can opal top up at bp?

  • I wasn't able to find any BP's with Myer or JB Gift Cards last time round…can anyone point me to a BP servo near South East Melbourne where GC's are available for purchase?

    • +1

was on bp north rd and poath rd in hughesdal 3166. plenty of myer n jb hifi gift card. ur welcome

      • Awesome to know many thanks!

  • Thanks boss. Just topped up last night but

    • +4

      But what?

  • Not sure why I can always claim these bp but didn't get the shell offer last time

  • thanks OP!

  • +1

Sorry guys for the not so clever question, but where are you logging in to check these offers? I've got a new nab amex card but not sure where to register for these offers. Any links ?

  • Thanks OP, just last week finished the Fuel vouchers from BP cash back promo earlier in the year!

  • Thanks!!!!

  • Thanks op, saved to my David Jones card!

  • +3

Thanks! Saved it to 6 of my cards! $60 off petrol!!

    • +2

Not sure why people would neg you. You are just making the best out of the deal. Not like you are buying something in bulk and reselling to profit or anything. Am waiting for EC to comment that he saved it to his 10 cards !

      • +1

        =)

      • +2

Theyre just jealous that they dont or csnt have thst many cards to take advantage of. Sour grapes

      • And i think for the broden-ing as well… Seeing that there's a 10,000 cards limit to this offer.

        • That is a fair point. Perhaps they should limit it to one per account holder, name or address and exclude supplementary cards. That would give more people an opportunity.

      • -4

Saved to 12 cards here :-)

  • Can anyone share the direct link? I need to signup supplementary card.

    • No direct link, this is a target offer.

      • I don't understand how it is targeted if there is no login on the Amex site anymore?

  • Got the offer on my DJs card even though I use BP all the time. Good timing as I need to fill up!

  • Thanks, this helps to offset the 3% surcharge that my local BP charges for AMEX!

    • Surcharge ? I thought they can't anymore due to recent changes by govt

      • +3

They can but they can only charge the actual cost they receive from the merchant. They can not surcharge $0.5 or $0.25 per transaction anymore

        • I'd bet they wouldn't be paying 3% either.. and if they are the person that negotiated the surcharge should be shot.

    • +2

My local BP or a few I've used never surcharged my amex. Your BP sounds dodgy, report them to someone.

      • I find that some BPs surcharge whereas other BPs don't as they're all franchises or something

      • +1

Report to who? Aren't they franchised? If they can support they are covering the surcharge, then that's all they need?

It certainly deters me from using that BP, as others (incl. different BP) stations around the area don't charge a surcharge.

  • So, not all no accept amex? First we need to go in to check that?

  • Out of curiosity does anyone's local BP accept tap payments for AMEX?

    • Yes mine does

    • Because you forgot your PIN?

    • Nope

    • +1

Out of curiosity does anyone's local BP accept tap payments for AMEX

Any BP with Quest terminal doesn't support tap payments as Quest terminal don't support Amex Tap n Pay.

      • Damn that's pretty much every BP I've ever purchased fuel from.

  • +6

Velocity points at BP too don't forget

  • -4

Only one off or multiple $10 each time you purchase more than $40 at a BP store?

    • +1

Pays to read what the OP has wrote.

  • I actually got it for the first time ever.

I never spend $40 on fuel these days though, so will probably not end up using it.

    • +1

Spend $10 on fuel and grab a $30 jb gift card and you're sorted.

      • Good idea. Had no idea BP sells gift cards. I've never gone to one.

  • No option for BP anymore so probably all gone. I have an AMEX Explorer so should be eligible.

  • Just registered my 2 cards - explorer and plat edge.

Make sure you swipe across to the supplementary card (if you have one) and save the offer to that too!!! Now have 4 cards with the offer saved.

    • +2

i can never see the supp offers in my account. always do it separately. what am i missing?!!

    • where do you swipe across? I am using the IOS AMEX app.

      • At the top where your card number is - if you've got supp cards

        • The supp cards are in the same name as your primary card, yes?

If they're not, they won't show up.

        • @Some Guy: the supp card on my account is in my wife's name. Thanks all for the explanation

    • Do you normally get targeted offers for both main & supplementary card? I usually only got it for the main card and not the supplementary card.

    • never works for me on targetted ones

      I have a main + 3 supp
main + 1 supp is under my amex login
      2 supp are under wifes

Only every see the offers for my main and the first supp on my wifes.

      • +2

Log out and back in after activating the offer on the first card. It seems to hide it on any other card after it's activated on one (Android app at least), but comes back after a log out/in.

        • yeah, no luck there for me
I did the main 2 this morning, still no sign on other supps now

        • @SBOB: Yeah it looks from other comments like it's gone, must have hit the maximum enrolments already.

        • @jasonb:

Though on previous deals, same story
Cant see them via the amex web site or app on the supp cards which are under the same email address.

  • Thanks OP. Got it only on my 6 Plat Edge cards, none on Explorer :(

    • 6 cards? How do you get that many?

      • +1

I have a Platinum Edge (as the account holder), had 4 supplementary cards (which is said to be the limit). But last month there was an offer to get 5000 points when adding a supp card by phone, so I did that and they sent another supp (I was quite shocked to be honest)! It arrived Friday last week so perfect timing for this offer.

        • You have 5 sups?

          isnt it max 4?

        • @Turd: Yes it's meant to be, but they didn't say anything when I added a supp over the phone, which pushed it to 5 supps as well as getting the 5k points bonus :) Not gonna complain about a free supp haha, one more step to Sydney property owning dream!

        • +1

          @MathNerd: haha lucky!!

      • +1

        Supplementaries, probably

        • Spot on :) Arguably one of the best features of the AmEx cards… no additional fees for them + can register each individually for statement credits. My wallet is now too fat to hold all my cards, I think I need a special AmEx wallet separate from my MasterCard/Visa/eftpos/cash wallet :P Any recommendations (if you have any that is)?

        • +2

@MathNerd: android pay or samsung pay or apple pay

        • @Turd: I have a Moto G4 Plus which doesn't have NFC :(
Maybe time to upgrade to a Moto G5 Plus then ;)

        • +1

@MathNerd: Yep, Daiso has pretty good card wallets. I usually buy my card wallets from there.

        • @MathNerd: are the supps all in different names or your own name?

        • @cheapfab: Primary is in my name (of course), first supp in my partner's name, second, third and fourth are in my name and fifth supp is in my brother's name :)

        • @MathNerd: Whoa you managed to get 3x in your name. Nice.

How do you differentiate them other than card #? Do you get them issued with different "displays" of your name? e.g. combinations of first initial, first name, middle initial, middle name, last initial (not sure if this is an option), last name?

        • @illumination: Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, my supp card applications must've been pushed through the system with complete automation rather than with manual intervention, as there would be no way they would've issued those cards otherwise. Counted myself very lucky indeed!

You've hit the nail on the head regarding the differentiation between cards. I have a first, middle and last name so various combinations including/not including the middle name/initial caused those 3 supp cards to be a success :)

  • +1

BP seems to be quite regular on Amex Offers.
Note BP Gift Cards available at $25 & $50 too. But check the store for stock.
    I will buy $20 fuel and a $25 GC = 22.22% rebate, or $50 GC = 20% rebate.

    • +1

As an ozbargainer why would you buying $20 fuel and $25 gift card? Why not $15 fuel and $25 gift card?

      • Yes I know. But its a bit of a trip to BP. Plus hit the pump for 5 seconds on 98 fuel and you are on $20.

        • +2

I'll hit the pump for 3.75 seconds then.

        • @Neoika:

          Did the Maths.

  • Thanks OP

After 40% discount on opal with vogue Amex offer

25% at BP is not a bad offer.

    • Which store did you do the Opal top ups at, just for future reference?

  • My local BP don't take split payments so if you need to fill up a full tank my tip is to do $40 at a time and pay for them as two separate transactions. Not all may be like this and may help to check before filling.

    • What's your local bp

  • Can anyone provide a manual link plse?

  • I have it when i log into my account but not when i log in to the supplementary card holders account. Is that normal?

    • Me too but normally I can register Supp Cards through Manual Links.

  • I can't see this offer. Is this only for Amex issue cards

    • +1

Same here, I can't find the offer from AMEX connect page.

      • Probably more than 10,000 Cards have saved the offer.

Argh, I can't find it as well.

    • yes it is for amex only
