OMG. we have 5 claims and each of the claims we random put in a mobile number avoid spam us. They now asking sms code for mobile numbers. What should we do…?

    Wasted total $70 now….What a douchbag company!

    • +6

This is exactly why they sent that email cause they'll filter all the claims using fake details = less claims they'll deem valid

      • +2

Plus more phone numbers which they can sell where they can verify is real. Worth more than just random digits.

    • +10

Lol you the douchebag for trying to exploit. Karma's a b.

    • +1

Contact them via the contact page listed earlier in this deal and tell them you you think you entered a wrong mobile number as you have not received the SMS verification code.

      • thanks! good idea. im still hopeful we can get all claims thru since they all valid person and purchases. but if you think this is how much time we need to dealt with this. surely we wouldn't buy it.

lucky we still have the receipts but have to figure out which receipts on which claim…

any further promo from BJ or a reward sponsor by giftcard planet will never participate again…

They sent me the email stating my claim is valid but delayed. Half an hour later they sent me another email asking for additional information.

  • +4

Received an email earlier today to say my claim is valid.

Now received another email to say they need additional information.

    Contradictory!!!

Now they give us 5 days to resubmit but the resubmit link is not working. Is this doggy or what???

    • +5

it smell like they have full intention to reject as many claims as possible due to the outburst unexpected purchase customers made. doing this will first delay their gifts, then using all they can to approve as less remaining claim as possible.

yes. they should have just do a cap at the first place for no of claimants and this can avoid.

dodgy, probably… after they received too many applicants

  • +3

Just got the email from Ben & Jerry's asking me to upload the receipt again but when i upload the receipt, i get the message 'Please upload the receipt'and refusing to submit the receipt. My receipt is for the online purchase. Anyone else facing this problem?

  • +9

Will give them a day or so to come good on this offer. Why should I have to waste my time to submit my receipt YET AGAIN when the original upload clearly showed the FULL length of the receipt and the product purchased. Not impressed with B&J's and the promoter they have used at all.

  • agree with poster above- get onto their facebook page (both ben and jerry and woolworths).

  • +4

Today, I got the first email saying my claim is valid and there's a delay plus "You should receive your Virtual Visa activation code via email in the next 5 business days".

2 hours later, got another email received 2 times with "We are in the process of validating your Claim but need some additional information." that needs SMS verification.
I did the SMS verification and now it says "We will review your claim to ensure it meets the promotion criteria and you will be notified via email within 10 business days. "

They said my claim was valid yet the next email, I had to validate it through text. And now I need to wait another 10 business days to know if my claim meets the criteria again..? Wow.

    • +3

i got exactly the same in exactly same order

  • +6

Want me to reupload my receipts (2 claims) but who the f still has them ? Not me.

Looks like I bought some overpriced ice cream for nothing.
    Never again. Royal assholes

    • +3

I think most of us kept it just in case they say it's not legible or some bs. Always keep receipts until after you get cash back from the promo.

      • +2

Same here. Always keep receipts or at least photos/scans of receipts.

        • I even keep gift cards until the item is received generally, in case of some dodgy refund shenanigans

  • +2

have they lost all the uploaded images?

what a (profanity) customer relations disaster …

  • +5

Same here - a week later being asked to reupload. That's cost me more time that the savings, so no deal.

I'll give you another week to validate, B&J.

Already eaten it but more mucking around, I'll just get a refund from Woolworths.

  • +2

Luckily I kept my receipt. I've managed to upload it again as per their last email. Hope it goes through this time with no problem. Strangely my wife was not required to send in her receipt again. She just needed to verify her contact details.

  • +1

Luckily I read the T&Cs and kept my receipt. I've also only applied for one (again, in the T&Cs) so hopefully this is only a minor issue.

  • +7

My partner and I (seperate claims) have also both been asked to submit the receipt again and the system is broken.

Sounds like they are hoping people threw out the receipt/can’t be bothered to resubmit it. Not a good look for any of the companies involved.

    • +10

agreed, its not like an uploaded file can just disappear from their servers while our contact details remain intact.

  • +10

Wow what a mess. This is why upvotes should be reserved until after the deal has actually been fulfilled.

    • +2

If I do not vote a deal, I find it hard to find it later. It sinks down fast.

If I vote/comment on a deal, I can find it quickly later.

  • Best way to re-upload the details is to get on a pc, couldn't get it to work on mobile.

    • +1

Doesn't matter what you use,it is the same.

      Use contact email instead

      • Strange mine worked fine on pc, but on mobile phone didn't want to re-submit for some reason.

  • +12

Only explanation for this is that they were inundated with claims and wanted to find a way to save them from paying so they had 2 options either cancel the whole thing (they allowed themselves this in the T&Cs) or ask for verification of SMS and re-upload of receipt to target those who lost the receipt or used fake mobile numbers plus allows them 10 more business days to look into it!! They found the second option to cause less backlash and to not seem "dodgy". But even with that, they made a dodgy website that says "error" when uploading the receipts!!

However, since they are trying to practice their rights fully, they should have also given customers their rights fully by fulfilling the gifts in the 10 business days period not wait 5 days after that THEN start asking for verification. No one forced them to say the claims will be validated in 10 days… if they had said it'll take 20+ business days, maybe we wouldn't have bought 1 per family member and only got 1 or 2 per the whole family.

Moral of the story: if you cant do a promotion campaign properly, don't do it or otherwise you will be causing bad publicity to any future promotions you may ever make.

Note to mods, could you please allow people who revoked their positive votes (including myself) to neg the post so that in the future if they do any promotional campaigns we can look back and see all the negs and avoid.

  • +2

They have rectified the upload issue.

After submitting, this is what the website shows (which is the same message they sent me 3 weeks ago. It looks like I've gone into an endless loop with them):

"We will review your claim to ensure it meets the promotion criteria and you will be notified via email within 10 business days.

If your claim is approved. We will send you detailed instructions on how to claim your Virtual Visa.

If your claim is deemed invalid and you need to resubmit documents, you will be notified via email.

    Please check your junk/spam folders."

  • +3

The claim procedure is clear and simple. So I will be surprised if it will end up "your claim is not valid". But reading their email it sounds like there will be a very rigorous process to determine whether a claim is valid.

I think Ben & Jerry underestimated the response for their promo.

    • They underestimated the power of OzBargain

  • +2

    Absolute joke.
uploaded receipt in the first place
Now there asking for more info

  • +6

Got the same as the rest who complained here. Will neg Ben and Jerry's (not the poster). Will not buy this brand again!

  • Upload working just uploaded my receipt on two claims.

  • +1

Got told to re-verify, did so, fingers crossed..

Honestly it hasn't been worth the effort for five bucks.

Netflix better add something good.. Already will be stocking up for a few months using this deal…

  • +6

Next they will request image of receipt while holding passport and empty ice cream tub what a joke.

    • Genuine question, is it a possibility they will ask for passport/ID?

Seems like there's no way for them to avoid people double-dipping otherwise..

      • I highly doubt it as it's not in the T&C's (however asking for receipt again is IN T&C's)

      • They may not be so bold to ask ID. but next verify stage may something like,

Please show you have ate the pint you have purchase. A picture of yourself enjoying the B&J Pint would be valid.

        • +5

Would submitting my poop for analysis be valid?

    • +1

Next they will request image of receipt while holding passport and empty ice cream tub what a joke.

yes, they need pictures to post on the promotional page for the launch of their new "Weasel" flavour :)

      • +1

haha! in all seriousness i reckon i will never buy b&j again..

  • Very frustrating and very disappointing.
They asked for the information again.
I've used their link by desktop (it would NOT work from a phone) and also resubmitted via their contact us page.
    Hopefully I get it approved

  • +4

Absolute waste of time. So much hassle just to redeem this offer.

  • +4

SMS clarification is not working for me lol. And my number is legit.

    • +1

      Yeap, same issue here

    • Same here

  • +8

Great, now the SMS verification is not working anymore.
Is it the same for anyone else?

    • Mine worked just 30 min ago, but others reporting issues now

    • Do you mean you’re not getting the sms or uploading the receipt doesn’t work?

      • +2

I'm not getting the SMS. I hit the "Send code" button but I never receive anything. I'm really miffed about this whole thing. There was nothing wrong with the photo of my original receipt I sent.

  • +1

Please make sure you all keep your receipts in case there is a third round of verifications

    • +1

As with any cashback I reckon holding onto the receipts until the cash is in my account is the best course of action

      • Agree. I scan and then save on my computer.

        • Didn't scan, just took photo and saved. Might scan later though, good idea

  • +7

Tried to get the SMS code, but no message received. Anybody else experiencing the same issue?

    • Yes, looks like it :/

    • +1

first it was "receipt not uploaded" error, seems they've fixed that. now the new issue is no sms…

  • +5

what a disaster. never buying b&j's again

    • +5

does anyone ever buy this overpriced icecream in the first place anyways? every time I walk past the aisle, it's always full of b&j icecream pints even when it's on special

  • +2

Submitted 3 offers on behalf of my family. Now i can't remember which receipt was for which submission. Might have to wing it and hopefully the receipt is for the right one.

Any ideas what i should do?

    • +2

contact them via contact us ask them to send you the receipt you sent and indicate what is that not clear on the receipt that you need to validate again. You then see which is which…

we have the similar issue. thats what I've tried. let us know the outcome

      • I was honest and contacted them and said can't remember which claim of which fam member for which receipt,.. still awaiting a reply

  • +2

'The SMS code has been sent to the nomimated phone number.'

    well it is clearly not

  • +2

SMS code not working here either. Also, the "additional information" requested is the same as what I have already submitted. What a waste of time.

  • +1

Same issue as everyone else. SMS not working, upload receipt not working. Looks like the simplest solution is to take the half eaten ice cream tub back to woolies and asking for a full refund. If ice cream has already been eaten, then I guess you can try to do a refund at woolies using a soft copy of your receipt - Refund reason: Scammed by B&J's BS promo.

  • I'm not uploading mine again. Waiting to see how they respond to all the complaints first, not going to play their games.

  • +1

Firstly, failed to respond within the 10 business days as stated on the promo. Around 14 days after submission, they said they were facing some issues to process the claim submission and to wait for another 5 days while confirming that my claim is valid.

After 3 days, received email to apologise for further delay while confirming again that my claim is valid and to look out for the $14 digital visa within 5 business days.

On the same day, received another email to ask to verify additional information and re-submit the receipt. Link provided can't upload receipt and then the SMS verification is broken. What would they think of next?
WOW…wonder how does such company allow to exist?

  • +4

I think the requests to reupload the receipts are an OBVIOUS attempt to thin down the number of pay outs as many people will no longer have their receipts after receiving confirmation emails.
    They know this.

    • +1

Now they are even disabling the receipt upload with a broken link and SMS verification.

    • +5

I'm surprised if people don't even keep the photo/scan of the receipt. Just upload the same photo/scan. They aren't really having trouble reading the text in the photo. it's all just an excuse to stall time, cull down the amount of people getting the payout.

  • +1

'Get SMS Code' function not working after following link in Ben & Jerry's provide additional information email (email from [email protected], guess that's legit/ok). Seems like everyone's having same problem. Noticed in the 'Your Details' on the get SMS code page my mobile phone number isn't actually listed, were we asked to provide a mobile number when registering I can't remember? Maybe they don't even have our mobile?? Can someone confirm we did actually provide a mobile number when signing up for deal. Anyway honestly just seems like a way they can pull out of deal and not honour it, whatever.

    • +2

They 100% have the mobile number stored as when you press on send SMS code it gets sent to the number linked to claim (that was the case this morning before it stopped working)

      • +4

Thanks heaps for replying. Ok so I ended up contacting them about the issue on the Ben & Jerry's promo page here - https://www.benandjerrypromo.com.au/contact Filled out my details including claim id and selected 'Resubmit Documentation' drop down box and submitted my Woolworths receipt again too. Hope to hear something back. Will let you guys know if get any news. Maybe others could contact them on their contact page too, so they know there's a definite problem. Also maybe filling out the resubmit documentation in this link will satisfy them? Not sure. Hope it gets fixed

        • +1

I took your advice and did just that, this morning. About 3 and a half hours later I got a response from their Customer Support Team:

          Hi,

Thank you for resubmitting your documentation.

We will be in touch if we require any further information or once your claim has been validated.

          Kind Regards,

Their Customer Support team is through Edge Loyalty. Not sure how many more reports they have had, but both my responses from them were exactly the same.

Will report back if I get any other information.

          • @tcoates: That's more than I got. I was just told a support rep would contact me in 2 business days. Will be interested how this whole thing turns out.

          • @tcoates: Whoa, I did that yesterday still haven't got a reply other than acknowledging my enquiry and that a rep will reply within two days.

            • @Omitsukasa: If anyone is interested, I submitted the following for my request:

              Hi,

I received an email saying I need to resubmit and confirm my details, however the SMS verification code button is not working. I have also noticed many others experiencing the same issue. As we only have 5 days to confirm these details I am forwarding them through here (re-uploaded receipt in attachments). My claim is <insert claim number here>.

I hope to hear from you soon.

              Kind Regards,
              tcoates

It got a response from them. So may be worth while doing the same just in case the SMS verification doesn't work. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ YMMV.

              EDIT: Formatting.

        • Awesome SMS function in B&J's email link seems to be working now. Submitted everything again, fingers crossed this all works this time. Free month of Netflix here we come (hopefully) :)

        • Just as an update - got a unique code emailed from Ben & Jerry's, entered code on Virtual Visa/Gift Card Planet website, then a page comes up with an image of a visa card with a visa number on it and I was emailed a 3 digit code and an expiry to use with the visa card. Worked perfectly when used it, money spent and one happy customer… minus a few hiccups along the way. Thanks Ben & Jerry's :D

    • +3

Most likely they bulk purchased, say, 100000 SMSes from their SMS provider, and that's run out. They should have kept an eye on that, but yeah, the promo company is probably overwhelmed by the power of Ozbargain at the moment…

  • +2

Major stuff up, bad enough that they haven't fulfilled any giftcards yet, then so opportunistic, send email to almost everyone asking to reconfirm within 5 days, AFTER their 10 business day promise has well and truly passed.

I should have the giftcard by now, not presented with a screen asking for claim ID, waiting for non-existent SMS on a website that may have a technical error preventing it from accepting uploads. I think Australian Consumer Law needs to be strengthened against this type of advertising, promise of items by redemption where the provider is doing everything they can to not fulfill. There just doesn't seem to be any consequence with this type of bad behaviour.

The irony is, I wonder if the person who came up with this offer is up for a bonus now with increased sales, while trying to downplay issues and delaying the blowing out of the marketing budget.

I have no problem that they may like to selectively validate and ensure the validity of suspicious claims. However in this situation it just seems like little thought and regard for the customer. Blowing up the brand for a small personal gain by an individual decision maker?

I think the situation is newsworthy, hope a mainstream media pick it up.

    • The smart thing to do would be to put a limit on the amount of redemptions. It seemed like there really was no limit to their stupidity.

  • As above sms verification still not working… sigh

  • good to hear im not the only one. waiting for the sms feature to work.

  • +1

Had a fake number for my original submission, so couldn't get sms verification for when they emailed me to reupload. Decided to use the same receipt and make a new claim with a different name and email. Upload process has changed too, cos they now ask for the receipt number.

    • +1

I used a fake phone number and a fake email address to avoid SPAM.
So far I have not got anything.

      • +9

Must be really smart to use fake email so that you never receive the VISA card… well done !

        • he uploaded a fake receipt as well :)

          • @c64: They'll send him a fake visa too
