Got a Harvey Norman "amazing deals" catalogue in the junk mail today. Decent price. The symbols at the end of the product description mean: colours may vary between stores and available online and in selected stores. I assume that means all colours for this price if in stock.

Spewing cos I purchased one for $449 from HN last week! Thankfully used gift cards obtained through amex deals so the pain is not so bad. Update: For anyone wondering I managed to get the difference refunded this morning using online chat (reference their 7 day price guarantee).

There's also some other stuff in the catalogue that looks like decent pricing, but not best ever like ue boom 2 @ $147. Google wifi $388.

      Thanks for this hint, got OW to price match over the phone and ordered and now picked up one. Got one for $326, not sure how OW reduced the iPad to this amount. This is around 18% off HN's price. Anyway am happy to have got one for this price. Thanks herbo.

        Is 2017 or air 2 the newer iPad?

        I look on wiki and I see iPad Air 2 has chipset A8x does this have the A9 chipset?

          This 2017 is the newer iPad. It's official name is just 'iPad' but we call it iPad 2017 on OzBargain to avoid confusion and mistags. This iPad 2017 has A9 chipset. This year they also released iPad Pro 10.5 and iPad Pro 12.9 (2nd generation iPad Pro), link with A10x chip. There is a 2015 iPad pro 12.9 as well (with A9x chip) which was released which the iPad pro 9.7 (1st generation iPad Pro)

          iPad Air 2 was released in 2014 according to wiki. There is also iPad Mini 3 that was released in 2015.

          2017 aka "iPad" aka iPad5 aka iPad 7th gen is the current model, with a newer CPU.

          iPad Air 2 is the superseded model which is lighter and has a better screen.

        Some stores won't let you do that. I can tell you that for my store if you want a refund that was paid for with card, it has to go back to the same card.

          That is NOT fraud mate. There are too many cases that could legitimate this. What if your account got closed in between using the offer & refunding?

          Furthermore, Amex can ALWAYS check with HN and find out what transactions got cancelled, then reverse the statement credits as they like.

      I refunded a samsung last year within 24 hours and my amex offer was also reversed. This could be different if you are only refunding difference? Let us know

    its a good deal for an "apple".. but sorry when you can get "smart" watches that take sim cards for less than $20.. (dz09) and way older tablets i.e. acer a1-810 (i bought it years ago off ozb :)) which can take a "micro sd card".. i just cant see the attraction IF your a heavy user of tablets.. so in short, i would only spend hundreds of dollars if i can expand the memory, and it take a sim card, just pointing this out to potential new users to tablets to explore their needs and other options out there..

      I used that price match during last year offer. Worked fine to get back the difference. But it was within 7 days when HN had their specials. Not sure if it's beyond, but give it a try. It's often depend on the one you speak too.

    Is there likely to be a better same price on this sometime between now and Christmas, apparently my 6 yr old has to have one for (public) school next year so guess what she is getting for Christmas?       This is a pretty good price, cheapest it’s been for a while. Especially good deal if you can manage to price beat at Officeworks. However, no guarantees that it won’t be cheaper than this before Christmas.

    Sorry for this novice question regarding AMEX cashback and HN, but what happens if you spend $400, do you get the $100 cashback straight in your account straight away… or how soon after?

    And what happen if I returned the item to HN for a refund afterwards? Do I get to keep the $100 cashback?

      The terms say it can take up to a month, often it’s about a week. If you return it, they will refund back to the card generally and the cash back according to the terms will be reversed as well. I have never tried this though, so cannot verify. Also, Harvey Norman charges a 20% restocking fee.

        My experience this year is that when you spend the $400 and then get it refunded, Amex has reversed the $100 credit. I then subsequently spent the $400 again - Amex online said still eligible, but need to request them to apply the credit manually.

      I bought an Ipad last weekend and got the $100 credit. Amex has no idea what you are buying and I doublt Harvey Norman would be allowed to pass that information onto them because of privacy issues.
