    • I have the option of upgrading on my account. Will this extend my contract or will the contract start from today? I have 11 months on my plan left. $59 plan with free Google Pixel 2 XL… am I eligible?

      • What is the name of your current plan (should be on your bill or 24x7 app)? If you move from any plan to another 12 or 24-month plan, your service contract will be waived. However, if you have device costs you may still be liable for those charges.

Best to check in 24x7 app:
Select your service - navigate to my plan.
Cost to alter contract will tell you IF you will be charged for changing plan.

        • So my contract end date with my current plan stays the same which is 11/04/2020? Plan is called "Go Mobile Plus BYO plan - $59"

          • @R3XNebular: Typically moving from a BYO plan to another BYO plan you wouldn't incur any costs. That being said if the Pixel has any payout fee you would still be eligible

            • @JaxDefected: Was a free phone. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/363865

              This deal specifically

            • @JaxDefected: Just submitted my upgrade, no mention of any cost of the Pixel 2 XL or anything. How long does it take before a plan change comes into effect.

              • +1

@R3XNebular: all things being equal, it should be provisioned within 24 hours

              • @R3XNebular: Did you read this part before Submitting?

We'll send you an email in the next few days with your Plan Estimate. It will show what you can expect to pay for your new plan when you get your first bill, including any one-off charges as well as your ongoing monthly charges.

                • @TomGum: Are you suggesting we will get charged?

                  • @R3XNebular: Well, if there is a device associated with your old plan, then you will be charged. You can check the figure through your Telstra App and click on MY PLAN and refer to device buy out figure.

            • +1

              @JaxDefected: Hi JaxDefected

              Sorry, so to confirm that

That being said if the Pixel has any payout fee you would still be eligible

means eligible with no costs incurred.

When I go to upgrade via the Telstra website at the checkout it says $0 one-off cost and min spend is $588. Does that confirm that their will be no handset payout fee and the new plan will be $49 with the handset repayment incorporated in that $49?

              Cheers.

              • @Olokun: https://www.telstra.com.au/support/category/mobiles-tablets/…

                Increasing your plan inclusions

If you change to a higher plan in the same plan family, for example, from a $95 Go Mobile plan to a $135 Go Mobile plan, there are no additional costs.

                Decreasing your plan inclusions

If you change to lower value plan than what you started on, for example, you signed a contract for a $70 Go Mobile plan and you want to downgrade to a $55 Go Mobile plan; you may have to pay a plan Early Termination Charge as well as any remaining device or accessory repayments.

So technically we are upgrading a $59 plan to a $69 plan.

              • @Olokun: Confirmed with online chat with what we suspected. The old Pixel 2 XL plan was a $59 plan and this new one is $69. No fees as it is also in the same Telstra Plan family. Saved that chat log just incase a phantom charge tries to bite me in the ass

                • @R3XNebular: Sweet. Thanks for confirming. I tried to do the same but my chat window bugged out and wouldn’t let me hit send after typing a reply… suffice to say the chat was the operated just saying… hello anyone there…

                • @R3XNebular: i'm in the same boat, however online chat told me I'd have to pay out the remaining $300 device costs (7 months left) as its not the same plan family. The Pixel 2L was a Friends & Family Plan + device. Even tho it shows up in my account as a byo plan "Go Mobile Plus BYO Plan - $59".

                  Might try again tomorrow…

                  • @k007: Any luck mate. I reckon just go through website like myself… Deal ends tomorrow…

                • @R3XNebular: Could you possibly send a copy of the transcript it reference number? I've had a similar issue

      • Refer to my earlier comment. I am receiving an error message when submitting my order.

I have two mobiles out of contract and I have two data share sims used in iPads at the moment. If I switch my plans across to this obviously the data share dies. Is $19 plan per month the minimum for a tablet plan? Is there any smaller unadvertised plans?

      • +2

Hi Anthony, currently the $19 plan is the cheapest generally available tablet plan we have. However, given you have Data Share SIMS you would be eligible for a $5 Mobile Broadband Plan which will give you 2GB of non-shareable data.

This is a system enforced plan and only specific plans are actually eligible, might be best to chat to live chat.

        Only available:
If you have one parent mobile service sharing data with one or more eligible Data Share SIMs, and want to upgrade it to an in-market (non-shared) plan.
To replace eligible Data Share SIM plans that are incompatible with our (non-shareable) in-market plans

        *edit - eligibility

        • Thanks so much. I assume the 2gb is not POM

      • +2

$14 pm for 20 GB on 24 month contract seems to still be a goer.
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/453192

        • Wow nice find - $5 p/m cheaper and a free tablet thrown in. Only downside is 24 month term…

    • +1

Can you please find a way for everyone to enjoy their existing $10 port in credit in this package as well? (Making it $39 per month) Appearantly some have been successful but some haven't.

      • Hi npnp, the $10 Port-in offer isn't eligible with our Click Frenzy offer, however I have seen comments of some customers getting it.

        • +5

Yep, I tried but wasn't successful. If some have managed to get it then I don't see why everyone shouldn't be allowed to the discount. Do you think you can do something about that? Thanks in advance.

    • I'm with Kogan now and interested in switching to this deal. But I would like to find out if Telstra will apply the $10/month port in credit with this deal, making it $39/month? If so, how to proceed? Thanks

    • Hi Jax, I'm currently on a $59 BYO plan (got it as part of a family and friends deal in 2017 and it came with a Pixel 2). I can see on the 24/7 app that there is a device payout of about $300, would I be required to pay this if I was switching to this plan?

    • Hey mate

      Optus prepaid customer here.

So if I sign up online for this deal, do I qualify for the $10 port in credit that everyone here is talking about? Do I just ask for this in 24/7 chat?

      Cheers.

    • Hello Jaxdefected

I have a Valued Customer Bonus on my plan. If I switch to this will I lose this bonus? I have received it with every other plan but not sure if this will be exempt with the click frenzy deal?

      Thanks.

    • I've been trying last night and this morning using the web sign up flow, but every single time at the end i get a full-page error saying "We are unable to proceed with your request at this time. Please try again later or chat to our team.". Pretty frustrating. This is on my home as well as work computer, with all ad blockers disabled.

      • I finally managed, by using the "port number" flow. YMMV but it flat out didn't work for me with the "new number" flow.

  • Thanks, my current $49 / 20gb deal expires in 30 days. Online chat upgraded to new deal and recontracted easily.

    • Hi A.B

  • Bit off topic but we're pretty happy with our internet plan @ the mo, & we do prepaid monthly top ups on our mobiles, but r they're better options? Like with this offer, does one need to get land line installed? Thx in advance.

    • Hi Jay, a lot of variables as to what may be the best solution for you and your family. This offer is Mobile SIM-only, therefore it will use 3G/4G to provide your internet and calling needs which means no landline is required.

  • Good deal, but chat tells me that I’ll lose the shared data SIM I pay $5p/m for on my current plan to use in my iPad if I switch to this.

Had no idea Telstra had axed those… so how to use all this data!

    • +1

      Hi Ricochet,
As you have a $5 Data share sim I would suggest talking to the Live Chat team about our $5 Mobile Broadband Plan - offers 2 GB of data, however, it is not shareable.

    • Thanks, that is better than losing it entirely but does mean doing a lot more tethering to make the most of the 60GB!

      • I struggle to get through 25GB so I know what you mean! all the best

        • Is this $5 sim available to anyone?

I currently have 2 postpaid mobile sims.

    • I ended up going for the $14/mth SIM with 20GB and a free basic tablet via this comment: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/7294117/redir

  • I've been told on live chat I need to pay out the device repayment to "upgrade" to this plan.

    • if you got a BYO plan + phone i'm in the same boat!
12 months in, telstra app tells me out of contract and to change plan.
Anything to do with upgrading/downgrading the plan means the phone has to be paid out.

I know the phone is 24 months, but at least make it all 24 months.

      • +1

Which plan are you guys on? Were you on the Pixel 2 XL Free phone on the $59 plan?
I just upgraded and no cost associated were mention during the upgrade.
        https://i.imgur.com/LbVaXFG.png
This is the confirmation email received.

        • Did you confirm anything with live chat that no associated costs are involved? ie device buy out?

          The Telstra Bill states

Your Device Payment or Leasing Contract is for $1,416.00 (incl. $128.73 GST), or $59.00 per month over 24
months. If you stay connected to your plan you will receive a Device Plan Discount of $59.00 per month (incl.
$5.36 GST), making your payment $0.00 per month.

so I guess that means it should be ok to upgrade.

          • @Olokun: The estimated cost for changing to a new eligible contract: $631.87
The estimated cost for changing to a casual plan: $947.81
If you have an Accessory Repayment Option or received a joining bonus when you signed up the amount may vary. If you have either of these we can assist you 24x7, please chat online.

Jesus why wasnt this mentioned during the plan upgrade?

            • @R3XNebular: Reading further it may seem that upgrading to higher plan should not incur additional costs, only a lower plan. Seeing as this is an upgrade from the byo $59 to byo $69 plan no additional costs should be incurred.

I have taken the punt and submitted an order too.

              • @Olokun: I agree think you are correct. It is a $59 plan being technically upgraded to a $69 plan so shouldnt incur any costs…

                • @R3XNebular: Hi, I'm in the same boat as you with the Pixel 2XL. I'm bit afraid to do the upgrade online. Can you please PM me your chat screenshot or something so that I can try to upgrade via livechat?
                  Thanks

                  • @InternetExplorer: I'm on the same $59 plan. Online chat tells me I have to pay out the remaining 7 months ($300) device costs if I want to "upgrade"…

                    • +1

@k007: I have told that a friend got to upgrade without a cost and I was asked for the friends mobile number lol

                • @R3XNebular: Plan has just updated and is now showing the exit cost as $414 with no mention of the handset repayment amount.

The end of contract date has also updated to 22/05/2020 which according to Telstra is 13 months from now.

                  • @Olokun: Also the same mine ends 21/05/2020. 13 months. Plan early termination charge $414.00. Device buy out $0.00.

Chat rep said she saw no charges last night. Looks like I'm in the clear. My plan was meant to end April next year but that's ok

                    • @R3XNebular: I'm on the same plan $0 device repayments, tried to upgrade initially through online chat but was denied that unless paying out the phone ($900 for me) and was only offered new phone feeling or data packs, so submitted the 'upgrade existing service' option on the 24x7 app and will see what happens - thanks for the advice to try though the online!

  • Mines stuck on submitting order

  • would jump on the deal, but it's strange to me how prepaid has 20 international destinations and plans are only 15

  • is this worth it getting this plan with a iphone XR (outright $), vs a 24mth contract ? Seems like a better deal to take 12 mth and own outright to me !

    • Not aware of the total cost of an iPhone XR outright, currently all Telstra Mobile Plans (Buy & Lease) have an additional $10 credit until May 23 plus family and friends deal $85 for 30gb on lease - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/456997

  • And now my Livechat failed mid way in a account upgrade. What to do?

    • just seen both your comments, apologies if the issue is on our end. we have another online shop entry point here -https://www.telstra.com.au/deals/click-frenzy

let me know if it works for you via the above link

      • +1

So I’ve gone though the process again.

New agent is applying a $20 credit to the $69 account to give me $49 & 60GB - is that correct process?

  • Awesome new deal!
I've made 2 Telstra plan changes this month (From JB Hi-fi $69/month to Telstra'a $59/month and now $49/month) and my only concern is each time I do the plan change I'm advised they do a credit check so my credit score is likely to take a hit this month as a result of all these plan changes!

  • Am I going crazy? Deal is for Medium Mobile deal which according to the terms below, medium plans don’t include the international calls. Why do people think this plan includes international calls?

    https://www.telstra.com.au/content/dam/tcom/personal/mobile-…

    • You may be going crazy. I don't think asking here is the best place if you are. :p

The M plan is only 15GB (currently has no discounts or extra data.) and is $49 a month. This one is for the L plan which is $69 a month reduced to $49. L has more data and stuff like international calls + piece of mind data included. :)

      • Hehe, it deffinitely says Medium Mobile when you go through to order it. Maybe that’s just an error. Oh well, I ordered, if they advertising it as Flying Ace points out then surely they can’t back out of it

        • +1

I see I think it's because they forgot to update the CIS. Maybe it is the new medium plan but both the landing page for click frenzy and the sim only plan pages shows 'This plan includes Unlimited international talk & text to 15 selected countries.' Take a screen shot and save it if you are worried. :)

  • +1

Cheers. Got it for $39pm. They retained my $10 bonus credit.

    • +1

Do you have proof of that, please? I'm being told that's not actually happening.

      • Same here. On $49 already but they are denying to carry on port in credit :(

      • I've got it in writing on the transcript. I'll have to double check my account now and see.

    • Did it reflect on your order estimate?

      • +1

Are you able to let us know the agent's name and share part of the transcript please?

        • yes dying to get proof!!! <3

          • -1

@superjuju: Sorry don't want to get the person in trouble or for them to revoke my deal.

Yes, the base plan comes down to $49 per month, but we retained your $10 bonus making it $39. :)

    • What is a port in credit? Just by porting in from another provider?

I’m on Optus prepaid. Can I ask for this on 24/7 chat after I sign up to the plan online?

    • need this with writing - guy at live chat kept asking me to ask for contact numbers that had gotten 39 per month!

      • +1

Tell him that is sensitive customer info? Lol

        • HAHA i was like no, thats crazy. ITS OZ BARGAIN DUDE. we talk about everything there!!

          • @superjuju: Anyway I was thinking of jumping on the deal. Was offered $39 for half the data usage which I thought was on par with previous deals, could do better for click frenzy!

  • +3

Optus has $40 for 80gigs on a 12 month contract if anyone wants to go there.

  • Saved $20/month on two of our phones, happy days!

  • This is awesome .
    Thank you so much @Dud

  • +1

It looks like I'd be better off with the JB plan because I get a $200 gift voucher (port in) and $4/mth cheaper? (assuming I don't need the extra 10gb data and int call allowance that is) ?

    • I thought that had expired long ago?

      • Still alive and kicking. $200 card on $45 plan and $300 card on $65 plan

        • Link?

          • @TomGum: Only in store. Although that is in my local store, I noticed in a different JB over the weekend there was no mention of it. Only a discount of phone purchase price which is advertised on the website.

  • Apple Music was removed during my upgrade and now it says I can’t add it in 24x7 App

    Anyone else?

    • I didn’t upgrade but I’m having similar issues with Apple Music through Telstra. It just suddenly stopped working the other day and they can’t add it back on my account. It must be a system issue. I’m still waiting for it to be resolved.

      • Yep, just ended up resubscribing directly.

  • I'm already on Boost $40. any benefits to move?

  • If I sign up to this online do I get a sim posted to me or pick one up from a telstra shop? How does it work? I am porting from Vodafone.

    • sent in mail.

  • -2

    Never again Telstra.
    Horrible reception in Melbourne
    Atleast where I live

  • Thanks champ! signed up.

  • Solid deal, just coming out of contract too. Got to LURRRV ozbargain.
