Dang it, just bought 2 from Woolworths today at 30% off. Oh well. Thanks TA, will further restock

      • I highly doubt you can refund frozen items due to health safety reasons.
        Unless
You go prepared and return immediately after purchase. They might be lenient them

        • -5

          https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/discover/about-us/returns…

          I dunno…I don't see anything saying you can't.

          • @Munki:

"Woolworths reserves the right to have the product assessed for acceptable quality prior to providing you with a suitable remedy."

            • -1

@jv: Provided the Coles pizzas were stored correctly, it should definitely pass that. Unless of course it doesn't, then you'd have other things to worry about.

            • @jv: I'd insist on them cooking it and tasting as a fair assessment.

      • +3

Haha I’m happy to pay the extra $1 or so. Was about to purchase local pizza but got these instead, so still saving some $$$

        • -2

I'm just enjoying the downvoters not being able to take that post as anything but a joke.

          • +1

            @Munki: It's a tough crowd tonight - don't take it personally.

            • -1

@dm01: I just took a leaf out of jv's notebook. Never take things personally.

              • +1

@Munki: Just a leaf? Poor jv would have a couple of chapters on the subject by now.

                • +2

@dm01: jv's going to release a memoir soon. It's going to be the length of that famous book which had an original title of War What Is It Good For?

      • +10

That's not cool - they have to throw out any refrigerated/frozen item which you return, and they may not accept change of mind returns on this stuff so you'd have to say that you're somehow unhappy with it. Please don't unnecessarily contribute to food wastage or exploit their generous returns policy.

        • -1

…or exploit their generous returns policy.

Gotta be the first time on OzB I've seen the word 'generous' used to describe some aspect of the supermarket duopoly.

As long time exploiters of Aussie growers and producers, I say Coles and Woolies have well and truly earned whatever poor treatment they get.

          • @dm01: Just looking at their returns policy in isolation - Coles and Woolies will accept just about anything for a return, even if it is half used, without any kind of time limit, if you just say that you were unhappy with it. This is obviously in their interests - they have a lifetime to profit from you but can lose your business in a single incident - but it's one of the most generous policies anywhere.

          • +1

@dm01: Many years ago I returned something non perishable to one of the super markets

When I took out the recipet I realised that it was from the competitor..
            Oops I said.
But the check out person said don't worry and gave me the money back.

            I was super impressed.
Not sure if this was a once off or policy

  • +1

    Are these tasty?

    • +4

      I'd describe them as 'Ok'.

      • Ok? If Jesus made pizzas, this would be them.

        • +1

          So Jesus makes OK pizzas?

          • @Munki: Only during Lent

            • +1

@jv: His pepperoni pizzas would be quite bland regardless.

          • +3

@Munki: Dunno. His bread, fish, and wine proved popular, but as neither the bible nor Zomato mention his attempts at Italian food, we don't have anything to go by.

            • @dm01: I bet if he got the chance to, he'd probably do a better job than Jamie Oliver…

              • +1

                @Munki: "…know wot aye mean?"

            • @dm01: Jesus was a carpenter.

        • are they made in Mexico

        • @PainToad: I buy these myself, but have you actually compared them to a quality pizza restaurant?

        • You need to get out a little…

    • +4

      Best frozen pizza.

      • +3

        That's not saying much…

        • +29

          Three words to be specific.

      • -5

McCain is better. These are more bland…

    • +5

About average as frozen pizzas go. Not the most generous with toppings and certainly not carefully arranged on it, more machine dumped in a pile. You'll need some additional grated cheese and any other of your fav toppings. McCain's Rustica range are better tasting (more herbs and spices).

      • +2

Agreed. Surprised McCain's Rustica doesn't get more recognition.

        • I have never seen Rustica go on sale so that might be why…

      • I have never seen Rustica go on sale so that might be why…

        • They're regularly $4-5 at Coles world square but alternate between flavours on offer.

    • +3

They’re better than most other frozen pizzas, such that when baked appropriately, the base is quite crispy and the sauce is light and crisp (with the ham and pineapple). The toppings are sparse but you can add your own toppings (I usually add salami; intending on adding more pineapple in future)

      • I do exactly the same thing. My preference is for the 'Hawaiian' pizza which gives the overall taste a slightly sweet taste (which I love). I also add on top a layer of salami (mild or hot) as well as some grated cheese. If I can remember I also add in some anchovies.

Due to the extra toppings, I also leave it in the oven for the maximum recommended time and then add on an extra minute. This gives it that extra crisp.

        • Good thought on the extra cheese. I will do that next time

          • +1

@brian77: Just got some extra salami and some 500g Mainland Colby cheese which was on clearance at Woolworth for $3.60 for some reason. I don't usually get Colby (prefer Mainland Vintage or Epicure) but for that price (plus the extra meltyness), I'll try this on my Hawaiian tonight.

Needless to say, I will NOT be putting all 500g of cheese on the pizza.

    • Spinchi good.

      Rest bad..

  • +3

Wouldn’t you just get dominos for $1.25 more?

    • +15

I'd rather these than my local Dominos.

      • +2

        Same.

    • +1

Let's be honest, it's kind of borderline.

    • +4

Pita/ flat breds with your own basic ingredients are way better than these in my opinion. I personally like the days work gets platters and half of them are left over. Assorted Cheese, assorted meats, olives, I see pizzas!

      • +2

You do realise who you're talking to on here? Most of these guys have empty kitchens (other than junk and soft drink) and use disposable cutlery and plates.

        • Disposable cutlery? I use villeroy and boch

    • Making your own you can eat it as soon as it's out of the oven!

    • Because dominos doesnt sell frozen pizza. If you live across the road from a dominos, yea, dominos is a bigger deal, but if you want a late night snack or something, dominos is not exactly an option.

  • Thanks arse, have you tried these? What are they like?

    • +1

Are you really asking the opinion of an arse about what food is like?

    • +4

Thanks arse, have you tried these? What are they like?

Taste better on the way in.

      • +1

        Also tastes better than arse.

        • +1

But what if that's your fetish?

          • +3

@Munki: pretend your a Gringo like John McAfee and mix it with 'bath salts'!

  • Any suggestions on what topping?

    • +2

Not sure what ones there are as the Op hasn't mentioned them in the description. He will get the hang of posting deals eventually :)

      • +1

Just going by his avatar, he'll be grateful for the feedback.

    • +2

      quattro formagi
      hawaiian
      spinach

      • Disgusting username.
        I love it.

    • Since I am a spinaci expert. I tell ya what. This one is good with feta, choizo, chilli, chicken, mushroom and garlic (not necessarily all at once). Delicious base? Only rarely would eat without extra toppings.

  • +2

    My favourite is the Mozzarella

    • -4

      Thanks for sharing…

      • What pizza would you recommend, jv?

        • -2

The one from the local pizza shop

          • @jv: Who is your local jv?

            • @Clear: Godfather Pizza.

They make you an offer you cannot refuse.

              • +1

@jv: One does not simply refuse the Sicilian Connection.

  • Ristorante is okay but I prefer other Dr Oetker's pizza product, Papa Giuseppi's Rising Stuffed Crust. It tastes better but it's hardly having ½ price promotion.

  • +7

58 upvotes for a frozen pizza deal.
    I fear for humanity.

    • +1

      It's over double that now.

  • +3

My favourite is the Bolognaise. I can only find it at one Woolworths that is somewhat near to me. The Spinach one isn't too bad either.

  • +2

These can be a cheap and decent base for your own pizza recipe. I stockpile the Spinach or Quattro Formagi varieties and throw on smoked salmon, rocket & feta, or pulled pork and BBQ sauce, or seafood and garlic sauce. Oodles of cheese on top really makes the difference. They’re great for when you don’t have time to make your own dough and just want to eat in a hurry!

    • I like the 4 cheese one with seafood marinara, more cheese and seafood herb/flavour mix sprinkled on top. The spinach one is the next best. The ones with meat need additional toppings.

    • I put a spinach and a quattro formagi on top of each other and eat it like a sandwich/burger

  • +2

Need to bring back the chocolate ones!

    • HELP!

  • +2

Y'all should try some Turkish bread brushed with olive oil and a dash of za'atar, toasted
served with roasted peppers, cherry tomatoes and some ricotta cheese

takes 5 mins to make, cheap and delish

    • or tomatoes and vegemite…

    • Or corn soup with noodles.

  • +1

woolworths had this recently and my freezer still has about 10, but i’m still tempted to buy more. the cheapest date night in ever.

    • +1

I'm not sure the opposite sex sees this as a good thing

      • +2

I am the opposite sex (female) if that’s what you are referring to. I’m just a cheap c***

  • This frozen stuff has too much sodium. Check the sodium content.

    • +1

Like most frozen foods. I'd be surprised if people didn't think frozen pizza had a lot of sodium.

      • Like most foods actually (save for home cooking), it's also because sodium is tasty.

        • Must put chicken salt on everything.

      • i think dominos' has more sodium in it

        • +1

Dominos isn't frozen :P But yes Dominos is also disgusting.

  • Think I might need to book a Dr's appointment after this deal

  • Goanna get hated for saying this but….

I think the worst store pizza whether it be dominoes is always better than the best frozen pizza.

You can't replicate the bass of a store pizza when it's frozen

    • You can't replicate the bass of a store pizza when it's frozen

You should try cooking it first.

    • My Goanna doesn't hate you.
