I have a dream…that one day ProSpeedRacing and CarModsAustralia will some day have 20% their items.

    • 20% off, rather.

    • +1

WPDAU, outlawspeedshop and jpl_autoparts too please

    • They both have different sales all the time on their own sites. I think I have a discount code at home for CMA too.

Can anybody recommend replacement shock absorbers? Is it possible to buy online and get a mechanic to fit them or will most of them not entertain the request?

Any suggestions for a brand and seller would be really helpful.

    • Better off negotiate a price with parts and labor together. These guys knows well where to get parts with best price. Doubt you can beat them.

    • +2

I got some Bilstein B6 shocks and King springs from sparesbox with the 25% ebay plus sale. My local bloke was happy to fit them and I saved over $800 on their quoted price if they had sourced the parts.

    • What car? And what purpose - do you want to go fast? do you want ride comfort? Do you want both?

      • The idea is just to have them working as normal as the current ones are work out… Nothing fancy.

    • I won't fit any supplied parts. If something goes wrong, I can be liable. If they end up having problems, who takes them out and puts new ones in? Who pays for that? Are the parts one that I would recommend for that car? Are they genuine or cheap copies? In addition, my suppliers will warrant any faulty goods and I won't be out of pocket. Plus someone might bring in new shocks to fit, but the problem might be rubbers, shock bearings, etc, so fitting them may make things worse, which is hard to explain to a customer. We also make our money partly on labour and partly on parts, so if I would fit them, the labour rate would have to be higher to compensate. So the easiest option is simply to say that if you have your own parts, you fit them. Most mechanics supply a total service. You wouldn't go to a restaurant and bring the ingredients with you and expect them to cook the meal.

      • All three local mechanic I asked for a quote were willing to fit my parts and charge labour only. No warranty on the parts though.

    • Some will. But many will charge the same markup as if they supplied themselves or just refuse.
So know your mechanic in advance.

      • Thanks guys for all your suggestions.

The general advice seems to be have a mechanic lined up whom you know else just go get it done as a package.

IS EBAY going to do a SITE-WIDE deal better then PENNY5 ???

There's not just car parts here. I can see some random stuff too, like bedding, inverters and a "cat scratching tree".

  • Picked up a Ryco Oil Filter for $11. Perfect!

    • Always check the price of genuine oil filters. I've often found them to be cheaper than Ryco. Recently I bought a 10 pack of Toyota ones for $7 each.

Why go Ryco when you can go genuine for less!

      • where to you source the genuine one? via dealer?

  • Anyone have good experience with petrol pressure washer from these sellers? If not these any other recommendations? Thank you

  • +1

Thanks for this. Bought an Office chair at a nice discount.
Will be more comfortable reading Ozbargain after it arrives.

  • 20% of legit price of Window Sox via Sparesbox - heaps of car models & free delivery. Australian made & specific to fit each car model - https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=window+sox…

    • goodluck dealing with sparesbox.

      • Thanks mate! No good?

        • +1

I've not had any bad experiences with them, but a mate had to get a refund through ebay disputes when they didn't deliver and wouldn't reply to emails. So if it goes smooth it's all good, but if they don't deliver put in a dispute straight away.

      • +1

I've actually never had a problem with them.

The only issue was they sent one oil filter wrong, I immediately contacted them and they sent the correct one out that day. Told me I could keep the wrong one.

        No complaints at all.

        • Ditto, not had problems with Sparesbox either through Ebay or directly via their site.

  • BrandBeast just Jack the price up as I was adding the item to the shopping cart. Original Price was $129 or something, after adding to the cart the price gone up to $213.86.

  • Just got some brake discs and pads from $360 discounted, thanks!

Shoutout to "Rolan" - bought so many parts off them over the years - always very fast shipping from Sydney and high quality.

  • +2

Don't forget you'll also get 20 x Flybuys offer (ends midnight)

    • And Cashrewards

      (Damn I forgot!)

    • My ebay account with flybuys got randomly cancelled :(

  • Good timing, my car is getting harder to start in the morning with this colder weather. Time for a new battery

Sparesbox is price jacking. They did it while I was viewing an item. Viewed item was $17XX - went back to keep viewing $18XX

    • Odd, I know they haven't on parts Im looking at. They've got the most common prices for most items for me (some places are a little cheaper) but with 20% off, they're WAY cheaper.

  • Far out… I just bought rotors, pads and a tail light on the weekend. GAAAAAAH! This always happens to me.

  • +2
    brandbeast is price jacking

    • I think we're looking at the same thing? Pioneer 4ch compact amp?

They haven't been trying to hide it either, last night price on a item I had in my cart changed 4 times lol, went up $40 over pre sale and slowly dropped down to pre sale today.

      • I think we're looking at the same thing? Pioneer 4ch compact amp?

haha … yep. That's the one :) It would have been a good deal if they kept the original price unchanged. Even though the price is now cheaper I did not buy that because of the doggy selling practice.

Any recommendation for a roof top tent? Looking to use it to camp in the snow mountains
