Bosch WAK24162AU 7kg Front Load Washing Machine $476 C&C @ The Good Guys eBay (+$200 Rebate for QLD Residents)

1020
PICK20

Lowest price I've seen this at. A few stores have this in stock for C&C, if that's not possible then there is an additional delivery charge of $50.14, which is still cheaper than most places ($526.14 shipped);

Edit: $276 with the QLD rebate. Thanks doweyy

QLD rebate would make it $276!

Thanks doweyy, wasn't aware of this. Have added this in the post :)

You're welcome, it's an awesome initiative!

All aboard the government gravy train

    • I bought this same model washing machine 10 years ago, works well.

    • No need to visit a laundromat in qld

      • Is that a bad thing??

        Free entertainment and massage sometimes

Looks like Good Guys are at it again.

After finding the one store within 50km with supposed stock, I went to process a click and collect order and it generated an error.

Go back to main screen for item and click on sales history - no item has been sold for over half an hour - and yet somehow it has miraculously disappeared from stock unless I'm prepared to pay the $74 delivery charge. Just like all the Hisense TV's did earlier for other would-be buyers in their wonderful PICK20 ebay promo over the past couple of days.

Thank OP - product and price was great, but I'm not going to waste my time with Good Guys pricejacking and deceptive practices anymore…

Showed as in stock at about 9 stores near me an hour ago, now all showing as Out of Stock. Dodgy!

      • +7

After searching around, I found that the Belconnen store ACT was still showing as in stock.

So I tried to purchase a click and collect from this store, and lo and behold, and error is generated and the item immediately changes to out of stock at this store as well.

Clearly false practices and advertising to suggest that this item is avaiable for clcik and collect when the only way to purchase it is to pay the $74+ delivery fee. Screen shots are going to the ACCC…

        • And if your local store does have stock they will refund the fee for you.

It seems like an eBay error instead of the good guys doing anything wrong.

        • @spaceflight:

Apparently lot. After contacting them via ebay messaging, they said to contact the dispatching store (surprise, surprise - my local store 1km from home with ample stock). They were adamant that once the transaction was completed via Paypal, they were unable to refund any part of it, so I would not be able to pick up the waiting unit on my way home, nor receive a refund for the delivery component.

When I pointed out that this was blatantly untrue, they said that their own terms and conditions said they couldn't do it anyway.

I doubt this was an innocent ebay error, but is in fact an unlawful bait and switch designed to extract an extra $50-$100 out of buyers enticed by a free Click and Collect service which next to no-one has been able to utilize.

For everybody having trouble with the good guys: I had this problem when buying one of the posted Kelvinator air conditioners. I put it through as delivery and paid the fee. But when I got the confirmation email from good guys (not ebay one), oh wow what a surprise, it's getting delivered from my local good guys, who obviously have stock! They rang me to arrange delivery. I said can I just pick it up? They said sure, and we'll refund the $50 ebay delivery fee back on to the same card that was used.
Obvs YMMV for your store. But if you're willing to cop the $50 fee if they refuse, go for it and try. I don't see why they would refuse, to be quite honest.

my delivery fee is $155 in Cairns, even tho i can walk to TGG store from my house.

      • +2

Thanks OP. I just bought one 1 hour ago. I did the same as Moneymoo and paid $75 delivery (which was refunded when I went into the store to pick it up).

This is being sold on eBay so could be an eBay fault with not having the stock levels for each store.

    • +1

I ordered it an paid the delivery charge….but guess what??? None in stock….got a phone call and tried to sell me other stock. I remember used car salesmen using this method in the 90's….advertise a great deal in the paper….hoards of people turn up….car is sold "5 minutes ago…but i have another one here"….I am getting sick of this on ozbargain.

Have this washing machine and I like it a lot. Can confirm - washes clothes.

  • +1

I don't have this exact machine but we have a Bosch that's been kicking since 2005, so I'd recommend Bosch in general they seem to be good

    • I advise you to ring up a few repairers, and ask them if they can repair the model you are looking at.

I repaired a F&P washing machine a few years ago for a friend. A simple repair, a power transistor had failed and was easily replaced. But the washing machine wouldn't start up. I rang the local F&P office, who said "because the washing machine controller has logged a fault, it won't start until it has been told the fault has been repaired". And who can do that? Only F&P repairmen, who charge MUCH more than a standard repairman.

Things may have changed since then, but I doubt it.

      • That's interesting.
How much did it cost to get them to remove the fault?

Was it with something they plugged in or done with some button presses?
If it was some with button presses you could hopefully find the instructions online.

        • Some of the lights on the washing machine were flickering in a way that looked like they were transmitting data. F&P said to look in the phone book, and that F&P repairers would say they could repair F&P in their phone book advertisement. They also suggested they would connect a "computer" to the washing machine to clear the fault code.

I'm guessing they license repairers like Sony do. Sony charge for training, then charge an annual fee to "rent" the special equipment needed for most repairs. That then gets passed on to the consumers.

The machine was more than five years old, so my friend didn't get it repaired, bought a new one instead, different brand.

I tell people who are looking for a reliable machine, to look at what laundromats use. Usually those machines have a mechanical timer, which costs about $40 to replace, no computers involved.

My Mum has a Kleenmaid washing machine, same as used in laundromats. I've repaired it twice in the last 25 years, it's still going strong.

Great brand for washing machines & dishwashers in my experience.
I've heard their ovens are good too.

Note: this machine is made in India not in Europe.

    • +2

      otherwise it would be $1000

    • That's fine. Most Bosch appliances in Europe are made in Turkey, if i recall well they are made by Beko sold as Bosch. Bosch today, and 30 years ago are completely different, just as JVC has nothing in touch with the old brand.

      • +1

No, the 1000+ machines are still made in Germany.

        • +1

I spoke about this with a few salesmen in Europe when i was buying a washing machine for my apartment, this is what they told me. Even the $1000+ machines have some parts made in Turkey and then assembled in Germany. If they misinformed me, then i am too. Regardless of where they are made it doesn't mean they are inferior, however I think we can all agree that most appliances and electronics no longer are made to last more than the expiry of the warranty period.

      • That sucks.
        I'm sorry!

        • I just contacted my store and they were happy to refund the delivery fee.

  • Why does QLD always have rebates here and there??

    • 2018 electricity rebate offers.. we've been paying through the nose for the past few years

  • Decided to go with the Fisher & Paykel WH7560J3.

No problem with availability - it's available at my local store, so I've arranged Premium delivery, which means that it's installed, and my 10 year old LG is taken away.

Total cost including $79 delivery and Queensland rebate - $406.

Excellent value, I think, as on the law of averages my old machine has to wear out sometime soon!

    • If your old LG is working put it on Gumtree.

You'll get some extra cash and it's removed for you!

      • You haven't seen the condition of my old LG!

        • +2

          Haha!
Stick it on there for free and let it live another life.

What I have done is put things on for free or cheap and if someone wants it before the new appliance comes they can have it.
That way it gets to keep living and somebody gets an appliance they need

  • Be aware that the Qld rebate will cease when the $20M allocated by the Gov has been spent. It's been going for a while and has been very popular. 4 star or better appliances - washer $200; frig $250; air con $300. see here

    • Fair point - still going mid last week so fingers crossed for OzB buyers

  • Is this the made in Germany model?
    Edit- okay it's not. NG.

  • +1

I have this particular model. 1 year and 3 months of excellent service! can't recommend it strong enough!

  • Got one..
Any idea how warranty works for purchases of eBay?

    • +1

Same as if you buy from GG. It's standard Bosch warranty.

  • wow any deals for bigger washers?

    • +1

Dont bother….none in stock. Good guys will ring you up and try and sell you something else that is in no way a bargain.

  • Does anyone know if I can buy the additional warranty in store if I buy from their eBay store?
    Cheers

    • Statutory warranty.

  • +1

I just got a call from the good guys, none in stock, wait 5-10 business days. So dont bother if you are in qld cause the $200 rebate runs out on 20th.

    • You only need proof of purchase to claim. You don't have to wheel the machine to a government office for inspection.

    • I just called the local store and asked them to email me the receipt and submitted that online.
