            • @neilpatrickharris: Yes. Signed up for the plan during my lunch break and hopped on Telstra 24x7 chat shortly after my number was ported over (about 30 minutes)

              • @MokuMoku: outrageous! i'll give it another try. Also, do you know what's the difference between this plan and the Telstra $60 per month plan? Would they allow me to switch across to that?

                • @neilpatrickharris: The $60 one is month to month, no lock in. It also slows the data to 1.5mbps after you use all 60gb, instead of charging you more like the JB plan.
I changed from that to this.

                  • @theguyrules: to clarify, you were on the $60 plan or the jb plan? why would you want to pay more if you were on the $60 plan? sounds like they're offering the same thing. Also - i spoke with someone else and got the $10 credit applied!

    • What is the reduced plan size that you're referring to?

      • After porting your number to Telstra $65/month plan and receiving your $500 gift card, you can speak to someone over Telstra live chat system and ask to receive a $10 monthly discount off your $65 plan for porting your service over from a different provider.

I’m not sure on the success rate but it worked for me so now I’m on a $55/month plan for 12 months plus receiving that $500 gift card.

Taking the gift card into account, it ends up being $13.33/month which is pretty sweet if you ask me.

        • Did you port out and port in?

          • @teeshiu: Nope. I ported from Optus who I’ve been with for years

        • Oh, I thought there was another cheaper plan which would give good data that the port in credit would also apply to.

        • +1

Im not sure where did you get $13.33 per month? $500 GC is not the same with $500 cash.

GC = you HAVE to spend it
          Cash = its cash ! ;)

You cant pay Telstra bill with $500 GC. Unless you sell GC for 10-20% less of its amount for cash.

        • Hold on… You are paying $55 per months. But still 60Gb of data. Correct?

  • +1

Been about 4 hours now and still waiting for the port from catch (optus)

    • Check that your DOB was registered correctly with Catch.

      • Damn well hope so because they ported me out of telstra originally haha

  • +1

Just ported from virgin to this deal at Robina. Staff were super efficient. Done in 5 minutes.

  • Can you add international calls to this plan?

    • +1

Yes, $10 International pack to 20 selected countries

      • The JB HI-FI rep told me we can't do that. The $10 international pack is for Telstra plans whereas this one is JB HI-Fi. Has anyone tried already?

  • Ported out from kogan despite my plan being due to expire in December. Porting took about an hour. Called up kogan and told them to refund the remaining balance since I was sick of my calls dropping off and always having no reception (especially the case between marickville and redfern on the train), to which they said ok. So glad I can finally make calls and use the internet at the same time now.

  • Must you port in? Do new customers get the 500?

    • The sign says new numbers, so I'd assume so.

      • Confirmed that it has to be a port in… not sure if it was just that worker.

  • +1

Tried to port my number that I moved out of Telstra last week with no luck. Still waiting on my other one from Woolworths Mobile. Which sucks cause I drove 2 hours to my closest JB and they can't release gift card. Sigh.

  • Can I buy this for my ipad?

    • No

      • No reason you couldn't use the sim in an Ipad.

  • Ported fortnight ago and it showed up on their system, got the same line about 30 day wait. Bummer. Will just wait for another promo

  • Does anyone know if we can use two $500 gift cards to purchase an item in a single transaction? Planning to get two plans ( for me and my partner) and then use both gift cards to buy a TV

    • +1

      Yes you can

    • +1

      Yes

    • +1

Limitation of upto 5 gift cards to buy online. Instore no limitation.

      • +1

In store 8 gift cards limitation.

I've been told that this offer with $500 GC is only valid for today and tomorrow. After tomorrow it will be back down to $400. Next week it will be down to $300.

  • Tried to get this deal today at JB world square. Was rejected due to the 30 days however I've had it confirmed on chat that I last ported out on the 9/8/19. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow and show the chat transcript.

  • This hurts, literally signed up Saturday for the $400 voucher, wonder if any negotiation can be done to make up the difference?

    • Try and let us know.

      • Telstra chat said they can't do anything and the deal is with JB. Will call then tomorrow but not holding my breath!

  • Anyone port from optus take ages? Hope it goes through by the morning

    • yeah wasnt done after 6 hours so on telstra 24/7 chat now to confirm

      • Let me know how it goes! I'm porting from catch (optus reseller)

        • +1

          got the old

"upon chekcing, I see your order is in process.

It is normal that completion may take a few days"

          • @jabroni: Lame. Annoying thing is our start date is today. Ah well.

    • At what time did you place the request?

      • 12:43PM

  • Via Telstra live chat last night I was able to get the $10 Monthly Credit until recontract.

    Ported from Optus to Telstra

    • Heye - was this after you had already signed up?

      • After

    • Just chatted to Telsta live cat and the agent wouldn't apply this to my account. Thanks for sharing anyways.

      • Don't give up!!!. The first time it didn't work for me, but the second time it worked. I think it all depends on the agent you get.

        • +1

The rep said they couldn’t do it as the offer had finished. I’ll try another agent tho.

    • I've talked with the 24x7 rep and they are only willing to put through an order if they have a reference number of a successful chat.
Anyone who has been successful willing to message me their reference number?

      • Just keep trying different reps.

  • Can anyone confirm if this is still active today at most stores? Didn’t have a chance to duck in yesterday!

    • +2

Lets hope you don’t chicken out today. 😜

      • +3

Easy there. Dont go ruffling feathers now.

      • Haaaa. Good 🤣

      • +2

I’m not sure I can handle the monthly bill!

  • Does anyone else's paperwork say 40 gig?

    • Yeah, its 40gb plus a bonus 20gb.

      • +1

        Thanks cat!

  • Any one got through their porting from optus without any delays? Mine is stuck in system since friday.

    • +1

Mine is over 12 hours, and still not ported from virgin/optus.

      • +1

mine was done within the hour

      • +1

Sorry to hear that. Mine from Virgin (done yesterday) took about 20 minutes.

    • 1 hr it took to port from Optus to Telstra

    • Mine stuck for over a week…

    • Got on this yesterday from Optus and the port was almost instsnt.

  • I know it's probably too early but has anyone tried getting it from a JB in Brisbane CBD today?

    • Hit up MacArthur Central, they were super helpful. The one on Albert St in the mall also confirmed the deal

  • Currently a Telstra customer but on a month by month payment since my plan is finished. Is it possible to sign up as a new customer, terminate the old plan and transfer/change my old mobile to the new plan as a method to get this deal?

    • May not work, the mobile number is tied to the plan you sign up for! I don't think it is possible to transfer plans from one number to another.

  • Does anyone know how much a $500 JB gift card is worth? I don't usually trade/buy gift cards and am clueless what sort of return you could get from it.

    • +1

      $450 or $460

      • So 65*12 = $780 - 450 = $330 / 12 = $27.5/month for 60GB on the Telstra network is definitely a pretty sweet deal

  • Telstra only offering $10 port in discount to me for 6 months.
Just a matter starting a new chat and trying again?

    • did you do that before or after you did the JBhifi deal in store?

      • After JB deal in store I contacted live chat at night and I was able to get the $10 Monthly Credit until I recontract

        • Why do they give you $10 off when you just signed a contract? I thought they wouldn't care

      • This was beforehand, heading in store now, was hoping Telstra could confirm the discount before I committed

    • My first attempt during work I was unsuccessful, but the second time which was last night I was able to get the $10 Monthly Credit until I recontract

  • is it possible to start the process today, but just port the number to telstra in 4 weeks?
because I put $40 in my vodafone last week and this recharge is for 5 weeks, I wouldnt like to lost this money/recharge
    thanks!

  • Still working just waiting on the port from Vodafone to Telstra

  • Just tried again at a different Sydney CBD store. I was almost over the line this time but telstra pulled me up on the 30 days again even though its gone past. Apparently it takes an extra few days for a port out to process and finish on their end so I have to wait till the 15th and come back but can of course only get the $400 card. What a joke , even showed them my live chat from last night. over it. The JB staff member was good though , did his best.

  • Chatted (Live chat) to a new Telstra agent re: $10 monthly discount, and was successful. I had to mention that the staff at JB Hi Fi said we could get this discount with this plan. So my plan is $55 a month for 12 months instead of $65.

  • 2 attempts online to get the $10pm port in credit no luck yet

1st agent - your on jbhifi plan no further discount can be applied - I supplied the agent with my account number on this occasion

2nd agent - port in credit is only able to be applied at the point of sale - did not provide agent with my account number.

Both instances I did not mention I signed up at jbhifi, and both instances I mentioned a friend got $10 pm credit signed up like myself at the store and then came online to request Credit.

    • Tell the agent that the staff at JB said this discount was available. I feel the Telstra agents have no choice but to apply it in this case.

      • Thanks I’ll give that a go.

      • yes, exactly what I did and they contacted their supervisor and gave me the promised $10 port in credit per month

    • I had to try 3 agents, the last one literally asked me to confirm my identity, enter verification code, etc. And then straight applied it to my account no questions asked. So it really depends on the agent.

      • Yep, first agent - just said they told me at JB to contact for you to apply, no hesitation, added in straight away

        • This worked like a charm for me as well

  • +3

I'm at MacArthur central Brisbane JB hi-fi. Ask for Tim, he price matched the Google pixel half price deal that is on ozbargain and I got the $500 gift card.

Tim said he successfully did a port out / port in also.

    • JB Hifi narre warren refused to do that, so you probably just lucky…good on you mate

  • +1

Question: Will "porting" two different burner sims in my name to Telstra at two different stores yield 2x $500 GC's. Im getting greedy. Need to pay some debts.

    • You can do it at 1 store.

Not sure how this scheme is going to help you get out of debt. Please share.

      • -1

        Ok thanks
        Gonna attempt it now
25days since last Telstra/goodguys promo. Fingers crossed
oh I just mean I have a credit card debt of like $8-900 I’d pay off by selling the gc’s

        • +1

Eh? You're going to sell 1k of gift cards for $800-900 cash to pay of a credit card debt … then incur another $1560 debt over the next 12 months?
