Export Degreaser 400g $1 - Supercheap Auto

540

Always good to keep a can handy for when the inlaws visit

For anyone who doesn't know what this is, its a pressurized can of degreaser liquid. Basically a really strong detergent. You point it at something greasy, and the grease is washed away. I've used it to clean ovens before when I was feeling lazy, so it has applications outside of cars

    +1 for inlaws comment ;-)

    Great price too.

    • I honestly don't get the link. Please explain.

      • Old spray and wipe commercial reference… I think so anyway

    • Yeah probably works as good as capsicum spray.

  • +2

weakest degreaser ive ever used. its just diluted kero in a can and hardly cleans dirt, let alone oily stuff.
Save your money and if you want it in a can, buy the 5 star brand.

    • What about The SCA Heavy Duty 500g Degreaser? How do you reckon that compares?

      • Better, but you need to leave it on for a few minutes then scrub with a stiff brush. in my experience , anything that foams up like oven cleaner ( mr muscle ) is effective. Normally contains a caustic substance so read the instructions.

Use oven cleaner but as it;s caustic DO NOT USE IT ON aluminium or painted surfaces. THat stuff will eat grease and etch like nobody;s business. Thick tarry grease will fly off faster than Paris Hiltons undies.

I can second what nuno said, not very effective in my experience

I use it to clean my bike chain seems cheap and effective haha. Maybe not heavy duty but good for some use.

it appears as a bargain, but half way through spraying it runs out of aerosol and leaves half of its contents stuck in the can. So you end up buying 2-3 times more product, I find that its cheaper to buy more expensive degreaser.

      • Shake it well seems ok with me. Yeah still lil like 10% left in thd can but $1 i won't complain.

    • Where do you get the 5 star brand?

    • I buy this stuff by the box and find it to be effective for use on a leaky engine!

    • +1

+1, it's medium duty stuff at best.

  • Works for cleaning grease and crap off bbq? Or not food safe?

    • I think it will be ok as long as you thoroughly rinse it and then burn it off.
Disclaimer: I've used it on my bbq before.

Lol! Coz an Ozbargainer has used it, it MUST be ok. ;)

        • Username checks out?

Best bbq cleaning tool i have ever come across.
Its kept its shape and effectiveness long after i thought it would. Bristles dont bend and handle doesnt break like other brush types.
You dont want to be taking all the 'grease and crap' off fully as its actually protecting the bbq from rust. Probably adds flavor as well.
This tool is great at removing marinades from grill sections but i give the flat plate a scrub as well and it comes up fine.

      • its actually for weber baby q - cleaning the inside kettle bit. My grill part is actually fine.

The way OP described it sounded like i could just spray a heap inside the drum bit and all the grease and fat would just melt away into the drip pan below!

        • Ok. Fair enough. Not sure what this stuff does to paint work.
A degreaser i got from kmart once smelt like oven cleaner. Not sure how caustic some degreasers are. Paint work on BBQs would have to be pretty good you would think.
Next time you are at bunnings check out the tool. Cant reccomend it enough.

I blow the bbq grill plate with a pressure washer - works nicely.

        • Great tip considering I'm very likely to get one of the pressure cleaners currently shown.

  • Works OK to clean up the treadly .. :-) .. !!

  • Always good to keep a can handy for when the inlaws visit

Cheap enough to use instead of toilet paper, and great for greasy skid marks.

    • Ahhh, I know you love a good degreaser deal. What did you think of the recent deal I posted for you?

Keep a can in the kitchen. This stuff is SO EFFECTIVE for getting that thin layer of oil that coats everything (depending on how effective your rangehood is anyway!). Your Pine-o-cleen et al does not come close.

Also it's fantastic for removing sticker residue!

      This guy degreases.

    • I hesitate to apply it on cookware or anywhere near the kitchen and place we prepare and eat food. Have you tried baby wipes? Works well.
