    Not that the ACCC will probably do anything but I reported JW Computers.

    I watched them jack the price of the ASUS PG279Q Monitors from 1200~ to 1241 (negligible I know - but still).

    When I sent them a message telling them I'd caught them out and asking them why, they changed the item to appear as Out of Stock even though my screenshots have it saying that there were 10 available and no additional purchases were made.

        Pricks! Reporting jw_computers wanted to buy the Acer predeator x34 monitor it was $1,427 20% off brang it down to around 1,117 now they have jacked the price to $1,494. How are they getting away with this

        Yes and no. Changing the price is one thing; advertising 20% off and then changing the price is another. The latter can be very misleading.

      You use PayPal and insert the code before you finalise the deal. But those printers are sold out so how are you purchasing it now?

          Have you paid already? It's complicated if you have so best to contact ebay and tell them what happened and they may apply the 20% discount otherwise you will have to contact the seller who may be willing to cancel the printer sale. But if he does it's unlikely they will relist again at that price as it's already half what other sellers are selling it for.

        I'd buy from PCCG just based on principle. These sellers just raise the prices so the discount only makes it slightly cheaper. It's not really 20% off at all.

    All these people crying because they adjusted their prices. It was pointed out that the seller wears 10% of the cost of these sales. In the example above with the X34 they increased their price by 2%. You are still getting it over $100 cheaper than anywhere else on the market, there is still bargains.

      It's more then 10%. They have to wear the 20% reduction themselves PLUS ebay charge them their regular fees on the PRE DISCOUNT PRICE not on the price with the discount.

    No need to complicate it:

    • Have expectations of around 5% off real prices when using the 20% off code and you won't be upset.
    • Make doubly sure the code is applied before paying otherwise you could pay 15% over.
    • Price check everything with MSY or similar. If no advantage don't buy.

    AU $3,371.48 for a 13" 256GB Macbook Pro with Touch Bar… 20% off makes it $2,697 which is $2 under RRP…

    I bought the same laptop for $2,429 at Christmas time.

    Never thought I'd join the price jack campaign until today.

    definitely misleading pricing. i bought a lenovo mixx 700 i7 LTE for $835 - 10% ~ $751. now it is $1088 - 20% = $870. ~$120 more than what i paid at 10%.

    I recently bought a Lenovo hybrid from JW computers when eBay had 10%off. I was bummed when I saw 20% off eBay including jw computers. But when I actually looked at the listing JW price hacked the item by 20% so now it's more expensive then the price I paid. I don't understand the eBay tactics. As always I rely on ozbargain if anything is a good deal it will come up here.

          So why doesn't the ACCC do anything despite the hundreds of people that complain each time there is a sale? Either the people are liars and don't make a complaint or the ACCC does nothing because this is not against the law. Maybe you should quote the actual breaches of the law?

          The ACCC has fined Kogan for doing the very same thing, the ACCC has limited resources so just because they have not gotten a settlement with an ebay seller in the last year does not mean it is not against the law (nor does it mean that the ACCC is 100% not currently going after someone for it)!

          Hell, a real lawyer on Whirlpool even advised a client that it is against the law! (and I would take the ACCC and lawyers word over childish contrarians!).

          Common sense has nothing to do with these laws and no-one can post the relevant sections that apply to these sales. Retailers can change prices as they have to especially in the case of the GPUs.

          Bait and Switch how? The goods are not advertised and it was not one retailer involved in the sale. How did the store entice you into their "store" with a price that was advertised that was not obtainable?

          It was and is advertised on ebays banner page.. It's the same as putting a sign on a store window saying 20% off everything..and when you walk in prices have been jacked up 20% as well.

          There is also a clear sale period as per the terms of the sale as per the above link with the participating stores clearly defined. The participating stores could have chosen not to be listed or not to participate. So they cannot deny or defer responsibility to ebay itself. Unless of course ebay did not do due diligence of disclosing the fore mentioned sale dates to the participating stores..(which is highly unlikely and improbable). But if that were to have happened, then those stores would need to litigate separately against ebay.

          Prices were increased within that clear sale period. When someone has a sale and advertises a sale, the common expectation is for prices to go down and NOT up.. This is why the practice is deceptive and is a bait and switch.

    Literally proceeded to check out with this 1060 here only to be notified that the price had been jacked up from $480 to $507 so it wouldn't let me proceed with the original price. Not happy

    EDIT: Futu literally just increased this by $50 as I was about to add to cart…

    shopping express/futu just jacked up the msi 1080 ti by $50 in the last 10 minutes. still works out to $10 less than the non-ebay stores, but it's annoying as i was just about to buy for $1070 and now it's $1120 :(

    Futo Online also price jacked.. 1080 Ti Gaming X.. It wouldn't be far fetched to think that they would have done the same for everything else. Personally I'd rather buy directly from a real store than buy a price jacked one online that pretty much works out to be the same price.

          I ended up settling for an Acer XB271​HU for $811.20 delivered knowing that it's definitely not the cheapest it's ever been. Needed a monitor urgent so bit the bullet. I wanted the IPS Asus variant of yours really bad but the difference in price to the Acer would have been a few hundreds or so even after discount!

    I had been watching an item from DCXpert since expiration of the last code and purchased it using the code today, there did not jack their prices - also they shipped it within 3 or so hours after purchase!
