      • I went to the Optus store and the salesmen helped me right away with the porting, as long as you have the details of the old account. (account number ect.)

  • Just got one for $120 in North Sydney. Great price, thanks OP

I went ahead and bought it even if the ad flyer says 6 months and also the actual starter pack states 180 day expiry.

So when it was activated i used the My Optus App to check my service and it is indeed 365 day expiry so the system puts you on that new updated service :)

Here's the photos of the packs i encountered for those still seeing the flyer and old stock starter pack.

    • Thanks. Very helpful photos!

  • Damn it! Just grab a $150 coles 365 day(with 36G data) sim two weeks ago! And now Kogan 365 SMALL plan is just $152.10 (https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-mobile-prepaid-voucher-co…), 3G PER MONTH.
This optus one is actually much cheaper!

  • just picked up a pack at Parramatta Westfield (NSW) for $120, pack says 6 months but I was assured it's 365 days

  • Just went to Huntsville Optus shop for the sim, the girl has no idea of the discount, I asked her to scan the sim and it is $120. The pack expires on 01/10/20.
They told me to activate the sim within 30 days to get the deal. ( porting is ok ).
Receipt : Optus prepaid 365 days voice sim. ( the pack only has $ 180 prepaid mobile phone sim on it, no mention of the 365 days. ) so i guess this receipt is important , just in case the plan being cut short)

  • Some cheaper prepaid roaming packs (like Vodafone) and VoLTE/VoWifi (like Telstra) would make this the deal to beat.

I've always thought it's strange they can't at least offer $10 for 1GB in Singapore on SingTel (who owns them).

  • oh man, so many options these days around $10 each month for mobiles…gonna check back in march for this deal for my household, thought of have my household on Belong but seems like there's issue so i'm going to get this and i'm gonna use Belong sim card…

port in-port out each month kind of tired for me…still have 12 voda sim card left.

  • Does this have global roaming capabilities? If so, any extra costs?

Can you port in from Amaysim?

      Yep

Worked in Adelaide rundle mall store. I had to go out in 46 Degrees to Optus store to get this offer, and store person said they are not aware for this deal. i ask tham scan the card and it was actually $120. Thanks OP.

    • Cheers, it's cooler today so might be worth a walk down there :)

  • Chirnside also had no idea, bummer.

  • +1

Got one, card says 6 months but receipt says 365 days.

    • must be old card before they making changes to 365 days…

  • I can wait to purchase this deal!! Thanks OP

Sold out at Forest Hill, Vic.

Manager said more stock will come in and promotion still has a couple more months to run.

  • +2

Bought from Elizabeth Store. Manager came out and warned me that this is specifically for a 6month plan and that they are unsure when the 365 packs will come. Also said clearly that they wont do refunds if it activated for 6 months only. Bought anyways based on comments here and activated to be 365 days.

Inglefarm: out of stock from when I called a few hours ago
Northpark: guy on phone wouldn't tell me the price and asked me to come in to store instead (on a 46 degrees day)
Parabanks: girl on phone said the store is franchised so they don't offer this promotion, though, Elizabeth store is also franchised and does offer it. Person at Elizabeth store said they would let them know over the phone

    Thanks OP

    • I just went to Parabanks. The man there couldn't guarantee the sim card will last for 365 days either (6 months printed on the pack), but they do offer the card at $120. They also said I can't port my existing number, must use a new number…
He recommended me to come back a few weeks later as they haven't received the updates from the marketing team, so almost everything is unknown yet.

      • Lady at Elizabeth store said I am able to port into optus. I tried activating the sim about 23 hours ago and still waiting for the port to complete so unsure whats going on there. Will update if it goes through today

is your current number with optus? or with another company using optus network? If so, you wont be able to port i think

        • Current with Kogan which uses Vodafone network. Bought last year when they had the 365 days BOGOF promotion. It still has a few weeks to end…
Thank you for the updates :)

  • This deal feels like it was designed to be ozbargined with the whole come into store thing. Not sure why they’d promote prepaid tho. It doesn’t help with ARPU does it??

  • Do you know if i can port from Catch Connect to Optus since they are the same Optus network? Thanks

  • Can you call 13/1300 numbers for free and also 1800 numbers

    • +1

      Yes, according to this.

Included Minutes (MyTalk) Standard Australian mobiles and landlines, 13/1300 numbers and Voicemail. Charged per minute - Unlimited.

      • Thanks for that. It doesn’t mention what the charge is for 1800 numbers

    • +1

Good question, glad that it's been answered. I have a Telstra home phone with free calls, mobiles, interstate etc. but they charge 30c a call to 13/1300 numbers. It's a rip off. (Phone is bundled with a cable plan)

  • Available in Sydney too.

  • you can expected that staff from the stores don't know or unaware and give misinformation, from what i know reading in here so far 6 month expiry on starter pack is from old starter pack and you will be on 365 days not 6 months…must activate within 30 days of purchase.

  • +2

Is this available for existing optus numbers on sim only (out contract period)? Anyone tried?

    • I want to know this too..

    • Did you ever get an answer to this?

  • +1

Can this SIM be used in a tablet? (ie. just use it for data).

  • Stock in world square Sydney. Staff knew about it and has sold a few today.

    • they must be from ozbargain…

      • +7

They were seen holding Eneloops and complaining about eBay. Definitely from Ozbargain.

        • Professionals.

  • +3

This insanely cheap! $10 a month for 5gb and unlimited calls/sms. I don’t think Kogan can beat this.

  • Can you get larger than 60gb?

  • bought one from garden city brisbane. plenty in stock.

  • Is it available in Perth?

    • Yes. Unsure if still in stock, worth a check.

  • Is anyone able to confirm whether you can port from a provider that uses Optus network to this?. I’m not with Optus but I believe the provider I’m with uses the Optus network.

Am I also able to keep my number

    • Yep to both

    • Not when I tried yesterday - if you want to keep your number.
I'm currently Coles (uses Optus) wanting to get in on this deal.
Could not be done in store on their system as Optus already sees me as an existing user despite being "Coles" sim. She even rang someone higher up and confirmed couldn't be done.
Thus, have to port to Telstra or Voda and then grab this deal to port in as "new customer".

If you don't care about retaining number and happy to get a new number then I believe you can do it there and then.

  • Can you port number from Amaysim.. Might pick up from Adelaide today

  • Will this work in an iPad just for data?

  • went to edwardstown in SA, lady said it must be activated in store before they let you go…..

might have to go to another store.

  • +1

Poster up in Canberra Centre store with this offer.

  • Confirming availability in Tassie - Elizabeth St Mall, Hobart

    • Is it available in Hobart?

      • Yeah there was plenty of stock

  • Highpoint Maribyrnong store don't have a clue about this deal.

  • Thanks OP! I got one at Box Hill Centro, Vic for $120. Expires on March 2020. Pack said only 6 months, but guy assured when you sign up online, and you select the $180 option, it's 365 days.

  • Once the 365 days is up how much is it to renew/ recharge?

    • +1

The price they ask for in 12 mths time…

    • LOL.

  • Can you buy two packs with one to use now, and one to renew in 12 months (if the expiry is long enough)?

    • Has to be registered in March 2019 I think..

      • +1

From page 1 posts - sim has to be activated within 30 days of purchase

  • Thanks for the post. What would be the best option for this plan to make occasional calls to New Zealand?

  • Hi all. I just purchased a new sim with the 60GB for $120 deal at Optus Doncaster shop. So the deal is legit. The guy in the store said we got the last SIM card for this deal so they must have allocated specific sims just for this deal. I guess when the sims run out the deal is finished so depends on the store. Suits our usage so this was a great deal, thanks OP.

why people keep saying expire xx/2020? doesn't matter if expire xx/2030 but there's a thing with 30 days within purchase date

    • I don't quite understand… Does that mean the pack I just bought fo $120 with expiry listed as 2020, will be valueless and useless if not activated within 30 days ?
Seems like that would be unlawful, false advertising, and against consumer law.

      • Read my comment below. The staff explained to me and it matched the PDF I found regarding the terms and conditions. In short, Optus have the rights to withdrawn the 12 months prepaid plan at any time and officially, they are saying that will have this plan active for 30 days.

    • +3

No, the staff explained to me. You can activate any time before the expiry date. However, Optus do change their prepaid plans a lot so if you decided to wait and Optus stopped offering this pre-paid plan, then you will only be able to get whatever the replacement $180 plan Optus come up with.

Basically, they won't promise they will keep the plan until 2020 - and that's understandable as Optus already changed it from 6 months to 12 months. The 30 days is just a very conservative promise that Optus won't change it for 30 days.

      • thanks..makes sense

        • Particularly makes sense when I bought the sim today and it said on the packet $180 60GB 6 months expiry. However, when activated it's 12 months expiry and only cost me $120. Porting from Vodafone took a matter of minutes

  • The idiot at Strathfield Plaza charged me $120 but gave me a data only SIM card worth $20 with 90Gb data expiring in 1 montth. Only noticed when I installed the SIM card for my son's phone.Have to revisit shop again today. Hope they still have this in their shop.

    • happen to me onnce brought wrong sim got data only sims…that's one of the thing hate about optus, hope people in here post more picture of sim card.

Out of stock in Sydney city at World Square and Optus on George.

Looks like some professionals have cleared out the store before I got there!

  • +1

The guy at the Bourke St Mall store checked stock across Melbourne CBD and he said there is none left.

    Hopefully there's more coming in!

    • The guys at Bourke St told me they will be getting new stock next week. I guess the promotion will continue

  • Very hard to track down those cards in Perth.
I've tried this morning including contacting five stores

    • Sounds like they running out of stock. Try the suburbs.

    • How did you contact the stores? When I call the optus number, it says you can no longer contact the stores?

      • I rang them.

In the arvo I had to go to Innaloo so I tried again and they dug out two from the store room that they didn't think they had.

I'll make sure I activate them within the month

  • +1

Got one from Westfield Belconnen Canberra, plenty stock left.

  • Don't worry, this is the promotion for Optus EOFY, and usually they run special online only, this is designed to clean all old packages (6 months on the pack) so in store only. However new stocks with new package (365 days) are on the way.

  • +1

Doing a speed comparison between optus and kogan, kogan (voda) is significantly faster in Sydney CBD.

  • +2

Comm'on Kogan, bring back the BOGOF 365day deal:)

  • Doncaster (shoppingtown) all sold out.
Went to Doncaster East, where the staff are always in a class of their own. Not only did they not have any, but both the guy out front and the manager(?) informed me Optus has never had a 12 month prepaid plan with calls included - it's data only for 6 mnths.

    • Did you show then this thread? (Leave your post too just show page 1)

  • Sold out at The Glen. Wasn’t sure if/when more stock was coming.

  • I wonder if you can do the simswap credit adding method, then use this $180 for 365 days.
Ie. Could simswap $30 sim 6 times, then you have $180 credit (but technically has 30 day expiry, that credit, as it was added in increments of $30) .
Then could I activate $180 for 365 days plan, using my $180 credit ?
That credit would have to be attached to some plan, maybe long life plan, then would be hopefully switching 'plans' but not losing credit.

Note. If buy $30 simpacks for $5 each, would work out $30 total, for this deal ;) . A bit of effort involve but worth it IMO, for the savings .

    • Wut?

  • Sold out at Murray St Mall, Perth.

  • Got it from Fremantle store. Apparently both the manager and staff dont know about it being 365 days even though the leaflet says 6 months. The manager has a sarcastic attitude when i showed him the Ozb post, saying it's an Ozbargain deal not an Optus deal until I insist he found the promotion in their internal system. Then when I ask if I can port my current Optus number to another provider then port back to this prepaid card, he called such operation as cheaky and illegal. Lol

    • Maybe against Optus terms and conditions (which I highly doubt), but not against any criminal act (i.e. illegal).

  • I had a look for it in my local store in Perth metro.
Found the card that benyboy posted the photo of.
On the front it states $180, crossed out and reads ‘now $120’.
It also states offer ends ‘31/3/19’ , and 6 months expiry.
On the reverse, as on benyboy’s post, it states 365 day expiry!!
I took the card with me.
I spoke with the dude and he said to come back when I am ready to port and it
    will only take 15 minutes.
I still have 20 days left on my current month to month to use.
It sounded like the plan will be readily available, but I am not so sure…..

    • Should be ok as long as you have the pack ready to go and activate it before 31/3/19 you will be put on the current Optus $180 Epic value 365 days promo.

      • I think it would be ok up to 30/04. If they are selling up to 31/03 and you have 30 days to activate it should be ok, as others on here are stating that Optus it’s saying 30 days because they can change the Offer in the near future

    • Why didn't he just sell the card to you?
