Should check if your building has TPG FTTB. It's TPG's own fibre network (non NBN). It's really good but only available in metro areas in select buildings.

      • It doesn't sadly. Otherwise I'd be on it already! Moved in at the start of Jan with promise of NBN coming soon, decided it's not worth it to connect to ADSL for 30 days.

        • Ahh that sucks.

          Good luck finding a decent plan/RSP :)

      • How can I check for that?

  • "the *$69 set up fee will be covered by a $69 credit."

Guess the executive remuneration is tied to top line revenue growth. Hope the shareholders approve….

Do you have a POP in Perth?
Who do you use at the POI's: Telstra, Vocus, Optus, Wideband etc?

    • Sorry, Brisbane isn't connected yet.

  • I wonder whether it’s worth moving from ABB to these guys to save $11 and double my data. I’ve had no issues with ABB so far, speedtests are almost always 95/35 6ms ping. Lowest I’ve seen it drop was around 70 but it jumped back up the next day.

I’ve ran ping tests during gaming and have seen it spike randomly throughout my sessions but the average is always around 7ms. I guess what I’d like to know is the difference between the routing they take as this could improve my gaming sessions as I find I still lag during FPS games. I’m located in the ACT and the servers are in SYD, maybe ABB routes their traffic via another state before SYD? Wish this type of information was available somewhere.

    • +3

ABB is widely known as the most reliable NBN ISP in Australia, and the only one that specifically guarantees you won't have peak congestion. I wouldn't move even if they increased prices.

      • +2

I'm with Brad… They are rock solid during peak and yes they're more expensive, but they'll be around when all of these others won't be. Cheap internet in Australia is bullsh!t… And don't get me started on unlimited…

      • +1

Why not? You can always go back. But if the other ISP turns out to be just as reliable you could end up getting faster speeds for less money.

    • You can do a traceroute (google it) to somewhere and see where it's going.

  • I must say during october/november i was getting fed up with these guys, but i stuck it out and things got so much better in december. I actually signed up for ABB which took a month to process for various reasons, and by the end of it i canceled it since i was happy with the service telecube have been giving me. im on a grandfathered plan so i get 50mbit / 1TB for 59.95 and i must say im very happy with it.

  • +1

just in time after the ABB backlash

    • What happened?

    • +1

ABB slapped their customers in the face today.

      • +3

        TL:DR?

Edit: TL:DR - ABB have increased the pricing of their plans with the new structure.

        • By how much roughly? For existing users?

        • +2

          @sween64:

From what I've read, and the tests that I've done on my account (as I'm a current ABB customer), the price only increases if you change your speed.

        • +1

          @sween64:

You can stay on their existing plans so no one has a forced increase, but the new price points do represent an increase in many cases ( as well as a decrease in many cases too). There's definitely a lot of hate going on in that thread though, much of it for no good reason. The whole point of their new plans is configurabilty - its's as close to a custom plan ( ie roll your own) arrangement as you are gonna get from any ISP, it's just not at the price points some people are willing to accept.

If i remember correctly a while ago Telecube was actually wholesaling from ABB at one stage, is that still happening? If it is it doesn't make sense that you can offer for $70 what ABB sell for (now) $110.

      • +1

ABB are targeting customers value quality and are prepared to pay a premium for it. They are the ISP you can recommend to friends & family as 'it just works'.

        • +1

Which is what all ISPs SHOULD be doing. This race to the bottom price bullshit is the very reason NBN satisfaction is so low.

Why do people think they're going to get a good service for the lowest price on the market? That's not how something like internet works.

    • I don't get the ABB hate. All users are able to stay on their existing plans at the existing price indefinitely, if they choose.

      • +4

it's more about the data, ABB were previously offering double data for the first 6 months.. so for people coming off that promo they're going to be forced onto one of the new plans unless they're happy to stick with half the data they've become used to…. I can definitely understand how people feel like it's all been a big bait and switch planned from the beginning… maybe it is, maybe it isn't…

Either way, from experience the small premium you pay is worth it, I haven't had to deal with any type of peak hour congestion ever while using ABB.

        • +1

Yeah, I don't really get that either. I'm on the double data promotion too and viewed the double data exactly as it was intended, a bonus. I still signed up for the quota that I'll need after the 6 month period. I think it's pretty clear that ABB weren't offering it as a way of skimping for 6 months. But even if they were, that's the risk you take with no contracts. Whether you signed up to the "right" plan or not, price changes the following month are always a possibility. If you want to lock your price in, go have fun with Telstra or TPG and their peak congestion circus.

Like you say, even if I had to pay $10 more per month, it's still easily worth it for the quality and service ABB offer.

Good on Telecube for offering no contracts so they really need to put the quality and service where their mouth is. But I'll be sticking with ABB, for now at least.

Does anyone know if I will be able to get SkyMesh to price match the 1tb deal?

    • +1

Wanting to do the same. I know SM match the T&Cs like for like including any termination fees, etc.

    • +1

Let me know know if you find out :)

I'm with skymesh atm, but this deal is way better value

    • +1

SkyMesh were sold last year and their reputation has plummeted.

      • Thanks, that explains a while lot. I've been with then for for years nearly and the last few months have been the worst in regard to congestion

Sounds like it's time to move on

    • +2

Just signed up. Time to bail on skymesh

      • Im on skymesh too on HFC, are you giving 30 days notice ?

        • Yes I sent an email last night and paid up for the telly cube deal. Hopefully now when I watch kodi or terrarium TV I don’t have any buffering issues. I’m paying six dollars less for a hopefully faster speed with these guys

    • I'm with Skymesh too and pay $54 for 200gb at 25/5 Mbps.. I reckon this telecube deal works better for me as I have run out of data two times in the past two months and had to spend the last 2 or 3 days living of phone tethered data. Plz let us know if you get Skymesh to match this deal

      • I didn’t even bother asking SkyMesh to match it. They said they will backdate it to my last bill which was 13th of January

        • I'm not sure what you meant. When you say "They.." did you mean Skymesh would change to pricematched rates backdated to 13th Jan or did you mean that Telecube would backdate your bill to show that you were with them since 13th Jan?

        • @0FoxGiven: SkyMesh backdate my cancellation to the 13th

  • When I am signing up, it asks me to pay $138. I was expecting it to be 69$ only with no setup fees.
FYI… It did added the special code by clicking on the link https://manage.telecube.com.au/myaccount/offers/?code=NBN_69…

    Am I missing something?

    • might be your first month $69 + $69 connection which should be credit back….

      • Yes. You pay as normal but then you must email support and they will apply the credit. It is not automated.

    • Had this also, am hoping it is credited back because I just left ABB and they've changed their plans.

      • +2

Please keep in mind that you need to email support with your details and request the credit back, it's not automatically applied. We're running this offer alongside others and unless you specifically ask for the credit it won't be applied.

        • That means in 138$ I'll get 2 months of services and thereafter 69$ auto debited every month.
And also can I sign up now and lets say activate services services on specific date?

  • -1

    100/40 Mbps 1000GB Data [XXXL] – $69 per month

I can see this plan at $100/month

    https://www.telecube.com.au/internet/nbn/plans/

much worse than what I am paying Telstra currently.

    • That's retail pricing not the special offer pricing.

      • -2

Where is the special offer pricing ?

        • In the OP, on whirlpool…

  • Since when does peak time start at 7am?

    • +1

When do you wake up? :P

    • Since the times that companies want to make extra money :)

  • +1

Just signed up today and have already been transferred from Aussie Broadband and had the credit applied to my account. Very happy with the transfer and service so far. Very decent speeds so far, heading into peak times now.

    • Do you need to give aussie broadband 30 days notice?

      • Apparently it is officially in their terms and conditions, but one of the Aussie BB execs on Whirlpool said it's not actually enforced. I took the gamble and hopefully it will pay off!

        • +2

If anyone is interested I just cancelled AussieBB. No mention of the 30 days and the CSR happily cancelled my account effective immediately.

        • @redfox:

So did you notify ABB of the change first, or just made the switch to this, then let them know afterwards?

        • @Lorindor:
No need to cancel first unless you have NBN via HFC. All other orders can be churned. Then call up an cancel once the new connection is confirmed working.

  • +2

    tempted to migrate from ABB

Any FTTN Telecube users in NSW have some feedback?
Line speed will only get me ~50Mbit anyway.

    • +1

      Search or ask here

    • Where in NSW?

      I’m in Newcastle. I get 95/38 consistently.
Worst I’ve seen in peak was 80/30

Oh wait. Don’t join and congest my CVC 😂

  • Hey Op, Can you please tell me what's the deal with prepaid.

It's $59 per month now, but if TC put up the price, is it locked in? Or will it go up?

How long can I stay on $59 per month for, if prices rise in the future?

    • It's not locked in but Telecube don't have a history of rising their prices. These offers are separate to their retail prices which may rise independently.

  • do you charge the new development fee

    • I'm pretty sure that this is an NBN co fee that would be passed on by all RSPs.

Edit- sorry I just saw you directed the question to OP and not in general…

      • That's fine, I'm happy for others to answer too.

    • Yes. It's charged.

  • OP- is this available for use for residential only or can organisations use this too? Our church currently uses the Telecube cloud PBX and finds it great- it would be good to get better value for their Internet too.

    • I believe so yes but best to email [email protected]. There's no email server support

  • +1

Damn, signed up late last night. Can I still get the sign up fee credited OP?

    • Post in the whirlpool thread and John might be kind to you.

      • +1

Thanks, I'll give it a crack!

        • Good luck. I wasn't able to. Still waiting on my internet too :(

  • +1

    Signed up 1 week ago

    Very much recommend

  • I want to move over from MR, but I'm scared. Scared of MR screwing up the port. It took about 2 months for my landline number to port over. And I haven't combed over MR's T&C to see if they've hidden anything dodgy like 30 days notice for switching. TPG did this, and I needed to keep my account active for the porting process to complete, which meant paying them until it was done, and then a further 30 days for the "notice".

Does Telecube supply their own modem? It says BYO modem, but if you BYO, you won't be able to get telephony with it. Only the ISP's modem will have it confugured for your telephone.

    • I'm with MR as well. I'm preparing to loose my number. Already purchased a spare number ready to port, diverted that number to my mobile, and started telling friends and fam that new number. Takes less time than waiting on hold for an hour and half each time you call. Doubt it can be ported with 1 call

      • Depends how many 'friends' you have. For me that would be complicated because I don't live alone. I have older people in the house who have a ton of friends too, that use landlines. Including people overseas who call a few times a year. It's just too messy changing numbers.

    • My personal preference is Siemens GigaSet or similar because it is digital all the way, where as with modem it is digital from provider to port, analog to base station, digital to handset.

      • When I said 'modem', I actually meant router. The modem is provided by NBNco. The router is where your telephony connects to.

Is this used in addition to the router, or in place of the router?

        • Siemens GigaSet is used in addition to your router.

Effectively it is a cordless base station that plugs into a network port rather than the phone line (although it can do both if you still have a traditional land line).

        • @mathew42: Could be useful, if they make a unit with multiple handsets.

        • @lostn: You can buy additional handsets (up to 6?) if the pack you buy doesn't come with sufficient. The base station uses standard DECT protocol so you can even add cheap compatible handsets for dialing but some of the advanced features won't work.

A big bonus is that the base station is separate to the handsets, so you aren't restricted on handset location by where your router is located.

        • @mathew42: Where are these things purchased? It says check your local dealer. I can't find any.

        • @lostn: https://www.google.com.au/search?q=buy+siemens+gigaset

I don't have any personal recommendations on where to buy.

        • @mathew42:

Is Gigaset C530HX the handset addon for Gigaset C530A GO or is it stand alone?

  • I'm stuck at submit special rate - step 2. What happens then ?

    • Submit it…? Sorry I'm not 100% familiar with the process…

    • After you have applied the code there go to the "Services" section and click "Add New" and find the "NBN Internet" button, that will lead you through adding a service and you should see the special offer pricing.

      • Thanks. Silly me, such a nooob. Got it all done and order sent in.
What's the average wait time for orders to be process and new connection to happen ?
Do i need to contact iinet to cancel my connection or does it happen automatically ?

        • Which tech are you on? HFC FTTN FTTP etc?

        • FTTB ?

        • It's ok. Received an email from them with confirmation of installation :)

  • Upvote for credit back on setup fee+

@OP : Support wise, average hold time and email response time? Thanks

I wish NBN would be transparent on how much CVC is available in your area to your ISP.

    • At a guess I would say 2 min for phone calls and 2 hours for emails. Note that email is the main route for support.

    • +2

Support is a little different compared to others. It's a email system. When I signed up I had a glitch so I sent an email and got an answer within a few minutes. Faster then ABB answer their phones.
