I'll be the first to ask, Can you trade in the OG Xbox and pay a little more?

    • +1

Sometimes they allow trading an older console and you paying more for the deal.

      Example: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/488041#comment-7811929 and https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/441366#comment-7007165

    • also interested.. havent touched my OG xbone in years.

    • Last time they had a deal similar to this I was able to trade my OG Xbox One and pay $350. I'd imagine they will do that again.

      • What was the normal price?

        • Fairly sure it was $250 with the S. They just added an extra $100 to make up the difference in trade value

    • +6

Just traded in my OG Xbox

      XBOX ONE 500GB + 2 Games + $319 = XBOX ONE X Bundle
      XBOX ONE 1TB + 2 Games + $309 = XBOX ONE X Bundle

      • Any 2 games?

        • +1

Yep, I traded destiny and overwatch (my existing copy)

  • -7

with these deals you can always trade sny game si get rud if the $2 ones. usually stack with eb level bonus so this is a very nice deal.

dint firget the fortnite trade credit deal is also running if u need to clear out better value games fir xbl double credit

    • +24

I think there was some useful information in there.. somewhere.

    • +1

I had a stroke just reading that.

  • Looks like an Xbox One S can be had around $150 used on ebay if you're lucky.
Dunno about the games to trade in
The 3 it comes with, /probably/ get $15 each for them?

So not bad, maybe under $400 for an Xbox One X

    • -6

Technically you are spending $400 plus $150 plus the games….so it’s not under $400 for Xbox one X

  • +1

For those with a decent PC, Outer Worlds is going to be part of the Xbox game pass for PC. $1 for first month. I'd say I'd be well and truly be done after 30 days.

    • -6

Not for PC, epic has exclusive rights to PC for 12 months. It's only on gamepass for console.

    • You are a legend. I was just going to buy this game.

  • +1

yeah last time they did these deals I could use FIFA 14 as one of the games

  • can you keep your xbox one s controller. Or does it also have to be handed in with the 2 games and console? cheers,

    • +1

You'll have to pay a small fee if youre missing controller

      • +1

this is why you keep bust ones…

  • +2

got my Xbox one s Minecraft for $199. do you think it's worth to upgrade to Xbox one X? I just got a new 4K tv as well too recently.

    • For sure

    • +1

If it's your sole gaming machine atm, then yeah I'd say it's absolutely worth it to take advantage of your new TV.

    • Unless you're thinking of buying next gen Scarlett at launch in a year, probably worth it to take advantage of 4k gaming

  • correct me if I'm wrong but $499 still seems like a decent deal for XBOX One X + 3 games (with one just releasing tomorrow)

    • +1

JB has the same deal for $479 minus Overwatch

      • And you are better off not getting Overwatch as you can get some other better games.

        • +1

Or better off getting Overwatch as it’s still a terrific game! Look out for differing views ;)

          Nawwww down vote :(

          • @MBix: overwatch is now a hit or miss you either you like it or hate it. me personally, I dislike it as it has gotten very repetitive for me.

  • +1

There should be some excellent black Friday deals this year as we reach the end of the generation got anyone on the fence

  • How much would the deal be if I traded my Xbox one X?

    • +1

Better off just buying the 3 games. Or do you want a new xbox one x?

    • +8

Trading in an Xbox One X to get an Xbox One X? That's some inception stuff right there.

      • Ready for anything to get the deal ;)

      • New warranty. Better hardware revision.

Lot of people did the same couple weeks ago for the PS4pro deal

        • I don't think Xbox consoles get hardware revisions like the PS4s do. AFAIK, XB1X units being sold are the same as those day one. Mine is day one and it has been running perfectly since.

    • $99

  • Can I ask a semi-related question? How do you keep your downloaded games and stuff? Is that just linked to your Xbox ID or whatever?

  • +1

Got the $199 Minecraft version. Is it worth to trade and get this?

    • Nope. The S is good enough.

    • Depends. Do you have a 4k tv? Do you tend to play the latest games? Do you game quite a bit? Do you have 2 games you don't play anymore? Do you have a spare $249? If yes to most of them then why not. Resets the warranty on it as well. That's the main reason that I will probably do this

      • Using an Xbox One X to game on a 4K Bauhn TV. The bliss~

        • I game on a cheap 4K TV. What's wrong about that? Input lag and refresh rate? Yes, but you still can play and enjoy it. Especially if compared to One S

          • @unwashed00: I do too! Which is why I say bliss. With the right settings, the colour just pops!

  • Anyone know if there's a restriction on what games you can trade in? Or will my old NBA 2k and fifa games suffice lol

    • +1

Should be fine as long as Xbox one, PS4 or switch games.

For the recent PS4 Pro deal they didn’t care.

    • +1

If it is like last time, any two games which EB can resell. Last time, there were a lot of pre-owned games available for $2 so people bought some to then use them to trade in. NBA 2K series games were fine last time.

  • Semi tempted to upgrade the spare Xbox One S I have, considering I’m picking up COD MW anyways basically brings it to $149 out of pocket.

Anyone know if it’s a physical copy of MW or digital, assuming physical based on photo

    • Either way you have to download 3/4 of the game.
the disc only does a partial install then you have to download the remaining ~80gb

      • Was more so for the game sharing aspect of it, I only have a handful of disc copies as I share all my digital games with my nephew. In saying that he's got more games than any kid his age should have so he can go awhile without the new CoD :D

  • I am happily using an Xbox One S at the moment, which I would not mind upgrading to Xbox One X for at this price.

Having said that, I would also like to upgrade the Xbox to the Scarlett ones that comes out. My question is, will the Xbox One X add atleast $149 dollars towards the Scarlett? I.e. trading in the One S carries a value of $250 (roughly $100 more than typical trade in value). Will trading in the One X carry a value of atleast $399? The better gaming experience does offset losing $10 a month in value.

And totally unrelated, but why isn't FF7 remade for Xbox as well? Cross you Triangle Enix!

    • I’m in the exact same boat. Think I’m going to pull the trigger and trade this in Saturday

      • It's pros outweigh it's cons, I guess. And a One X will definitely be an upgrade option for Scarlett (much like the One X is an upgrade option for One S).

Anyone know if EB will increase trade value of extra controllers?

        • Yep! more stuff=more off the main price

          • @morpheous: I meant if they will pay more if I traded in extra controllers with the console (example valuing it at $35 instead of the usual $25).

            • @sh4hp: Whatever the current trade-in value of an controller is. If it is $25, then trade in an extra one gets you extra $25 off.

A typical strategy is to trade in more games. Pick the $2 or less ones for the two games you need to trade in. Then, trade in games which are worth more on top.

              • @netsurfer: I see. I'll keep waiting till they have a controller trade in bonus then.

Dang I've already traded in all my $2 games just the other day!

Time to exercise zero regret policy!

                • @sh4hp: Taking this deal mainly to later trade in for Scarlett is unwise. The initial trade-in offering once Scarlett is released won't be top notch. But, if you must, then be sure to sell all the included games and vouchers (for digital version games) a.s.a.p.

                  • @netsurfer: Wonder if EB games will deduct the full game prices from the total price if we decide to resell them on the spot.

                    Anyone tried that before?

                    • @sh4hp: Do they trade in DLC?

                      • @BewareOfThe Dog: I not sure, but probably not.

Was thinking of forgoing Overwatch (not really interested) and Outerworld (already free with gamepass).

    • +1

If a new One X is currently selling for $480 I don’t like your chances at all of getting a trade in of $399. Would expect closer to $200 to $300 a year from now, EB still needs to be able to sell that system at a profit second hand.

I also think the difference between a One S and an One X will be lower, $50 to $100.

Just a guess, but EB will want it to be a profitable exercise.

      • You do make a point.

And it is supported by Some facts based on the recent console trade in program, where a 500gb One S is valued at $180, 1TB One S is valued at $200, while a 1TB One X is valued at $320. So $140 difference.

However, a new 500gb One S can be bought for roughly $250 (with cash backs and discounts whatnot, heck even $200 during recent bargains), and EB is reducing the same amount for a used console. Theoretically speaking, they would probably do the same with the One X whereby they boost the trade in value by $70, thus bringing the $320 mentioned above to $390.

This is my prediction anyway. Besides, EB does price their consoles (and even games) un-competitively.

        • -1

“ thus bringing the $320 mentioned above to $390.”

Hope you are right. Twelve months from now the prices could be lower but. Don’t see how MS can maintain the One X at $500ish once Scarlets officially unveiled and they’re actively marketing it.

I would expect some sort of preorder promo however. Last gen they also did a boost to games traded in towards the console.

    • "And totally unrelated, but why isn't FF7 remade for Xbox as well? Cross you Triangle Enix!"

Because from memory, FF7 originally came from PS. PS is Sony and Sony is Japanese and FF7 is Japanese RPG so…. it is no brainer for it to be exclusive to PS4 in the beginning at least.

      • True…

  • If I get game pass ultimate for 1 month, download the games then after one month I decide not to continue subscription, will I be able to keep the game I downloaded ?

    • +1

You can keep it. You won’t be able to play it though.

      • What he says.

The games goes through several checks before loading.

I've also found trouble when your Xbox login security is the highest (password instead of passcode). The game tends to freeze due to the profile not completely unlocked (a missed password maybe?)

      • Thanks guys. So for a casual games the game pass is not really worth it?

Another query, if I wanted to play online , I need a Xbox live sub correct? Is it much different in price from a game pass sub? If not it’s a no brainer to go with game pass if I required online play?

        • Can get ultimate pass now. It's both live and game pass I think. Not sure of price. Casual games would be alright. Wide variety, some newer some older. Get it for 3 months and see how it makes you feel.

        • I think it's like 5 dollar difference. Honestly it's a no brainer to get the game pass, especially as a casual gamer.

Pay $15 dollar, try all the included games (Which is quite a lot), then let it lapse if you don't feel like playing, rinse and repeat. Much better than forking $50 for a new game (like GoW 5 or Outerworld), and not like it, in my personal opinion.

        • GamePass - you rent games basically and only games Microsoft picked. The set of games available on GamePass CAN change and DO change. Microsoft will keep first party exclusives games on GamePass. All 3rd party games are time limited.

The best way to utilise GamePass is to subscribe when you have time to play lots of games. However, Microsoft so far have introduce promotions for GamePass every time a new first party exclusive is about to be released so there is generally plenty of opportunities to pick up cheap GamePass throughout the year for 1 to 2 months at a time for $1-$2 each month. For casual gamers, $1-$2 per month when new first party exclusive is available is a great deal.

You do need XBox Live Gold to play online part of GamePass games. There is now GamePass Ultimate which combines GamePass with XBox Live Gold.

  • Ooo this is tempting. Would I need to reset my XB1S back to factory settings as a precaution before I trade it in?

    • They do it anyway. But if you want you can do it too.

      • -3

I bought a tablet from them years ago. Professional refurb they said. I made some posts on the old owners Facebook account and bought some stuff through the apple store.

  • Can it be 2 of any game?

    • Must be in resalable condition. So if you have games only worth $1-$2, you can maximize the advantage. Games which are not AU version will most likely be rejected.

  • Anyone know if you can use the Suncorp rewards app for 8% off when in store, and redeem the digital gift card instantly? (don’t want to do it before in case I can trade in more games and save even more)

    • Interested to know too. For future use.

    • +1

Not through Suncorp but my work uses Flare HR which also has 8% off EB cards as a perk, can confirm this works. Bought the gift cards just before trading in my OG PS4 to upgrade to a Pro, received and redeemed them instantly. Takes like 5 minutes at most for the gift cards to come through, depending on how busy the store is they shouldn't have an issue with checking the extra games you bring then giving you a few minutes to buy the gift cards.

    • I did this for the recent PS4pro deal. Took maybe 2 minutes for me to receive the digital gift card.

    • Can confirm this worked in store. My trade in value for an extra game was only $12 but worked out to only pay $219 so pretty good

  • Anyone know if you can trade in a 500GB model? All the trade-ins I've seen are for the 1TB :(

    • +1

      You sure can!

      • Ok great! But I already have a PC…

    • +1

They will accept any model XB1, just the price you pay for the X will vary

EDIT: Just a side note, last time they were accepting any model PS4’s for this XB1X deal also. So if someone is looking to switch it might be worth double checking.

EDIT 2: Previously on one of these deals they were accepting any 2 games for the trade; irrelevant of trade value.
