BenQ 28" Full HD VA-LED Monitor $159 Delivered @ JW Computers eBay

1470
PTECH20

Correct… not 1440p and not a gaming monitor, but you'll be hard pressed to find a 28" 1920x1080 with DVI, 2x HDMI and VESA at anywhere near this price. Enjoy :)

Good price. Tempted to replace my 24" and stick three of these on a mounting bracket.

  • That's a really good price. Tempting

  • Does it come with a HDMI cable?

    • +25

if you are in the area(Sydney Metro South) I can gift one of the $2 HDMI cables I got from Coles the other day :)

    • +1

Does it matter? They're like a few bucks.

    • +2

Listings on other websites mention a 1.5m VGA and HDMI cable being included.

  • Got one :)

  • +2

Is there much difference going from a 24" monitor to this 28" ?

    • +59

      About 4 inches :)

      • +6

some would say this is quite a difference

      • +1

Haha what i mean is can you see much difference with 4" extra of screen? Is it enough to justify the spending?

        • +3
        • +1

Assuming we are talking about two otherwise identical monitors, the measurable quality will be the same. If you are viewing from the same distance, you theoretically have worse perceived image quality on the 28" due to the slightly larger pictures, but realistically you will see no difference. If you have the money and space, I see little reason to go with the smaller monitor.

        • +2

If you've got poor eyesight, lower pixel density can be a good thing.

    • +1

      Huge difference

  • "Response time‎ 20ms, 5ms (GtG)" ‎
    What does this mean?
    Good for Netflix?

    • +1

Good for anything else except gaming.

    • +2

Someone will probably correct me, but GTG is a bit of a marketing term. Basically means it will take 5 milliseconds for a pixel on the panel to change from grey to grey. 5ms is standard for a lot of monitors and fine for basically anything except gaming as per devilishm's comment.

  • Thanks! Bought one as a secondary monitor for youtube and spreadsheets.

  • Thanks alot, this will be nice as a second monitor

Don't need it, but great deal, TA! +1

  • Thanks OP. This is perfect for my Mum, no joke.

    Cheers

  • I want this but…where do i put my other one then?? Got no room on my desk D:

    • Wall mount?
Get a monitor arm and hang it off the side.
Or a plank of wood to make the area of your desk wider for where the monitors would sit.

  • Tempting to upgrade my old 24" Benq E2400 which is a TN panel.. but still holding out for a good 4k monitor deal.

    • Get this, cheap as.

      • You think it would be a worthy upgrade? I am tempted.. price is good, but I can already see pixels on my 24" and really looking forward to a QHD or 4K upgrade with IPS.

        • It's a personal preference. Sounds like you'd really want to hold out for a QHD or 4K. In this case, skip this one and pursue your dream of a QHD or 4K.

My 17 yo stole my 24" Samsung which cost me $259ish back in 2010…this will have to do as a replacement. Bought, thanks OP!

  • I like that it comes with an integrated power supply…. rare these days

    • +1

really?? havent upgraded a monitor for a while and didnt realise external PSU is common now.

  • +5

Finally thought there's nothing else I need to buy than this happens

  • Does macbook pro retina look OK on this monitor, or need to go a 4k? TIA

    • +3

i'm using a 24" 1920x1080 and I can already see the pixels, 27" and larger i'd definitely want a 1440p.. Then again, this is only $160

  • Thanks so much for this deal OP. Smashed my monitor and have not been able to play PS4 in my room ever since. Was looking for a cheap replacement, this is nice and cheap. Sweet

  • Is this compatible with chromcast?

    • +2

I'm going to run a guess and say any monitor/tv with a HDMI port will work with a chromecast.

    Sold out

    • There are some other tempting deals on Benq at JW.

  • +1

    Sold out :(

I'm very sad, spent 10min trying to fulfil the order but my craptop kept lagging on ebay.

90 sold became 140+ sold & now all gone unfortunately. Better luck next time, albeit I doubt I'll found something like this for <$200 for uni work.

  • +1

    Damn it, missed out

  • +1

trying to pay but sold out :(

  • Same….. went to pay then sold out

  • Don't need it. Bought.

  • +1

    Awesome price

    Shame its sold out

If only it had 75hz freesync aswell

  • -5

ewww, 1080p on a 28 inch, that's not very good

  • +4

I picked a bad time to go get dinner.

    • -6

Yeah my monitor just died so i'm in the same boat, bit annoying seeing people grab one that don't have use for it but can't blame them really for that price.

    • Why you hurt mother nature?

    • -1

If they're going to use it that's fine. It's the absolute dregs of society that buy to resell that are the problem and the ones to be annoyed at.

      • +2

Well i posted with the possibility of helping someone out who missed the deal but got my comment deleted :(

        • -1

Yes, helping others by helping yourself no doubt.

        • @freemoneyhunter:

I offered to give it to someone else near me for the price I paid but had my posted deleted for so called private selling. Well (profanity) it, now if I do change my mind and decide I don't need it, finding a fellow ozbargainer near me is made harder and needs more of my time. Thanks to the mod ill charge $20 premium for time looking for said buyer.

    • +2

You missed out, get over it, welcome to OzBargain. You are no more entitled to anything than the next person.

      • -3

No, I was more needy, I had a genuine need, there is someone else who thought he would use them to setup a 3 monitor stand with them, boycott the seller.

        • +1

So what? If they want to buy two more to have three monitors then good on them, they got a great deal. Don't have a fit over not having been on OzBargain the exact time you needed to be for a popular deal.

  • Thanks for posting, got 2, so cheap!

  • Anyone with experience with these any idea how they fly for photography editing?

    Currently enjoying a Dell 16:10 ratio 24" - I think it's the U2412M - an old favourite of many.

Just wondering in case more stock of these pops up.

    • +1

Dont think a monitor this cheap is meant to compete anywhere near an IPS ultrasharp monitor

  • Bugger. Arrived too late. Hope they find some more stock! ;)

  • -1

    Got one :)

  • Can anyone point to similar alternatives at similar price? (Non-techie,need one for non gaming needs). Thanks

  • +1

that was some quick shipping. Mine just got delivered overnight

    • how is it?

  • +2

Arrived today in Brisbane. Not a bad monitor, not the greatest either. Compared to my Samsung BX2440, the colours are a bit washed, and the white is a touch warm. But for $159.20 - bargain. Came with a Dsub and HDMI cable. No height adjustment - sorted by using 3 old Robert Kiyosaki books. About all they're really good for :)

    • Hey mate, are you able to get the inbuilt speaker working? Mine is not outputing any sound whatsoever

      • Just quickly tried to change to "BenQ GC2870 (AMD High Definition Audio Device)" and no luck. Methinks the video card audio (AMD 10.0.1.1) may be conflicting with the mobo, or I haven't read the manual, or installed the monitor drivers. Worth checking those?

      • There is no inbuilt speakers man!

  • -2

I am laughing at the people who bought this as I have found a deal, $185 for Dell 27inch 2560x1440p.

I will post the deal soon, but I want to message the people who missed out on the deal to get a chance to buy one before the greedy people jump on it.

(Edit, opps noticed I can't message people, I hope they get a chance at it)

    • Hey mate, I'm one of the people that missed out. Any chance to know when you would be sharing? I'm in need of a monitor upgrade from syncmaster2333hd haha

    • Why are you 'laughing' at people that bought this? Have you read the comments in your 'deal'?

  • anyone elses monitor started to flicker?
