I don't even need an SSD but feel like I should buy one tomorrow just in case…

He's going to be a power user one day.

        • You mean they might let me out of the penalty box one day

    • Great for PS4 Pro, trust me, the difference is massive. Especially noticeable in big game like RDR2, BO4.

    860 Evo 1TB $45 Cashback

Firstly I read that as a 1TB SSD for $45 after cashback and I was about to go crazy for the deal of the century.
But $154 is also a great price :)

    • +1

      I read it the same

    • +1

Haha I thought exactly the same thing and was going go into Broden mode.

but as you said $154 is still awesome.

    • Was on the same boat 😀

    • Now it says $165, yet if you click on the link it says $250…. 250-45..$205!?

    • Firstly I read that as a 1TB SSD for $45 after cashback and I was about to go crazy for the deal of the century.

this century stilll has a while to run - no doubt 1 TB SSD is going to be a lot less than $45 before it’s over.

      • You commented on a 3 week old comment for that?

  • +5

    Ripper find. Thank you :)

  • I've been holding out for the 1TB for so long, hopefully this is it!

    • Me too, ill get double for that wait

  • +1

Finally time to upgrade the 128gb SSD in my laptop I think. Don't know what i'll do with it though..

    • +3

      Portable Linux distro perhaps?

      • people still do this?

  • So it's Samsung cashback.

Pity that the SS cashback start after 15% off ebay website!!
    However, given the redemption period:
Start Time and Date: 9:00 AM AEDT on Friday, 23 November 2018
End Time and Date: 5:00 PM AEDT on Monday, 28 January 2019

We could hope to have another, let say 10% off ebay which could bring 1TB SSD under $200 and another $45 cachsback from SS
    Am I understanding it right?

    • Shopping Express still have a 20% coupon available: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/417162

      • +5

It seems like Shopping Express is not a Participating Resellers???!!

        • +1

I don't see Shopping Express as participating reseller too.

      • They're not participating but the discount offered makes the item cheaper than cashback.
        Compared it against https://www.computeralliance.com.au/ssd-drives

        • +1

          Shopping Express are participating FYI.

  • This doesn't seem to include portable SSDs right?

    • +4

You can buy a SSD and put it into a USB enclosure to make a portable SSD

  • +1

Less than 19 cent per GB with this cashback deal. Nearly 10 cent away to today HDD normal pricing.

    • +2

Or another way of looking at it - still double that of normal HDD pricing.

  • Just bought a T5 1TB drive with the 15% off Ebay deal, but thankfully external drives don't look to be listed.

  • Damn, just bought the 970 Evo like 45 mins ago and unable to cancel the order.
Do we have a Shopping Express rep here who can assist me?

  • How this works???

1.Buy from ebay link or shopping express website link provided in deal?

2.Go to Samsung page and submit some kinda form for cashback?

    • +1

Yes that's correct, there will be a form on the official Samsung page to fill out your information to get the cash back.

      • +1

Can we buy now and ask for redemption starting from 23 Nov? Or we have to buy from 23 Nov?

    • Probably will appear here

      https://www.samsung.com/au/offer/

  • +1

    am i understanding this correctly?
so if I buy the 1TB 860 evo for $199.2 tomorrow from shopping express after 9am, I will be able to claim $45 back from samsung?

    • +1

      Yes that's correct.

      • thanks mate, was looking for a 500GB drive, I guess I will be getting a 1TB now then… LOL

    • -2

Shopping express is not a participating seller so you will probably not get any cashback

      • I was wrong. Should havr edited my comment way earlier

  • +1

    As I bought 2 tonight for a pc build….

  • +1

Nearly pull the trigger to get the Evo 860 1TB under the $200 mark yesterday
    will wait now!

  • Are the NVMe's worth the extra guys? Will mainly be gaming & now need an SSD to go with my Ryzen 1700X & G.Skill Ripjaws RGB RAM deals posted here the last few days which are currently on the way from Newegg.. This is my first build & I'll mainly be using this for gaming & streaming, maybe some light video editing here & there. Thanks

    • Yes. I have one and wouldn't go back.

      • +2

Can you link to some evidence of real world perfomance for that, sounds like he's referring to gaming.

    • Which gpu u r using?

      • Haven't purchased it yet, currently building my first PC & in the process of ordering all the parts for the cheapest I can find.

    • You will barely notice the difference. Stick to 860 EVO. If you wanna spend more, spend on the higher size

  • +1

    I am so cut…. just ordered 2x 1tb…. URGH

  • Am just chatting to a Samsung rep and they don't know anything about this deal? Weird.

    • +1

Why would they tell you about a deal that's not officially announced?

"Hey guys, don't buy anything from us, wait til we're giving you a cashback"

Hello! I'm your Samsung sales agent, happy to assist you on any enquiries.
Hey there, I'm looking for info on the cash back offer on your SSDs please.
      Daren joined the chat
Good evening. Welcome to Samsung Australia`s Online Shopping Assistance. My name is Daren. How are you today?
May I ask if where did you purchase the SSD and where did you get that information?
      Are we still connected?
      Sorry yes
One sec I'll send the link
      https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/Samsung-EVO-PRO-SSDs-970-…
      Thanks for that information.
      Let me check on that.
May I place you on hold for about a minute or two?
      Sure
      Also, here : http://vi.raptor.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemDescV…
I see. Thanks for sharing that.
However, these retailers are not one of our partner retailers, David and I'm afraid we don't have a cashback promotion for the SSD cards.
So the cash back offer is not through Samsung?
That is absolutely correct. If the link you sent me is through our website which is www.samsung.com/au, that means it's a Samsung promotion.
      One sec please.
      Sure!
      Are we still connected?
      Yes
Can you have a read here please
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/418696

That promotion is only exclusive on other retailers.
Yes. That is correct, unfortunately. We don't have a promotion for cashback with the SSDs here in Samsung.
The promotion varies from retailer to retailer.
That's from Ebay, and that's different, especially Ebay is not a partner retailer.

      • Hmm that's really weird, both pages link to Samsung.

        • Hopefully things will be clearer tomorrow otherwise JV will be after you lol

          • @gimli: If it's not legit, I'll be very angry at myself for posting lol..

        Samsung page is live.

    • Cheers. P.s. Username doesn't check out :P

Cash back on anything usually takes months. I've had experience with Samsung, government rebates and cash rewards. They are all awesome but be prepared to wait.

    • +7

Were you unable to use the SSD while you waited for the cashback?

Someone who waited for the lower price would not have been able to use the drive during that wait time.

  • 4tb and 2tb SSD prices ?

    • But unfortunately neither ShoppingExpress nor eBay are listed as participating resellers.

eBay doesn't need to be listed, it doesn't matter where you buy it from as the store gives you an invoice that doesn't mention eBay.

    Hmm so it seems I'll pick up a 1tb and a 2tb drive instead of 2x 2tb evo860

    • I couldn't find any 2TB deal. Could you?

  • Best to read about the participating resellers on the official Samsung page:
    https://www.samsung.com/au/offer/ssd-cashback/

Eg. Futu Online is not included on the list, though they are cheaper than shopping square for those of us without eBay plus.

  • -1

shopping express is not on that list. KS computer may be associated with shopping express but they have different ABNs.

  • +3

So guys, any good deal from Participating Resellers

  • Is Shopping Express reputable? Years ago, I heard they were a bit dodgy.

        • did your invoice match the participating reseller req ? ie
          K.S COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY [ABN 59 074 527 763] / SHOPPING EXPRESS website

          • @mauricem: I paid with gift cards, so no paypal invoice.

            • @sudoroot: thanks, but you still get an invoice from vendor dont you? This is what you'd need for cashback??

              • @mauricem: when the item is shipped out. which will be tomorrow if sudoroot made the purchase this weekend

So shopping-express-clearance store (on eBay) is recognized by Samsung as part of this promo ?

    • it isn't on the list… so i'd be assuming no it isn't…

Yes, the offer is advertised in the description of the SE ebay deal.
