      • It sounds like it includes too much data for them

    • Additional Data - 1GB for $10 :(

      • $10 per gb wtf wow that would honestly suck. So if i go over I wouldn't be able to use any data unless I pay $10 per gb..
        for 2 years..
        i don't know about this one, sure is a hard decision

        • +1

          Check out the Optus deal on the front page then, with more data options.

        • wait, isnt that always like it??? i was once payed 430$ and 160$ bucks due to that. forget to turn on wifi…..

        • For $20 more you can get 12GB direct with Telstra.

          Pretty sure they have the standard S8 for $0 on the $95 plan.
          You can get a $10 discount if you port in or ask to speak to a retentions team.

        • @Thundaja: that is 105 for S8 and 115 for S8+

    • +4

      then go to Optus's $160 plan for 25% discount which is $120 per month with 100GB of data, you can ditch up the broadband at home too lol

    • +1

      There's a Large plan for what looks like $12 pm extra, which gives 8 gigs.

  • +3

    You can still use the 25% off from Optus but you need to pre order via live chat. Their 8GB plans cost $72.75 for S8 and $83.75 for S8 Plus.

    • Hi thanks mate, I ordered the S7 edge on the 85/mo plan and just talked to optus on the internet and they said to call customer support to possibly change my plan to the S8 for an extra $7.50/mo,im assuming that's worth it? However would mean I do not get the gear fit 2 but get the VR instead

      • Sorry, there's no 25% off the extra handset repayment? So would cost an extra $9/mo for 24 months = $216 in total, still have to decide if it's worth it over the S7 edge (the S8 standard edition)

        • Isn't this deal expired?

    • +3

      Optus will also let you exit with only handset repayments.

      • Can you please elaborate on how to do it, i tried looking but couldnt find anything.i am on a 24 month plan with optus still have 13 months to go.cheers

        • +1

          Depends if you stated your contract after they introduced their new system or not. That being said, I was on the old contract and made a complaint to the ACCC for unfair contract termination fees and they ended up waiving it so you could always try that.

    • thanks for this post - i hadn't seen that Optus deal, $72.75 for 8gb is a much better deal IMO, plus roaming available and potential to cancel contract and just pay out the phone after 12 months.

  • how to get 80 caskback?link?

    • +9

      24x$30(cheapest monthly prepaid for unlimited calls with telstra)=$720

      Galaxy s8+ outright = $1349

      Total= $2069

      this plan = $1656

      • Many prepaid deals are 28 days too. So then it becomes 26 vs 24. This deal is = to Woolworths $30 prepaid plan.

  • +1

    Thanks OP! Just ordered one in Orchid Grey, which, from what I've been reading, is beautiful IRL.

  • +1

    How is the network? Currently I am using Optus, which is the worst 4g network I ever used. I chose Optus because of epl but I would give up Once this season finishes. Yea, I will give up epl too. Optus sucks and ruined epl. I wish Optus broke asap.

    • It's great for me. Gets 4G where Optus is dead. Regional NSW.

      • +1

        The digital EPL is the best it's ever been, miles better than when Foxtel had it. What rubs you the wrong way about it, arsenal fan perhaps?

        It's not perfect by any stretch, mind you.

        • +1

          Sorry, I meant Optus coverage is dead.

          EPL is great! I'm a Liverpool fan, but I've been watching on Castaway through Kodi.

        • +1

          No doubt the Optus epl app is way better than Foxtel. BeIN sports was even better as u can watch every match at the same time, ucl ,series a, la glia….but once Foxtel purchased the right from beIN sports, I can only watched the scheduled match and can't select the other match at the same time.
          But Optus 4g is the worst. Too many times no signal or slow in metropolitan area. Pretty sad to watch illegal stream next season.

  • +2

    Good deal but it's $6/$10 more with Optus for 8GB, be sure 4GB is enough before signing up

    • +1

      No. I think your prices are incorrect. Some Optus reps seem to be clueless, some know what they are doing though https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/4568045/redir

      Discounts are only supposed to be off the plan, not the handset.

      • Yeah looks like your right just read mods comment

      • Prices still pretty good once updated $73/$84 need to think long term 4gb over 2yrs really would only suit very low end users

        • +3

          Yes, much better than paying full price. 4GB is sufficient for me because I'm on wifi for majority of the day.

        • @unity1: agree, rare to see good offers on new release phones these days..

        • I'm a heavy user, but I've been getting by on 3GB a month. I download/store locally music, videos and podcasts when on Wi-Fi at home.

          What do you mean by thinking long term? What is going to happen in a year or two's time that is going to dramatically increase mobile data consumption?

  • Does anyone knows what the promo code is from? like is it just the code of the employees' rewards card?

    • Think just give them the referral link

      • What referral link?…I meant the 10% employee discount

        • Lol I'm talking about the Optus deal sorry

  • cya in Dec again S8 ..

  • Anyone else having problems paying?

    I get to the last page, enter in my card details and then it says i have nothing in my cart?

    "There are no items in your cart at the moment. You can get started by selecting Continue Shopping"

    am i doing something wrong ?

    • Hmm, I got a sale tracked email from cash rewards and $2 was debited and then credited to my account.
      No email from Woolworths though.

      I'd say I didn't meet credit check or entered my some details wrong.
      When you put in passport number, do you include the letter?

  • +1

    For those worried 4gb isn't enough, Woolies does offer data packs that you can set to have applied automatically each month

  • +1

    Don't forget you can add a data pack on each month

    $10 1GB Data Add-on
    $25 3GB Data Add-on
    $35 5GB Data Add-on

    Edit sorry just mentioned above

  • Hmmm signed up to a optus $70 m2m plan not long ago. I knew the s8 was coming out…. but 4gb data ill pass…. its a good deal so far lite users of data.

  • +11

    Great deal. For anyone else that struggles to make it to the end of a 2 year contract, Woolworths Mobile's early termination fee's are pretty savage. You need to payout $50 x months remaining on contract plus the handset repayment. All the telco's have moved on from this, only requiring you to payout the handset. Still, a great deal, but 2 years really means 2 years.

    • This. Terrible.

      • This is changing next week according to their rep on whirlpool.

  • Is mobile network locked or could be used with Vodafone/Optus?

    • I also like to know if it is network unlocked or not.
      I want to make sure I can use it when I travel overseas.

      • +3

        They are unlocked.
        Cheers

  • +1

    my plan with vodaphone finally ended, HTC m9. 50+24 plan with 1G data, yes 1GB data.

    feels like a new man now.

    • +1

      The M9 is a beautiful phone though

      • dual speakers were my reason, coz i watch tons of youtube on phone. but now, the screen from S8 wow.

        • Don't do it, single bottom firing speaker is lame.

  • when does the deal end? im with amaysim. can i transfer my number? what colour is everyone getting

    • Offer ends 4 April 2017. They should be able to transfer you across.

  • +1

    Ordered one thanks.

  • -3

    How are Mobile contracts bargains BTW?

    • +3

      'a thing bought or offered for sale much more cheaply than is usual or expected.'

      • +1

        It costs more though…

        • +1

          Exactly. People pricing these plans don't factor in the phones price isn't a constant over 24 months, and the data limits for example are generally woeful. I always did the plan route, but realised a couple years ago and am happy for it.

        • -1

          @scuderiarmani:
          i upgrade each year, id hate to be stuck with a 2 year old android phone

        • +1

          @tuzii:
          Given I just bought my wife an S7 Edge half the price of launch a year later, and it didn't have to compete against a Note 7, this phone will easily drop that. 24 overpriced monthly instalments more like it. A small upgrade over the S7, combined with Samsung wanting to improve their image again, this phone is destined to drop price.

        • +4

          @scuderiarmani:
          why's everyone always bringing up this point
          of course the price dropped…. it's been a year or two,,
          69 over 24 months is $1656
          that's for galaxy s8+
          which will retail for atleast $1000 even after a year and a half (and that price is being hella generous, it's 1.3k at the time of release for s8+)

          and even if you use a plan or prepaid of 30 a month that's 720 over 24 months

          so bottom line with these deals, you get great price on a phone and you get to pay them in installments,,

          what's not to like?

        • +1

          explain?

          do people buy mobile phones and then proceed not to use internet data, make calls, text?

        • -4

          @jay0514:
          Cause your still paying an installment based on a $1300+ price. in 24 months time, this phone would likely be bought for $3-400.

          4gb data is pathetic in this day and age, what do you intend on doing with that? checking the weather and sending an email?

          I'm glad the laughable 1gb plans aren't getting a mention atm though.

          Break the contract when you want the S9 and let me know how good value this plan is.

        • +2

          @scuderiarmani:

          Yea but that doesn't factor in people enjoying the latest and greatest for 8 months to 1 year, until you can get it at a good price (probably from a grey importer in most cases). It's utility and there's value in that.

          With deals like this you have full Australian 2 year warranty, without having to deal with grey importers for after sales issues. Plus some people can't/don't prefer forking out lump sums. Plus you can still sell it as Aussie stock after a year for a decent price if you wanted to switch to something different.

          I can understand from a strict bean counter's perspective, you'd probably buy flagships 8 months to 1 year after release at the 20% off eBay sales, plus cash back, and going on a cheapish pre-paid or sim only or switching in between.

        • @hweita:
          I get that, and it's why I always leaned towards plans in years gone by.

          But given the stagnation of mobile phones in recent years, the latest and greatest is usually a few % better than the last model.

          And given the competition in the prepaid market, paying $23 a month for Kogan and getting 10gb data kinda makes plans like this look ridiculous. Locking yourself into a 24 month contract isn't good sense with so many options out there.

        • +1

          @scuderiarmani:
          ???
          no the carriers covers part of the phone fee as well

          that's why with carriers like optus, vodafone, virgin, you need to pay remaining amount of the phone repayments PLUS the part they cover as well.

          and for instance at optus they have a plan where it's
          85 + phone fee of 20 (but with 25% discount on the plan price)

          so 20*24 is the phone price = 480 (unless you cancel early then you'd have to pay out the part they covered too I assume, even then it'd still be cheaper)

        • +4

          @scuderiarmani:
          Early adopters always screw themselves. I mentioned to my wife last night.. Had it not been for my work getting me this phone, I would not choose it personally. Seems such a waste of $ for a piece of electronics. These devices will depreciate quickly.. The point scuderiarmani is making ..

          My thoughts:
          * Why be paying for something in 24 months at full price when it no longer has that value
          * You are locked in to a plan for 24 months
          * Rather get the S7 edge at a depreciated price (lower now)
          * Go on a prepaid ALDI for cheap
          * Buy the S8/S8+ when the price reduces
          * Sell your S7 Edge to offset against the S8/S8+
          * Rinse and Repeat

        • +1

          @KevinFine:
          aaaaand once again, you're not paying over 24 months the FULL PRICE,
          the carriers cover part of the phone cost and you're paying off over the 24 months period a cheaper phone price

        • @jay0514:
          By your example:
          $105 x $24 = 2520
          S8+ :
          $2520 - $1349 = $1171 (plan fee)
          $1171 / 24 = $48 per month for the plan

        • @KevinFine:
          I guess I wasn't clear?
          where are you getting 105

          25% off the 85 + 20

          so 63.75 + 20 = 83.75
          83.75*24
          2010

        • +1

          @KevinFine:
          I assume 1349 is the outright price

          2010-1349=661
          661/24= 27.5

        • @jay0514:
          Gotcha..
          Yep, see your point .. Carriers discount phones but have you locked in for 24 months (income guaranteed - that's business)
          I have a Note 5 to hand to my wife when my S8+ arrives.. I can see value in this deal to get her one also.. buttt - she breaks phones — so maybe not?

        • @jay0514:
          yep 1349 for the S8+ from Telstra direct

        • @KevinFine:
          income guarantee?
          well if you have the money to buy it outright….

          put it away in a savings account.

          and as I pointed out earlier, you can cancel earlier, you only pay for the remaining phone price, including the amount the carrier covered for you

        • @jay0514:
          also if people are hesitant optus has try for 30 days

          http://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobile/network/tryoptus

        • @jay0514: grey import would be around 900. Ill wait for that or I'll go for OP3T

        • @Braintrain1000:
          lol,
          ok?

        • +2

          @Braintrain1000:
          having said all this stuff, I'm still rocking my note 4 so I don't even know why I'm bothering with this shit haha

          but for people who want a new phone, it's a pretty good deal

        • @jay0514: thats right.

        • @scuderiarmani: S7 edge Australian stock has never dipped below 850.

        • @Autonomic:
          So? No one is forcing you to buy it locally. It's Ozbargain after all. The $230 saving far outweighs the 'risk'.

        • @scuderiarmani:

          Well what I'm saying is that you should compare like for like. No point comparing a telco deal containing an Aus stock device vs a grey import, unless you acknowledge the warranty problems. I'm sure a grey import S8 on launch would be a solid couple hundred lower too.

        • @Braintrain1000: remember you will be paying GST on that soon

        • @rememberme:
          I imported two new s7edge phones and never got a GST on it.

        • @Braintrain1000:
          July 1st the threshold of $1000 is removed. If someone was to do the same order after that point, they would pay GST.

        • +1

          @scuderiarmani:
          Your logic doesn't make any sense. Whether you buy outright or on plan, you're buying a depreciating asset.
          The only comparison you can make is to how much it costs to buy outright right now and it's far better to get it on this plan than outright. You're effectively saying this is not a good deal because the phone will be cheaper in 12 months. thanks for stating the obvious.

          Btw i haven't been on plan for more than 8 years because it's cheaper but this offer is still a good deal for a new release phone

        • @djc926:
          4gb data alone makes this deal average. You can get 10gb with Kogan and get the phone and still be in front.

          With the ability to do whatever you like in 12 months not 24.

        • +2

          @scuderiarmani:
          Except not everyone needs ridiculous amount of data. I do just fine with 1.5gb currently lol I'm not paying a cent more for data above 4gb since i don't need it. I'm sure there are plenty of people like me .

    • +2

      Interest free handset (latest model) installment plus cheaper plan.

  • +5

    There is one massive problem if you sign up with Woolworth mobile. They do not have international roaming, so you can't use the same number overseas.

    • +6

      Depending on the person, that problem might range from massive all the way down to inconsequential, but thanks for mentioning it for those who it might effect.

    • +2

      Not massive. Most people couldn't care less about roaming.

      • Well I must be in the minority because that's a deal breaker for me.

        • Yup same here.

          $5/day seamless international roaming is why I love Vodafone.

  • Wouldn't you know it my old Optass plan just expired and my Z3 is dying, this is great!!
