Optus Sim Only $40/Month (12m Contract) w/ 15GB Data, Unlimited Local Calls and Texts + 300 Intl Minutes

1030

Edit: thanks to toons for pm-ing me, and multiple others in comments, many people have been able to get the BYO 12m contract plans for a further 25% off just by talking via web chat. That would be $30p/m for 15gb (some are getting with free EPL as well), and even for the 3gb plan ($18.75 p/m). Try your luck on web chat. Some people are recommending after 10pm (assuming EST).

Edit 2 thanks tonester - you can try your luck with $40 15gb w/Telstra via live chat (may only apply for students)

Sorry, phones and phone plans seem to be a hot topic rn
This is a one up on unco's post - Optus seems to have a new offer with an extra gig.

You get a huge 15gb of data up from 14gb. Looks like it's no longer online only as well, but it remains for new or recontracting customers only. (You can always try your luck instore or through web chat).

10% Discount with .edu email address = $36/month 12m contract (min. cost $432)
make sure your webpage is on https:// thanks kev go westie

$40/month on a 12 month contract (min. cost $480)

  • 15GB Data

Critical Information Summary

Notes: This blows this Telstra deal out of the water. $59 for 15gb; of $49 for 10gb? Madness.
If you're looking for something even cheaper, Kogan have really competitive high data plans, but I feel a bit more security with the big 4.
Virgin and Voda are currently $40/12gb
If you want something cheap, Optus' $25 / 3gb is also a great deal.

  • Succesfully acquired the 25% off $40 15GB + EPL + Unmetered Spotify. Done so by advising I am nearing end of my current contract and wishing to transfer, that I am interested in $40 15GB, and asking if any further discount is able to be offered.

Unfortunately I still have a month or so of credit left with Amaysim, and am on vacation November, so only wanted to activate in Dec - but you only have 7 days to activate. May have to take the hit of lost amaysim credit, and a month unused new plan. Unless anyone has any tips on a better solution?

  • This deal has been extended. Now until withdrawn

    • Are you sure this has been extended? I tried talking online and the 2 people i tried have both said it ended on 02/10.

      • On the optus website it literally says in yellow offer extended until withdrawn by us over the purple $40 15GB

  • Did any existing Optus customers make a change during this promo, only for it to not take effect? I've just checked my account and I haven't been swapped to the $25/m plan, and upon speaking to the rep, they have no record of the request being made (even though I have browsing history to show that made the request).

Worse still, the rep was unable to fix it or remedy it in any way, so I'm still on my lousy old $30/m 1.5gb plan :/

Can't speak for anyone else mate. I personally didn't make the switch.
See this recently posted, existing offer for $18.75 / 3gb which is a lot better than what you're currently on. Maybe you can try webchat again and see if they'll upgrade an existing customer. Some of the comments on this thread recommended talking to the reps after 10pm (EST) when they're trying to meet sales quotas.
Fairly sure the $30 / 15gb is still live as well.

Thanks chief, I'll follow up tonight. Rep last night was pretty unhelpful, to the point of me looking to ditch Optus altogether.

I'll Grant them this reprieve, see if I can get onto a winner.

      • Turns out they gave zero (profanity). So gonna take my number to somewhere else, closely followed by the NBN service, too, unless a similar <$20/m offer comes around for existing customers prior to Christmas.

        Lame.

Unlucky man. Port over to a Telstra deal like the JB one. Hahaha
