    • yep :)

      • how to claim to staff discount?

        • put in your everyday rewards number

        • @bghunter: Into the promo code section or is it later in checkout? I've entered it in the promo code and only received an error.

        • @brendanAUS: into the everyday rewards card field, i think it was the page after the promo code

        • @brendanAUS: I did it yesterday, enter it in the Everyday Rewards number section :)

        • @McBribbles: thanks guys I was stopping at the promo code page. Appreciate it

  • +1

OMG I wish I could also claim TRS refund on this but nope

  • How long does it take for cashrewards to track? Hours or days?

    • sometimes a week, sometimes instantly

    • Mine took less than half an hour to get the email. And it worked on both orders

  • Pulled the trigger!
    Couldn't resist any longer.

  • Im trying to select the plan i want S M or L and its giving me different pricing.

    S - 76/pm
    M - 84/pm
    L - 95/pm

    Am i missing something here?

    • Yes, click through to the next page and you'll see it has $15 discount on the M plan, taking the price from $84 down to $69

  • Few things I don't like about s8:
    1. Fingerprint reader near main camera (ideally fingerprint reader could be embedded in screen)
    2. Main camera stay unchanged (ideally it could have dual cameras with one super wide angle lens like LG G5, G6)
    3. Battery life concern: 3,000mAh on s8 and 3,500mAh on s8+, enough?
    4. … Ahh… can't think of any more, anyway, you can unlock the screen using Iris scanner, camera on s7 is still great and what a beautiful screen!
I gave up, pulled the trigger …

  • Am in a massive predicament here…

    1. want to pre-order the phone but for whatever reason I keep failing the credit check (I haven't missed any payments etc)
    2. can pre-order the mobile phone under my dads details but would then need to port my optus pre-paid phone number across which isn't in his name obviously

All signs and the difficulty signing up suggests i should just keep rocking with the note3…

  • Thanks op pulled the trigger and bought 2x plans for family members.
Thanks tightarse for the cashback offers. Tracked within a few minutes. Super service

    • Did you get 2 cashback on 1 account?

      • This

        • 2 different orders

    Give me 2C opinion.

    $1560 for $65 S8 plan.
    $1560-$101 (cash back)=$1459
Give this part of Telstra plan $25 per month value, which I don't think you can get from any other place.
    Total plan value is $600

    Phone value is $859.

1 Launching day to get S8 for $859, good value.
    2 INTEREST FREE!
Ppl forgot about magic power of Compound Interest!
Taking 5% of interest for example.
24 month, if you pay outright, interest you will be charged is
$859(1.05%-1)=42.95 if interest on first year is not payed off, second year will be (859+42.95)((1.05)*(1.05)-1)=135.3999 interest

    • Works well although I think the compounded interest over two years would be $88 and only if the interest rate was 5% which is a rarity. Most you can get from the bank is probably between 2 and 3 %. Theoretically I think that prepaid gives you more peace of mind however this deal is too good to pass. And given its more than 400 likes you would be damned to miss it.

  • hi guys, im a telstra customer with a finished plan, the S8+ plans for telstra is ridiculous.

    3gb plan for $97
    or
    12gb plan for $115

    what a rip off..

im intererested in this Woolworths deal as it is part of telstra network.

How do i port my number over? can i do that when i sign up?

    • Yes it will ask you after the credit check if you want to port your old number

    • +1

When ordering you select port number and insert your telstra account number. When your sim card arrives with phone it will have further instructions on how to start the port across.

  • Really trying not to get this as I'm on the old Telstra pre paid with Google credit. It's this deal that good?

  • If I signed up yesterday before seeing the whole Cash Rewards thing, do I have option to claim it now?

    • no

      • Bugger. Thanks for response

        • the only thing you can do now is to ring up Woolies to cancel the preorder and do it again but someone in this thread mentioned things stuffed up when doing just that so take your chance ;)

  • Keep failing credit check for some reason when using drivers license.

    • Yep getting same error

Did you end up calling them?

I might give them a call

      • I'm getting credit check- declined. Even though I should not have any bad credit history. Odd.

I'll give it a try with my passport to see if that makes an difference, if not I'll give them a call.

      • -1

Rang them, nothing they could do, no details were given to them as to why it was declined. Said to ring the credit report company to find out why, and they don't open until Monday. sigh

        • Use australian passport?

        • Yep, plus the person I spoke to on the phone said the credit checks last 6 months or something in their system. So basically I couldn't get one.

SO, I asked my dad if I could get it in his name lol, he said yes, but i'm paying of course; I can't really be bothered going through all these checks and balances with the credit report company (at the moment, anyway, as I would miss out on this pretty good deal). :P

        • deal ends Monday.

try calling up and signing up the deal through phone, give your license details

the credit report company veda takes 10days to send you a credit check.

        • @edBARGAIN:
          Cashback offer ends tonight though

Before people start bashing plans (or specifically this plan):

    • Wants it at launch
    • Wants AUS stock
    • Cannot afford / prefer not buying outright at $1199 / $1349
    • Prefer Telstra MVNO coverage (Own experience: Optus/Virgin too congested in metro, so-so coverage in country while Woolies more often than not stays connected, YMMV obviously)
    • Can get by with 4GB per month (comparable Telstra MVNO plans are around $30-$35 per 28 days/month)
    • Prefer unbranded for fast-track updates (It's a big plus for me. Pretty sure Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Virgin ones will be carrier-branded hence delayed updates - and for the geeks out there, no, not everyone can/want to flash a stock ROM.)
    • Don't need International roaming
    • Countries that you may call to happen to be on their rather small International minutes inclusion
    • Don't wanna bother with carrier-hopping using the many prepaid starter deals

Using the S8(non plus) plan as example:
    $65x24 = $1560
    less cashback $1560-$101 = $1459

If buying outright and use ALDI $35 plan (6GB Data) (IMPORTANT: Assuming you have the cash as opposed to using a CC and not paying off before interest accumulates):
    $35x24 = $840
    Outright = $1199
    Total = $2039

Using this active Mobileciti deal as a rough guide, let's assume you wait til prior to S9 launch next year:
Get S8 AUS STOCK next year @ $718 (keep in mind this time next year those ShoppingSquare/Kogan/Dick Smith eBay sales will likely incur GST unless they find a way to get around it)
    You save $1199-$719 = $480
    but then ALDI XL/L plan cost during the wait: $35x12 = $420 or $30x12 = $360
    Total saving for waiting a year: $60 / $120

If these criteria suit you, it's a pretty damn good deal. There's a reason why a mobile phone plan (and at launch nonetheless) can get 400+ upvotes on Ozbargain.

      Kogan/Lebara has $199 365days/360days prepaid voucher(Lebara's has 5GB up to 250min international call, Kogan's has 5GB)

I prefer getting a iphone 7 plus 128GB for $1200 and arround $200 mobile for a whole year.

      • Kogan/Lebara

Those use Vodafone. Woolworths uses Telstra.

        • -1

With Woolworths mobile, you wont get fully telstra network.

On my own experience, in sydney metro vodafone's network is far more better than woolworths's

        • +1

@John Kelvin: "Vodafone's network is far more better"? Here is a complimentary english lesson. In Sydney Metro, Vodafone's network is far superior to Woolworths.

      • +4

Personally, since September 2016, I've been using a Nexus 5X that costed me $325 and hopping prepaids every 4 weeks or so.

2016-09 Vodafone Contract Ends to Optus $10 ($30)
        2016-10 Vodafone $11.90 ($40)
        2016-11 Kogan $5 ($50)
        2016-12 Woolworths $2 ($30)
        2017-01 Vodafone $11.90 ($40)
        2017-02 Kogan $1 ($50)
        2017-03 Telstra Free Sim $0 ($2) -> Kogan $1 ($50)

Total Cost: $42.80 (bracketed is the starter pack's value)

It can always go cheaper. It's all about preferences.

        • same. Been hopping prepaids for about 2 years now coupled with a Microsoft 735 for first year and the LG G4 the last 12 months.. In the last 9 months or so have only paid about $2 for every 35 days for calls and data by means of the $1 woolies $30 starter packs and the $1 Optus starter packs ($10 packs that were at 7/11). Loaded up the trolley on both. Still have about another 15 or so to churn through yet ;)

      • And that's fine if you wanted to pay MORE over 2 years for an older phone on what, for many, is a sub-par network.

    • Well presented. It's a great deal indeed. Would have signed up for this if I haven't got the s7 from Optus 25% off deal

    • Thank you, your breakdown decided it for me. Just ordered 2 for wife and me.

    • What about those with a coles credit card with price protection?

  • Is this 4gb of data a month or 4gb for the whole two years? I couldn't find anything that expressly said 4gb a month on the website.

    • +1

      per month for 24 months

      • +1

Sounds right. Thanks for talking to me Eva Unit-01. I know you can only last 5 minutes ^^

  • So damn tempted to buy this but 4gb per month is nothing particularly if streaming music or podcasts. I need at least 6gb! Are all these 400+ ozbargainers not using data on their phone???

    • +2

Why do you need to stream everything? I have Google Music and YouTube Red. I save everything offline when on Wi-Fi at home, very little need to stream anything on mobile data.

      • I'm not home that much and just like the convenience of not having to plan ahead to watch whatever I feel like at the time. I still might just bite the bullet and get this…

    • +1

Well for me i'm on wifi fairly often, so the times i'm not using it 4gb should suffice for light browsing (scrolling through fb/reddit/ozb etc)/some youtube. And yeah, usually I would have my music saved offline anyway.

    • It's fine for me.. I rarely go over 1GB a month as it is.
If I'm at home or one of my work sites, I'm on wifi.
When I go out, I drive, so not using data there.

      • Oh wow guess that's how most people get away with it. However I chew up my data while sitting on public transport watching crappy facebook videos, you tube spirals, streaming podcasts, food blogs, iconic shopping. Constantly using GPS especially if travelling interstate too. hmmm I think I've just convinced myself only having 4gb for 2 whole years is too risky!

        • When you download the stuff you want to see each night when you get home for tomorrow to view, you'll find even 1GB is plenty.

You can get offline GPS like TomTom which is free for 75km a month.

  • +3

omg omg.. been eyeing this deal since it was posted. pulled the trigger! Thanks OP

Does anyone know what the estimated date of delivery is?

See you guys in Apr 2019

    Zinger out

  • I've got about 5 weeks left on my Vodafone contract, how do I go about keeping my number seeing as I need to order this in the next few days?

    • You pay out the five weeks even though you port your number…

  • I'm going to be overseas when delivery of this would occur.

Can i sign up and request delivery at a later date or have it delivered to someone else?

    • I called to ask and no you cannot request for the delivery to be delayed. It will be shipped out from the 28th. It will take 3-5 business days to be delivered and you have to manually activate but it may be activated automatically if you don't do it without 48 hours of receiving it. The person i spoke to said they can leave a "do not activate" note in the system but cannot provide a 100% guarantee.

If you cannot risk losing access to your phone service while travelling, i would advise against ordering it.

  • +1

Compared other plans around and even called Telstra to see what they'd be prepared to do to retain me. Best they offered was $10 off the plans they offered and extra data. Ended up going to Woolies for the $69 S+ plan. Wife is an employee so got staff discount of 10% made it $62.90 per month. Also used cash rewards for thexample $101 credit. Checked and already posted to cash rewards just not "comfirmed" till June 30 before I can get the cash out. So got a $1300 phone for $528 over 2yrs (currently paying $40 p/m for service). Not a bad deal. I'm thinking I may sell it to get the OnePlus 5 when it drops if it's proven better than S8+ and the S8 holds its value enough.

    • Did you have to sign up with your Wife's details to use the staff discount or could you use your own name?

      • Nope with my own name. I'm a nominated user on the staff discount as you can have a +1 on it. However I don't think they check on the account owner vs the Woolies staff discount card used.

  • Does anyone know what the deal is with cancelling the pre order if when the reviews come out it's not all it cracked up to be?

    • +1

You can't. Don't pre order if you don't want to take the risk IMO.

  • Is there any way I could get the Woolworths staff discount besides working there? Can I somehow use Woolworths gift vouchers to pay this off in full to get the extra 5% off?

  • Would I have to activate the Woolworths sim straight away, or can I hold onto it for 9 months until my contract expires?

    • This is not prepaid, you'd start getting monthly bills once you receive the handset

    • Post-paid SIMs generally activate themselves after 2 days of confirmed delivery, if you don't do it prior.

  • +3

Tempting but slightly too expensive for me, when I have a G4 that works fine.

I would buy if my staff discount card never got deactivated when I quit.

    • +4

      There's G4's that still work?

      • Yeah, mine has worked perfect for over a year. It's getting a bit sluggish for my liking but still operating fine.

      • My G4 is still perfect…

      • Mine died a couple of weeks ago :(

  • Awesome! Thanks OP. I was paying $20 with live connect for 1.5 gigs. Been using my cracked Note 3 too so thought it was time to upgrade.

Credit where it's due. The cashrewards cashback is awesome too! So thanks.

  • damn damn damn! I ordered this deal yesterday without seeing here for cashback. Have I entirely missed the CR opportunity?

  • +1

Interesting, unable to get past the payment details section. And i was told its because i clicked through cashrewards. I didn't volunteer that. She brought it up. I suppose they are trying to stop people from going through cashrewards?

    • +1

Same. I've tried 5 times going through cash rewards but none of the applications went through, but my bank account has all the $1 debits pending translations…

On the other hand the CR credit were applied even though none of the applications were successful…(been getting stuck on the payments page, tried two different cards..)

      • +1

hope you didnt do 5 credit checks.

did you try porting? wonder why it works for some and not for others.

        • The woolies people kept telling me to keep trying…

So I have like 5 $1 debits pending.

I'm an existing woolworths prepaid customer, trying to keep my number.

They couldn't pin point why it didn't work, but insisted it's not their system (woolworths)

        • @omnimaqq:

Yea i got the same response.

However they kept on insisting it was CR that was at fault, I just cant see how that could be.

  • Just out of curiosity what phone did everyone decide on? I went with the S8+ but now watching reviews there isn't many improvements with it compared to the S8.

    • I think I'll prefer S8 because the finger print scanner is harder to reach on S8+. Though I could use iris scanner.

Anyway the other reason is, S8+ would be hard to fit inside my shirt pocket.

    • +1

S8+ because I'm speculating that even with the bigger screen, battery life will be better than S8.
Currently using Nexus 6P so size isn't an issue since even S8+ is smaller than Nexus 6P

    • S8 for my wife (she's coming from an S6) and an S8+ for myself. I'm currently using a Note Edge and find it fits in my hand well so the S8+ won't be an issue. I also went for it because of the extra battery size, I think in the end the slightly bigger screen won't make any difference.

And I don;t plan to use the fingerprint scanner so thats not an issue for me really.

  • Thanks OP!

I really wish I didn't miss the boat on the Optus family and friends deal, but with the cashback on this deal it was too good to let go.

Pretty excited to try out the VR stuff and finally retire my super slow Nexus 6.

    • Nothing having to deal with Optus? Priceless.

  • Tried to sign up but it's $95 a month now. Did I miss the deal?

    • You're selecting the wrong plan. The deal is for the medium plan, you're selecting the large plan.

      • +1

Maybe he wants a Large Farva?

  • -1

Bit of bad news for those who jumped the gun to try it out early.
    http://www.theage.com.au/technology/technology-news/samsung-…

    • +2

      Google Assistant all the way.

  • So I just ordered this. First time using Cashrewards. I went to the Woolies site through the Cashrewards website, do I need to do anything else to get the cashback? Thanks!
