    It's finally happened.

  • And the most useless tech of the year goes to…

    • +16

      Fidget spinner?

    • +4

      bluetooth toilet paper?

      • +3

I fully agree. The bluetooth toilet paper should have a camera as well. Otherwise, how am I going to be notified if I need to wipe more.

    • It would be nice to have a USB Toilet Paper Warmer.
Unbelievable these companies - do they want us to use cold toilet paper?

  • +10

Having your umbrella randomly opening and closing sounds like an annoying gimmick

    • +2

The internet of things just an annoying inconvenience? Sure you jest sir!

    • I've heard it has a feature that combats that problem. If you click it once it asks you; are you sure you want to open it.

    • Yes, I will neg that feature to feel better about the fact I paid a higher price delivered for an Oroton one this morning.

      • if you have a broken bunnings one do you need receipt to claim warranty or they assume you bought it from bunnings and not another retailer ?

seriously, i’m looking forward to a bunnings one breaking and claiming warranty …. reckon it will be such an easy process unless they have run out of stock.

    • This is not going to work properly in somewhere like Melbourne. The forecasts are just not accurate enough…

  • +11

I want to buy one, but my $10 Bunnings one just feels so much more OzBargain-y.

  • Comes up at $24.08 AUD for me, and that's just on the item page itself (eg before checking out). Am I missing something?

Edit: oh, I see, have to pay in USD to get a better conversion rate.

  • +7

Really, so if it's in your bag and decides it's going to rain soon, it'll just try to open?
I can't see how this is practical but would love to know more!

  • +2

Anyone interested in buying my xiaomi toilet paper?

    • +2

Can it dispense set amount of sheets so the wife doesn't use half a roll everytime she goes to the toilet?

      • +1

Hmm sounds like she have big hole. Need more paper.

    • Is the model name for your Xiaomi toilet paper called Dabian?

    • +1

swap it for my xiaomi butt-plug

    • Sorry, last time I bought used ones, it just didn't feel right in my hands.

  • +5

I bet you 500 eneloops that this will hit the front page

    • +3

I wasn't going to upvote but wanted to make you 500 eneloops richer

  • +1

Shows free shipping on the page, but when I add it to cart it defaults to tracked shipping with no option to change?

    • +1

Free Shipping is on the LITB App.

  • +6

Someone linked this in the other umbrella deal and I bought it.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Vanwalk-Travel-Umbrella-Windproof-…

No bluetooth but the other features are similar. The main difference is the double canopy which helps prevent wind damage. Plus the grip is more ergonomic.

    • Perfect, thanks for that :)

    • This Vanwalk still has the pointy ribs, less ribs and my double canopy vented umbrellas tend to turn inside out, (but without being damaged) all too easily.

  • +1

Thank you wikiwiki, so timely as a family member just said this morning they need a small umbrella.

  • +5

Please refrain from buying. This is the new price for the a new batch of stock, and I'm working with LITB to get the Free Shipping option.

Without free shipping this is currently not the cheapest deal.

    • +1

      There’s a free shipping option :)

    • +2

It says free shipping but when you check out it adds shipping.

    • +4

Edit: Free shipping is currently available via mobile link.

      Have plus-voted.

      • +2

Great work sky blu, was wondering if you had something to do with it.

        • +2

I wanted to wait til their IT dep fixes the shipping option as well as allocating sufficient stock for the next post, but they've gone ahead with the price change first. Will try to smooth out this communication issue.

  • Damn, I thought that Bluetooth connectivity is just a joke myself. If it is real, what sort of battery does it run on? Eneloop AA?

  • +1

Gearbest… getting beaten in their own space !

  • +1

OZB meme umbrella. Yet another way to spot an OZBer.

  • I presume that you already have to be holding it above your head when it decides to open because it's going to rain. Or do you wait for it to open then hold it above your head because it's going to rain? I can't think what the process is.

    • Nah, it’s not actually “smart”, it’s all a joke. It’s only automatic in the sense that the button opens and closes the umbrealla, or rather, releases it – you still have to pull it back into the closed position.

      • Oh, now I'm disappointed! Glad I didn't purchase it lol.

        • +2

Well, it would be a odd stupid concept – you'd have to walk around holding up a closed umbrella!

      • But but it actually says that in the LITB description it uses Bluetooth…

  • if it survives melbourne wind it would be great value …. they all work against rain until the wind kicks in and breaks them.

  • +3

    What a lame joke.

LITB decided to make fun on its customers. The bluetooth feature was taken from this post (the guy was just kidding) - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/354793#comment-5514659 and added to the product description. Are you guys for real?

    • Clearly a joke, but I didn't realise it was actually on the litb website. That's a bit much.

    • +1

LOL - are we sure LITB know it was a joke??

      • +3

I don't think LITB realised it was a joke, someone there must have seen all the plus votes on that comment and thought what a great description it was and copy pasted it in.

          • Plagiarizing? Never heard of it.
        • Thats what I think hahahaha

Edit: and its STILL there in the LITB description!

      • +1

:( my bad, always hard to understand these joke and thought it's the best description. so i ask it guys add this.

        • Will you remove it? It's still there

        • @Andweeb: i will inform IT guys update this today

    • Have to admit I thought it was real the first time. Realised pretty quickly it wasn't though as I would have heard of it.

  • Does anyone have one of these and is it any good?

  • -1

Anyone bought this junk? Or are we upvoting because ozb loves xiaomi so much?

  • Dang. Walked into small cupboard with one and it opened. Can't get out. Staying dry though, so it works as expected. Tech support has told me they're about to release new firmware, so sit tight until they push out an update.

  • -1

Shipping extra, "USD $ 8.85 (40% off)" and inaccurate product description on merchant page. Downvoting

  • No free shipping no deal, still sitting in the cart, tried mobile link but still trying to charge US$8.xx.

    • Still shows as free shipping.. try the app.

  • Received this yesterday, super impressed with delivery as it was only shipped about 2 weeks ago. No if only my other order from 1.5 months ago would hurry up and get here.
