no stock anywhere in SA for pickup :(

    • Boo

      • yeah looking thin on the ground.

    • +1

$48.26 delivered for me. That’ll do.

  • +1

It's ridiculous these are cheaper than the Chromecast and Chromecast audios which have less functionality

    • +2

These can't plug into a tv and output video. (or audio to another speaker)

    • needs them to run..

    • different functions…

audio chromecast = plug into quality speakers to make smart
chromecast = same thing, make non wifi enabled tv sets into a smart tv.

Why? Google is making sooo much more money by selling you to third parties so that you lose money to them with the data these devices collect.

      • +2

Got anything to back that up with?

        • +1

          Tinfoil sales

      • just so you know…90% of the data going to Google is my daughter asking "ok Google, what does a duck sound like?"

        • +2

Or what does the fox say?

      • its more accurate to say, Google sell ads based on your data. Google would never sell your data to anyone, its way too valuable. . that's why Google hate facebook, coz they're better collecting information about us.

        much of a muchness though

Thanks OP - grabbed a couple as a last minute Christmas gift (to myself)

These are awesome! Got one with mum's new pixel 2 and they're way better than what I thought, amazing price also, great find stuhtb!

  • "Order service temporarily unavailable or invalid parameters in the request URL."
shows in my purchase history but marks payment status as pending? hope they approve it before stock runs out

    • Exact same thing here. I get that error just trying to open the properties of the item in my history, so I can't even pay them.

Did you manage to pay for yours?

      • Same problem here. Where are you guys ordering from? I'm ordering from the store in Tempe.

        • Not sure what the deal was but ended up creating a new account just for this.

      • ordered disappeared. have to reorder but then no stock :(

  • +2

    Couldn't resist at this price!

    • Me too! Impulse buy? If yes, christmas pressie! If no, christmas pressie for myself hahaha

  • +1

FML! The one I bought from TGGs a couple of weeks ago for $54 is still unopened. Bloody OzBargain! :(

    • +1

Return the unopened one for refund or ask for price guarantee.

      • +1

Someone was saying above that no store in SA has stock, so with the delivery cost I don't think it's worth it. Also driving to the store for price guarantee for around $10 isn't worth it either, so I'll wallow in my sorrow and add this to one of my many OzBargain lessons. lol

        • +1

I am in the same boat as you. I should have know using a 5% off coupon just wasnt good enough.

        • +1

@lonewolf: What do they say? We learnt our lesson. haha

  • Thank you, glad I didn't buy last week…

    • -1

Don't buy this week as next week will be $39

  • Thanks OP, got one!! great price

  • -5

glad to sell mine from the woolies deal for $50

    • do you know how maths works

  • Awesome! Just bought one. Now, what does it do?

    • +8

      when you get it.

      ask that question

  • +2

waiting for it to hit 25$

  • +1

Too bad it's not the black colour. My pocket money is safe for another day :)

    • The one I got was the black model.

  • Newby question: can it play requested audio?

    • Yes, you can link Spotify/Google Music up to it and then ask it to play a song/artist, etc.

    • Yes, Youtube…and also if you have a Google Play or Spotify subscription (I think some others too, like Deezer or Pandora, but I'm not sure). You can tell it to play the music to any Chromecast, soundbar, or wi-fi connected speaker in the house. I wouldn't use it's built in speaker for music, unless you're really not fassed about the audio quality…

I was amazed when I asked it to rewind by 10 seconds when watcing Netflix and it did just that!

    • You can use this as a destination, same as a chromecast audio.

So if you have an app on your phone and it wants to cast audio to a device, this can be that device.

However, it's only a simple, single, speaker with no other output mechanisms, so you are stuck with the quality as is.

You can also group this with other similar devices for whole home audio.

  • Wow, and I thought $63.20 was a pretty good deal not that long ago.

Hmm, do I need a second? Or do I get the main home and relegate the mini to the bedroom….

    hmmm

    • +1

hehe I'm thinking if to buy a third one…first one was $80…then got the second at $63.20…buying a third one at $43.20 would really bring the average cost down and I'll feel less bad

    • Main home downstairs, minis in the bedroom and maxx for the garage.

  • Picked one up. I've read you can control Kodi with one of these so eager to give that a try.

  • How is it possible that no store in SA has any stock?

    • South Australians care less about privacy ?

      hehe

      sorry had to add it
(i have about 5 google assistants)

  • Price match anywhere?

    • Dont think so as is ebay 20% off, not goodguys

  • Got one, thanks OP

  • Anyone else getting a 'code cannot be applied' error? I'm paying via Paypal but it still won't work.

  • Got one to give as a Xmas gift! +20% off with PayPal payment offer - so $34.56 (and 1% on cash rewards too I guess).

  • FYI

Seems to be plenty of stores around Sydney with at least some stock

  • SAme here i got error thatSomething went wrong. Please try to check out again.

    • No issues with the code here.

    • Worked fine for me.

  • My secret santa sorted. Gonna look like a rich dude.

  • My woolies reward hasn't even arrived.. they're probably waiting for the price to drop.

    • When did you order? I ordered the $300 deal from Woolies about 2 weeks ago and got my Mini Home today.

      • I finished the deal mid-November. Contacted them twice, maybe I should contact them again.

  • Apologies if this is a repeat question, could someone explain to me the difference between the Home Mini and Home.

    • +1

sound quality is only meaningful difference. Different touch functionality on top, main GH can launch assistant with a long press, this was deactivated on mini GH.

  • Giddy up. Secret Santa sorted.

  • +1

can't complete check out "something went wrong" :(

    • same here

  • Anyone else having trouble checking out?

    • yep, keep getting "Something went wrong. Please try to check out again."

  • Not deterring anyone but scary though. Hopefully, this is not the case anymore: Google’s Home Mini needed a software patch to stop some of them from recording everything

Just came across to this before buying: https://www.theverge.com/2017/10/10/16456050/google-home-min…

    • The software is automatically updated, as you need an internet connection to make it work.
So even if you tried to stop the patch the device wont work.

    • +2

To be fair, that was a bug that only affected some pre-release Minis and was fixed before they officially went on sale.

  • Serious question. What are people using these for?

    • +16

      Side note; bought one anyway.

      • +2

Haha what beautiful OzBargain mentality :D

    • +3

This question seems to come up everytime a Google home or home Mini deal is posted. Someone should put together a wiki

    • I mainly use it to open my garage, dim smart lights, etc.

Planned to buy a Google Mini today. Checked Ozbargain at 9.30am to see what's the best deal. Decided to go to Harvey Norman as they were selling it for $53 and I had gift cards from previous Amex deal. Went to pay at the counter and it scanned at $49. So was quite happy. Having seen this, I can buy it cheaper with GG Ebay click and collect but will involve a 15 minute drive to collect and the pain of trying to return the one I purchased at HN. Not worth the effort. And I already have one compliments of WW. (I should have got a second free, but missed out as I was too late). Things always happen for a reason, don't sweat the small stuff. And I know the recipient will enjoy it.

My main point (without the story) is that it is available at Harvey Norman for $49 if that is more convenient for some.

    • +1

      life story right here

    • HN Site says $53.00??
Do you know why its scanning at $49.00?

      • Sorry, no idea and I didn't ask either.

  • +1

The only place in the house where I have not had one was my bathroom. This deal has fixed that!

  • Anyone sucessfully bought in the last hour - keeps throwing the same error.

    • I just bought 2.

      • +1

Thanks. Must just hate me then.

      • I tried to check out and got the same error :(

Then look back the cart, nothing….

        Should I try again now.

    • Was doing the same for me even though the store I selected had stock. Tried with delivery and it worked.

      • might be the same for me - wanting to pick up, only 2 stores around Perth show stock 1 not far from me really the other way off .. would pay delivery I guess - though its dated as dec 29th.. a bit late.

        • Mine says 21st for delivery. But if it doesn't come in time, I'm just going to wrap a picture of the product and say pending :)

  • Just picked up one and returned it /swap to get the last Charcoal @ggalexandria.
