        • On a 100/40 plan? I consistently get 93/37, what I paid for with TC!

        • Haha 60/25 on a 100/40 plan… Definitely making me want to switch :|

        • @j4ck: maybe his on fttn, from the figures I can see on my modem best I can get is 50/30 but not many sell 50 plans and the 100/40 is cheaper than the 25/5 I'm on. Lol

        • So you are getting scammed on speed on your 100/40 plan, and you suggest it to other people?

          That is really sad.

    • It now costs $69.99 for contract and $74.99 a month for non-contract For a static IP address, you will need to fork out $80 a month and that's also a 12 mnt contract

      You got an early bird special offer but your offer is no longer obtainable.

      • yeah someone pointed that out. i live 4 hours north of syd and just checked speed with ookla. bit slow today 53mps down and 23up.

      • Hi Scrimshaw, I'm looking to switch to NBN soon as it's available in my area. Is a static IP beneficial for a non-gaming, streaming, youtubing family? I use a DNS for sports - don't know if that changes anything.

    • YOU CERTAINLY CAN GO WRONG WITH THAT GARBAGE ISP

      • Any examples?

  • +1

    I got this deal a month ago, can confirm excellent speeds! Highly recommend.

  • +3

    If a company is confident in being able to keep customers over the longer term, why charge setup fees?

    • Because everyone will always jump to the next cheapest option.

    I have been with Telecube now for more than 2 months. My observations on 100/40 FTTP plan so far:-

    • Consistent Speedtest results (90+Mbps)
    • Download speed on Usenet (NL/Europe) max our at 3.8MB/s. This is unfortunate as with Skymesh I used to get more than 7.8MB/s
    • Linux distro torrent downloads at ~6MB/s
    • Using Internode File Mirror my connection speed improved to ~10.8MB/s
    • Netflix crazy family watching close to 2-3 hours daily in UHD/HDR/HD content - no issues with Bitrate
    • Downloading games and patches on my PS4 - had to change DNS on my PS4 to point to Google

    At this point I am not too concerned if I am getting sub-par download speeds on USENET as this happens overnight on my NAS. Netflix was the main requirement - I wanted two UHD streams to run together in different rooms with occasional VPN\RDP for work and I am happy. I pay $5.50 for Static but I am thinking of getting rid of it as i am thinking of using Synology's own DNS free service.

    TPG FTTB is still the king, for people with coverage. Just sayin’

    • +1

      Eww copper 🤢

      • +3

        Fiber to building is pretty good for My parent's flat, better than my NBN .. always 90+

      • it's only copper from the basement of the building to your room i believe.

    • That's what I thought. Until a month ago my speeds literally halved to 50/18. Called TPG and they told me that those speeds are completely acceptable, and they refuse to do anything about it.

      I don't know how speeds can literally halve overnight and be completely normal.

      Gonna try NBN once my contract is up.

    • i thought all under NBN now ?

  • +6

    $99 setup fee kills it

    • agreed, get rid of the setup fee and I would consider it.

      edit: It's essentially the same as having a contract. Because we have to stay on for 10 months to break even compared to competitors.

    Buzztelco offers unlimited for $69 (100/40) without a set up fee.

    How is this any better?

    • +4

      BuzzTelco has shocking reviews

    • +2

      You might actually get the Internet. See Whirlpool for war stories.

    • What are their speeds and customer service like?

      • +1

        Doesn't exist

        Stay away from BuzzTelco at all cost!

        • ^
          They don't even reply even you complain to Ombudsman.

      • They are pretty dodgy. Speeds used to be good when I first joined (93 down on 100 plan) but since they changed backhaul providers without telling anyone it's not so good any more. Also on PPPoE now instead of Static IP.

        My download speed maxes out at 64mbps now which is still ok for the price but not anywhere near what it should be, considering i'm on FTTP as well.

        I've also done some tests recently and it turns out they are using Dodo xDSL which throttles Youtube speeds. Pretty dodgy there. I wouldn't be surprised if the internet speed is being throttled as well.

        At one stage they also sent out multiple bills to possibly all of their clients, so now everyone who has joined up with them is paid up for the next month or two, whether they like it or not. Apparently getting a refund on these overpayments is quite difficult as well.

        They used to have online chat but this has disappeared, gee I wonder why? I've also had support tickets go completely unanswered.

        To anyone considering Buzz NBN because they are cheap and boast a fast connection speed, I would suggest shopping around and going for a slower plan or one with less data. It's just not worth the hassle with Buzz.

        I'm seriously considering this deal, especially as it's only $10 p/m more than what I'm paying now.

        @Telecube, your offer seems really good. If I'm connecting FTTP in Central Queensland, is there a way for me to find out what my connection would be like?

        • You'll route through Sydney until we bring the Brisbane POP online next month but you should have full speeds. We currently don't have any issues with congestion in any state that I'm aware of.

        • @telecube: Thanks for replying so quickly, and thanks for the info! Now I just have to convince my wife :)

        • +1

          @Flamo: Jewellery or handbags always works with my wife :-D

    • er don't go anywhere near, i took up their last offer but delayed 2 months and decided to cancel.
      now i'm still waiting for the refund…..

      • If this is true please email support and we will get it resolved.

        • sorry should've made it clear don't go anywhere near Buzz

        • @garbagetnt: Oh, oops sorry .. should have looked at the thread more closely.

    • "masster"
      I'm on 100/40 with Buzz. I looking elsewhere after after the Disaster in September. No home phone after for a Month. No one seems to Care.

  • I fully back Telecube, they have the BEST SERVICE POSSIBLE!
    I wish I could go back, but trapped myself into Optus —"

    • +1

      what makes it the best service possible?

      • +1

        They reply to your queries fairly quickly via email and if you need to bug them over the phone you get to speak to the locally employed service people. They can;t do miracles but I know they will go above and beyond to get things sorted. They are a small company however so people expecting Telstra levels of infrastructure might be better to look elsewhere. I've been with them for about 5 years.

      • +1

        They answer the phone call within a few minutes!

      • I remember, when I was with them. They did go above and beyond in helping with everything I needed, from setting up the calls, to my NBN not being as good as I remember it was, and it was done within 24 hours.

        Yes they have a ONLY local call centre, or help centre, so everything was much more easier, and although customer service is normal for every company, Telecube actually made me feel VERY wanted!

        I can also vouch by saying, that when my Optus crap is finished, I will jump back to Telecube.

        My other reason is because, now that I am with Optus, my connection doesn't seem stable, and speedtest you can see my internet have peaks of highs and lows, but with Telecube for myself I have a internet that was the exact same throughout the entire day! Stay at the same high level, didn't bounce in speed.

  • How do we know if this available at our address?

    • Email support

    • +1

      We have full coverage nationally, if NBN is available at your premises we are able to provide a service.

  • I can't see any mention of a home phone. Is that what this is? If so what are the charges for calls?

    DID included with the service – including ported numbers (what is DID?)

    • VOIP phone number for your area

      A Direct Inward Dialing service provider delivers a telephone number over VoIP protocol including SIP, IAX2 or h323. This DID Phone Number will receive calls using a sip soft phone, hard phone, or an IP PBX.

  • data limit in 2017 again again and again

    • +3

      I would rather have an internet plan with a data limit, compared to having a congested 'unlimited' service.

  • Is this pure data without phone allowance? It mentioned about price for porting number, how about pricing for local and international calls?

    • Just broadband. They have PAYG rates for phone calls.

      • Thank you for your help sween64.

        I am trying to get NBN for my parents, but they reckon the unlimited local and international calls are more important for them from their ADSL2 plan at the moment. I guess it is hard to find the same phone deal with NBN at this point in time.

        • Would they consider having that phone plan on a mobile service?

        • @sween64: Which one are you referring to? Love to find out more options. Cheers for that.

        • @maogua: There are many service providers that have unlimited phone calls. Aldi and Woolworths are on the Telstra Wholesale network, they have reasonable prices and might include international calls.

  • +4

    25mbps = 3.125MB/s
    3.125 * 60 = 187.5MB/minute
    187.5 * 60 = 11.25GB/hour
    11.25 * 7 (12 to 7am) = 78.75GB/day
    78.75 * 31 = 2441GB/Month

    Is it legal to actually advertise this as 5000GB off peak? lol

    • And another 488.2GB for uploads!

  • Does anybody know what infrastructure Telecube use? Im currently with MyRepublic in Perth getting >90 download, 30 upload (who use optus) however ping ranges from 60 -200, whereas using TPG in the past had slow download but 1-7 ping (telstra)

    • AAPT from memory, so I believe the same that TPG uses?

      • thanks Dyl!

        • Note they may not use all of AAPTs POIs - they may only use Melbourne/Sydney or even in some cases just Sydney.

      • I don't believe TPG resell their network.

        AAPT and Telecube would just be a portion of it, or separate.

        • TPG owns AAPT, they don't resell their own network but they do resell the AAPT portion.

        • @dyl:

          Thats what I thought I said.

        • @samfisher5986:
          Sorry yeah, I getcha now.

          Overall AAPT has a Perth POI, so if it's the entire AAPT network it'll be the same POI TPG used I'd assume.

        • @dyl: We don't use any AAPT or TPG backhaul or links at all.

        • @telecube: who do you use? Vocus?

        • @dyl: Vocus backhaul from the NBN POIs and a mix of Vocus and Superloop transit for internet connectivity.

    • +1

      Vocus or Wideband. They have POPs in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne with Brisbane and Hobart to be added soon.

      • How long before Adelaide POP?

    • We have our own infrastructure hosted in NextDC datacentres in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth and use Vocus CVC backhaul and a mix of Vocus and Superloop transit.

    What are people downloading? I have a normal 5 day a week job, come home use the net a few hours and watch tv then sleep. Weekends, I go out have fun, watch a few videos online, tv, read a book etc, never used more than 100GB a month.

    • Would say I'm 150GB with a similar lifestyle.
      People like streaming, gaming and downloading I guess

    • If there are 3 people with similar habits living in one home thats' 100GB x 3 = 300GB monthly usage I suppose?

      My usage is probably around 200GB but running an Rpi server requires 100GB usage a month, plus 2 other Youtube addicts in the house which adds up to 500GB total.

    • +1

      A single PC game download can be over 50GB. Almost all my Tv watching is downloaded, even Australian broadcast TV is downloaded via ABC iView or a commercial catch up service.

    • dreamscene,
      Netflix

    I'd like to point out that there is a free setup option available which is $90/mth for 1000GB @ 100/40 .. just choose the 10% discount offer instead.

    Also in relation to the comments from those not liking the offpeak data .. we offer 1000GB per month during peak hours which is a better deal than other providers that offer 1000GB all hours. You essentially get bonus data with us outside of the peak times. If you're a high volume user the majority of your data will very likely be downloads that you could schedule to offpeak hours.

  • I'm moving into a new place in a couple of months which should be NBN-ready.

    Can I take a rain check?

    • +1

      Yes you can :-D

      • Who do I contact?

        • The current offer is running until the end of November, we'll probably extend it but if we don't email support [at] telecube [dot] com [dot] au and let us know what you would like.

        • @telecube:
          I'm getting NBN late next year……. how long of a raincheck can you offer? :D

        • @telecube:

          Also who wrote your website? Seeing stuff like this in the source:

           function forgotPass(){
          $('#tr-forgot-pass-1').fadeIn('slow');
          $('#tr-forgot-pass-1a').fadeIn('slow');
          $('#tr-forgot-pass-1b').fadeIn('slow');
          $('#tr-forgot-pass-1c').fadeIn('slow');
          $('#tr-forgot-pass-1d').fadeIn('slow');
          $('#tr-forgot-pass-2').fadeIn('slow');
          $('#tr-forgot-pass-3').fadeIn('slow');
          $('#tr-forgot-pass-3a').fadeIn('slow');
          $('#tr-forgot-pass-3b').fadeIn('slow');
          $('#tr-forgot-pass-4').fadeIn('slow');
          $('#tr-forgot-pass-5').fadeIn('slow');
          g('forget-pass-csid').focus();
          hideLoading();

          }

          Don't get me wrong, it just looks like a maintenance nightmare.

        • +1

          @misterpotatomato: It's very likely we'll always be running these offers so just check in closer to the time.

        • @misterpotatomato: Agree, writing code like that is grounds for dismissal

        • @megaton: Or perhaps some training and mentorship…

  • I only need ~250Gb data per month. Any good deals on a small plan?

    • We're offering 10% discount and free setup on all the retail plans

      • but your whirlpool rep says the 10% discount is not permanent and subject to t&c although no intention to remove it in near future.

        is that true ?

        can you make it permanent ?

        thank you.

        • Nothing is permanent, we don't do contracts and prices may be subject to change. You are not locked in and are free to move if you aren't happy with the service.

          Having said that we have been running the NBN offer on and off for almost 12 months and it's still going without any price increases. There's no immediate plan to change that. If things progress as they are I expect that we will be able to maintain this pricing indefinitely however I can't possibly guarantee that.

          If infrastructure pricing, operating or wholesale costs change and we need to change the cost of the services we sell we will do so according to our terms and conditions.

      • hi telecube, how do i get the 10% disc?

  • Got this last time it was offered. Couldn’t be happier. Consistent 100/40 in peak times on FTTP in Tas. Excellent tech support.

    Only gripe is that they have no SMTP server so if you have a bunch of motion activated IP cameras, home automation or other systems that email you, you’ll need to find another server. Interestingly my previous ISP’s SMTP server is still working for me even though I cancelled with them months ago.

    • +1

      Shhhhhhh…. Loll

  • Is there an Adelaide POP eta?

    • It's in the works but couldn't offer an ETA at this point. We need to get Brisbane up and running which should be late Nov and then we'll look at Adelaide.

  • I was with them for a month.

    I have PRTG monitoring my network and their bandwidth usage figures were significantly out. We're talking 30%. I moved to iinet in the end.

    • including upload ?

      • Yep
