waiting for these listings to be pulled.

  • Don't forget 1.3% cash back with CR.

Put towards dongles for the DongleBook

    • +6

      DongleBook

      Sounds erotic.

    • Yikes I read that as DongleBack instead of CashBack because I saw CR. My brain is borked.

    • +3

Erm…how? This is just a followup post about a specific product, with a clear link to the original generic post. It's nothing that hasn't been done countless times before.

    • Don't dupe us jv.

    • Well what do you know haha

  • +3

my sister was after one… so.. ordered 2 of the iPads.

(just looking at what I paid for my Ipad Air 2 in May 2015… $619 @ Officeworks… they have come down in price). Given that I use the iPad everyday - I've got my usage out of them.

note - could only use Paypal

    • Yeah with coupon codes they only allow paypal. A minor annoyance but not too much.

  • +1

Ordered one last time this came up and it took 3 weeks to deliver

    • +2

      first world problems

      • That $1.7k price for the MBP 13" Retina/8GB/256GB… no-one would mind waiting.

I bought mine for $1.6k which was a steal, but that was in 2015 for the Superior 2015 model, no Dongle Life :)

  • "This code can't be applied to your order" - happens using Paypal on two different browsers. Any ideas how to fix this?

    • +8

Have you got an Australian registered Paypal account and does your Paypal and eBay email address match? That's the most common issue with these eBay deals.

      • +5

Thanks for the tip - I checked and my registered main postal address was my 'old' EU address; I had just moved back to Oz and had forgotten to update it to match my registered Paypal address here. Once that was done the code worked fine, cheers muchly!

Would this iPad be suitable for my toddler?

    • +48

Sure. It will match his Gucci sunglasses.

  • +2

    Wish they sold the Macbook.

  • Isnt the new ipad range 10" ?

    • only the 2017 ipad pro is 10.5

      • Ye my bad just realised

Lol those laptops are considered cheap? Really?

    • +1

      Yes.

    • +2

      You crazy?
      $1.5k for 128GB of SSD storage1
      bargain!

  • +3

In 2013 I paid under $2000 for my MacBook Pro 13-inch with i5 CPU, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD. In 2017 the price for a similar spec MacBook Pro is still the same. Think I will hang on to my 2013 model for a bit longer.

    • +2

Maybe salary sac a new one and sell the old one? You might break even!

      • +1

I can't claim salary sacrifice for my job.

  • +13

IMPORTANT! The $2999 laptop is not a 2017 Macbook

    It is the 2015 version.

Notice it only has two TB2 ports with two USB 3.0 ports and no touchbar
All 2017 15" Macbooks have the touchbar.

    • +2

Thank you, have fixed that up and added this specs link

      • also should be $2399 (20% off 3K)

        • Maximum discount is $500 unfortunately.

        • @hamza23: ahh yes you're right

    • OH? damm

    Waiting for iPad Pro 10" + 4G!

    • Also I hope it is space grey :P

  • excellent.. just brought a MacBook Pro 2017 13" $1759.20!! haven't see 20% off for a while!

  • … and macbook pro 13 inch 256gb with touchbar has just been pulled… :( ended 2mins ago.

    • +1

It's back!!! Both ipads and the 3 macbook's (including touchpad version) re back in stock!! They re-stocked at 3:11am - just as I was about to give up gogogo!!

All of them are under new listings!!

  • Thanks OP! Bought a 2017 MacBook Air (13 inch, 128gb) :D

  • Based on the SKU MPXQ2X/A, that Macbook Pro 128GB should be 2017 version?

    • Thanks added in.

  • Got a Gold ipad, no more Silver. Cheers OP.

  • Is the 2017 MacBook pro 128gb version ($~1519) good enough to use for light room, Photoshop and light gaming (StarCraft 2, team fortress 2)and general uni stuff WHILE lugging it around overseas? I'll be doing an exchange and traveling for one year.

Should I instead be looking at getting the 256gb version that is available? My main concern is the price difference - any savings is always good. Looking at the specifications - they both use the same graphics card - hopefully good enough for gaming.

I assume the weight of the new MacBook's shouldn't be an issue, as the specifications say they are just as light as the MacBook air - which is amazing.

Currently, I have a MacBook air 11 inch - and although I love it, unfortunately it seems that it isn't good for light room nor Photoshop (and gaming - which I've already tried to play on). Amazing little laptop for general surfing of the web etc.

Any opinions on this or even other suggestions is always welcomed.

    • I think you would see a huuuuge difference in performance compared with an 11 inch MBA.
But the biggest improvement for everyday use will be screen quality.
On the downside the battery won't last as long between charges.

So really it comes down to how big an SSD you think you need. Personally, if you can afford it get the biggest you can.

      • How long the battery last in reality? 10 hours is pretty decent tho

        • Ten hours for light stuff easy. About seven under more intensive stuff.
I get 13 hours out of an MBA 13.

      • Thanks heaps, what about gaming and weight? Would it be decent for games like overwatch? Nothing too hardcore - and I don't mind playing on low settings as long as it doesn't lag I'm happy.

It seems from specs its nearly identical in terms of weight, but I do get a little weary that it'll be heavier for some reason (prob get that feeling from seeing old macbooks)

        • Don't know, only that they would be heaps better than an MBA due to the much more powerful processor and graphics. That said, a 15 inch MBP with a discrete graphics card would be better again. Although, if your key priority is gaming, a Mac is not for you.
Get an MSI dedicated gaming rig or some such.

        • @entropysbane: Thanks for that! Yep I wouldn't use it for dedicated, just light gaming (if that), I was going to go for the 256gb SSD, but took too long to pull the trigger and now it's sold out. I'm not keen on the 128gb one.

Ah well, hopefully they re-stock but I highly doubt it.

        • @eltito: 128gb is definitely not enough, especially if you plan to play install some game. i.e Overwatch you will need to bootcamp windows as it doesn't run on Mac.

        • @Jayjay93: Yeah, that's true, didn't think about that. I guess it was more if I was bored I'd install a game, but to be honest I haven't played on a pc for years, I've got a ps4 and just play on that.

I only thought about it now, due to my 1 travels next year. For the price of the MacBook pro, do you know (or anyone else for that matter) know a good system to look into that's fairly light for traveling and decent for use with photoshop, light room, light gaming and uni stuff? The main thing I guess is not lugging around a monster of a laptop especially for travels.

  • Good price
    Thanks OP.

  • Wanna know if it is possible to claim TRS :)

    • Yes - you'll get a receipt - but you will need to take it with you to the TRS @ the airports within 3 mths.

now… considering where to goto in the next few weeks ?? (Did BKK only two weeks ago… looking for OzBargain flight deals :) )

      • +3

        within 3 mths.

        Wrong info, it's 60 days !!

      • +1

the cut off if I recall correctly is 60 days, so yes can claim but has to be done within 60 days of purchase.

      • this might have an obvious answer but does the name on the receipt need to reflect the name of the person applying for TRS?

        • Needs to reflect the name of the person traveling. Learnt this the hard way when I bought my father in law a dyson, we could not claim when he left the country.

        • @Souljarh: that's only if your invoice is over $1000.

        • -1

@hashtagbargain: hmm no. like I said, they declined as my father in law was traveling and I bought the Dyson V6 (not over 1000)

        • +1

@Souljarh: They shouldn't have! Anything over 1000 needs a name and address on it - anything under is fine. Is it possible that they declined because he couldn't show he had it on him? The item needs to be sighted - and if u can't sight it because you put it in checked luggage - then you need to get it sighted by a specific section within the airport that is located in the general area (i.e around the general check in area) who will stamp the receipt as sighted. I can't remember the name of this section but TRS workers are there too and sight things that will be put into checked luggage

        • @eltito: You are right that anything over $1000 needs a name and address, but the reverse is not true. If less that $1000 but has name on the invoice then it has to match the travellers name. I learned the hard way too.

        • @kanad: Ahh yes, that would make sense, annoying that a name was printed =/

        • @eltito:we went to the trs desk in the airport to get it sighted and stamped, but the trs desk after security screening declined to provide the refund, bummer.

        • @Souljarh: Wow, I would have made a complaint! It probably would not have accomplished anything - but if it's been stamped and sighted, no way should they have denied it. The other thing I can think of is if the flight is close (I think 30 or 45 minutes) they might say no? But even then, sighted and stamped, definitely should have gotten the refund - must have gotten a worker who was having a bad day =(

    • …and you have to get the the airport 3 hours early, and stand at the back of the queue of 350 Chinese tourists. I tried last time i flew, and gave up - not worth it!

      • ok.. 60 days…

And I was out there 3 weeks ago…. we went thru Sydney International in 10mins flat. I even found time to entertain one guy wanting to check my laptop bag for some 'bad explosive stuff'. And then.. there was no one @ the TRS (this was 7.15am). So much for the 3 hours and the fear and terror of the Libs.

As for the details - receipt needs to be in your name - and credit card used.

here's some others that have asked that question
        https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/713473

      • Did it twice at Sydney airport, I never waited more than 15min.

    • whats the point? don't you have to pay it back when you come in through customs? don't they cross check?

      • 'cross check' ??

what type of sophisticated technology do you think that Border Farce has to 'check' on purchases ??

        • idk
TRS is logged for computer leaving the country
coming in, passenger is picked out for checking on reentry

surely TRS would know whats up when people depart for short holidays to hong kong with 1x computer they claim isnt coming back…who exports tech to HK???

        • +2

@Lad92: I've claimed TRS 3 times - highest amount I was claiming TRS on was iPhone 6s plus when it first came out, ~$1200 and they never checked. I think as long as you aren't claiming a high amount (eg. expensive jewellery etc) then I think you should be ok, but in saying that, yes you suppose to pay back on re-entry.

In regards to the hours wait, I'm in melb and the three times I've done it I've faced diff situations, and this is my personal view:

First time - a breeze, waited 5 mins - no one was there. I was leaving around midnight
Second time - leaving around 3pm - line was pretty solid, good 1-1.5 hour wait.
Third time (6 weeks ago) - heading to europe and was leaving at 10am, line semi-decent (not too full or too dead) - time? 1hour! WHY? Because my girlfriend had used the pre-setup thing (where you download the app or do it online - I forget which) and you enter all the details and then you're given those QR scan box things. The idea is it speeds up the process, because you show the QR code, they scan, you show the items and off you go. If you have this QR code thing you stand in a different line. In theory it works well, but in person it's stupid because they have only had 1 out of the 2 counters open for this line (and it still takes ages), as opposed the other line (where you rock up with receipts and show everything) had two people working on it + two ladies at the start of the line checking receipts and items (think of it as a mini boss to reach the boss who will give you the $).

It was taking so long I ended up telling my gf to jump into the other line and told the lady I was doing the claim - as she wouldn't let my gf through because she had the QR scan code - gf was silly enough to mention that she had one.

So it's really hit and miss, I feel sorry for the workers at times - they deal with a lot of people who don't understand the system over and over again and can't speak english - I don't blame tourists though - especially if english isn't their first language, I just think the system overall is somewhat flawed and could be improved.

  • Is there much difference in the speed between the touch bar and non touch bar 13 inch models? Is it worth spending more for the touch bar ?

    • Non touch bar model has longer battery life

    • Not for me, but others love the touch bar. Not a lot of programs take advantage of it, but over time more appear to be.
Also, I seem to recall that the touch bar has ludicrous speed USBC ports all around, while the without touchbar model has full speed spec only on one side. Others please correct me if latest models aren't that way.

      • you can download BetterTouchTool which let's you custom the touchbar entirely from app to app. Damn amazing if you sit there and customise for your needs.

  • The iMac is an i5 processer, not i7.
Thinking about buying it, but there is no Fusion or SSD drive available. Possibly not future proof enough with a 1TB traditional drive…

    • I would pass on HDD only.

      • Bought it. I couldn't stand it if it got sold out and i was left scratching my head. Been waiting for months for a 20% off apple sale.

    • You can swap out the hard drive with any standard SATA SSD.
