  • Damn, that's cheap. Unfortunately I'm an existing customer therefore ineligible.

  • Note this is a post paid plan too - which may or may not be an issue for some

  • Could you specify the expiry date please? Thanks.

Hi EC, can you get a deal for amaysim also :)

    • Will try

      • Thanks heaps EC, you are a legend.

  • Anyone know if you can disable automatic data top with Vaya

    • nope, no options on their site.
You could limit your data on your phone though.

  • if its an exclusive for Ozbargain why do we have to Groupon

  • +1

    Thanks OP
Can you get a deal on amaysim 6 months plan?

  • Vaya is the worst!4 months actually only less than 3 months and you do get charge before finish the third months as they are charging 1 month in advance.

    • +2

      What?

      • I think he/she is right - the last "3" month deal was only 2 and a bit months, I think they define a month based by calendar, had to cancel before a true 90 day period.

edit: the guy below me explains it better, next time I'll real the lot before replying.

        • I can only go by my experience, but I got the 4 month deal and have used 2 and my account shows as 2 months remaining so I'm getting the full 4 months.

        • @Scab:
          That's cos you're special Scab ๐Ÿ˜Š.
          Nice hat!

          @MishyMoo:

It's my celebration hat for the festive season.

          I'm going to party like it's 1999.

WARNING. it is NOT 4 months. They count November as one of the "months" lmao.
I just checked with the CS rep on why my account is showing only 3 out of 4 months remaining and here is the chat:

    Me:
I recently bought the vaya 4 month post paid deal from groupon and was wondering why I only have 3 months left when I haven't even received my sim yet?

    Vaya:
Thank you. Yes. I have confirmed that the groupon also paid for the month in advance.
That is why 1 month worth has been deducted. Please be advised that vaya is apostpaid service.

    Me:
So once I receive my sim, I will still have 4 months left? As in Dec, Jan, Feb, and March?

    Vaya:
    My apologies as Only February.
This is how month in advance do.
    Kindly bear with me
As we are a postpaid service.
Let just say that you wish to cancel on the month of March
That month in advance will cover up the plan charge on the month you cancel your services.
That is what the month in advance do.

be cancelling my account with vaya

the funny thing is I tried to avoid this problem by activating on the 2nd of december since I knew that if you activate for any part of a month, they bill for that month per the comments from the last thread. However it seems this doesnt matter since apparently the 4 month vaya pack already counts Novemember as one month….

        • +1

          wow, very misleading.
I did the same, ordered my sim card on October 26ish, then received the card on the 2nd of November.
I'm pretty sure the letter that came with it, mentioned that the plan will start X days from order, or when the card is used/activated.

    • -2

You would find that all telcos do this, so its not just them. Like the 28 day prepaid. Vaya still one of the cheapest around and very quick at fixing things if needed.

Discussed in current $9.95 for 4 Months of Vaya Unlimited 1.5GB Mobile Plan @Groupon

Warnings there this is monthly postpaid plan starting 1st of month, & watch out for excess data charges! So may not get full 4 months - but can be cheap!

Need to redeem voucher by 31/12 but may be billed for December anyway! Maybe able to order at end of month to port when SIM arrives to start billing in January??

But too many reports of terrible treatment by this company. Not for me at any price.

    Danger, Will Robinson!!

If you're not porting your number to Vaya, the sim card will automatically activate when they send it to you (so you actually don't get to choose your own activation date, and if you buy more than 1, they'll both be activated at the same time).

See other Vaya deal comments from OzBargainers from recent deals.

They do double-talk and act like you have issues if you question them. I wouldn't use Vaya if you paid me to. I told them how shonky they are and threatened them with the TIO (even though I purchased via Groupon, as they kindly pointed out). They coughed up the refund.

    Avoid.

    • -1

That's incorrect, you have to manually activate the sim when you receive it

    • +3

How amazing that my comment was neg-voted, even others have said similar.
      To the neg-voted:
Apologies for trying to be helpful here and sharing my Vaya experience. I'll need to think more carefully before being helpful in future I can see that ๐Ÿ˜Ž

      • +2

I had the same thing happen - new number was auto activated and I didn't get the full period advertised.

Nevertheless, I cancelled ahead of the first scheduled bill and got my moneys worth.

This isn't a plan for ma or pa, you need to be alert and watching your account. Cheap if you do, expensive if you dont.

  • +1

just be careful these are post paid accounts not prepaid. They will auto bump if you go over the data

    • Huh?

I got the last 4 month deal and excess data is charged at $10 GB.

  • +2

I had all the problems above. Plus was hung up on twice when asked to talk to a supervisor, about a few issues. Delayed my port out by 3 days, instead of 3 hours. Very rude customer service.
Vaya does not provide sms delivery report.

  • I activated my Groupon Voucher on 1/12/17 & chose to port my number to Vaya. I still haven't received my sim yet. I downloaded the invoice from Vaya it shows: Issed date 1/12/17. Billing period: 1 Nov - 30 Nov 2017 and it onlys shows Unlimited 1.5Gb $16, CR $16. Total owing $0
no where is mentioned about 4 months plan. my question is: Did I loose my November month? Do I just get 1 month plan not 4 months? anyone got the same situation?

    • +1

no. you will get 3 more months only. so dec, jan and feb. happened to me as well. check my comment above.

      • Thanks, got it. so I just ignore the invoice showing 1 month plan as well.

  • If you look at it as $2.50 a month for 3 months, it's a bloody good deal. Just be vigilant to cancel or port out on time.

I use these disposable SIMs in a cheap hidden and hardwired android in my car for GPS tracking in the event of theft.

  • Thanks for the comments people, it surely cleared things up.

  • +1

Iโ€™m at the end of โ€œ12 monthโ€ prepaid contracts where only 11 months is provided. Activated on 31/12/2016 and they count the first part-month as a full month even if it was only one day!

I would expect my current invoice for December to be for one day but it was for the whole month. I got a credit for an extra month by calling them. They are adamant that providing 11 months of service is the right thing to do.

    • Amaysim, their owner did the same to me.

  • So signed up and waited five days for SIM. Rang to check and guess what "technical problem" with sign up.
I just cancelled an will go back to Telechoice or ALDI.
So glad I got out in time!
