EDIT: Aslo add free delivery over $50 for effectively free post if you buy 2.

      • Damn, just spent $60 yesterday.
I'll walk-in next week, and see if they have any in-stock and still on special.

When I was there it had a discounted price of $57, fyi.

You will get the store credit as a refund for the price difference promise if you are a SCA club member.

  • Can this be used in a 2009 Mazda 3 (no sky activ, 5 speed auto?)

    • +2

What does your owner's manual recommend?

    • I'm running this oil in my sp25

      • May I ask, what year your car is and how many Ks its done? Thanks

        • 2010, 170k

  • D'oh just bought the oil last weekend…. ooh well… might as well grab one for next year.
    Thanks OP

  • Excellent oil !

  • My car needs 6l so have to buy 2 :(

    • Or buy 6 and have enough oil for 5 changes without any wastage :)

      • Good thinking but limited to 2 tho

        • +2

2 per store, 2 per visit, 2 per customer but never just limited to 2 :)

Get your wife/coworker/mate to get some or simply visit a different store :)

  • Is it 5L?

    • Yes it is

  • +6

That is ridiculously cheap - I got it for $44.89 on the last sale and could not believe it - closer to $70 usually.
This oil is great for modern German cars saving you a fortune doing an oil change yourself compared an oil change at the stealers dealers

    • When it goes on sale you can get 10L for $69

    • +2

It's classed at group 2/3 oil in Europe. Legally, not even classified as fully synthetic in Europe.

    • +1

my mechanic friend was telling me the other day that some parts/repairs done at dealers are significantly cheaper than what a few independent repair shops are charging.

      strange times lol

  • Is this good for a mk6 GTI?

    • It’s the exact weight and viscosity that’s recommended in the owners manual, so I’d say yes.

    • I use it in my mk6 R

      • I’ve always thought you need to use the 504/507 spec. The one that’s of course more expensive. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. Would be great if I could use this in my MK6 Golf R

        • The service manager at the VW dealership I take it to told me to use it so that's good enough for me. It gets changed every 5km anyway so I should be ok.

  • +1

Great oil, just wish the LL VW approved variant was this price!

    • May not be the long life variant but at this price you can change it twice as often.

Bought 3 using 15% off gift card and 6% cashreward which reduced the price to $71.

    • where did you get 15% off gift cardS ?

      • +1

I bought here rewardgateway.com.au, have an account with them through my employer

  • Could have sworn in the brochure somewhere that there was some deal if you got this, you got some kind of freebie or discount on something. Worth looking into maybe ??

    • Got a free shirt a month or two back if you purchased one on a saturday.

      • Oh lol, I must have been looking through the old catalogue not the new one :(

    • The cashier asked if I wanted a free hot wheels car, it looked just like a kids toy.

      • +2

free car is a free car :)

      • Actually, I think that might be it :)
Haha a free hot wheels car is a kids toy, but if its free then why not ;)

  • Pay with paypal for 20% off Amex deal

    • What Amex deal you talking about? I actually purchased it through PayPal using my Amex card..didn't get any PayPal offers from Amex this month?

    • I also paid via paypal with my Amex and did not get any discount. What do I need to do to get the discount so I know for next time?

This is a good place to start if you want to check compatability. Still a little lee way though so not definitive.

  • Phew I purchased 10w30 A5/B5 during club night.. still the same price..

  • Any good for a 4 stroke v twin motorcycle?

  • Can this be used in 4 stroke engines of lawn mower, blower or whipper snipper?

    • Can be, but why?

      • This is much cheaper than the oil specifically made for power equipment engines.

  • +1

Buy two and get free shipping!

  • Stacked with 20% Amex cashback on PayPal woohoo

    • What is that about?

      • +1

Apparently there is s targeted Amex offer for PayPal.

  • Bought 4. Now have about 12 bottles of 5W-30… awaiting the 5W-40 promotion now…

  • +1 but haven't seen yet the usual amex sms notification…

  • is this good for Honda civic 2010 ? Please any one suggest

  • My f**king cx5 needs 5.2L per fill

    The lowest common multiple between 5.2 and 5 is motherf**king 130 so do I buy 130/5 = 26 bottles?!?

    • From your experience or stated on the owners manual? My car's owners manual says 4.3L but 4L is already full.

    • Yes I think you will be ok echelon6. We had a Mazda 6 and changed oil for many years, always drained the very last of the oil out but never used exactly what was in the manual, always was a approx 0.3l to 0.5l under. Best to get 2 just incase and will probably do you for 2 oil changes.

      • according to various websites the diesel 2.2L requires 5.2L which includes the filter 300ml and the engine 5L

  • guess i'll use my clubday credit for this :)

  • Thx got 2 :)

  • Got 4, in 2 trips :)

  • I purchased one for $40 from REPCO couple of weeks back :(

  • +1

    $20 for Filter + $30 for Oil + $40 for mechanic and service done for = $90

    • -1

$40 for mechanic… hand in your OZB badge.

      • +1

I don't want to get under the car. I feel it might fall on me and there is no room without lifting it. Don't own a ramp too. Better than $400 at the dealership.

        • $400 at dealership = lifetime OZB membership ban!

        • @wtfnodeal: Unfortunately I have the 200K service next on the Toyota and can't do the $90 hack. It would cost me $850 for oil Change, Brake fluid flush, coolant, transmission fluid, spark plugs and what not. Not looking forward to it but its already at 205K.

        • -2

@El Grande: oil change and auto transmission fluid change (don't recommend a flush unless you are confident your transmission is on tip top condition) easy part. The rest you can learn from YouTube. $850 is a lot of money.

        • -3

@El Grande: You dont really have to change the brake fluid and coolant and spark plugs immediately if they are good(Probably another 20k). Just get the engine and transmission oil changed asap. Labor should be less than $150 and parts should be less than $150(Engine and Trans oil + filters).

        • -2

@Bnjam3: agree. Have you tested if brake fluid require changed? If not leave it there. Coolant if not changed for 200k maybe will i will flush it but thats only $150 if you BYO coolant concentrate.

        • +2

@Bnjam3: Why would you not replace any of those? Based on what? Where is the info?
Brake fluid should be changed to reduce the risk of your boiling point lowering. The minimum spec for dot 3 is to absorb max of 4% moisture content in 2 years,4% moisture content is about 40% loss in boiling point temp. Once you start boiling about 8% moiture content, you risk having your fluid boiling and your pedals go all the way and doesn't come back up.

Coolant lasting years is also very misleading, it's not the gylcol that goes off, it's the corrosion inhibitors. A car running at higher temps would theoretically be corroding faster than a cooler temp car. So the rate of your car eating up those anodes in your corrosion inhibitors are much faster.

Spark plugs should be replace once the gap exceeds 1.3mm, regardless on km travelled.

I am only posting this so someone else doesn't stumble upon misleading information and then accepts it.

This is the Castrol oil selection on their website to see if compatible with your car:-

    http://www.datateck.com.au/lube/castr_au/

    • lube her up!

    • …gay, my car doesn't take synthetic oil…

  • +1

Not suitable for Diesel engines with dpf

    • For my old Mazda 6 Diesel with dpf I use to use Penrite Enviro+ Engine Oil (5W-40). This use to come up on special every few months. Maybe check if this is compatible with your car.

  • To anyone who is still looking to purchase, may be worthwhile ringing your store to check stock. I went at 10 this morning and my store was already out of stock (supposedly 100+ bottles sold before 9 am).

  • Very good engine oil

  • Damn it they don't have 10w-40 in this Castrol Edge range. :(

  • Paid $49.94 delivered, for two, well chuffed!
