More stock allocated for the Yeelights!

Three deals tonight including two Xiaomi! For those who missed on last week's Yeelight RGB Bulb deal, GeekBuying have them going for the same price.

These are very popular because not only do they support a massive range of colour configurations thanks to the RGB, but they're also equipped with WiFi. This means you can control it from your phone through the Yeelight/Mi Home app, control it with Google Home or integrate into other smart home systems via IFTTT. They're great for setting mood lighting, flowing lights for that romantic night or pumping lights for a home party.

Next up is the Xiaomi Yeelight Candela Bluetooth Light. This light is designed to give the feeling of having a candle in the room. It has a rechargeable battery via Micro USB allowing you to take it anywhere, adjustable brightness and can be controlled with the Yeelight app over Bluetooth. Perfect for setting up a romantic dinner with the significant half if you're worried about burning the house down with a candle!

The 3rd and final deal is a magnetic wristband from JVMAC featuring 5 magnets. This is perfect for any DIY projects as you can attach the nails and screws to the wrist band without having to worry about dropping them.

Can we have a deal on the Xiaomi bedside light please?

    • +2

I'll see what Geek can come up with.

  • +6

Great price on the RGB Bulb Clear, shame we can't get them for the old prices anymore,

but this is the best price currently available that I have seen.

    • +6

Xiaomi noticed the popularity of their products last year and decided to rise their prices for resellers. Also part of the reason why they disabled the XiaoFang camera.

      • Wait… what!? The XiaoFang camera is disabled!?

        • +2

The default firmware has been hard coded to work in China only. You must use FangHacks firmware for it to work. Gives you better features anyway.

        • +1

@Clear: Mine was "offline" when I looked on Mi Home on my phone. Turned the device off and on and now it's back online. I've got a micro SD in it, it has been recording though. Probably should consider installing Fanghacks on it at some stage.

  • How are these with maintaining a connection and producing rgb as well as true white? I still can't decide between this and Philips Hue

    • I have a few of these and have no issue, colours and white are both great, and only have connection issues when wi-fi playing up,

but that's not the lights that's the wi-fi.

      • Thanks. But are they definitely true whites or do they have a hint of blue like all rgb whites do?

        Just realised they're only 600 lumens :(

        • +1

In the app you can press the white button and change the colour temperature.

        • +2

Yes because they are RGB + white LEDs.

Edit: If relying on the white LEDs then yes they have a slight tinge of blue being 6500K. The bulb can simulate a lower colour temperature by mixing with the RGB LEDs. If all you want is just shades of white or say from 3000K to 5700K then the Xiaomi Philips bulb suits you better but it's only 450lm.

        • They produce an excellent white, but yes this model is only 600 lumens which by itself isn't the best.

There is a new v2 model or now, which has been popping up a bit, which is 800 lumens. Hopefully mine will arrive soon and I'll be able to test it out.

On a good white (adjusted until not blue at at) it does light up a 3mx5m bedroom pretty well. I'm a fan of bright lights however.

Don't see a 1200 lumen little coming anytime soon, so you might need a couple.

But again, the white can be very good, so i think you'll be happy with that

  • +1

Kinda messy to chuck all that paint around at the same time.

    • +1

Putting down a large drop cloth when you first plug it in reduces the amount of cleanup.

  • Any chance on getting a deal on a Yeelight 650? I wanted to buy a couple more but the shipping especially at present is too expensive..

Currently listed as [Xiaomi Yeelight Moonlight Smart LED Ceiling Light Bluetooth APP Wireless Remote Control IP50 Dustproof Multiple Scene Modes - White Version/650x147mm] on your site.
    Thanks!

    • They are nice, I have had my eye on those for a while but they are quite expensive.

  • Id stick with the new version at this price. Consumes less and higher lumens.

  • I saw Magnetic Wristband and expected snake oil… Was surprised to see something that's kind of a cool idea. So much better than holding a heap of screws between your teeth because you are holding too many things!

    • I was worried someone would think it was those snake oil balance bands. Thankfully these are r3slly useful.

  • i have a very simple smart light on my wifi that i made with an ESP8266. it's controlled with http requests over our local network, meaning i can't see or control it when off the wifi, but i'm more assured about security and privacy.

i'm interested in the yeelight, but does it 'call home' so to speak, as in do i need to use an app, where requests get sent to / through a server elsewhere? or is it possible to keep control the light using my own methods and keep it only controllable on the local network? i don't know heaps about this stuff so sorry if this is a silly question.

    • +1

Ahhh the ESP8266… I've used that in many projects. By default the Yeelight bulbs are used through the Yeelight app which require you to choose a region. Xiaomi products normally need to use Mainland China for full functionality, but most people choose Singapore for Yeelights as that has Google Home support.

Yeelight provide an API for their products and it's supported by Home Assistant which many use for their own DIY smart home setup. I recommend looking into HA as there are a lot of different brands supported and a very active dev community.

      • this looks like what i was looking for. thanks a lot!

  • +5

Yeelight coupon already gone. Any more left? or new code please?

    • +2

I'll ask Geek for more codes.

    • +1

      More stock has been added.

  • +1

Any GU10 smart led deals !?

  • +2

Any chance they could do the new v2 bulbs please?

    • +13

Seriously? You miss out so you neg the deal?
Shall we all wait for you before posting all deals? or only the ones you are interested in?
Can you provide a list for us of all the products you are after?
oh, and what times you're available, so everyone knows what time you are ready to start buying so we can start listing.

Remove your neg, it's not all about you.

      • -1

I posted a Neg as quite clearly there was a limited amount of this product available and no mention of it in the post. If the coupon code is limited to x amount of purchases then this should be stated in the post, as it is misleading. I will not remove my Neg.

        • +6

quite clearly there was a limited amount of this product available

Every deal on this site has limited availability, why not go neg all those too?

        • -3

@doweyy: why not quote me correctly…??"and no mention of it in the post." As per the posting guidelines "If your deal has limited quantity, please mention it in the description"

          @life is a little crazy:

OK, will neg your next deal.

        • +4

          @life is a little crazy:

It's sad that you had to leave it to the community to revoke your negative vote for you.

This is a very popular item, over 400 people clicked the link before the offer expired.

But we all know that the only amount that matters here is 1.

The one you missed out on.

Well, let me apologize on behalf of all OzBargainers.

I am Sorry, I am sorry you missed out on buying this bulb a bit cheaper than normal.

          I do hope you recover.

        • +4

@xev: I even said I was going to ask for more pcs allocated :/

        • @Clear:

Thank you Clear, but there better be one left for me when I am ready to sit down and buy one.

Or I might chuck a tantrum, cry, stamp my little feet and roll around on the floor a bit.

lol, just joking, I won't do that, I'm a functioning adult.

        • @life is a little crazy:

Why not quote the guidelines correctly? You forgot to copy the most important part.

          Limited Quantity
If your deal has limited quantity, please mention it in the description. As a general guide, deals with less than 10 items in stock at the time of submission may be unpublished, but moderators may, at their discretion, allow deals to stay if they are potentially useful to the community.

        • +4

@life is a little crazy: I have organised an additional 100pcs added.

      • +7

Remove your neg, it's not all about you.

@xev Looks like the community will do it for him.

        • +5

          anddddd it's done :)

      • +3

        Very well put.

  • Why buy version 1 of the Yeelight when V2 is only $28?

    • When you need to buy more than 1 it quickly adds up: 4pcs of V2 = 5pcs of V1 at these prices.

That said I paid much lower for the V1s back then before the recent price increases.

      • +1

When you need to buy more than 1 it quickly adds up: 4pcs of V2 = 5pcs of V1 at these prices.

Yep agree, but you are getting brighter light and native Siri support.

However, if you are an android user then V1 might be ok since V1 does have Google home support.

      • You're not considering the cost savings, with 4 of the V2, you're saving about 8-10 bucks a year

        • Care to elaborate?

        • +1

          @m9:

Check the standby/off watts consumed by each bulb. It's about a watt or two. Meaning that if the bulbs are off (Which they are most of the time), you're spending an extra 2 bucks a year per bulb on the older version.

        • +2

You're right - 0.7W difference and assuming 30 cents per kWh it's close to 2 bucks if mostly left on standby.

However at $7 ish price difference it will take roughly 3.5 years to break even.

        • @m9:

But that time v3 is out then you will compare to v2 the cycle repeats. I don't see anything wrong with v1

        • @neonlight: I think your comment should be directed at jared444. I own multiple V1s and think they're fine. The cheaper price helps offset the marginally higher standby power consumption.

        • @neonlight:

So are you typing this out on a Commodore 64 right now?

        • @m9:

Yes but you are getting better lumens, you break even after 3.5 years and save a few bucks after that since these bulbs last approx 10 years.

        • @m9:

So if you breakeven after 3 years or so that means you are spending an extra $20 as every 3 bulbs of V1 you need an extra bulb to match that of V2. So you're really losing money over time and you're paying more for bulbs with V1. It's funny people really only look at the cost of a single item rather than the long-term costs and also the total costs in getting the same result compared to V2.

        • @jared444:

It's funny people really only look at the cost of a single item rather than the long-term costs..

I find it funny why you couldn't let this go. I bought my bulbs for US$10 to US$14 (all 8 from GB) which was $13 to $18 back then. At those prices I'm looking at 5 to 7.5 years to break even. And there was no V2 back then.

you are spending an extra $20 as every 3 bulbs of V1 you need an extra bulb to match that of V2

Who's to say I need to match anything? What if I'm content with the brightness of V1? My ceiling lights are all GU10 down/spotlights. I only bought these V1 E27 bulbs for the various desk and floor lamps I have, so they are not even the main source of light for any room at my place.

So you're really losing money over time..

Even if I were to buy them now and break even after 3.5 years it wouldn't faze me one bit as I love technology and I change them out like people change clothes. I certainly do not expect them to last 3 years let alone 10. When the next weird and wonderful tech comes along I would have jumped ship. Oh and are you that certain your V2 will last 10 years? If you have to replace it midway then all these will just be moot. Plus if you really wanted to save money why bother with a smart bulb? Get a standard LED bulb. They are way brighter and chances are will outlive these smart bulbs.

          TL;DR
There's nothing wrong with the new or old Xiaomi RGBW bulbs. Both are good products. But I personally do not need the V2 as they are not my main source of light. For my use case I'll take the cheaper option and tinker with them then chuck them out for the next.

  • +1

I would love to pick these up but for some strange reason they only come in Edison screw. I know you can get adapters but would prefer not to…

    • I guess E27 is much more common in China. The original Yeelight Blue II bulbs came in B22 but they were only Bluetooth and before the time Yeelight was in partnership with Xiaomi.

    • I'm wondering if these are safe to use https://www.lightinthebox.com/p/b22-to-e27-led-bulbs-socket-…

Most of my lights are E27 but I still have a couple of B22s.

  • Whats the reason that these bulbs aren't going for $13 anymore?

    • +2

There are a couple of reasons. Gearbest and others last year used the loss leading strategy to sell BELOW cost price to pull in more customers and generate more sales. The other reason is Xiaomi don't even sell it in China for a price that low and Xiaomi themselves have raised the cost price to suppliers due to an increased popularity in their products internationally.

      • Cool, thanks for the heads up.

      • That means they first get the market and now doing price creep. Let's hope they don't turn out to be like that.

  • +3

Additional 100pcs added. Have fun :)

    • Thanks got one

  • Hi OP

Can we have a decent deal on https://www.geekbuying.com/item/Original-Xiaomi-Mi-WiFi-Ampl… please?

  • -4

Whilst I appreciate you have added more stock, and I couldn't care if I missed out on the deal as these deals run constantly my issue is that you didnt disclose there was a limited amount available so when I went to your website added the items to the cart went to enter the coupon code it told me I had to sign up to use the coupon (this is where I have the issue) so I created a new account and when I went to check out it advised me that the code was not available, I personally see this as misleading and the main purpose was to gain my email address for you subscription list. As for the immature adults that seem to enjoy being keyboard warriors these are valid points I have made and Xev the guidelines I referred to were correct and the additional information referred to if there was under 10 items.

    • +2

All items in listings are limited, there is no such thing as infinite items.

In the guidelines 'limited' refers to listings for less that 10 items.

You left a neg because you were salty because you missed out.

Even if it said the amount of items, there is no guarantee that by the time you click 'Buy Now' that their will be any left.

      • +2

Most of the time across all the posts on OZB people are nagging because of the neg votes :)

Maybe the neg vote button should be removed,
then we can all use the report function without nagging and be in peace lol…

        • +4

It serves a useful purpose if members abide by the guidelines.

    • +4

Requiring an account to apply a coupon is standard with many online stores (particularly Chinese stores) as you need an account to order and guest checkout is not possible. There is nothing malicious about that.

Normally I disclose stock if it's limited, but the stock in this case exceeded 100pcs so I didn't feel the need to advertise it.

  • -3

Xev please educate yourself about consumer law, if you are using the ozbargain site as a business to sell a product you are supposed to have enough stock for the duration of the deal. There is a huge difference between a business listing a discount item for sale and ozbargain member sharing a deal they found. Clear. It is not the standard practice to have to sign up for a coupon code to be valid, many websites will give you the option of guest check out. Misleading and malicious are two different things, deceptive might also be a better word to use. Well maybe for next time if the coupon code is limited to 100 might be a good idea to disclose that information. I think a few of you keyboard warriors clearly have missed the point of my post.

    • +6
      1. Try and enforce consumer law with a Chinese store, let us know how you get on.
      2. Duration of deal is while stocks last, everyone but you seems to understand this.
      3. It is standard for most Chinese sites to sign up to use a coupon, we're all familiar with this.
      4. Misleading, malicious, deceptive.. WTF are you talking about? Don't answer, nobody cares.
      5. It could be a deal for 500,000 items, there is not going to be a counter to let you know how many is left.

We all have missed out on deal, it's annoying, now move on.

      I'm done with this

      • -4

you care…cause you keep wanting to argue the point. I guess the question is should they be allowed to advertise on an Australian site. You continue to clearly misunderstand. Well, that is not in my experience. Again you care cause you continue to deny me my opinion and want to challenge it. Well actually quite a lot of website will indicate stock levels. As I stated couldn't care less that I missed out on this deal, I purchased these globes elsewhere, again please re-read my post and understand what the issue is. have an awesome night and good luck with your shopping…

        • +3

I guess the question is should they be allowed to advertise on an Australian site.

Why not? You attempted to purchase.

  • Any deals for the Yeelight Strip possible?

    • +1

  • Does anyone know the difference between the Candela "Normal" vs. "International" version? Is normal with a CH plug?

    • The package and manual are in English for the Intl' version.

  • This coupon code has ultimately reached the limitation usage times.!

  • Anyone got this item delivered? I haven't receive it.
