Bought a blue G6, I've been camping for a white one but the new colour looks very nice on those press shots.

  • Is DWI trustworthy?

    • +1

Not as far as warranty is concerned. Buy and hope/pray is the approach I would consider with DWI.

  • +1

I'm assuming the V20 has a removable back cover given the battery is user replaceable, and therefore the SIM cards sit behind the battery? Kinda don't like the hassle of always knowing you need a needle/pin with you when ejecting SIMS (especially for a SIM slut like me)

Then again it's kinda convenient not having to turn your phone off when changing SIMs =/

    • Looks like it's a yes to all:

      See Picture

      http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/09/08/lg-v20-first-impress…

The metal rear cover pops off for access to the removable battery, microSD, and SIM slot. It's not super difficult to remove, but it's also not extremely easy - the button doesn't give you much in the way of feedback.

      • Ah, thanks for that. I was trying to find a mention on GSMArena and couldn't find it there

  • +1

Be careful with LG phone.. boot loop issues. it wont go more than 2 years. Motorola on the other side is a beauty. I have Nexus 5x which i had the boot loop issue. Sent it for repair, bought a G5 plus 4 GB version. This is a great phone for that price. Crisp and Sharp. only downside is it doesnt have a compass. Not sure how many of you uses it. It has NFC which is great. no dramas at all

    • Be careful with LG phone.. boot loop issues.

We don't know yet for the G6 but a bit worry that is the reason why the price dropped so quick.

bought a G5 plus 4 GB version. This is a great phone for that price. Crisp and Sharp.

      But the camera?

  • God, I can't decide between all of these and the Xiaomi Mi5s… Am worried about bootloop with LG (My Nexus 4 has just died and had random booting issues throughout it's life).

I'm leaning towards Moto G5, though the The V20 looks nice, with nice specs though. The Xiaomi doesn't have an SD slot, which sucked with my Nexus 4.

    • +1

Go the G5 Plus, I'm loving my 4G version from eglobal ebay from sale last month. Also had Nexus 4 and LG G2. Both good phones, but Nexus was only 3G and G2 lacked both B5 and B28 that I need for reception in my area.

Love the dual sim + micro sd slot set up on the G5 plus and screen is plenty sharp and smooth. Clean skin too some extra moto bonuses that are actually really useful. Battery life is awesome too, all for under $300.

      • +1

Yeah man, I went for it! Looking forward to it!

        • Hands down one of the best mid range smartphones around, leaning to the top half for sure. If you can get the 4GB/32GB for around AU$300 getting great bang for your buck.

You will love it. Just make sure to protect it with decent case and tempered glass screen protector ( I even ordered a glass protector for rear camera for a few bucks ), maybe order them so you have them before your new shiny phone :-)

  • Heres hoping these phones are on sale next month. Going overseas. Want to claim TRS but still outside the 60 day departure.

    • +3

No TRS for these. These are grey import.

      • +1

Yeah my bad. Must have been looking at the officeworks, mobileciti and good guys deals before on phones.

  • looks like the G5+ are sold out now.

  • +2

    7 6 more Moto G5+ in stock as of now, (was 8 :) )

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BRAND-NEW-MOTOROLA-MOTO-G5-PLUS-X…

    • thanks, picked up one :)

  • I already received a tracking number for my G6, not trackable yet but that was quick.

    • When did you order your phone?

      • 11am yesterday (10/07) when I first saw the 10% campaign.

  • +2

Got too worried by the reviews above and requested to cancel my Moto G5 Plus order. Will wait for a qd_au deal since I've dealt with them before and had no issues.

    • Good idea. It's tempting but we need to collectively vote with our wallets when it comes to DWI.

  • +1

So, grey import, XT1685 is model sold in Oz. I guess this comes with a power adapter?

  • +2

eGlobal have a new V20 Black listing, it's $1 more but it comes with a 16GB SD card and USB-C cable so may as well grab it from that listing. eGlobal Central / eGlobal Digital Cameras are all owned by the same company that own DWI, so shouldn't be any difference.

  • Thanks. Just ordered V20, hopefully no bootloop issue like the previous models… Fingers crossed..

    • Just wondering, did u buy it from DWI and have u received it yet? I just ordered one rlly recently and patiently waiting for it to get shipped.

      • Ye, it took exactly 6 working days.

  • +1

Moto G5 Plus is out of stock by the looks of it.

    • Go for the listing with qd_au on ebay for $30 more but might be worth it for better warranty support if needed. Once you got it, you won't look back, great phone :-)

      • Closer to $70 more - and no stock of it?

I considered going the qd route too, but my hunt didn't show any stock. I agree it's only a marginal extra cost for a 99.7% ebayer, if you can find it.

        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-LG-G6-H870DS-5-7-Inch-4GB-64G…

        • I am waiting for qd_au to restock the LG G6~

        • ajm07

My comment was below the post about the Moto G5 Plus listed by qd_au ( same price and

still available as of now ), not the LG G6.

        • +1

          @ozhunter68:

          Fair call!

  • It says 296 instead of 278 after apply the code for moto g5 . Has anyone got any Idea ?

  • Dear all, bought a blue LG G6, still on the way. But BIG QUESTION here: how come there is a "BLUE" for H870DS when there are only 3 colors "Mystic white, astro black, ice platinum" ????
    Source:
    http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g6-8466.php#h870ds
    http://www.lg.com/hk_en/mobile-phone

OTherwise it is a LG G6+ (H870DSU) blue, but which is 128GB, cannot be true for sure…

    • And read above comments about DWI, I really have a bad feelings about this now… let me see how this goes when the phone arrives and will share with you.

    • Just new blue and gold colour for LG G6 H870DS~ I was going to pull the trigger too as I thought blue = G6+~

      • The code doesn't work for me on that

    • +1

LG launched a couple of new colours for the G6 alongside the release of the G6+ in June or July. I guess that mean that it should be a fairly newly manufactured phone, so IF any issues were present during earlier production (none that I'm aware of), they should have well and truly been sorted.

      • This is really give me confidence mate! Thank you. Still could not find blue H870DS on LG Hong Kong, but there is gold, which is new color! So maybe blue exists! And yes, if blue is the new color, it should not be refurbished. I had this bad experience from TaoBao (Chinese Aliexpress) for SONY experia Z ultra, LG G2 Japanese version, all found refurbished when I open the phone for fixing crack screen. But all working perfectly, all parts seems like original ones, I don't understand the meaning of that refurbishing…

        • Finally found blue of H870DS on Taiwan site, this is promising. Shipment info also quite responsive, should be soon arrived.

        • +1

          @kobe8tang:
I'm in the same boat, ordered a blue G6 and got immediate shipment so I'm very anxious to receive the phone. But I'm not back in the country until end of next week. Please update us with your experience.

        • @dracoknight92:

so the blues from dwi are shipping straight away?

I bought on Thursday (the platinum/silver) but no shipping advice yet. Hopefully they send it soon.

        • +1

@ajm07: I bought one in blue and it was with the courier (DPEX) within 6 hours of ordering. Yours shouldn't be too far away, they're probably just selling a lot more of the platinum ones.

        • My blue one just arrived. Looks really nice in this colour.

        • @aja12:

I bought on Thurs but still have no shipping notification.

When did you buy roughly where are you?

        • @ajm07: lunch time Thursday. Delivery to North Brisbane.

        • @aja12:

I would have gladly paid $14 extra for the blue if I knew it came with such speedy delivery! And it does look like a nice colour.

          Hope you're enjoying the phone.

        • @ajm07: Ta mate, hopefully yours isn't too far behind.

        • @dracoknight92: Sorry for the late reply. Got my blue one really quick! Just about 5 days from Hongkong to Toowoomba. The phone looks stunning and I have checked really carefully it seems flawless! I am a phone fixing technician and according to my experience, this is definitely a great deal. All three imei are consistent, on the box, on the back of the phone and *#06#. The box is not sealed though, I think originally it is like that. And bought a Spigen rugged armor case and it is also very nice! The system updated right away and got the new "face unlock" function, which makes it more flagship like S8.

      • they should have well and truly been sorted.

Yeah they should have but not always like the current G4 still have bootloop problem.

  • +1

G4, V10 and LG made Nexus 5X. Apparently the soldering material which used on the models, and causes boot loop, was changed with the V20 onward (I believe LG now uses more of a glue type material on the motherboard). Not to mention LG's emphasis on reliability at the launch of the G6. But hey, LG has a long way to go before restoring it's reputation.

  • Platinum out of stock again .

    • And back in stock. They have a truck load of these, but keep eBay stock relatively low and restock within an hour of being sold out. Sales tactic I guess?

  • +1

My 2x Moto G5 Plus have arrived. Super fast delivery via DHL from HK

    • Everything OK?
Were they new phones in an unopened box?

      • Never mind, just got mine all looks good and came with an Aussie power adapter for the charger.

  • I ordered the Moto G5 Plus in Gold from this. Was sent a 3GB model rather than a 4GB model as advertised. Anyone else checked if they were sent a 3GB?

    • Thanks for the info, mine is still not sent (ordered 10 Aug 2017 15:37:07 AEST) and I don't want this problem so I have requested my money back. Are you going to return it? Or maybe ask for a partial refund?

      • I've asked for a full refund. Let's see what they offer.

        • I was offered $10. They also said they don't have a 4GB model. If anyone bought one as part of this deal I'd be checking what you actually received vs. what you purchased.

          Screenshot:
          http://imgur.com/VPvBOba

        • @BrutusB: Agree with Brutus re. checking item, DWI have changed the ebay listing from 4GB RAM to 3GB RAM, (I took a screenshot of the original purchase).

Will be emailing DWI to cancel order since it hasn't shipped … and taking it up with PayPal if necessary.

Sigh … now got to look for another G5 Plus deal to suit the case/screen protector on their way :/

Seems to me that ebay should have a system similar to AliExpress in which a screenshot of the product description is made at the time of purchase, might cut down on this sort of crap.

        • @BrutusB:

Argh sorry to hear that :/

So you got the 16GB version with 3GB of RAM instead of 32GB with 4GB of RAM right? DWI changed the listing to 3GB of RAM but it still says 32GB of storage.

        • @hamza23: No, I haven't received anything but it's been 5 business days without any notification of either shipping or delay, when they specifically say "there will be up to 3 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) of processing".

Was prepared to give them a first time chance, (despite the warranty horror stories), but your post plus the horror stories puts a new light on it.

Like zagi I decided to err on the side of caution … for once.

        • @hamza23:
I did get a 32GB version but with 3GB of ram. Still deciding what to do? can I really be bothered shipping it back and the potential drama?

        • @BrutusB:

That's really confusing, in Australia the 3GB of RAM version only has 16GB of storage. See here and then there is the 32GB version with 4GB of RAM.

Now you have a 32GB version with 3GB of RAM, but advertised as 4GB initially :/

Most places are advertising it as 32GB with 4GB of RAM eg https://www.mobileciti.com.au/motorola-g5-plus-32gb-grey and https://www.thinkofus.com.au/motorola-moto-g5-plus-xt1685-32… http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Motorola-Moto-G5-Plus-XT1685-… but if I look at phone specs it is saying 32GB version only has 3GB of ram http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_g5_plus-8453.php#xt168… or http://www.phonemore.com/motorola-moto-g5-plus-xt1685-32gb/s… - What a mess.

Even on Motorola website it just says 16GB or 32GB and 3GB or 4GB without specifying what goes with what. I can only assume there is a 32GB version with both 3GB and 4GB of RAM, but I wonder how many were sold with 4GB of RAM advertised that actually have 3GB of RAM, or do they all have 3GB? Surely not.

I guess $268 for a 32GB phone (after the $10 refund) with 3GB of RAM is still great value, but if you are set on 4GB then return it, I would say it's best to go through eBay so it's all official as 'item not described'. If you wanted the 4GB one you could probably get it for $300ish next eBay sale with QD, assuming that's actually 4GB of RAM eg https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/319752 so you could look at it saving about $30 for the sake of a GB of ram, 3GB is plenty and you still have 32GB and it saves hassle, on the other hand it's only $10, yeah depends how you look at it :/ The 16GB/3GB version is $348 here if you look at it like that, 32GB/4GB over $400, if you wanted to grab local stock.

        • +1

          @BrutusB:
Really sucks to get less than what you expected.

Personally though I'd be happier with 3gb and 32 gb, rather than if it had been the other way around (4gb ram and 16gb storage) or worse, both (3gb and 16gb).

So $278 for the phone with questionable warranty but 32 gb storage, vs local retail about $350 with 16 GB storage. I reckon that's still a banger of a deal. My wife has the G5 Plus and it's a great phone.

Personally I've been using the LG G6 from this deal for just 24 hours now, and it's also a great phone! And although it took DWI a couple of days to ship my G6, once it had shipped it took only 4 days to be sent and arrive at my doorstep through DPEX.

          Good luck with your decision!

        • @BrutusB:

Perhaps there's a specific model number on the phone, eg. XT1685-??? or something that you can read and if one of the other guys who has a 4GB/32GB variant can also grab a model number?

In my case, I want the 4GB RAM to future proof the phone a little longer since I'm not in the habit of upgrading every 6 months, more like 2-3 years or when it dies … and if I get the 4GB/32GB it'll be the latter most likely.

Screw it, sent an email to Motorola asking what combinations are available under the XT1685 model in Australia.

        • @4wd:
Unfortunately there's nothing particularly identifiable on the box or the phone it's self.

          http://imgur.com/a/ToE09

        • +1

          @BrutusB:

Thanks, just got a reply from Motorola re. model XT1685:

          https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/8952/51502/2017-08-18_…

Australian versions are 3GB/16GB or 4GB/32GB … if it's different it could be because DWI have sourced the NZ or EU version which has the same model number.

In this case, I reckon it's the EU version since the Motorola UK site shows it as 3GB/32GB only.

          https://www.motorola.co.uk/products/moto-g-plus

EDIT: Just doing a quick search, I wonder if the PVTB specifies the market it's for?

        • @4wd:

Good work with the research, I think you are right. Why on earth would Motorola have the same model number for 2 different regions with 2 different specs? Isn't that the whole purpose of model numbers, to differentiate?

I think you are right about the PVTB. As from a search there is some talk of a P2A version for G4 Plus. I wonder what the AU 4GB/32GB version displays instead of PVTB.

        • +1

          @BrutusB:

I also got the 3gb ram and language was set to German.

It seems that DWI's $10 offer is to ensure they profit from what seems like a planned mistake. Perhaps they are doing a favour for their supplier by getting rid of old stock for all we know.

Have you decided yet on returning it?

        • @indomie:
I'm considering this at the moment. I've asked ebay to step in and see if they can help with the refund amount. I'm extremely concerned about sending the phone back to HK where they can claim the phone is/was damaged or there was nothing in the box therefore having a reason to not refund me.

        • @BrutusB:

Escalated the case to ebay. They've since upped their offer to a $30 refund. Let's see what ebay says.

        • @BrutusB:

Good luck. I hope you can avoid a headache.

I also asked to return the phone. Their $10 offer (followed by $20) felt wrong, even rehearsed, as if they would be difficult to deal with if there were any warrantee issues.

        • When I cancelled they offered a 16GB uSD card as a bonus if I didn't cancel … wow …

They did refund promptly, I'll give them that.

        • @BrutusB:

They offered me $10 and then $15 when I started the refund process. Did ebay help you get a better offer?

    • i received a 4gb ram version, said 3.6g available to use, which is quite normal.

  • +3
Merged from No Stock, Recent Moto G5 eBay Deal

Did anyone else fall victim to this? I bought a Moto g5 with the recent eBay sale and checked to see if there was an update on the expected delivery date to find that it hadn't even been sent yet! I msged them and they said sorry their stock hasn't arrived and offered me either a refund or free Kingston sd card as compo if I wait. I decided to wait as it will take another week or more anyways if I purchase a other phone… So currently I'm phoneless…

    • Read my and others experience above. They've admitted the model is actually a 3GB and not a 4GB.

      • Yeah, I started a thread separately to this. So no one has gotten the proper phone then???

        • it doesn't appear so.

        • @BrutusB: I've sent them a message through eBay asking them to confirm that they are sending the correct phone last night but they still haven't replied… Looks like I may have to cancel the order.

  • Is there actually a 4gb model available for similar price?

    • +3

$293.55 at QD eBay with PINCH5 code is the best around at the moment. That dropped $20 since yesterday actually.

I asked in a previous thread and 1 user confirmed they did receive the correct 4GB model from QD.

      • Looks like I'll have to purchase it from there then.

      • Thanks hamza23, went with QD.

      • Thanks hamza23, I also just purchased this one.

      • +2

Arrived 3 business days after QD posted it: 4GB/32GB
        Model: XT1685
        Version: PVTB
        Software Channel: retapac

I think the only way you're going to distinguish between versions of the same model is by the Software Channel, (retapac = Retail Asia Pacific), since it'll be different for anything else, eg. retin = Retail India, retus = Retail United States, retla = Retail Latin America, retgb = Retail Great Britain, etc.

That and the model number should indicate the market the phone was intended for.

        • I received the same with very fast shipping from QD. Happy I purchased from them.

  • Looks like I can't request a refund as they've marked it as sent even though it hasn't been yet. I've asked them three times to confirm that they are sending the correct model, but they have ignored my messages.
So I guess my only option is to wait for it to arrive and hope it's correct. And if it's not try to get a refund then… God this pissed me off. Ebay should fine sellers for doit shit like this.

    • The response time to messages can be terrible. I think it took them about 9 days to respond to my question, which consisted of me asking them when they were going to ship. They responded several days after I'd already received it.

      • Did they end up sending you the correct phone?

        • Well I bought LG G6, which fortunately didn't have any errors in the listing. The RAM and the storage was the first thing I checked.

        • Yep, they sure did and my V20(tho with express shipping) came earlier than expected.
