      • 17:30ish…I was told the same, but then she said let me check and they had a few…

  • Is the new stock show 365 days on the package? As old ones show 180 days?.

    • It doesn't matter what the package says, the key part is it must be a $180 SIM. Currently, for a $180 SIM, you can activate the 365 days plan. However, Optus won't guarantee that plan will be available until Oct 2020 - hence they are asking people to activate soon (i.e. within 30 days).

  • New stock arrived at Garden City, QLD. Got one today.

Packaging has "60GB 6 months expiry" wraparound over a $180 Prepaid Mobile Phone SIM, but the item on the receipt is listed as "Optus Prepaid 365Day Voice SIM".

Bought a sim for my daughter to port from kogan. Online page kept cycling between the pages of activation and port/new number. Daughter decided to contact online customer service, and was activated with a brand new number without asking whether to port or not. And even worse, CS fooled her saying this sim cannot port existing number, to do this we needed to buy a $2 sim from the shop.

Once again it's proved Optus is crap, not worth all the hastle at all. Should have paid $30 more to continue with Kogan.

Now on the way to fix/complaint, and there is no helpline CS on duty ATM :(

    • The "pain" of Optus CS is legendary.

      Update to my previous post.

The 2nd day we went to store. Store rep was very helpful and admitted straight away that the online chat support had not done the right thing. With his help we eventually get the old number ported over successfully.

Sometimes it's luck, depends on who is on the peer side.

      • +1

Thanks for the update, and being fair to Optus despite its many flaws.

CBD Optus store had stock yesterday… Although they did make me wait 25 minutes…

  • Stock at Parramatta Westfield, but they won't give it to you unless you activate it there and then.
I tried asking for the manager and arguing, no luck.
What you can do though is to have a time for the activation scheduled. If you give an incorrect birth date then I would assume the activation doesn't go through and you can activate it later over the phone. Just a working theory though.

    • When there is a will there's a way :)

    • I managed to buy one home from Parramatta, but he took some details and said there would be no refunds.

Got fed up waiting for stock to be available - so I went with the Catch Connect deal instead (365, 42GB for $99.50)

    • +1

Just moved from Catch after they stuffed up the billing on a deal, ripped me off $60 then changed the ToS mid-Sale. Beware that lot is all I'll say.

  • +1

Just walked into the Gouger Street store in Adelaide and got one - they have plenty. If Rundle Mall is out, head out of town :)

  • I just got a call from Murray St Mall store - they've got some stock now (too late for me as I'd already taken the CatchConnect deal).

  • Just bought one at Bourke St, Melbourne with no issues - did not have to activate in store!

    • Same!

  • Able to get one in BANKSTOWN. Store rep insisted to active today to make it work. Contacted online chat, they says activate within 30 days. Emailed myself chat transcript if anything happens.

  • Got the last one from North Syd yesterday. Also went to Macquarie centre and it appears they have plenty. Just ported number from Aldi and it took only a few minutes even though I did it outside business hours. Pleasantly surprised!

  • went in store today and was told you have to activate in store and you can't keep your old number. anyone else told this?

    • +1

that's wrong, I had same issue but i still insist to give me the pack as is. and I walk off from the store and did online activation / porting all worked. Without any issues…

    • Some store staff are inventing the rules.
You can ALWAYS port your phone number

  • Does the $10 discount apply for current Optus members or no? (I am also currently on Optus Postpaid)
    Referring to this

    • You can negotiate a discount for two postpaid services. This is prepaid.

      • Oh dang.
        Thanks

  • Just got one 5 mins ago from Optus Store next to Apple Store on George St, Sydney CBD. Girl said they have a bunch of about 10. Did not have to activate but did need to enter some details like name, contact number, address etc.

    • +2

Yes, Randwick NSW store the same.
Need to activate before end of promotion.
They gave me the Prepaid 60GB/180 day starter kit but it scanned as 365 days.

They also suggested bringing it instore to activate if you are porting your phone number as Optus customer service have just been allocating a new phone number upon activation as some have complained here.

      • Good advice on activating instore, thanks. I have the same 60Gb/180days kit but the receipt shows 365 days. I did tell the girl there may be a rush on the kits as this is one of the better deals going at the moment lol.

      • More crappy Optus "customer service". Can't even do a port in correctly. Go figure. I'm getting a good NBN package with them with 6 months to go. $80 for Fetch TV, all the channels and a free speed boost to 100/40 mbps but it's been a overly painful experience getting it all going, lots of arguing with them to get the deal I negotiated on chat - with all the evidence kept by me - and getting the billing corrected on many occasions. If the price goes up at the end of the contract I'll buy myself a Fetch box (which works well) and get a data plan with aussie broadband or similar and happily part ways with Optus after 19 years.

  • Anyone have an idea of stock at Chadstone or Knox Westfield in Victoria? My kids' Kogan month extension on the Small plan runs out tomorrow! At this stage if I buy them another Kogan month then I'll have to wait a week before buying an optus plan so we don't lose a week of the Kogan extension under the 30 day extension. Then with some luck we will get a Kogan BOGOF offer and Optus can then get stuffed! This lack of stock is ridiculaous and you can't reserve one either, at least not at Chadstone. They just say, "try again in a day or two when we may have received some more". Or not…..or they sell out again. Bah!!

    • +1

Bourke St & Collins St had plenty Yday..

    • +1

Cudos to OP though :-) This is a good deal if you can get a sim and if Optus don't stuff up the port in.

  • +1

Anyone’s porting taking a long time? Mine has been over 24 hours

    • Porting from Vodafone with 2 phones took only a few minutes

    • Porting from Amaysim was <12 hrs, though I did 5 min. online chat with Optus consultant who able to do transfer for me.

    • Took them 11 days to port my number from virgin mob after numerous contact with them.. My virgin sim was still working for 9 days and after 3 "successful" attempts

    • Porting from Amaysim took less than 2 hours but I did it instore

  • +1

Westfield Doncaster and box Hill central outlets have stock

  • No stock at Doncaster. At least this time I didn't have to wait 15 mins to be told no stock. Giving up on this deal. Wasted enough time on it.

  • Glen Waverley Optus has stock.

  • Heaps of stock at box hill

  • Scored one at camberwell yesterday (after getting past, "yes I know it says6 months" and " yes I know it says $180).
Having said that, I checked the plan afterwards and it was set to something screwy (28days, 90gb) and online chat were hopeless so I went back to the store. Seemed to have been sorted overnight so finally all good. I had forgotten what joys telcos were to deal with. Many thanks to the OP and the other posters for their advice

    • My Optus app is showing the 28 days 90gb too. Did the store do anything to fix it? Or did it fix itself overnight?

  • Stock at Knox Westfield store in Victoria yesterday afternoon,,,,finally got two for the kids and got the store staff to activate the cards and do the porting requests instore due to the Kogan plans expiring the same day. This morning I inserted the sims and both services had been ported. Note that I also got an SMS from Kogan on one of the new Optus sims that the non-active Kogan prepaid service had been auto-recharged this morning so I had to call Kogan mobile to get a refund. I can no longer log into either of the Kogan accounts this morning so the service had been terminated. Something to watch out for if you are porting in!

  • See many of this "take me to counter" paper on the shelf in Queabeyan Optus. Bought one myself and was assured that it is 12 month expiry. Waiting for my kogan to expire.

  • Bought one but anywhere to check if I got the right sim?
Yes it said 6 months expiry $180.
I am waiting for my plan to expire but want to check earlier in case something is not right!

    • +1

Maybe try to activate it but cancel on the last screen. Somewhere in between, it says to select the plan and there's only one option which says 365 days i believe. I don't remember the exact details sorry

  • +1

Stock at Parkmore Shopping Centre, Keysborough, VIC 3173. Bought mine today.

    • Do you have to activate the sim on the spot?

      • No

  • Got one at Rundle mall store and the guy said it's best to activate instore because online activation is risky if you want to keep your own nunber. What are your thoughts?

    • +1

The guy has no idea. Ported from Kogan to Optus in less than 5 minutes. Easy.

      • +1

Same. Activated online and ported from Kogan in less than 2 minutes

        • Can you please kindly confirm that you still can keep your old number? Thanks

    • They told me the same at Rundle so I just activated instore to be fair they were pretty quick.

    • Told me you can’t keep an Optus number but any other network they can port to this Optus plan no problem

  • Just picked one up at Sunnybank store. They hide the stock solution in the drawer you just have to ask and show them this poster. Simplez

  • None in stock at Chatswood Westfield Optus or parramatta Westfield Optus

  • My cousin said that the staff at his local Optus store didn't know about the offer.

They had to look it up on their computer to see if the offer was legit.

  • You guys are so lucky to buy one. I went to many Optus shop, all said they haven't got stock.
the big one in Macquarie shopping centre, the girl said they have never seen one…

  • Out of stock at Chadstone today. They said likely Tuesday or Wednesday.

  • Anyone able to port-in online without any problems? I'll be porting-in from KOGAN in about 2 weeks.

    • I was able to port-in online in 12 hours from KOGAN.

      • 12 hours???? OMG.
Was the port request made during weekday working hours?

  • Got one from Westfield Hornsby. On the pack it says $180 but the discount was $60.

  • Got 2 from Westfield Chermside. In stock

  • +1

Thanx Op, got 2 from the Optus store in World Sq (Sydney)

  • +1

As there is no prominent advertising for this plan and nothing on the website as well, I believe 99% of the people who took this plan are on OZB :)

    • Optus placed some radio adverts

  • I ported my catch 90 day to Optus.. As I still had one month to go.. i schedule with store for a future date.. but next day goof..it got ported.. called store they sorted the issue & gave 30$ credit for extra data. This was applied wrongly & i got only 5 GB extra. called customer Care they gave another 30$ credit for data.. are they really making money in these deal.. or they are sucking money from postpaid with iphoneXR and giving it to us..

  • Went to a store today, they said it can only be a new number. You cannot port your old number in.. is this correct?

    • Cant be an optus number but you can port in from a diff provider.

      • ok! Thanks

      • +1

Actually it is possible with an optus number, had it done at Top Ryde. However it probably comes down to who you're dealing with as it can be a little fiddly.

      • I was already on the Epic Value Prepaid Plan (same plan as this SIM). Called NorthPark (SA) store in the morning and asked if I was eligible for this promotion, was basically told no. Went in person later that evening, asked again and was told yes. I kept my old number and was in and out in 10 minutes.

    • Rubbish !
Does NOT have to be a new number.
      You can ALWAYS PORT! ALWAYS!

  • +1

Got one and ported from Belong. Porting took over 2 days.

  • +3

Cannot agree more that Optus CS lack of training and knowledge. On 3 separate occasion, I ported in 3 numbers from Kogan, Amaysim, Catch and at all ocassions, the porting just stuck and it couldn't be resolved by only one chat. Have to do at least 2 chat. At one occasion, the CS insisted that I have to supply account number even though I said I don't have one as I haven't connected and it is prepaid. Still not budging, so I ended the chat and redo with another person. More helpful, don't require account number, but still the porting wss not done until another chat. Gosh!

    • +1

Optus CS is just like that.. very frustrating at times. Best to use resellers if you want Optus without the pain.

  • Does anyone know whether streaming from Spotify is free on this plan?

      My God
You get 60GB of data to use throughout the year (5GB/mth on average)
You get unlimited calls and text.
There are no hidden costs or extra charges
You get to roll over any unused data for the next 12 months
It works out at only $10/mth
      And you want More?????

  • Heaps of stock @ Westfield tuggerah as of 4pm today
Not on display have to ask

  • i walked into the optus store at 169 maquarie street parramatta and got 2 for $240.
she asked me to activate it before march end.

  • i can port from amaysim and southern phone,no hassles.
one of the best deals as optus is a tier one provider. i think so.lol.

  • Anyone know if this applies everywhere at every store?

    • You mean Optus stores or like other stores like Coles?

So, every Optus store…yes. Some don't have the 365 day ones, but rather the 6 month $180 cards. However, it will say $120 when they scan it and it will last 1 year (I can personally confirm this). Some of the stores don't know about the deal yet, so even if they tell you that they can't guarantee it, just ask them to scan it and if it says $120 than you're fine.

I tried 2-3 Coles store and none of them seem to even have the standard 6 month $180 cards, no idea why.

      • Coles and Woolies only sell the high volume lines like recharges.

        • Yeah, just weird because both Optus stores I went to said Woolies and Coles should have it.

  • +2

Just grabbed two from the Southport Park store on the Gold Coast. No signage in-store. The stock is kept "out the back". Staff were happy enough to sell them but obviously trying to keep this deal as under wraps as possible. Ozbargain strikes again!

  • +1

Bought one from Rouse Hill store today and they have plenty. Kept at the back though and you'll have to ask for it.

  • Just picked one up from the castle towers store. Staff had to go out back to grab one, came in a $180 6 month package but scans as a $120 365 day one. Ported my number over on the spot with minimal fuss (have your account number handy)

  • There's a small stack at Warringah Mall. Staff member Mary picked one up from drawer under 'Prepaid' stand on left hand side wall.

  • Thanks OP. Bought one from Doncaster Westfield (Melb). Packaging still says 6 months expiry but I was assured its for 365 days by the store manager.

    • 365 days Should show on your receipt. Mine does. Make sure you check it and keep it. Certainly when you activate the SIM you will get confirmation.
But just check the Optus web site. Its all there.

  • Can you port from Coles Mobile ( which is an Optus Sim anyway )

    • You can port from any Australian mobile provider
