Further Info/Tips

There are two "tricks" that can be extremely beneficial as there is a common trend experienced by 7-Eleven App users: 1) If you receive an error processing your credit/debit card, you can purchase a 7-Eleven Gift Card in-store and apply the credits instantly onto the App. 2) You do not need to use the funds on your App to pay for the fuel, you can lock-in the price and pay via Cash or Card at the checkout saving the hassle of constantly topping up, gift cards, etc.

    • Damn, I still have mine locked to Revesby South at 118.9!
      Apart from fuelling a litre or 2 and 'using' this voucher, then doing a new lock at 117.7, is there any other way?

      • Que?

        • I want to cancel my current lock (118.9) and perform a new lock (117.7). Do you know of an easy way to do this?

        • +1

          @MathNerd:

          Too late. I think Riverdale has gone up.

        • +1

          @MathNerd: screenshot and send it to a friend to fill up

        • +1

          @gccmelb: Ah damn, missed out! Spewing! That's alright, 118.9 is way lower than anything Melbourne has :)

        • +1

          @steff: Thanks steff, I think I'll just use it, as it seems the price has already gone up.

        • +2

          @MathNerd:

          As my mate would tell me, don't spew you paid 1c/L more a full tank but rather you saved not paying 20-30c/L extra when the prices were jacked up.

        • +1

          @gccmelb: That's an excellent way of looking at it, thanks!

        • @MathNerd: how many litres were you going to fill?

        • @MathNerd:

          You can either

          1. Make a new account
          2. Go to a 7-11 and fill up $1 of petrol. This will then use the current fuel lock, freeing it up for you to lock again.
        • @cee2o: I was going to fill 30L. At 1.2c/L differential, I'd be saving only 36c. That's fine if I'm missing out, it isn't even half a dollar 😋

        • +1

          @MathNerd: yeah thought the same when it changed to 129.9 from 130.9 :)
          You could fill less and hope the price elsewhere will drop before you go empty.

        • +2

          @b2dz: 2 wont work. Minimum delivery is 2L

        • @steff: Ah ok, so then you'll need to fill around $2.35 at current prices.

  • +1

    Prices in Sydney are rising. I think it's time to lock Riverstone prices.

  • +1

    Croydon park NSW 118.9

    • Now it's 149.9 😂

  • -1

    Check your flybuys, you might have 10 cents off per litre or 1000 points for 30 litre (equal 16.7 cents less) then use the 4 cents voucher and 10 cents off by spending 20$. Then use your discounted giftcards from amex or somewhere else, or flybuys dollars earned. Win!

    • Too much effort …

    • That's Coles?

  • Riverstone NSW prices this morning

    E10 = 115.7
    U91 = 117.7
    U95 = 129.7
    U98 = 135.7
    PDL = 125.9
    LPG = 086.9

    • It has gone up now

      • Yeah locked in before it went up. Lucky me!

  • +4

    • howdy nnm, can you show the link for the scrape of data or how you run it. thank you.

      the google doc shows Goulburn

      • +5

        I’m working on putting together a webpage that you can access the data from. Because the data is pulled from their servers and not human reported, it should be the most accurate.

        You can’t really scrape the data easily (requires a specially constructed auth token) and if I release the method I’m using publically I would say that 7/11 Fuel developers would modify it. Sorry if this seems selfish – I just don’t want to spend another 8 or so hours picking apart the iOS binary and reverse engineering code.

        • Don't ruin it for all of us!!!!!

        • +6

          @Dud: Not planning on releasing the code. Just going to essentially create another fuel price tracker, which will connect to a data store that I host with the data pulled from 7/11 once per day.

        • @no not me:

          Awesome.

          Can't wait to see it.

        • thanks nnm.
          your a champion.

          everyone sshhhhhhhhhh, we know nothing.

        • +6

          @no not me:

          Shit… Please be careful. It works pretty well currently as the script that Nuggets use only scrapes government servers (NSW/WA) and a third party site. We're not touching anything on 7-11, as you rightly point out, so technically they wouldn't have visibility, though they probably know about this forum.

          If they see that someone is taking a scrape of all the petrol stations across the country from kit that they host, they may get pissed. Although it's really cool and rather impressive, it may cause more problems than what it's worth.

        • @b2dz: Hear hear.

        • +1

          @b2dz:

          I concur, I know his intention is good and it sounds pretty cool but I'm afraid it might kill this deal forever.

    • Nice!

  • Up Up, Prices are up - 124.3 (U91) Goulburn

    • Bankstown still 118.9(U91)

    Don't forget to collect your free Slurpee if it's greater than 32 degrees today.

    • Thanks for the reminder.

      I just went to get 1 for free….. forgot all about it.

      Dud.

  • Can someone explain the difference between -
    “W/N Location”. Vs “Q/V/A Location” what do they stand for?

    • Wa/nsw
      Qld/vic/act

      • Thanks. Can I still lock price of QVA if I am in NSW?

        • +1

          Yes

        • +1

          The reason they are separated is because WA/NSW uses government supplied data, QVA uses customer supplied data so it may be inaccurate.

        • @sween64: thanks that makes sense :)

  • -2

    Dakabin QLD

    121.7 (U91) Deception Bay

    • +5

      Don't believe it.

      • Legit. Just checked on the app.

        • I was joking.

          (It was bad).

        • +1

          Think he just thought he was being deceived :)

        • +1

          @b2dz: Haha, yep it was bad :)

  • +1

    120.7 (U91) Dakabin

    • Also 120.7 (U91) Deception Bay
      Seems like Nuggets 8-Twelve link is not keeping up with the lowest prices anymore? Still showing U91 122.9 Watanobbi .

      • No it's working fine. Left hand side is NSW/WA right hand side is QLD, VIC and ACT

        • Maybe it is updating less frequently because this morning when I checked, U91 122.9 Watanobbi was the cheapest on the 8-Twelve app, but a few people reported cheaper prices for U91 of 120.7 at Dakabin and Deception Bay?

        • +1

          @billy_bob: if no one has submitted the prices for Qld/Vic/ACT on the third party site that it pulls the data from, then it won't show up on 8-Twelve.

        • @Nuggets: Thanks Nuggets, that makes sense. Thanks heaps for the 8-Twelve link, has saved me heaps already.

        • +1

          @billy_bob: no wuckas.

    Hi Guys,

    I have a request.

    Along with naming the suburb having the lowest fuel prices, can we put the zip code with it. Like for example Strathfield 2135. It will be more easy to search on the F-GPS.

    Thank you all.
    svr

    • +8

      I reject this proposal because it doesn't make the search any easier. No point of doing this as there's no added value.

      • +2

        You at least know which state it is, there are so many similar suburbs.

        • State is probably good enough. I usually just say Richlands, QLD like in my initial post. (Although don't lock that in now as it's not the cheapest when I posted this)

      • +1

        Wish search are you talking about, searching on 7-11 app or fake GPS app??

        I am talking about searching on fake GPS.

        • Fake GPS. It doesn't make a difference, I just locked in P91 from Murrumba Down (120.7) and all I did just type in the suburb name and it found it straight away.

          No postcode or state name required. I know there are several suburbs that have same name in different states, i.e Surrey Hills - it's a suburb in Sydney but also a suburb in Melbourne. In this case, if cheap price was found in Surrey Hill, whoever posted the cheap price would have the common sense to clear the confusion by adding the State's name or postcode.

          I'm sorry but your suggestion sounds like a spoilt child who wanted to be spoon-fed all the time.

        • -2

          My dear,

          In my experience, my fake GPS took me to USA almost everytime, hence I had this problem. How on earth would I know you were happy with it or yours was working fine.

          Live in peace man/woman.

          Why keep judging people without knowing as little as abc of them.

          Don't act like an aggressive loser.

          God bless you. Get well soon.

        • +3

          @Gorodemon: i understand that sometimes the suburb is named the same as a place outside of aus and the gps directs you there instead, i have overcome this by googling the suburb and typing australia near it which then gives me the exact location.

        • @svr:
          Most of the weird sounding suburbs won't be in America. They usually have some aboriginal roots in it.
          Try typing AUS or Australia at the end of your fake gps location search.

  • +6

    118.9 (U91)
    Revesby South

    • Dayummm, Revesby South always provides the goods when it comes to these.

  • Geelong is showing as $1.15 for U91 but it's much more expensive than that. I suspect a bug in the code.

    • +3

      Sigh.

      It's not a bug in the code. For Vic, Queensland and ACT Nuggets' script relies on a user community to insert the correct price. Therefore it's probably human error, rather than a problem with the code.

      For NSW and WA, the script scrapes data from their respective government websites, because they keep a repository of all prices across petrol stations in each states.

      • Completely forgot about that. Thanks for clearing it up. My bad!

    • It's showing $1.30 for me on the app actually, where did you see $1.15 initially?

  • anyone seen a better U98 price? The lowest ive seen is 136.9 in the entrance NSW

  • New to all this, is it sus if I lock in an interstate price (say vic) and use the voucher in nsw?

  • anybody found better?

    (U91) 120.9 - Beenleigh City Rd, QLD

    • +4

      120.5 North Lakes Central QLD
      118.9 Revesby South NSW

  • +2

    Eltham Vic 135.7 for 98

    • Bugger! Missed it, back up to 145.5 now :(

      • +7

        Good for you, now dropped to 128.7. Just passed by it half an hour ago. Their 91 pump is faulty and they don't have 95, therefore selling 98 at 91 price.

  • Special Unleaded 118.9 The Entrance NSW

  • Hey all,

    Just wondering if this happened to anyone else. Generated a fuel lock for a friend and screenshotted and sent it to them. Cashier at 7/11 caught it was a photo =/ the poor guy had to pay full price…

    Are the staff actively looking for photo vouchers now? I usually only generate it and send a voucher for my parents:(

    • +1

      yeah some guys actually pay attention and I guess they look at the time on your phone while pretending to scan it.

      you can always install the app on ur parent's phone and log in as ur account.

      • +3

        Or create a second account for your parents, and get them to install the app on their phone. When you want to lock a price for them, just log out of your account and login as them. It takes a few minutes to show up on their phone.

        • If you have a Samsung Galaxy, use the 'Secure Folder' feature. Stay logged in as yourself on your main account, add the 7Eleven app to your secure folder and into your parent or friends account there.

    • +1

      considering these guys are paid about $8 an hour i'm very surprised anyone would go to that effort.

      I'd tell them that this is the only way i'm paying - otherwise i'll be walking out. even flash the phone camera to record them not accepting your payment.

      • +4

        In that scenario it's technically against the TOS of the application, so they have every right to not accept that payment.

        Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

      • You can just pay in full and send the voucher screenshot to 7-11 HQ (I remember there is an option in the app) to get the diff credited as the in-app eGiftCard. I've done it once when the machine couldn't recognise my voucher for some reason. (probably their system glitch) More amicable and easier than having a heated argument.
        And finally, if you just wanna revenge for their bad attitude, pay with a credit card and do a chargeback.

        • +8

          The servo guys are just doing their job, I don't think it's fair to blame their "bad attitude".
          We are the ones that are circumventing their app by using fake gps so lets not feel so entitled.

        • +1

          @tarken:

          Agreed.

        • Hey thanks truetypezk. Just found the info you were talking about in the FAQ section of the app. Probably too late to help my friend sadly lol.
