That seems like a great deal. Even kogan sell these for $999.

Kogan fans started negging? Lets see what you have got to post apart from neggeing without giving any reason.

    • +2

The base model (32GB, no LTE) was $610.40 AUD one year ago from Kogan. However, I am not a fan of Kogan. I would avoid buying anything from them unless the price is really really good. Apple products should be fine since Apple provide warranty.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/267261

Obviously, this one has way more storage space and LTE. However, the new 10 inch one is more interesting (better CPU, narrower side bezels, supports USB-PD fast charge).

      • why don't you like kogan?

        • +4

They have absolutely shocking customer service!!

        • +1

Yes, that… especially on their own branded products (and Kogan branded products are horrible in terms of quality).

        • ive bough t brand stuff from them …. samsung phones nikon and canon camera gear and never a problem …… their homebrand might be different as that is a design issue but their homebrand radios ive never had problem with.

  • Cheap price. Sad there's no 10 or 15% global code right now.

  • +3

    Tempting. Very tempting
Beem looking for one, will take the plunge.
    Thanks OP.

does the US lte bands cover us in Australia though? check that before you buy.

      • +1

Apple devices sold without telecom branding cover Worldwide bands

        • No Apple devices have any telecom branding on them.

        • +1

@jamesvdm: Sprint and Verizon do have their network locked versions of Apple devices like iPhone in US but yes nothing like that over here. Those network locked devices didn't have all the bands and were only meant for using in the US.

      • -4

I used this iPad in the US on 4G no worries.

I regret getting the pro 9.7 wifi. Should have waited for the -10.5. The 9.7 dropped in value super quick.

What is wrong with the 9.7?

      • +2

The 10.5 came out not long after, making it the first and last 9.7 inch iPad Pro. Which is kind of novel, it's got that retro iPad look to it.

      • +1

The extra 0.8 inch makes a big difference, she said.

The negative feedbacks don't install any confidence in the seller. A lot of "brand new" devices installed with hacked ROMs. Would you buy from a seller who's passing off devices with a hacked ROM as brand new?.

What does that have to do with this product? It's a seperate product and only a limited number of people complained. The seller sells a lot and has good feedback, I wouldn't have a problem dealing with them.

    • -2

There have been many previous deals from this seller if people had problems they would have started commenting by now.

    • +1

I read the negative feedback. I would still buy from the seller because there are no complaints about the iPads.

  • Will Apple AU honor the warranty?

    • +1

That's the thing about Apple. They know when the device is activated and they honour your device warranty. (Only if it was never activated, aka brand new)

      • I heard they only honor warranty for international Wifi models. If it's an LTE model, they'll say it was made for a different market due to the bands being different.

        • ^^ This is correct. Apple will not honour the warranty if it has a mobile network radio in it. The Aussie model is physically different and Apple couldn't replace it even if they wanted to, they don't keep overseas stock with overseas mobile network radios here.
If it was wi-fi only then you would be ok.

Also note this is a superseded model. The 10.5 pro is significantly better, so factor that into the purchase decision.

        • +1

          This is incorrect.

They will honour it but you won't get a replacement at your first appointment. They will order one in for you to replace yours.

I've tried it before with an asia 4G version of iPad was replaced here Inn Chatswood store.

I also swapped an Aussie iPhone in US store. They just order one in for you and pick it up after a few days (depends where your store is)

        • +1

@goraygo: Yes, exactly what goraygo said.

You get your one year 'international' warranty, but you can also buy Apple Care which gives you a two-year warranty (worldwide). Did this with my iPhone purchased from Kogan. Apple Care was purchased over the phone (just sent a diagnostic file to click which checks the phone not damaged). If you need a replacement, it is ordered for you to collect in-store.

  • If it is brand new, I.m pretty sure all apple have 1 year global warrenty…

    • -1

I think the global warranty is just on wifi-only devices.

      • Oh really, why is that?

      • because if you have a verizon or at&t model they wouldn't keep spares outside of the USA …… so need international versions of apple gear for global warranty.

Hmm…don't see the new iPad Pro 2017 12.9"

Hmm…don't see the new iPad Pro 2017 12.9"

Why would you? This deal is for the 9.7".

      • -7

Why would I not comment on something I need….duh!

Why would I not comment on something I need….duh!

Instead of being obtuse why don't you ask if anyone knows of a deal, post in the forums or go and find a cheap one yourself and post a deal here.

  • Is this 2015 or 2016 model?

    • +6

iPad Pro 2015 model = iPad Pro 12.9"
iPad Pro 2016 model = iPad Pro 9.7"
      iPad Pro 2017 model = iPad Pro (2017) 12.9" and iPad Pro (2017) 10.5"

    • This 9.7 came out 2016 (gen 1)

But the newer 10.5 came our this year (gen 2).

      • +1

I have the gen1 ipad pro 9.7, and the A10 chip is a beast. At this price, it's good.

        • +3

But the 1st gen ipad pro 9.7 has the A9X chip…

        • +1

@TrueshotGG: Oops, my mistake you are correct.

        • +2

          @foggy10:

The 9.7 pro also doesn't have the 120hz screen, which makes a big difference

        • @Knightelf: I guess it's one of those things where you don't know what you're missing until you've tried it, and I haven't used a 120Hz screen yet and to be honest haven't really found that it is something I crave, currently.

      yes apples new TV

  • Seems to have gone up in price, works out to $674 USD now.

    • Same here! price is not the same as advertised by OP earlier.

  • I's link working for others?

  • Any deals on the 10.5?
    Local support ?

  • price changed when trying to checkout on $599.00. I will not buy on this new price for an old model.

  • OP would you please update the price of this model since I believe it's gone up?

    • Deal is still available at ~A$850 delivered. Still better deal than buying in Australia. Cheapest on Staticice is about $1130.

  • Read some reviews on both the 2016 and 2017.

Does anyone knoe if their will be practical differences? Reviews seem to think 2016 can handle anything already thrown at it from the Itunes store

    • +1

I have the iPad Pro 9.7" and got my eight-year-old son a 10.5" 256GB model today to replace his iPad Air 2.

Both models have fantastic screens. We tested a few games on both, and they seemed to perform very similar. I think the 9.7" Pro would be fine if you can get a good deal on one (and much better screen than the 'standard' 2017 iPad 9.7").

I don't think there is not much difference for everyday usage. The bezel on the 10.5" model does look nicer though when the iPad screen is on.
