Could very well be. You'd still be using similar quality parts and would be losing on them building it for you (generally a +$100), but it should get fairly close.

I'm crossing my fingers CA, don't let me down.

    • One of the asus rx5700xt runs extremely hot compared to other cards.

  • 3700x for $455 is pretty good. Better not jack it tonight!

    • It appears like there are 2 listings on their website, one is 515 and the other 569. So technically you could get a 3700x for 412 unless I'm missing something and the listings are different.

      • -8

Can only see 569 listing, Can you link to the 515 one?

        • +1

edit: just realised its a special offer for when you buy something with it, my bad

          • @XDynamics:

This special price is only available when purchased in combination with another component!

Also the 'special price' can't be further discounted AFAIK.

          • @XDynamics: Very interesting that the ebay listing is only at 569.

            https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AMD-AM4-Ryzen-7-3700X-Eight-Core…

            • +3

@Nitro 123: Why not read the listing on their website? It's at a special price which isn't available on eBay. I’d really like to understand the reason for your neg.

This special price is only available when purchased in combination with another component!

              • +1

@tightarse: Must have negged by mistake on mobile, didn't know at all until now when message came through.
No reason to neg deal as it is a good deal, check my history if you like for consistency :)

  • So prices get jacked tonight

    • buckle up cowboy

    • +1

      im empty

    • All the same so far - sale hasn't started yet though.

    • +3

All the same as of now

      • Is the solution to the price jacking phenomenon calling it out in a public Ozbargain post where the associated rep is active, highlighting the current price with evidence or was I beaten to the punch with the already jacked prices quoted?

  • Do they use Australia post or some random shipping? Something like Fastway?

    • Think its courier, takes nearly 7 days

      • +3

Have to read the shipping info near the bottom. Leave a note and they'll use a courier like Startrack, otherwise it's regular AusPost. Happened to me last time.

    • +1

If you are local then Aus Post which takes 5 days even though I can see the shop from my home window!

    • +1

Only over east I think, to WA they use Auspost thankfully (not something I thought I'd ever say :) faster then Fastway though

    • +1

I've only ever had Startrack from CA and always within 2 days, more often overnight. That's QLD to SA too.

      • +2

I also had similar experiences for Sydney. Usually arrives within two days and on one occasion it arrived next business day.

    • +1

When I got laptop it was courier 2 days.

    • I've always received stuff via StarTrack from CA. Overnight shipping to WA in most cases.

    • This is the message you get when you order:

Thank you for your order. It has been processed and is now awaiting picking, packing, and courier collection from our warehouse.

Please note that all orders are shipped requiring signature on delivery - We use Startrack Premium or Australia Post eParcel for most residential addresses as either service is able to drop at the local post office if no one is home at time of delivery. For business addresses and some bulky orders we may also use Couriers Please (SE Qld only) or Startrack Express.

We do not promise to ship a particular order by a particular courier, however if you have a reason why shipping is preferred by a particular service, please let us know and we will attempt to accommodate you. Note Startrack premium is not an option for bulky orders.

We will update your eBay order details with the freight tracking number once it is available, normally it is done on the same day but sometimes can take a day or 2 after shipping. If your order has not been updated within this time frame please let us know and we will look into it further for you.

Note eBays in house tracking rarely works well, so we suggest you manually enter the tracking information provided into the couriers tracking service on their web site to keep an eye on your parcel and gain an idea of when its likely to arrive.

Just realised but they are making 2 listings for each product on their website, eg: ryzen 3600 is 315 on one webpage and 349 on the other? Is this normal or are they gonna jack up the prices in a few hours?

    • +1

      Only dodgy sellers do that…hmm

    • +1

They don't have a 3600 listed. The 349 is an old out of stock item page that I also found while hunting.

      Check this and this

The 3600x is there but may as well go 3700x at that point.

    • +2

They do this with some products like CPUs, if you look at the listing it says this price is valid when purchased with another component.

  • +3

Jack be nimble, jack be quick

    • +6

Jack raise the price, of those DDR5 RAM sticks.

      • Jack be good, Jack be frank…
Jack your jacking will empty my bank.

  • +3

Wow…the Intel i9-9960X is $2699 at Computer Alliance, but it's only $1399 at PC Case Gear.

Last few WD Reds I had delivered from CA were DOA so I went down and had them replaced with new. Aus post made sure the delivery was rough as…

    • Doesn't sound promising… I want a WD Red to add to my NAS :s

      • It should be fine. I got HDD's abused by mail many times and they've lasted >5 years.

Make sure to do your stability checks first though to avoid it failing just outside warranty etc.

  • Any decent gaming laptop deals?

Asus Strix Scar III with an RTX 2070 and 240Hz screen for $2399 sounds decent value.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ASUS-GL531GW-AZ102T-15-6-Core-i7…

  • Anyone know of a portable monitor that i could use for my nintendo switch and xbox one? These guys seem to have a couple but i have no idea if they will work wtih consoles.

DS918+ is currently $769 ($616 if old mate doesn't live up to his name)

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4-Bay-Synology-DS918-4GB-DiskSta…

    • I was watching this too. It’s gone up $20 since the last CA eBay sale but I suspect that’s just normal fluctuations in pricing. At this point I may as well hold out for the next generation or at least the 1019+ ($1149 currently before discount) to go on sale.

        • What’s your point?

Looking at my notes, the DS918+ during the last computer alliance eBay sale on 22/9, was $749 which comes down to $599.20.

So now that it’s listed at $769, it’s $20 more before discount.

          • @jace88: $615.20
            great price still!

            • @cam83: That's true but honestly, I'm still so torn. Given DS918+ came out 2 years ago in Nov 2017, I just feel daft to be buying something of this vintage knowing that Synology typically refreshes every year or two and the price whilst good relative to other sales on the same NAS, isn't good enough to convince me to buy a 2 year old NAS.

The DS1019+ came out which is essentially a 918+ with an extra drive bay and more RAM (and a substantial price jump due to lack of 5-bay competition) but it's still the same CPU and I just want to feel like I'm buying something a bit newer.

I'll wait closer to Christmas since the wife did ask me if I wanted a new NAS before (I presume she'll include some hard drives too!).

              • @jace88: "I'll wait closer to Christmas since the wife did ask me if I wanted a new NAS before (I presume she'll include some hard drives too!)."
                wow so nice!!!!!
I can't think of how to explain that we also 'need' a bunch of hdd's for a NAS as well as the box itself

Yeah I've seen the 1019 and it seems like a new version, but they haven't really announced anything last time i checked to confirm there was a 918 direct replacement etc.

I'm still waiting for the apple-tv update, which is also part of the plan to have a NAS on the network finally for it

                • @cam83: The 1019+ is literally the same as a 918+ in terms of actual performance so it just feels .. old. I'm sure someone will prove me wrong in that the Intel Celeron is fast enough for any practical use I'd have for my NAS but nevertheless, it did leave me wondering.

As for your point on the Apple TV update and a NAS on the network - one thing I would note is I hate DS Video. Everytime I try to get into it, it just mucks up my library data and comes up with a crappy interface. If I was more dedicated I could probably index and use correct metadata for everything but I'm a bit lazy and I find my current folder structure sufficiently easy to navigate using VLC on my Apple TV and connecting to the DS216j NAS over ethernet.

                  • @jace88: yeah mine will be just a ethernet connection between the two, not directly connected? (not even sure if that what you are saying)

                    • @cam83: Sorry poor wording choice by me. I really just meant to say if you're using the NAS as a fileserver and letting your client devices (eg Apple TV running VLC or any other DLNA app) then it doesn't need to be a high end NAS. It's only if you need transcoding on the device that the higher end models are probably more useful.

    • Decided to post it as a deal with some comparison data to help potential buyers: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/497341

  • Any good deals on NAS drives?

  • Can anyone tell me if these guys have a decent gaming monitor for around $200 or less?

Recently bought a techfast PC with a 1660 so assuming 1080 would be good ? 23-27”

    • +2

So you got 3 choices and can only pick one at that price point. Bigger size @ 27", higher refresh rate or increased resolution at 1440p.

I would try and get a high refresh rate one. But it depends on the types of games you play.
      https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Monitors/23-24-inch/7527…

No idea about quality of that one though.

      • I'll check it out.

For the kids; who'll mainly be playing Minecraft, CS GO and probably what ever new titles I decide I'll let them buy going forward.

  • I can't find the Samsung 860 QVO 2TB model. Do you think they will add it?

    • I couldn't see it either- only the 1TB and 4TB. Neither of which are great value IMO unless you really want NBA2K.

  • Buy now or wait for Black Friday… Decisions decisions.

    • +5

buy now, and if cheaper on B.F, buy another one

      • Yea I suppose with Ebay Plus can always return within 30 days for free

    • +1

Use a credit card with price protection :D

      • I would normally but I still have some discounted GCs to use

      • Does 28 Degrees price protection work with eBay discount codes?

  • +1

check price against umart or MSY

  • Of course they post this deal after I buy from them Saturday morning on eBay!

    • +1

You didn't happen to play battlefield agess ago did you? I remember a guy with your exact username.

      • Nope, last online game I played was counterstrike!

        • What was your username then ? lol

  • So trying to price my new PC and just about everything RAM, MB, SSD has been jacked so much that the discount is $10 to $15 only on each part vs stock prices.

Only bargain so far is 3700x at $455 but even then it's only $60 off.

Another non-event I think I'll wait for black friday/cyber monday as I'm not in a hurry.

  • Noctua Nh-d15 is tempting for $111 but the chromax.black version just got released. $164 delivered from Amazon though..

    • well i was looking that 2 days ago, when CA had only 10% off, then i went with $164 amazon black ver…
by now if i am choosing again $111 vs $164, i would go $111 normal ver.

      • Yeah.. I kinda prefer the black but don't mind the standard noctua colours either. Might wait for a 10% amazon cashback deal for the chromax.black

        • You can get the Dark rock 4 pro for $119 + shipping which performs nearly the same and is more quiet.

  • +5

    Great! Jack hasn't arrived. I got 20% off :)
10% cheaper than MSY and 20% cheaper than amazon

    • not all of the item… i had checked some items i want to buy, it ended up either the same price with MSY or +/- $1 to $5
      especially the PSU

some CA are cheaper, so best to check the price with MSY pdf file. and that's what i do.

trying to build a rig for my video processing

      • most of us buy discounted ebay gift card regularly
if it's only slight more expensive than MSY, it's still cheaper by using GC

    • I got one

    • +1

It's still there. I did notice its bugged on mobile though and for some reason displays out of stock.
      Here, use this link. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ASUS-RX5700XT-8GB-TUF-GAMING-X3-…

      • Be warned, this is the worse 5700 XT for the price.

    • looks like its back in stock, but id steer clear of the Strix series radeon series. theres a fair few reviews pointing to bad thermals with the Asus cards

      • I think he is referring to the reference model

    • +1

There was only 1 reference card in stock at 10am, I was also eyeing it as it would've been $543.20 which is a historic low I believe, but opted for an AIB model with better cooling

  • Anyone have experience with the 28" Samsung LU28E590DS/XY 4K UHD LED Monitor? Looking for a 4k monitor for my xbox one x. Any other recommendations

  • +1

No price jack on the DS218+, picked one up for $383.20, yess!

  • +1

thanks OP! pulled my trigger for the miniITX project!

Since some sensitive member or moderator had my previous comment removed, here's a 'PG' version:

    ITT: bad jokes about JACKING.

  • ASUS 5700XT price jacked from 639 to 839 now :( damn it.

    • +1

      gigabyte still no jacking

  • X62 Kraken was $215 at around 8am this morning and now it's $239…. Seems the only thing worth buying now for my new build is the NZXT 510Elite case at 80% = $199, $50 discount

  • 2x RTX 2080ti gone in 2 second at 10:00am, really :)
any more will bw in stock rep?
