  • Perfect for me because my kogan plan expires next month. Kogan small 365 plan is currently $152 for 3Gb data/month, this deal beats it. Hopefully more and more providers begin to offer annual plans so we get better deals as consumers. Got mine from Mirrabooka WA if anyone is asking.

  • Good deal but I need unlimited international calls… so nah

  • Well if Kogan can't come up with a better deal, then I'm porting to Optus for the next 12mths. Kogan if you're listening!

    • +1

Kogan has been slipping BADLY lately.
I had already decided to leave them

  • Great value indeed. Works out on average at $10 per month for 5GB data and unlimited calls. Im in!

  • I went to several optus around Brisbane's South yesterday, WOFTAM! from not being able to call a shop directly to being scoffed at because nobody has stock! Anyone had success in Brizzy?

    • Garden City has plenty of stock, picked one up yesterday.

  • +1

Went to few stores in Melb, no ons has stockes or they dont know whether there will be more coming or not.

  • Can I get this deal if I'm already a direct Optus customer with an expired contract?

  • +1

Went to the store today but the guy activated my SIM card straight away and I said no no, I though the activation date is within 30 days of purchase. He then said you have to get it activated straight away when you purchase this in store. This deal is running until 31 March 2019, so come back anytime to the store when you’re ready to get it.

you got played budddy…that's load of bs. might tell us that store name so people who around that area be aware

So to simplify things into a nutshell….

This is a promotion for the "Optus $180 / 60GB SIM Starter kit"

To make matters simple for everyone just ask for the "Optus $180 / 60GB SIM Starter kit" when you go into the local Optus store.

Dont worry as it will scan for $120 with 365 days expiry.

    See details here:
    https://offer.optus.com.au/shop/prepaid/sim-card/180-sim?SID=con:prep:exp:2:jan19:prep:$180sim:12months

This kit originally had 6 months expiry but has recently changed to 365 days expiry as is shown on the provided link.

The price is discounted by $60 from $180 to $120 until 31 March 2019

    • "To make matters simple for everyone just ask for the "Optus $180 / 60GB SIM Starter kit" when you go into the local Optus store."

some guy in here claims got wrong pack for data sims…

      • Store/staff issue.
        Can't be helped

There is only 1 Optus $180 / 60GB SIM Starter kit as shown on thier web site here:
        https://offer.optus.com.au/shop/prepaid/sim-card/180-sim?SID=con:prep:exp:2:jan19:prep:$180sim:12months

NOTE: Up to 50GB of unused data can be rolled over upon prompt renewal (before expiry)

  • None at Pacific Fair, Gold Coast
    Two remaining st Helensvale Westfield.
    Confirmed $120

I went to the optus store in Carlingford NSW, the guy told me they are franchised, so it’s $130 not $120, faint!!!

  • Thanks OP managed to get this. Here is both sides of the flyer that the Optus store has displayed.

  • Walked into an Optus Store yesterday and they advised that the deal has ended due to unprecedented sign ups. He is not sure whether it will return. Please advise if you were able to avail yourself this deal.

  • Went back to Optus Strathfield Plaza to get my SIM card changed to the epic value instead ofthe data only which they incorrectly gave me and they told me the promotion has not started and will only start in 2 to 3 weeks and will call me. What a bunch of morons. So stuck with a $20 data plan when I paid $120.

    • +1

      Refund?

    • why they drag this shit on? just give refund…

    • Same happened to me. Will be going back today to get it sorted.

  • Possible to start a tally/table on where we have managed to find stock? Will save ozb-ers (runaround) and various Optus (same question via phone or in-store, mostly ozb-ers) shops from headaches.

  • Ocean Keys, Clarkson had a bunch of the empty cards hanging up showing 6 months for $180 with "now $120" on them (and 365 days on the back) - but no actual stock!

  • +1

Thanks OP just picked up 3.

    • +1

Where from? Did that store have any left?

      • +1

Had around 5 left- in Charlestown

  • +3

No stock in NSW - Broadway, Marrickville, George St, World Square, Hurstville.

    • +2

There's also no stock in Strathfield, Ashfield and Burwood Plaza :(

      • +1

No stock in Rouse Hill, Castle Hill, Mac Park and Chatswood

      • +1

Stock in Strathfield, I just got one. They went through the registration process on the spot which was fine for me as I was ready to switch

  • Does that mean we have to control ourselves if 60GB supposed to be for the entire year?

    • Well, yes. I had 42GB for the year on last year's Coles deal. Still have around 20GB left and only about 4 week to go until it expires. Pity that plan doesn't roll over.

Just avoid streaming video and 60GB should be plenty.

  • i went to many places today, no one has stock or never seen this product. I asked them, can I buy a $2 and buy a $180 recharge credit but only pay $120…no. Can I buy it online or order…no. so what should I do if I want to buy it… keep looking!!
I think it is another bait advertising from Optus. Just want to ask how can I stop a company do this again?

  • How can I use these with my current number that's with Optus? The guy at the shop I went to said I can't port my number to it since it's a Starter Pack?

  • I just managed to pick one up at Whitfords store.
I went to Midland Gate but sold out. So sat down and rang all stores till I found stock. Don’t think they have many left. Hopefully worth the 40 minute drive! Just waiting for it to port over now from Amaysim. She did ask ‘6 months’ and I said no, 12! She said the two plans were available.

    • Don't get too excited for a today port - public holiday. :)
I did mine Saturday lunch and got the 'port' this morning. Check your receipt that it states 365 day.

      • Mine ported within an hour surprisingly. I was on Telstra which might have helped

        • +1

Yep, it came across. Took an hour or so but all good now.
          60gb for 365 days.
          Happy Jan!!

        • I was hopping over from Telstra as well. The 3hr time diff maybe? Has pretty much always been within 30min with my other ports done on regular work days.
It's done now so that's the main thing.

  • No stock at Warringah Mall or Warriewood NSW :(

  • I showed this (post & deal) to my cousin and he was interested for his family. Funnily enough, he seemed more confused because of the comments (LOL) and I just told him to get the "Optus $180 / 60GB SIM Starter kit" from an Optus store.

It's basically hit or miss if the (franchised) Optus store has the sim card in stock or not?

Judging from the comments, it seems Optus store staff have no idea of this deal and/or giving customers the run around.

Hi cuz if you're reading this!

  • Too much headache in this one..being di*ked around by optus. Went Kogan large ~$150. Quick and easy.

  • 4 left at Richmond, NSW

    • double post

  • I saw one left at Salamander Bay, NSW yesterday.

  • +1

Just got one at the Bourke St Mall, idk how many left in stock though

    • Thanks got one from Bourke st mall. They did not have when I went on last Thursday, but said they are getting stock this week, seems like they got new stock.

    • Got one at Bourke St Mall too. They must have restocked today.

  • Just bought one from Brisbane CBD store. Thanks.

  • +3

Plenty of stock in Port Macquarie (NSW). I just rang and the guy said oh, you mean the $120 deal. Yes we've got lots. Haven't sold any yet.

First time I've been glad I'm in a regional town for a deal 😀

BTW - who on earth negged this deal? Even if you don't like Optus, it's a great bargain.

  • I got mine. 😃

  • I got mine. 😃

    • +2

To be sure, to be sure 😀

  • +1

I got one at the Optus store 253 Bourke St Melb (don't know how many they had there)

  • purchased 2 for the missus and I,
North Sydney staff member was knowledgeable about the deal and looked as if I was the 10th customer asking for it today,
no obvious posters or deal promoted in store though.

  • Going to try and pick 2 up today - will report back if store has stock… in SA.

    • +2

At this rate of competition other telcos/resellers will catch up and match or beat this deal one would think it would be $120 or less in a year's time.

Let's see how it pans out, worst case it will be back to $180.

      • Thanks sorry I edited my comment to take that question out… are you allowed to purchase more than one at a time?

        • +1

Yes, doesn't seem to be restricted to 1.

  • +3

All this out-of-stock business is ridiculous.
Optus are even advertising on the radio for this one.
How on earth do you run out of SIM cards so quickly when you are running a promotion for over 2 months?

    • Because they completely underestimated the size of the savvy market. They think everyone just signs up to a dumb contract including a phone. And indeed, most do.

  • Can anyone already used this plan to confirm, whether optus charge for call divert on this plan? Thanks

  • +1

Out of stock again at Chadstone, Vic!! Seems they got restocked a day or two ago but all fine again. That's two failed attempts to get these for my kids. Ah well….Kogan might have a BOGOF before in able to get the Pptus sims which would be a better deal on the Kogan medium plan plus a better network in my area in Malvern East.

  • The Optus store at The Pines Elanora QLD didn't seem to have any starter packs at all. They only seemed to have the $2 sim cards.

They of course didn't know about this deal.

  • +1

I checked 3 Optus stores in Melbourne CBD (2 on Bourke Street, 1 on Collins Street) yesterday and all were out of stock. Did anyone get hold of this deal today in Melbourne CBD?

    • +1

No , tried early this morning, no stocks

  • It's a shame they charge $10 for that first international SMS!

It's minimum upfront $10. Then you can send a dozen or so texts. Instead of being charged per sms!

    • Why wouldn't you just use email instead?

    • Isn't international sms included in the unlimited texts?

    • +1

How do they charge this on a pre-paid sim if they don't have credit card details?

  • +1

Got 2 at Rundle Mall in Adelaide - packaging says 6 months but was assured it's 365 days.

How hard is it to port number from Amaysim as they wanted to do it in store (my existing credit doesn't expire for 14 days so going to use that up first)

    • I got the same package stating 6 months but activated for 365 days. I ported from Vodafone and it only took a few minutes

      • +1

Thanks Matt.. I checked the receipt and it states 365 on that so all good I guess.

  • +1

Has anyone ported in and back? I am currently an optus post paid member and I can't get this deal which is ludicrous. Does anyone know the cheapest and fastest way to port in and out?

    • Port out and then back in? Yeah, like I did, get another non Optus partner $2 starter sim and port over to them. Wait a day then go back to Optus shop for this deal.

      • That's where the free Telstra SIM comes in.

        • Saw that the other day, think they had $30 sim for $8 or something similar as well but didn't want the wait. :) I only had 2 days left on my existing prepaid.

      • What sim did you go for? and di you have to pay a porting fee either way?

      • From what I am looking at it's an 8$ in and 8$ out fee is this what you paid?

  • Anyone able to get this deal anywhere in Sydney today?

  • In Brisbane i got one today at the Adelaide Street post office square store. The guy said they had 4 left. Queen Street and Carindale are out of stock

    • None left at Adelaide Street now, they sold the last one this afternoon.

Went to the Queen Street store and they advised they just got a delivery of new stock this afternoon so that was lucky!

  • +2

I got one from the Optus store in Melbourne Central.

Porting over from catch connect was painful.

    Initiated at 1230.
Lost coverage at 0900 the next day.

    Activating card was also painful.
    Activated at 1000.
    Still hadn't happened at 1500.

Had to call up and then it happened 20 minutes later.

  • Got one at Parramatta Westfield (NSW). Guy said it was 1 per customer, and was very insistent on activating it in-store. Had to reassure him I knew what to do online. Also was told that it would only work on non-optus/non-optus reseller numbers porting in.

    • Has anyone actually been able to use their existing Optus or Optus reseller number with this deal. Previous posts seem to indicate it can work

  • if i want a simcard to just forward all incoming calls to another number, is this the cheapest deal available to do that for a year?

    • I checked with them they said this was fine. Note Melbourne Central just got stock.

  • +1

Optus victoria strert Richmond Melbourne - just received delivery - bought 2 - approx 10 in stock 4pm today

  • Rockdale and Kogarah stores in NSW. No stock

  • My local store is also out of stock but said they will have more by the end of this week.
They took my number and will call me.
    Lets see

  • +1

    thanks..scored 1 from Optus World Square, Sydney…they had i think 1 or 2 more left…

    • What time was it? I went there at 1230 today and the guy said they had no stock without checking!
