Seems good saving on list price but without 1080 on 15inch screen and no SSD can't see it being that great of a laptop.

Not that you'd ever get those features in a $600 laptop…

        the dell deal tho

  • The FHD Dell before was a better deal than this. With 15" screen, it's unthinkable that manufacturers don't make it FHD as standard.

    • To meet this price, you really can't.

It's a budget laptop. You want premium, you gotta pay more. Lenovo and Dell always have deals though. For a few hundred more than this you get a much better system. Worth it.

    • Do you have a link to the Dell deal on Ozbargain (even if it's expired)?

      • Assuming you aren't familiar with the search function:

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/290342

The most recent deal, and it looks like it is still active

        edit:
Wow sorry that's a Lenovo laptop

the closest comparable Dell product with requested specs is the Inspiron 15 5000 in the following expired deal:

        • Thanks

Yeah, I was under the impression that it was sometime within the last few weeks so didn't think to look through any of the pre-December deals.

I think the deal OP has posted is reasonable, like others have said you can't possibly get FHD + SSD for $600. That said, this Dell (link below) was $640 following one of those 20% off Dell sales last month. It's probably slightly better value for the $40 extra given it's a 7th gen i5 and it had a backlit keyboard.

For comparison sake, there was also the Lenovo e470 (?) in November that came done to about $540 (i5 7th Gen, 14") after discount and cash rewards.

  • Just bought a 5 year old Dell Latitude e6420 for its i7 CPU and 8GB of RAM as my office work horse for $360. Might have been wiser to go with this one instead :P

    Oh well :)
