Further Info/Tips

There are two "tricks" that can be extremely beneficial as there is a common trend experienced by 7-Eleven App users: 1) If you receive an error processing your credit/debit card, you can purchase a 7-Eleven Gift Card in-store and apply the credits instantly onto the App. 2) You do not need to use the funds on your App to pay for the fuel, you can lock-in the price and pay via Cash or Card at the checkout saving the hassle of constantly topping up, gift cards, etc.

Master131 spends a lot of time creating and maintaining the script at Project Zero Three that we all know and love.

  • PM me if you'd like fuel locked for the next hour only! I have made a modification to my phone and wanted to confirm i can still lock in multiple accounts!
    Cheers!

    • -1

You know you can make as many dummy accounts as you like right…?

      • +8

Yeah of course, but nothing wrong with helping others in need during the process

  • +1

Anyone getting an error trying to lock in diesel? Getting this error, all other fuel types work apart from autogas and diesel.
    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/197496/83347/screensho…

    • This means there’s no fuel of that type in the area.

      • I can tell you that there definitely is, it's my local I go to

        • Have you tried a different location? Might be able to get the same cheap price elsewhere…

          • @sween64: Ok it's working now.

I tried different locations and different logins and kept getting that error, weird.

    • +1

      is it the right location?

  • +1

Would bluestacks work instead of Nox?

    • No, neither of them support Android 9

  • +1

This is a truly great thread. Thanks.

  • Keep getting error A02 on fuel lock. Restarted app, device both soft and hard. Latest version, was working yesterday Got me flummoxed.

Can see the in store "bargains" (well the tic tac at $1 is pretty good).

    Anyone got any suggestions?

  • I think the new version has reduced the distance (i.e., range of stations) from your GPS point. That is my experience. i.e., I can't wait for other petrol stations to develop an app. So ready to jump ship.

    • +1

why would they? im waiting for 7-11 to pull the fuel lock function

      • Are you genuinely asking, or wanting to want to say something?

The lock function has definitely resulted in me preferencing 711 rather than other stations (which I had in the past). So I see it as a good business tactic to attract more consumers. I don't think they'd make any losses, let alone major losses from misuse of the app

        • -1

fair enough. without the hack in this thread i feel there isnt much difference than the standard 4c at woolies/coles

  • The variance in prices at the moment is insane. Looking at 95 it's 109.9 in one site and 162.9 a few km away, a 53c difference, 48% more. Blows the coles and woolies 4c discount, and even the occasional flybuys 10c.

    • +1

its truly shocking being in canberra and looking at the differences outside of the state.

    • +1

Seems coles hasn't release any flybuys discounts since the pandemic
Maybe they thought the fuel price is already too low….

  • +2

So we're no longer able to request locks in this thread, but how can those that can help see the classifieds requests?

I'm happy to pay it forward with locks as I can do it via IOS.

  • -2

If someone is happy to do price lock for others I don't think there should be an issue for others but unfortunately all the requests recently get down vote and unpublished.

I understand we are getting so many request but so many people doing tough due to Covid and if we can help each other with lock even $4 to $10 saving is a great help for some one in need.

I might get lot of down votes after this post but if someone is happy to accept direct messages for fuel lock please comment to this post and we will save your details and ping you directly if some one need fuel lock.
    Thanks

    • +1

      Just start a new thread

      • +1

        Thats sad

    • +29

I understand we are getting so many request but so many people doing tough due to Covid and if we can help each other with lock even $4 to $10 saving is a great help for some one in need.

If you are about to go bankrupt from $4 to $10, then you have bigger problems to worry about, than getting cheap fuel.
Covid or not, people still will be asking for fuel locks.

I might get lot of down votes after this post but if someone is happy to accept direct messages for fuel lock please comment to this post and we will save your details and ping you directly if some one need fuel lock.

In other words, you can't do it yourself and you want a dedicated freebie fuel locker.

I've been pinged constantly weeks or months after the last time I mentioned I have the capability to do it.
I still carry it out, but I know there are many people who just shotgun message a list of of fuel lockers hoping one of us (fuel lockers) will be kind enough to do it for them.

      Locking fuel requires the following:
      - reading the fuel lock request in PM
      - typing someone else's credentials in (we can't copy and paste into a real android phone). Some of them are monstrous passwords as well (it's 7/11, not your banking password, why do you guys need to use a 20 character password?
      - changing GPS locations to match the desired fuel type (might be different locations, especially for LPG, E10, U95, Diesel)
      - checking the fuel lock price is right (P03 is not infallible, might need to switch to 2nd best price), and matches the fuel lock request then carrying it out
      - acknowledging someone's lock request message by replying to them

If you assign one minute per action above (we need to either do this via iPhone connected to a laptop or a rooted android phone capable of passing safetynet test, which took significant time to set up properly), then on average, a fuel lock assist costs the person carrying it out for others, around 5 minutes of their time to help out a stranger.

All I get are people ghosting me after a fuel lock request without even a simple thank you.

Fuel lockers don't get anything in return apart from consumed time, I don't even get to feel warm and fuzzy because I don't get Thank Yous after I've locked it in for them.

      What happened to basic manners?

In my eyes, those that don't even say a simple thank you after a lock (takes you.. 10 seconds at most, if you type sixty characters/10 words per minute), don't really deserve any further assists.

I've even helped someone configure their rooted phone (they were on a Samsung S7 on lineage OS unable to lock due to not carrying out smali patcher) via a Zoom session. What happened after?

      Ghosted.

So if you can understand why the people capable of fuel lock assists are now all hiding… it's like beggars in China, you offer to help one, you'll get mobbed by the dozen, and they come back repeatedly.

      • +8

I agree with you there mate
I offered once and even now (despite it being a few pages back) people have messaged me going "can you lock". Sure, why not - I like helping people. Many have helped me on the way here - master has always been kind enough to respond to technical problems and pushed updates when I let him (or her) know there was updates that broke the program… I'm very grateful for the help I've recieved here despite like you said the $4-10 isn't really going to matter to me. I'm not immenently going to go bankrupt - I just like saving money.
So going back to the petrol lock - I boot and set up my spare iOS device, check the cheapest location, etc. sign into someone's account with a completely cooked password and then lo and behold someone already has locked in for them (one or two of them were literally like 30min after the message, some a few hours). I work long hours at the hospital (quite often 60+ hour weeks) and I don't have time to be locking on demand (when I offered it was because I was on annual leave and not much I can do during a COVID plagued annual leave - I'm in Melb).
It's just impolite that people message mutliple people at once - it means many people waste thier time. And if for those that do mass message - the very least that person could do is tell everyone else they messaged - don't worry someone else did it for me! It's downright disappointing and like you said - there's absolutely no benefit in it for you or I.

      • +2

Yep I feel your frustration. I assist when I can and two regulars have asked to send me money, but I ask them to donate to master131 via removing ads on the Eleven Me app. For the life of me, I cannot find his buy me a coffee link on the Play store.

        • +2

I ask them to donate to master131 via removing ads on the Eleven Me app

ElevenMe was not made by Master131, Master131 does ProjectZeroThree only.

ElevenMe was made by Bernard Kung btw (Got penalty-binned for breaching store code of conduct repeatedly) and uses the P03 API only to draw data

          • @cwongtech: Oops, my mistake.

Anyone have a link to the coffee link for master131?

            • +2

              @pogichinoy:

Anyone have a link to the coffee link for master131?

Unfortunately he closed off his patreon a while ago

      • +2

You should be able to request a $1.00 donation through PayPal or something. Sure, it's probably $0.40 after PayPal's fees but atleast all the time wasters will disappear. Also, if they won't be saving more than $1.00, they shouldn't be wasting their and especially your time!

        • +1

If master131 throws up his Paypal here, I'm sure there'll be plenty keen to donate.

        • +3

There are no paypal fees if you send to friends/family in Australia using your paypal balance or bank account.

    • +2

What is the issue with making a post in the classifieds thread instead of this fuel Price thread? Is it because it may take longer for someone to read your request or is it because there is less people reading the thread can can cater to your needs?

There is nothing stopping anyone from following the steps discussed in here and locking their own fuel/fuel for other people.

I'm actually curious why you have time to post these long rants in here but can't setup your own device to lock in.

  • In regards to saving for the fuel $4 to $10 it was a general statement not reflecting anyone's personal situation.
I am well stable with or without Covid Thank You for your concern!
The only reason we are here is for Bargains and who don't like one.

I understand your point and I acknowledge your great effort for locking fuel for stangers.
I agree if someone is not replying you with a simple THANKS and ghost you after this does not deserve a fuel lock again.

At the end there is no obligation for anyone to do fuel lock it is a good will gesture which some people are paying forward by doing so.

PS- I remember you did fuel lock for me once Cwongtech and I personally thanked you by reply message and here again I say Many thanks for your fuel locks for everyone in this community.

    • +6

PS- I remember you did fuel lock for me once Cwongtech and I personally thanked you by reply message and here again I say Many thanks for your fuel locks for everyone in this community.

Yes, you're welcome to request fuel locks from me every now and then because of this simple thank you, the message wasn't specifically targeted to you, I have like 5-6 pages of messages all requesting for fuel locks.

Around 80% of those have ghosted without a thank you.

At the end there is no obligation for anyone to do fuel lock it is a good will gesture which some people are paying forward by doing so.

Thing is, it's not paying it forward unless someone was incapable of locking and now they are able to do it are returning the favour back to those who locked fuel for them.
But those they are now helping.. are those that still can't carry out locks, which as per above.. many are ghosts and have no intention of becoming fully self-sufficient

      • +2

cwongtech, you have lead the way. thanks.
I've done four locks this afternoon. Happy to do them as I was sitting here on the laptop doing not much but changing passwords after being nagged by ios14 for the past few months.
The limiting factor for me is when I actually need a lock for myself, but I have worked out my own account and password having initially not assigned any value to it, like you said, it's not a bank. Though the money I have saved, it might well become one.

  • any issues if im in nsw but lock in a price in another state, e.g. WA?

    Error G09

I never got this before and been happy locking my prices for a few months on my iPhone 7 with iOS 13.6, using iFakeLocation.

Am I on their blacklist now?

    • -1

      alley cat!

      • +1

Congrats, after all these years you are the first to recognize it! I am not kidding!

Now I can't edit my comment to update my problem's status…

Update: I just made a new account with a new email address and I was able to login, fake my location and lock in the fuel. I guess my old account is banned now?

        • +1

Ì tried to sign up a new account, using yahoo, trashmail and outlook email addresses. Its throws an error, when verifying email address.
Am I doing something wrong ?

          • +1

@notJV: Yes, I should make a more informative post about it.

There are 2 scenarios (that I have discovered so far):

I haven't received the confirmation email

            • Check your spam folder
            • If you haven't received it after 10 minutes, your email address might be on their secret blacklist. Try a different email!

So far I am using an obscure disposable email address generator that works but I don't want to disclose because it will get OzBargained… sorry :(

I have received the confirmation email, but when pressing the link, I get an error!

Now lock in that cheapo fuel price and enjoy!

Guide correct as of 12th of October, 2020 5:56 PM

            • @Blue Cat: I was registering from mobile and verifying from PC.
              Awesome, thanks that works.

              Added +ve rep.

        • love your avatar pic hahah

Am just lazing about at home tonight - if anyone needs a lock in, swing me a PM :) Jack

  • Just downloaded ifakelocation, have set the fake location but cannot get it to work on my iphone. can anyone give me a hand on how to use this? cheers

  • -7

Anyone able to lock fuel in iPhone after new update 14?

    • -4

Wow looks like people negged you without actually reading your fuel sentence…. But I wouldn't know, I'm a Android

    • +3

Pretty sure if you scroll back the answer is there, that’s why you’re getting negged

    • +1

      yes

  • +10

If someone is still looking for an android method (rooted)
I can confirm this alternate method (using TaiChi module in Magisk) works - does not need smalli patcher, and can be done all from the phone

  • +9

Hello guys, thanks ozbargain members for all your help! I have finally worked out how to get the 7-eleven app to work on my S7. (Special thanks cwongtech for spotting my mistake xD).

I'll be locking in for a few hours tonight because I know that others have helped me out on this and want to give back to this community as well.

  • +2

Can anyone recommend the cheapest way to get around this now? whether it's ios or android? I haven't used 7/11 since the major update invalidated the modded android APK.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, the oldest compatible ios phone would be the iphone 5s? Which would be around $100-$120. Is that the best option? Possibly cheaper android routes?

    • +2

Or if u have any iPad sitting around u can use that too
iPad or iPhone + ifakelocation best option at the moment

      • I don't have any old apple devices laying around unfortunately. Always been android. With that being said I don't have any old android phones either as I usually sell them when I upgrade. So that's why I'm looking for the cheapest option at the moment. I don't mind spending around $100 though. You would recoup that cost fairly quickly.

        • Is your current phone able to run the 7 eleven app and rootable?

If it is, it's be the best way since you wouldn't need a PC every time you want to lock.

          • @shiznit: Actually the only android I have laying around is an old oppo a57. After doing some research on xda forums it doesn't have any rooting/modding support. Guessing since it wasn't a very popular phone. Is there any cheap/old android phones you would recommend that is easy to root?

          • @shiznit: can you enlighten me with the PC method? im on the hunt for an old android, just charging up my tablet now to check filmware version! my phone is trying to get me to update something for andriod 9 but i keep telling it no!

            • @shirtz69: I was referring to iOS tethered location faking.

              • @shiznit: ahh ok. silly question, i have an android, i assume all the fake gps apps in the play store dont work for the 7-11 app?

                • @shirtz69: Please read the Working Methods section in the OP

                  • @shiznit: Ive downloaded ifakelocation but still cant get my phone to recognise the location. Any tips?

                • @shirtz69: It does work but you have to follow the guide in the opening post of this thread. Requires rooted phone + smali patch method.

  • +4

    woops, 14.1 killed iFL
    .

    • +1

Thanks for the heads-up, was thinking of updating, not anymore.

    • Try 3utools?

    • -1

Your device's iOS version is not supported at this time.

    • +2

I just updated and it's working.
Didn't work on my PC at first because I hadn't deleted the previous version's folder. So deleted both v1.4.1 & v1.4.3, re-extracted the v1.4.3, then ran the .exe file and it's now working.
Trying deleting the files and re-extracting and see if it helps?

    • +1

Yeah, i tried fixing IFL, but there's only 14.0 or 14.2 avaliable. Where is 14.1? :(

  • Anyone having issues logging in?
Been getting "network error" and "try again error A02" for a few days now.

    • No issues here. Try with a different phone and/or account.

  • +1

3u tools working, and has been for months. iPhone user.
Keep my laptop in the car :)

    • +2

Nice. Where have you parked the car?
Just asking if I drive past by and need a lock, I can ask you for the same. :)

    • I was using my iPhone + 3u tools but was getting E03 DeviceCheckReject error. Does it mean my iPhone has somehow been blocked by 7eleven? Thanks in advance

      • i had that error with ifakelocation. it wasn’t blocked, it was because i upgraded to ios 14 lol

  • +1

Sorry to notify everyone but does anyone have an email address for 7-Eleven’s customer support or tech support? I can’t log in on my new phone (iPhone XS, iOS 14.0.1), the Safari web view pops up but nothing loads (just blank white). I tried the 7-Eleven contact form and that returned an error as well. Thanks.

    tldr: what’s 7-Eleven’s email address?

  • +4

Hi guys, i have not been using the 11-Seven chopper much over the last few months. With the ongoing inter-state travelling restrictions across the nation, has anyone been in an awkward situation where the cashier at your local 7-11 servo questions the validity of the lock simply because you've locked in a different state to where you're actually purchasing the fuel?

    • Since it's much less likely people have dodgy fuel locks, they don't say anything to me really. I just say they're just really expensive anyway and see ya later.

    • -1

Just say a mate locked it in

    • +2

Just say you can't remember, or just any random place. It's none of their business.

    • +2

The voucher doesn't show where it was locked in. It's possible that information is stored on the back end but you can't see it from the app. They shouldn't know where you locked.

      • yea! i just realise the lock voucher on the new app now no longer state where it was locked (iirc, the previous app does indicate the location).

Only asked because in the past, some of rather curious cashiers would make a comment to state "oh you've been to <insert state here> recently?"…

        Cheers!
