the $30 cashback?

How do you know which retailed will provide statement credits?

        What even is statement credits?

        • Cashback credits are given automatically by the amex network.

The retailers in the original post above will all give the credits.

        • @Turd:

Thanks for the reply Turd, I was hoping for further clarification on why ninja said there are more retailers participating in the deal but only these will give the statement credits.

edit: ohhhhh is he referring to the click frenzy sale when he says more retailers participating? Because that would make sense haha

        • @knobbs: Yes, click frenzy and amex are different, amex are some stores click frenzy is like marketing promo thingy

        • @Turd:

Yeap, thanks for that clarification haha. I thought he was was saying only some AMEX places that were in the deal provided statement credits. I just confused myself.

Oh woohoo Nauru airlines good stuff book me up a return flight glad this deal popped up phew don't know if I would have survived if they didn't accept amex

    • +1

Actually, I am looking at doing a weekend away to Nauru. However, I am yet to get co formation of they are actually accepting Tourist visas again from Australian and New Zealand passport holders

      • Remember its a permanent AUS ban now if you want to come back

  • House online worked for Shop Small last year. I wonder if a $60 spend will trigger both the $30 Click Frenzy credit and the $10 Shop Small credit. Seems unlikely.

    • +2

It happened last year, so hopefully again: I made a single House purchase that got me a $10 Shop Small credit and a $30 credit from another promotion (plus free shipping for going over $90).

They sent it late, and one item was damaged and took a while to replace. But hey, great bargain.

      • +1

Do they have click and collect?

  • +3

Thanks once again forumninja for getting the Amex deals out so early, a few retailers I'm interested in are on the list :)

  • +1

I don't know how some of you manage to find this before they're released, nice work.

    • +3

Op nickname is ninja. Ninja knows many forbidden stuffs..

      • +1

because we can't see in the smoke

  • When does registration start? Can't see anything on AMEX Connect yet.

    • +2

      Look here 😀

More details coming soon on how to register. Post will be updated as more details become available.

  • +2

Nauru Airlines - so we can go tour the facilities?

    • I think they do not allow it, when ACA when it was random, best to talk to your local member first.

      • +2

Should be right…. just don't try and come back via boat.

  • +4

    Shame all crap retailers

  • +1

Whats up with the crappy brands? Haven't heard of 80% of them and wouldn't shop at 95% of them

    • +1

I lol'ed when I saw Sony on that list - reading their customer service reviews on the Xperia Z3 Tablet thread I don't think I'd be taking any chances with them!!

    • There's a few ones on there, that's for sure

Maybe Oxford, Cue, Espirit. And Adrenaline if you want to give a gift

  • +1

Would be good if you could buy in store and not just online. That way you could buy from Sony and split it across a number of cards. You can't even buy gift cards from the online Sony Store unfortunately.

  • +3

If Oxfam is included, does that mean I can buy a $64 goat and get $30 back and then claim 30% of $64 on tax?

    https://unwrapped.oxfam.org.au/gift/goat

    • +1

You end up spending $14.8 for a Goat

      • +3

Not a bad christmas present for a relative that gets you cheap crap every year.

        • +1

I needed a new lawn mower!

    • Make sure it's a donation rather than a purchase of something if you want to claim it on tax… I mean I know you don't actually get the goat, just a card I guess?

In my opinion yes you can claim the $64 as a donation on tax even though you get a credit from Amex, it's not a refund.

      • Can anyone confirm that a goat purchase definitely is not tax deductible?

        • +1

Goat isnt a donation. Just make straight donation

          https://www.oxfam.org.au/my/donate/general-fund/

        • Thanks for quick reply

        • +2

          How it works

When you buy an Oxfam Unwrapped gift, your donation helps support Oxfam Australia’s life-changing work around the world.

The person you’re buying the gift for will receive a clever card explaining how their gift is helping others. Your tax-deductible donation will fund a range of projects, including the project featured in your card. All our gifts are real items that we use to fight poverty. And don't worry, we never actually ship goats overseas, we source them locally.

        • hmm well that is reasonably clear isn't it!

        • Given Oxfam is advertising it is tax deductible maybe it falls under this category (which is tax deductible):

Acknowledgment in appreciation of a payment

Even if you give the donor acknowledgment in appreciation of a payment, the payment may still be a gift.

For example you may give a donor the following forms of acknowledgment for a gift:

          a sticker or lapel badge
a mention in a newsletter or periodical
a plaque, if it is of small cost and prominence.

          https://www.ato.gov.au/non-profit/gifts-and-fundraising/tax-…

    • +3

If you're in the highest tax bracket, it'll be (45% + 2% Medicare Levy + 2% Budget Repair Levy) * $64 = $31.36, which means after the $30 back it only costs $2.64 per goat.

      • Perfect, though I'm in the bottom tax bracket.

        • WTF is "2% Budget Repair Levy"??

        • +8

@D6C1: It's an extra charge because they drove their Chevy to the levy and the levy was dry.

    • I suppose gifting 6 x Hanukkah Chickens (at $10 each) should also qualify you for the $30 credit.

Where is the link to AMEX, or manual link ??

  • I don't have an amex card but would like to get in on these deals. Don't think the platinum ones would apply due to income under $100k. What would be a good card to get?

    • My pick would be either the Qantas Discovery ($0 annual fee) which you earn Qantas points on your spend or the Platinum Edge ($195 annual fee) which gives you AMEX points (3 per $ at supermarkets, 2 per $ at petrol stations and 1 per $ everywhere else) plus a free return domestic flight each year. Both are elligible for AMEX offers (including shop small if your quick!).

Check out the AMEX Referral Wiki for a signup bonus.

EDIT: Income requirements for Qantas Discovery is $35k and Platinum Edge is $50k

      • I agree - Qantas Discovery.

Sorry mods - forgot, no referral links allowed :)

      • The Platinum Edge card is very appealing - I know quite a few people who have picked it up recently.

      • @Hendo68 i signed up and used your referral link. Hopefully you get the bonus points

        • Cheers mate, can see the points already, don't forget to sign up for shop small!

    • +1

Have a look at the free Amex Essential card - details here to see if it suits you.

  • +1

Cheers I'll give the Platinum Edge a go and see how i go.

    • Just remember, there's different offers depending if you apply via referral or straight through Amex.
The referral offer comes with $200 travel credit in lieu of the free flight. For me, living in Perth, this is an inferior offer. Although for some it might be better as it's easier to utilise (hotels etc instead of just being bound to virgin flights)
Card itself is still great though with 3 points per $ at supermarkets. ;-p

      • Didn't know that. If you sign up via referral do you get $200 travel credit every year instead of a flight or only the first year? I haven't got this card due to the flights don't suit me so not worth the annual fee. If I can get credit instead of flights it could be worthwhile.

        • +1

          Every year.

        • Yeah, just go into the referral wiki & test one of the referrals there & contrast that against the standard amex offer.

I get the feeling the card is heading the same way as the Amex explorer (?) - Too many people are exploiting the free flight (selling them to WA people). I dont blame those people, just what I think is happening and why amex prefers to offer $200 instead of a free flight.

        • @Holysmoke:
Yep. Basically offsets the annual fee which is good.

  • good deals

  • +1

Nearly bought from House at the weekend. Will wait now

  • Has the amex offer started yet? It's coming up soon and I still don't see it on my amex offers.

    • +3

The manual registration link above is now active

  • Wouldn't risk buying a flight with Nauru Airlines…..

    http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2016/02/19/nauru-revokes-…

Also not the best place to visit

  • +3

    YES!!

It's active now!!! Donate to oxfam and get back money!!

    • Is this also in store? … edit.. online only.

      • I think online only?

  • Got emails immediately!

    • was it with Oxfam?

      • +1

        Yep!

        • straight donation, or purchase of goat? Do you have a recommendation for any other "purchases"?

        • +2

          @bluedufflecoat: Straight donation

  • +5

If anybody is a member of Sony X, you can get a PS4 controller for $37.46 shipped.

    • Is it free to become a member? If so how do we register?

      • Dunno. Thought they had opened up registrations but checking their Facebook page I don't see anything any more:
        https://www.facebook.com/sonyxaustralia/

Maybe try messaging them through their FB page?

  • Hey guys just wondering

It says 3 times at different store ..I was just wondering if I Can shop 3 times at UA?

    • +2

Must be different store, only one credit per merchant name on the account

  • +1

Currently some good deals on aussieBum already that I reckon you could combine with this? Genuinely good quality undies too IMO!
    Lazy xmas presents maybe?

  • Should i get the AmEx Quantas discovery card? Which one is best?

    • I have the Amex Qantas Discovery. It's always been pretty good for me. Not sure what your needs are though?

    • +2

For starters, I think it's a good choice…$0 annual fee.

    • +1

      ^^ Friendly Troll is right.

      • No annual fee
      • Free supplementary cards
      • Up to 15,000 points on sign-up if you use a referral (check out Amex Wiki on OzB)
      • 1 point per $1 spent on your card.

I'm really enjoying their statement credit promotions too. This being one of them, Shop Small, DJs, Myers etc etc. I think I've also used their Travel Agency for another statement credit a few months ago, so there are lots of very relevant deals. And the loophole around certain giftcards has been great too. :)

      • Supplementary cards have different card numbers. :D

        • +1

Yes, so at least twice as many entitlement offers, if not more. :)

        • Free supplementary cards

Although do note that this feature is common across all the AMEX issued cards. As sween64 mentioned, they will all have different card numbers too.

  • +20

Donated $540, gonna get back $270, and some less tax!

    • I love this idea. If I could give you another vote I would
