Too cheap. Think this will go faster than the QC.

    • I think you know a lot about computers, is this good for high school kid?
my sister broke her laptop and I bought one and thinking will return it later if it's not that good.

what are the advantage and disadvantage of the device?

      • It's heavy and not recommended as a school laptop. A Dell Inspiron 11 3000 will probably be a better choice. Maybe even the Lenovo E470 if they want something a little sturdy.

I would probably use this as a desktop given it's heft and low resolution display

        Deal is over now though.

        • Thanks for your reply, I already bought one. Couldn't resist the price.

How much is this Dell? And how about specs which is better if the weight not a problem?

        • @msmhw:

          oh, congrats on scoring one.

Hamza posted this 3 days ago. coupon still active.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/313796

CPU power is not as fast … maybe around a third, but it's 1.18 Kg weight and 10 hour battery life is a better fit for a student who wants to bring a laptop to school everyday.

        • @scrimshaw: I got a m3-7y30 4gb 128gbssd from the outlet for $390. it's nice for a portable.

      • -1

What do you mean "if it's not that good…." and under what terms of Australian Consumer Law would you believe you have a right to a refund?

        • I meant I will return it to the store without using it. As didn't have time to check if the deal/specs are good or not. Prefer to able to score one and think later about it.
Thanks to Microsoft return policy :)

  • Hmmm…

  • No SSD :(

    • +2

Easy enough to put one in.

  • +21

    1366 x 768 in 2017. PASS

    • I was about to buy but then I saw the crappy display!!!

    • +1

      "HD".. yeah, right.

      • +2

It actually is more than HD but not Full HD. 1280 x 720 is HD in video terms.

    • +9

I don't even know why anything under 1920x1080 (or 1200) is even available anymore… especially in an i7 laptop with 4gb of GPU ram…

      • +3

how to fool the uninformed consumer 101

    • +3

i was saying this crap in 2014.. cant believe it still gets said in 2017. phones dont even come with this crappy res

      • My watch has almost half the vertical resolution of this

    • +5

I don't understand why everyone is complaining about the display… This is a basic, cheap laptop.

I have an old Samsung laptop with a 1366 x 768 display, and have never had a single issue with the display on it, which is clear and easy to read and view videos on.

      • Do you know if it's possible to output at 1920 x 1080 if it's connected to a compatible monitor (e.g. via hdmi)?

I know the screen res is limited to 1366 x 768 but was wondering if you can bash out full HD if we use an external monitor.

        • +1

Usually can, especially given graphics ram.

  • +2

    Display
    15.6 in diagonal HD BrightView WLED-backlit (1366 x 768)

    no deal

  • +4

HD screen. are we still in the 90s?

    • +7

I don't recall HD screens being available in the 90s

      • +3

my PC monitor from 1997 had 1024x768 resolution. that's HD without being wide screen.

        • exactly. That really (should) put this screen in perspective

  • +21

OMG, someone bought 3 of this 3 hours ago at $899…wasted!

    Next.

  • +1

No SSD, SD as well. Cheap but no cigar.

  • -4

It's a pass to me too… Macbook Pro still going strong.

  • -4

Lol yeh nah. Maybe if I was still living in 2012.

    • +1

This coming from the guy whos avatar is from cs…

      • You mean the game that is constantly on the Steam list of top 5 games with the highest number of players?

        • -1

What does that have to do with anything?
The game was released in 2012..

        • @Originality: that game is older than the prehistoric age, the only reason it has that count is because its cheap and everyone can play it.

        • @lolzdj:

Yeh, that's why it has its own championships with prize pools worth millions. Ever thought it's just a good game? By your logic, all free games should have the largest player bases in the world.

        • @nurries: i can tell you right now that the reasons above are absoulutely why ' the game that is constantly on the Steam list of top 5 games with the highest number of players?' is csgo, i've had alot of experience, pal.

Look at that poor bigger who bought 3 @ $899 at 5pm today. Oh dear.

    • +10

May his wallet rest in peace…

    • Fortunately, he'll never know because he'll never do anything googling to get here.

  • No need at all… but still would consider if it is a dell model

  • Screen.. No deal..

  • will there be another mega deal?

    • +2

      Yes 1 more at 9

      • is it 6-9pm every Wednesday ?

        • this month only

        • @qwerty:
I know, hump month sale :p
I've been missing out these deals (Mavic and QC 35)

        • @aldoboy: I got my hands on the mavic, STILL not shipped which is pretty upsetting. :( But I'm kinda ok with it because it was that cheap.

        • @Dealinator:

How much was the Mavic going for?

        • +1

@onesimpleclik: It was the fly more combo worth $2199 for only $999.

        • @Dealinator: $949. :( makes me depressed just looking at it!

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/311540

        • @ash2000: It would not let me add the discount code, and it was selling quickly so I just bought it for
          $999

        • +1

          @Dealinator:

Clever. I've missed stuff b4 by trying to get codes to work. You would have been mortified if you missed out. I'm mortified I missed out and I only found out about that offer tonight.

I had to buy those bloody saucepans just to settle my nerves!

  • boy i would hate to be the the guy that purchased 3 today at 5pm for $899 each

  • Why would they put a megadeal on something which had barely any stock? It sold out in 4 mins.

    • +1

I bet none of these people noticed the resolution. 7 days later ****SURPRISE****

      • +1

yeah, lol, I would barely even be fine with that res back in 2009

    • Oh, and its back in stock

  • Back in stock

  • +14

    Too bad it's not:

    4k display
    1080ti card
    980gb SSD

    All for $450

Too bad.. We sometimes do get ahead of ourselves on this site lol

    • -1

      Nah, just 1080p.

      • +2

its not even much to ask. even 1600x900 would be ok.

      • yeah i think the theme in this listing is that 1080p is now the norm …… even getting hard to get a 1080p tv as many are now moving to uhd…….. you can add memeory or swap a he'd for an ssd but you can't swap the display……..

  • +1

That laptop is sporting the same screen resolution as my current 2012 Samsung laptop. I can't fathom who would want anything less than 1080p these days.

  • +1

187 units is a fair amount of stock for a laptop I'd say.

    • Might have something to do with the poor display resolution in a laptop with otherwise high end components I'd say…

    • Correction. 287

  • Damn another tech product but who uses 15" these days?

    • +3

What? Who doesn't? I'm pretty sure 15" laptops would be the most popular size sold.

      • I would say at least 80% of laptops at my uni are using a 13" Macbook Air or 13" Macbook Pro

        • +1

Same. I don't know why they don't use Lenovo though. At the airport it's a mix of macs and lenovos. All the execs seem to use lenovo when you actually need to do something productive other than photoshop or facebook.

        • @Gallifr3y: That may be true for Universities, but I think overall sales data would show 15" laptops outsell 13" ones. I see far more 15" laptops used in businesses than 13" ones. With laptops like Dell's XPS15 9550 / 9560 (which has a 15" screen size in what is effectively a 14" form factor) I think it will stay that way for a while.

    • +3

Everyone that's doing more than checking Facebook…

    • +1

it's too hard to get 17" unless you are into macs so 15 " is a big a laptop as is readily available .

      • Apple haven't done a 17" laptop since 2011.

  • +1

Every HP laptop I've had died within 2 years.

  • I think it's still in stock

  • wow that sold quick!

  • Gone Again!

  • Got one, the display doesn't both me, not at that price anyway

  • +1

i hope next hour will be something actually good

  • +1

    lol at RRP.
No SSD, not FHD, and GPU equiv to a GT920M (LOL).
Should be priced at $999 RRP IMO.

    • Should be around $800

  • Great price. I was at the checkout stage when I realised it said no PO Box (and probably no Parcel Locker). Hesitated, and then out of stock. Oh well…. waiting for a $10 cutlery set next to make myself feel better

    • +1

      its' back.

      • I saw! Refreshed page and got it at checkout stage! Thanks for letting me know

  • back in stock

  • At that price though with those specs couldn't you just use it as a desktop with an external display and still be miles ahead in value?

  • +1

    Back in stock

    • It's all the people who didin't complete check out i think

      • there's actually 550 in stock, they must have split the inventory into halves and scheduled it to restock 10 mins after the first batch ran out.

  • another 350 coming
