You Only Enjoy Drinking It Once?

    • Yes you can drink it, but you will probably end up dead or very sick.

  • +11

Glad it sold out. Probably would have bought with no immediate use.

  • +3

Braun shaver cleaner refilled for the next 5 years.

    • Wish I thought of that!

I didn't buy it because I couldn't think of a use but we do need some Braun refills.

      • +1

It's one of those things where you don't realise how many uses it has until you start using it (it's also known as rubbing alcohol)

    • How would you use this as a refill? Do I need to do anything else aside from refilling the old cartridge?

      • Refill should be 70% IPA so add a little water (good clean water preferably distilled). I typically use it stronger because I wash head with water before activating the cleaning cycle.

    • Yes, I've been doing this for years too. it works fine and I've saved a fortune. Even add a drop of lemon essence for a fruity face effect.

  • -1

Wait can I use this to make home-made alcopops?

    • This is not drinking alcohol (ethanol), it's a different chemical. It's not for drinking.

  • -4

Does this go well with whiskies?
Or should I have straight shots?

  • +1

Damn great deal. spent 32.90 last saturday for 10L 100% IPA from sydney solvents

    • Link? I can only find 5L for $28.95

      • I think it was a pricing error but they honored it

I had placed a order about a month ago for 18.99 and that was for only 1L

      • Looks like this seller has stock now anyway

  • +2

    Missed out :(
    Upvoted nways!

  • What the hell!! ahhhhhh i just bought 5L this morning for $15!

    • you missed this anyway

    • +1

Ego, where did you get 5L for $15?
Im actually in the market for one of these.

      • +1

It was randonly on my ebay home page because ive bought it before from sydney solvents. But i just checked "buy another" and they are $29 again

  • +9

Great deal but I'll continue to steal it from my workplace

    • +3

      User name checks out

    • …one sip at a time? :)

  • thought the meth cooks would have been onto this quick smart at this price …… one of the ingredients it seems …

    • +1

I know nothing about meth cooking (other than what I learned from Breaking Bad), but if what you say is true, I'd suspect that given the uses this has, and how common and relatively cheap it is, it would hardly be the most cost-sensitive component for them (not to mention they wouldn't want to leave a trail by buying online).

  • +1

d'oh missed this. Good deal considering the amount I've paid in the past for 99% liquids/wipes. I settle for cleaning with metho, but not on things that handle food or skin.

    • Metho is fine for cleaning isn’t it?

      • Yeahhhhhh… But not things that handle food or skin

        • Why’s that? Obviously it’s denatured and has some bitter addictive but poisioned to the extent you can’t clean a kitchen with it doesn’t seem right.

          Edit: http://whrl.pl/Rd5TB8

      • +1

ISO is so much cleaner then metho, no nasty smell (diggers metho stinks)
It evaporates quicker and is purer.
It's what is used for surgical wipes and also for lens cleaner.
It's safe to use in food surfaces as it evaporates completely, no residue or dyes.

Between this and the Dyson - my place better be sparkling damn clean

  • I wonder if the $10 would even be enough to cover postage specially after all the eBay/Paypal fees

    • +1

An Australia Post 5kg satchel is about $20 and eBay/PayPal fees I think are over 10%…

      • which mean the more they sell the more they lose???

  • +3

Wow.. that's cheaper than Bali full moon party buckets!

  • +1

Single units sold out by the seller but they still have 2 packs and 3 packs of the 5L available at original price.
If this was a store you walked into im sure most of us would be pulling apart the multipacks and taking the singles to the register for the discount price. Not sure how you can do that on ebay unfortunately.

  • +1

Damn… Missed out. Thought I had my weekend bender all sorted.

  • +3

No doubt some idiot here probably bought it with the intention of drinking it. I think the OP should update the post to warn people off consuming this stuff as its not for consumption.

    Cheers OP

    • 97 more added in total :)

      • +2

        "More than ten available"
        97 certainly meets that criteria.

      • And it's out of stock again, dangit. Who the hell keeps buying so many??

Been wanting to get high purity IPA ever since I started 3D printing…

  • Cheers, got 2. I've got a ton of old consoles I want to fix up at some point.

  • Seeing the EXPIRED tag disappear has never felt better

its good for cleaning my remotes when the plastic gets all sticky…..err i really dont know how to phrase that better

    • I put mine in a sock to help stop this from happening…

  • Nooo… just missed out by 15 minutes :(

I wonder how they ship this stuff safely to customers?

    • "We can deliver some dangerous items, if they meet certain conditions and are packed in a specific way.

Our dangerous goods exemptions policy does permit very small quantities of some dangerous goods (known as "exempted" dangerous goods) when carried on a contract basis and by road transport only.

There are specific requirements for how these goods are packaged and who they are delivered to.

Please read clause 62 through 65 of the Australia Post Terms & Conditions for more information."

      Quote from https://auspost.com.au/sending/check-sending-guidelines/dang…

That is, assuming auspost will be the deliverer.

    • +1

I grabbed a 5L from Sydney Solvents a few weeks back ($29.95 delivered, sigh). It arrived as a 5L jerry can inside a heat-sealed plastic bag inside a cardboard box.

Not sure about the safety standards, but the autoignition point of isopropyl is about 400 degrees so it's unlikely to be the first thing in the mail van to catch alight on a hot day.
