        • Yes they did. $429 for prime members. But that was a special promo for Amazon for that Black Friday. I based my rough estimates on the current prices, which range from $539-$649.

Keep in mind at $379 they have to pay shipping and eBay fees, so they likely clear closer to $320.

  • Someone mentioned Power Sellers can cancel orders and have them disappear without leaving feedback.

Should we preemptively leave bad feedback now (while order is in our history) in case they try to pull this?

    • And risk them not honouring your unit because you left negative feedback?? Not sure it's worth it.. can only hope they do the right thing.

    • +1

I would leave negative feedback now, then if they reply why you left negative feedback tell them BS like a family member also bought one and it was cancelled. You will revise feedback once the Xbox X is received :)

      • Good idea!

  • Just spoke with goodguys pricing error people getting a refund if purchased today
    But yesterday’s orders went through
Mine have all been sent sent with traciking
Jb got a letter all stores not to price match

    • +1

Are those the orders on the GG website or eBay?

    • That's bs then I ordered last night and was still cancelled??

      • GG website or eBay

        • GG Website due to voucher.

Shouldve went through eBay sigh…. :S:S

          • @shinpathy: Leave negative feedback through Google on the store you selected for pickup

        • -4

eBay order was shipped not the store

    • Why did you call up if yours have been sent?

  • +1

    Price error?

    For that long?

    • +2

      And restocking

      • you realise it's probably an automatic system restocking, right?

        • System is so bad, i think it is manually added

  • Any lawyers around?

I know a website sale may be "considered" an invitation to treat but can someone claim a pricing error if an item was restocked on four separate occasions apart from initial sale price at $379?

    ie.

    approx 11pm 29/01
    approx 12am 30/01
    approx 4am 30/01
    approx 11am 30/01

Don't know why i'm being negged unless it's from GG reps but there is such behaviour as:

      "misleading or deceptive conduct"

I know I'm providing this piecemeal but:

Pricing Obligations in the Australian Consumer Law

"The ACL requires prices to be clear and correct so that they do not mislead consumers, and to represent the total price of the product or service"

"Correct pricing is important because accurate prices help consumers make informed decisions in the marketplace. The ACL puts these consumer protections around pricing into place because consumers generally have less power compared to large retailers. In ensuring that there are clear rules about pricing and pricing practices, the ACL deters businesses from engaging in less-than-ideal pricing practices. "

And if you don't think that this is a grey area then here is an article where a Jeweller was forced to sell a $34,000 diamond ring for $1100:

      https://www.news.com.au/national/queensland/jeweller-forced-…

      • and then it says

"If a retailer incorrectly prices one isolated product, it is likely an error. In these cases, a retailer can follow their individual store policy to address the mistake. This means that a store may or may not honour incorrectly priced items depending on their policy. Store policies are usually displayed at the cash register, or contained in terms and conditions (for online businesses)."

        • +2

Did you read the article I linked to where the Jeweler was forced to pay his own
and the ring buyers legal fees and sell a $34,000 diamond ring for $1100????

I reiterate it's not as cut and dry as you might think.

Also the guy who won the ring case used contract law as his defense not the ACL.

So as I said many different avenues.

          • +1

@prxy: Yeah I read that article. Just wasn't sure whether in that particular case, the Jeweller may have a clause in their T&Cs such as the Good Guys'

            "20. Errors on Our Site

and also by purchasing from TGG,

Not a fan of TGG….. with all their pricing errors…

  • +1

if its a price error & they dont honor it they have no idea about good marketing, assume they pay $479 per unit (likely alot less) times that by 500 sold at $379, its a loss of $50,000 (100 per unit) to keep up to 500 customers happy, spin it as a media grab send out a email we stuffed up but are honoring the deal hope some media gets hold of it & their reputation is regarded outstanding & customers are happy, small loss to keep their reputation above standard

    • +1
      • I was puzzled why Amazon AU did not attempt to match this deal. I thought surely they would pressure Microsoft AU to let them clear their stock.

        • I would have gotten one if they did wasted ages checking to see if the GG Ebay store was showing back in stock but still missed out. Hopefully everyone who bought a Xbox one X gets it but it's not looking that likely.

  • Ordered one last night from eBay store.

Received cancellation email this morning at around 10. That was from one of TGG stores in QLD and I'm in VIC.

The problem with TGG is they are getting stock from TGG stores all over the country but not from the warehouse.

    Very poor system indeed.

    • Are you able to leave bad feedback even though GG is a power seller?

Some people have said you can't.

      • You need 98% positive to be a power seller, they are not.

    • Received cancellation email this morning at around 10.

And they sold 50 more at 11am

      • I think apart from the earlier click and collect orders , over 95% of online delivery orders will be cancelled regardless of ordered from eBay or main website.

    • Agree their system is dodgy the way it sources from local stores. I'd say it is quite possible for C+C orders to be cancelled early, but for delivery we will just have to wait and see.

      • My order was for delivery not click and collect

      • Actually, the reality is C+C from local store has a better chance to get it. That is because the stores tend to treat them as online store sales. They are just doing the fulfilment for TGG online store. They are reducing their stock level (which they don't mind).
Delivery fulfilment by the stores has a slightly more complicated workflow and the stores would do them in a batch. Due to the longer workflow, the chance of having it cancelled is higher.

  • Even the XBox One S has disappeared from their site.

  • +2

    Truly pathetic PR

  • So wait for your voucher, like I received with last Samsung Note 8 price error.

  • Has anyone received a working tracking number?

    • Not even a non working

    • TGGXB1XCYV00021

      • Lol… well the last part after TGGXB1X is the same format as my tracking number.

  • +1

Suggestion, can we get this deal officially marked as pricing error? Or, because some people did get theirs, it cannot be considered a pricing error?
I certainly hope 350+ people got their consoles at this price.

    • Some people have apparently got theirs so a bit premature isn't it?

      • Is it premature to remove the following?

Also available on their main website(thegoodguys.com.au) without the additional 10% off for people who want to price match if required.

        • Since the web page has gone and you can't purchase it what does it matter??

          • @prxy: Fine, let's just have people continue to positive vote this.

            • @netsurfer: If some people end up getting one why not?

              • @prxy: If this deal is so good, why would stating that this is actually a pricing error affects it?
Are you getting yours fulfilled by TGG? You placed a legit order, didn't you?

                • @netsurfer: Who knows I don't know one way or the other yet or if I get store credit or a gift card or nothing.

                  Too early to tell :-)

                  • @prxy: Well, hope you get your XB1X console soon or store credit or gift card.

      • +1

From past examples of pricing error cases, roughly 3% of people who have their orders unfulfilled come back to claim they did in fact receive their order.

        • By what empirical methodology did you arrive at those figures ;-)

          • +2

@prxy: I used the standard FRF methodology for the analysis, recording, and control purposes. It's proven remarkable reliable.

    • Yes..clearly pricing error and should move to Forum accordingly.

  • +1

What a cluster (profanity) this deal has become!

    • Have you had yours cancelled yet?

      • +4

I don't understand why they are waiting so long to send out cancellation emails. Seems like they are just going to enrage people more if they wait

      • +1

Nope, just from the comments I’m reading. I already have an Xbox one x

  • +1

The Good Guys are The Bad Guys.

  • Especially for those that bought GG or Prezzee Gift Cards etc specially for this sale and are now stuck with them.

    • +1

It's always a risk. It's best not to use discounted GCs when it's an insane price with the potential for a price error. I've also learned my lesson the hard way on a similar price error. Hope you get a good outcome!

      • +1

Usually true which is why I mainly buy gift cards I know I'll use like eBay ones.

Also given the option of buying from a retailers site or their eBay store I always choose eBay.

I didn't use gift cards I was speaking for others that said they had.

  • +8

Picked up mine from my local an hour ago.

The last one they had in stock apparently even though website said no stock at all anywhere in my area.

Guy at the counter when signing off the order said “oh, wait…this is a completely different price….” I thought to myself, oh here we go, they’ll say they won’t be able to sell it and tell me they have to refund the order…. but then he was “oh, I was looking at the wrong thing, yep all good, here you go” and slid the box across the counter.

I’m very lucky. God speed to those who are yet to receive any tracking or order confirmation.

    • +3

      Well done. Very lucky indeed.

  • +7

I just signed up for an account so I could comment on this after being an OzBargain browser for a year or so. Appreciate all that everyone contributes!

I purchased an Xbox One X through the Good Guys eBay store at about 11:20pm last night, received an email confirming the order, but since then haven’t received anything to say that it’s been shipped or cancelled. It is still showing in my purchases on eBay, so here’s hoping it ships.

Considering some people have been able to pick theirs up and pay the same price it would seem unfair for TGG not to honour everyone else’s purchases. If they don’t actually have enough stock I’d be more than happy to wait for more stock to arrive and I’m sure many others would feel the same.

    • +4

Exactly, it's really poor of them to leave it this long only to just refuse our orders, when others have gotten it. I shouldn't miss out because i didn't use eBay and instead used their OWN WEBSITE

    • +2

The store pick up is a bit complicated. Essentially, the store fulfils an online store order when instructed to. So, even if the item is sold at a price below cost, it is the online store wearing it. The physical store probably doesn't mind that much because they are in a way happy to clear their stock.

If your order is still there in feeBay, then there is a good chance TGG decided to fulfil it. I certainly hope that's the case.

  • +9

I actually think the most annoying part if they do pull the plug on this whole thing is just how much of everyone’s time they have wasted (I mean those who bought gift cards have actually wasted money too) I personally spent ages refreshing and refreshing. Imagine the cumulative hours spent across Ozb.

Fingers crossed for everyone that they honour it though. I don’t see how they could claim it was an ‘error’ in any way…

    • +4

At this point it is way too far gone for it to be an 'error'. I got gift cards for this and am going to be following up for as long as i need to so i can get my money back because this is ridiculous

  • +2

I swear, with every new email notification i get my heart skips a few beats. This whole thing has me so anxious, either get the xbox i've wanted for forever, or I lose $350 to gift cards. Hope to christ I'm one of the lucky ones but I can see how this is going to end

    • Why would you lose the 350$?

      • Because i bought the gift cards discounted for the deal, but if they cancel it they'll just refund the gift cards but i won't get my money back

        • where did you buy the discounted gift card?

        • OK I see. So still usable gift cards, but that assumes that you want something from The Good Guys at some point in the future.

  • +1

Did anyone else receive 2 order confirmations when ordering through ebay last night?

Still showing in my ebay account so hoping it goes through.

    • Ah crap just received the cancellation notice (with $20 credit).

  • +3

I agree this has gone on far too long to still have no confirmation
Muppets seem to be in control of TGG
I’m concerned looking through the neg feedback on eBay, they have cancelled orders due to pricing error and not informed the consumer on another occasion (Netgear)
I will definitely be contacting ACCC if a cancellation email comes my way

    • +1

Yeah I had a look at that. I had hesitation when grabbing mine as usually I wouldn't buy from any seller with less than 99% positive, but let it slide as I trusted The Good Guys brand being that they are a brick and mortar store.

      • Yeah I have faith too but…..
No communication is making people anxious
We just want answers at this stage

  • +7

Cancellation received, $20 credit. Scum bags. No excuse, time to leave neg feedback.

"we urgently fixed the error" ummmm what?

    • same
