This thread serves to let everyone know how much you have saved on your 7/11 fuel app.

Step 1: Subscribe to this thread to get email updates. You can change your subscription settings in your Ozbargain account to enable more/less email updates.

There are two "tricks" that can be extremely beneficial as there is a common trend experienced by 7-Eleven App users: 1) If you receive an error processing your credit/debit card, you can purchase a 7-Eleven Gift Card in-store and apply the credits instantly onto the App. 2) You do not need to use the funds on your App to pay for the fuel, you can lock-in the price and pay via Cash or Card at the checkout saving the hassle of constantly topping up, gift cards, etc.

      No issues on my end.

      Are you attempting to set up a rooted phone using Magisk? Or has it worked normally before and now it is coming up with that issue?
      Have you done Smali patcher yet?

    Android user - I'm prepared to be neg but "how do I root an Android phone" in an ozbargained way? Google it and I got even more confused between Magisk, Kingoroot, TWRP etc. Is there a straight forward way to root? & I suggest adding "how to root" instruction to the top "Working methods" will make it a lot more helpful.

      There's no straight forward method. You need to google with your specific phone model to provide more detailed instructions on how to do it. Xda developers forum is a great resource for this.

      Alternatively, if you do a search on your phone model here, some people have already provided instructions. Off the top of my head both samsung S7 and OnePlus One were really good

        Thanks for the hints. I've successfully rooted my S8+. Tried to download the Smalli Patcher but the link didn't work. Any idea please?

          7/11 prep steps
          1) Go to magisk manager's website and get smali patcher files on your comp
          2) Ensure your device is connected (type adb devices to check its connnected), then run Smali patcher with admin rights, and patch
          3) You should see a new zip file generated from step 2, copy over to phone
          4) Go to Magisk Manager on phone, install modules from files, select Smali patcher files from step 3. Make sure the files from step 3 are NOT the same as the ones you downloaded in step 2.

      Whats your phone model?
      Type your phone model and xda on google ( eg s20 fe xda)
      You can find the steps to root there as every device is different and some have to bootloader unlocked.

      TWRP is recovery
      Magisk is root application( you flash magisk from TWRP to root the device)
      no idea about kingroot though.

      This thread is about 7/11 fuel watch, not about rooting android phones.

      Also, each phone is different in terms of what Android image is able to be used and the methods of rooting are not always universal.

      The only things that are universal is Smali patcher after you've got the rooting portion out of the way

      "In an ozbargained way" - sorry but I spent 4 hours to find a guide that worked for my phone and to set it all up.

      No one is going to attempt to spend more time to try and root other people's phones, especially when your proposed guide requires the author to write for a multitude of phones they obviously don't own.

    The My 7-Eleven App will be put into maintenance mode for a quick update from 3.00am until 4.00am on Friday 13 November.

    upgraded to iOS14.2 and unable to run ifakelocation-v1.4.1..
    Throws error at setting fake location "Unable to mount developer image."

    ifakelocation-v1.5 throws an error while executing iFakeLocation.exe that "the app trying to install isn't a MS verified app".

    Anyone resolved similar issues?

    Looks like the fun is over for me
    Using 3utools
    now getting E03 devicecheckfailed
    have tried deleteing app and reinstalling
    wont lock even without spoofing.

    Looks like my devices has been banned

          From the above assistance others and myself have offered, yours is android root method..
          Hikaru is using 3utools, which is for iOS

          E03 seems to be popping up more frequently for those using 3utools/ifakelocation methods for iOS

            @cwongtech: No I'm using the 3utools with my partner's iPhone 7. And yes I've been figuring locking using my SS Galaxy S8+ so that I don't have to bother her every time.

                @cwongtech: It's working :) But now I need to look for a new phone upgrade as I've rooted my main phone - my bad, should have done more research about pros & cons rooting (back in the old days I used to jailbreak every iPhone I've owned & thought rooting is somewhat similar, but apparently things changed).

                    @KingSlayyer: A full phone reset has cleared the error. I'd hazard. Guess that it's probably due to the fact that device does 10 locks per week minimum.

                    No big deal it's a dedicated device for that purpose a reset now and then isn't going to kill me

      Rooted Android will work, but you need a comp to help set up (using smali patcher)

    Normal 91 around me is currently at $1.54. I can't believe how cheap it is in other parts of the states. Such a huge price discrepancy is crazy!

    Thank you for Master and everyone else who spends time to keep this running. I routinely save at least $5 a tank, thanks to your hard work!

    If you are having issues with smali patcher, there is an alternative in using taichi and mockmocklocation. still requires magisk but i couldnt get smali to work on the phone i was trying to use

        Wont run on my android phone, also when i lock on my iphone i use 3utools from a pc so just as easy to get it from projectzerothree. I assume the eleven me app is just pulling from their api anyway

            @cwongtech: The idea is to save the step. Considering everybody Google's it. Also it's already stored in the backend. If you pull the details via the api the json file it creates already has it listed might as well show it

    I am still getting the error in iFakeLocation browser, when I set the location "Your device's iOS version is not supported at this time."

    It worked before, but now stopped working. I have the "14.1" folder inside the DeveloperImages folder

    Any guidance will be highly appreciated..

      Edit: I was just able to lock fuel price on an older iPhone with iOS 12.3 (but 14.1 / 14.2 is still an issue)

          I use v1.5, but it doesn't work on latest model of iPhone with iOS 14.1 or 14.2, however works on older iPhone 6 with iOS 12.3

    Are people still just locking in using the cheapest location? I am thinking with border closures last few months it gives them more reason to block accounts/devices with impossible lock and usage location combinations. I just got it working and don't want the fun to end on my first use :-)

      People are still locking, probably locking less because of WFH etc. There’s been no reports of account blocks or bans. I’m still using interstate locks.

          Also, I don't think it's a big deal anymore because you can just make another free account. You used to have to link your Credit Card.

    Have rooted an old HTC 10.

    Tried flashing Android 9 and 10 (via lineageOS and Pixel experience) with Magisk and Smali Patcher

    Get to opening 7/11 app and it says "Your device is not supported" "Restore your device to factory settings"

    Have also just tried without Magisk. Is there something 7-11 is picking up to assert that my device is not supported?

    Any ideas?

      You need to use magisk hide on the 7 eleven app so it doesnt know your phone is rooted. Also check to see if the phone pass safety check (both of these are via magisk manager)

      I couldn't get my android to work so switched to Iphone me not being an iphone person… and it was so easy I couldn't believe how simple.

      Heres how I did it

      1) Download the ifake software for your version of Windows
      2) Install 3utools onto your comptuer

      Run the 3utools program and have your phone connected to your computer ( this will connect your device to computer , if it is successful then go to next step )
      Run the ifake program, it is an exe which will bring up a map where you enter in the location and move to the location.

      3) Go to your Iphone and run the 7-11 app, look for best location and hopefully it should take you to the ifake location .

      Hope that helps.

        You don’t need both 3utools and iFakeLocation. With iFL you do need iTunes so maybe wchau was using 3utools instead of iTunes…

            @Hero: trying on windows with iTunes. So I have got iTunes running and when i execute the iFL exe it opens in browser.
            But I don't see any device in the drop down. What am i missing?
            I can however search for a location, but not set it.

              @coolhead: Is your Iphone unlocked connected to your PC and 7 Eleven running?

              As soon as click 'refresh' on the iFL app, it detects my phone.'

              Then put the location you want to lock and click 'search' and then 'Set FL'.

    Managed to get the Android method working on my old Pixel OG. It's actually not as complicated as I thought, no need to flash a different ROM and no TWRP.
    I'm a complete newbie who has never rooted any device before but this is what worked for me. FYI I'm running Android 10 on my Pixel, but I think the guide would likely work on other Pixel devices as well.

    The 2 guides I followed
    Source #1 : Use this to understand the basics eg. getting sdk platform, usb debugging etc
    Source #2 : Use this to get Magisk working.

    Method:
    1. Unlock Bootloader
    2. Download latest factory image for sailfish (Pixel OG) from here. If you have any other Pixel device make sure you download the right factory image.
    3. Extract the boot.img from the above zip and move into your phone as per Source #2 instruction
    4. I also installed the factory image into my Pixel at this point, didn't hurt but not sure if it helped.
    5. Get Magisk Canary APK (it's called app-debug.apk) from here and follow instructions from Source #2
    6. Turn on MagiskHide in Settings to pass SafetyNet Check, this wasn't described in the guide.
    7. Follow the reddit guide in the main post to install smali patcher through Magisk. It took me ages to find out how to install a module, it was right in front of me but if anyone is as blind as me, it's the puzzle piece icon on the bottom right hand corner of the Magisk Manager main screen.
    8. Don't get Appninja GPS app from the Play Store, it doesn't allow "Privacy Mode". Instead download the apk from here

      This is in case when you flash the patched_boot.img (you install Magisk APK first, then generate a patched_boot.img based off the extracted boot.img, transfer a copy to your comp from your phones internal storage, because you need to push it to root)
      When you reboot and use adb to push/load the patched_boot.img to your phone (while in bootloader mode), there's a chance you'll get stuck in a bootloop.
      That's when you use adb to push/load the original boot.img to let your system start up again.

      EDIT: Oh just re-read this, you mean you flashed/reset your factory image to your pixel?
      Always a good thing to do to start clean :D

      I have problem in installing smalli. Took me ages to get it right due to my pc driver conflict. On my friend phonei used taichi module instead. Taichi is so much easier

          Plenty on Gumtree. 5s is the cheapest model with decent performance and iOS support.

                    @andylch: I’ve got an iPhone 5S on 12.3.1 I was hoping to using checkra1n. Did you have any issues? I was using bootra1n and it timed out during “the real bug step”.
