Our SIM cards use the Softbank (Japan) and SK Telecom (South Korea) 4G LTE network and can be bought for 7/14/21/30 days, meaning you don't need to bring 3-4 SIM cards and swap them out.

The SIM cards come in a Triple Cut SIM which will have standard, micro and nano sizes. APN settings are usually not required - however if you run into trouble we've put up guides on our site. SIM cards come with data only (no voice).

      Hi mmmmm,

      If you don't mind spending 1 day in the beginning or end of your trip without internet then pick the 14 day Japan and Korea SIM.

      Otherwise the 21 day option would cover your entire trip.

    Just a heads up for those stopping over in SG that the starhub prepaid mobile data is a really good deal. $32SGD for 2GB/day for 14 days. Works in a bunch of Asian countries including Japan and Korea.

        To add to this, both my wife and I have iPhone's and so we were able to facetime audio throughout our japan trip. Facebook messenger worked well as well.

    Review:
    Purchased 21 day sim for trip Jan / Feb this year.
    Sim was sent registered post, arrived quickly.
    Setup was easy, no manual input required (although I downloaded the manual previously)
    I used with Note 9 dual sim, and this was the second sim.
    Yes you can tether / wifi hot spot.
    Coverage is good throughout the country, uses "soft bank" network. I stayed in rural Ehime. Data rate is good for the 500 MB at about 20 - 50 Mbs, but after this, internet is all but unusable.
    I had frequent timeout's even loading oz bargains and other web pages with images / gifs such as reddit or smh - forget it.

    Google maps will not load, Google translate will only be available in offline mode.
    Expect data rates lower than 64 kbs… Ie less than dial up. *** Not "3G speeds" this part is absolute BS.
    Had several times where it was even less than this, one speed test returned 0.00 down and 0.00 up
    Please take this as a warning, do not expect that internet is usable after the initial 500MB.
    If this is your only internet, ensure data limits and warnings are enabled to ensure you don't get stuck.

        This review scares me. Rep can you chime in and tell me the actual speed after the 500MB data usage?
        Seems like a good way to get stuck in middle of japan without being able to use google maps.

          I have not personally completed a speedtest on the speeds after the 500mb cap has been reached.

          For the best experience we recommend our customers keep a track of their data usage - instructions on how to set it up are included in our SIM guides.

      I had the same experience with this sim in Japan. Most of the time it was unusable. 500mb doesn't go very far at all.
      I won't consider it for my upcoming Japan trip.

      Hi yasui, this SIM card provides a data service only. We recommend our customers use Skype/Facetime/Whatsapp/ViberOut if a voice service is required.

    Hello, few questions would like to ask
    1 Departure on 1st of May, is it ok to use this plan?
    2 is it calculated by calendar day or hour? for example if I arriave 10 pm on Monday, will it consider rest of time on Monday as a day or only 2 hours towards total 168 hours?
    3 Can I activate it when I arrive or have to activate before I travel?
    4 Can I activate sim straight away or I need an additional internet connection?

      1. Yes
      2. it's calculated on per calendar day eg. if you activate at 11pm the data resets at 11pm the next day.
      3. Activate the SIM when you land by plugging it inside your phone
      4. You can activate the SIM as soon as you land.
