1GB of RAM – I’d steer clear of anything less than a 6S

    • Even the 6S was pretty bad on iOS 11 from reports I heard. The newest update may have rectified it though.

      • +1

Runs perfect on both my 6S’
Never had an issue from the day I upgraded to iOS11

      • +3

6s plus here - runs well on ios11.

Suspect 6 with 1gb would be "slow".

        • +1

Anecdotal. There was tons of people complaining about it on the iPhone subreddit.

          @theguyrules:

Have you actually got an iPhone 6s? I currently use an iPhone 6s+, our son has iPhone 6s and wife has iPhone 7+. I previously used the 7+ then swapped it with my wife's as I wanted 3.5mm jack. In my own personal experience the performance between 6s+ and 7s+ are not noticeable. So if you don't have one and you're purely relying on reports you read then your "anecdotal" statement is irrelevant. People always complain…

          @winthrop:
not sure what you are getting angry at.
Many many people have reported issues with it, I’m just mentioning it.
Regardless iOS 11 has been super buggy even on my iPhone 8+so it makes sense that it would run like crap on older devices.

I'm not angry I'm stating facts based on my own experience.

        • @winthrop: "performance between 6s+ and 7s+ are not noticeable" .. Wow what do you use to compare or benchmark these two different models?

I am using a 5S ! I noticed slowness after upgrading to IOS 11. What helped was reducing motion under settings

        Runs fine on an SE.

This is pretty old techology nowdays, and 32 Gb is not enough memory. I'm not sure how much longer Apple will keep updating the OS for this model. I still have an iPhone 6 plus, and it is a good phone, but I will be seriously considering and upgrade in the near future.

    • IPhone 6s plus 16gb - With all the apps and corporate email and apps I still have 7.xgb left. Not many photos though.

      • You obviously don't have much of a music library either. I wouldn't consider anything under 64Gb nowdays, I juggled stuff with my iPhone 4 with only 32 gb.

        • Correct, I use my phone purely as a phone and corporate\work stuff. Got some photos but that's about it.

FYI, I did not neg you. In fact I've not negged anyone in OzB. :-)

        • +2

@winthrop: water off a ducks back. I have no idea why people neg stuff but that is their problem.

        • I concur. I use up about 10gb with Spotify premium playlist downloads.

OP, I just checked the terms on the Amex offer. There are a few exclusions which unfortunately include Apple. Please update title accordingly. Thanks.

  • What is the AMEX deal with HN that often gets mentioned on here? Where can I get on that deal?

    • You can't. Enrollments on that deal have reached capacity.

Info on the AMEX deal can be found here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/340003

    • You can start with getting am Amex no fees ESSENTIAL card I. E., if you don't have one already. Amex have similar deals popping every now and then some are forgettable, others are good and few are true value. So all the best for the next Amex deal (suggest create a search alert)

Recently upgraded from a iPhone 6 to an iPhone 8 plus, the 6 was struggling to do basic stuff on iOS 11. Would not buy one for any amount of money, better off spending a couple hundred more for a 6s/7 at the minimum.

    • Agree - I handed my company owned 6 in for an upgrade as it was basically unusable by my lag standards after the ios 11 upgrade.

      • Thats why you shouldn't upgrade to 11 should just stick with 10

        • +1

          Pffft. Move on.

          6 - what a joke.

Recently bought the iPhone 6s Plus 32GB from The Bing Lee 20% off ebay sale, discounted down to $639. (With TRS, it’s $581). No problems with iOS 11.

I reckon it’s worth the extra money for the bigger screen and RAM. Worthwhile if Bing Lee pulls another 20% off sale during Boxing Day.

  • I'm saving my HN/Amex for a Boxing day bargain….any history of Apple phones being part of any post-xmas promo?

  • Unusable.

Get a 6S or SE at minimum.

  • +3

6s or 6 Plus as a min as both have 2GB ram; this 6 only has 1GB

Just upgraded from the 6 to the 8 because of IOS11 lag
