  • Dammit, had the last 34" MSI OPTIX MPG341CQR monitor in my cart after clicking buy it now and someone just got it before I clicked buy. Bugger.

  • Long awaited. Got my ups finally 😛.

  • Any decent 2070 Supers?

    • Nothing to get excited for. I just OC'ed my GTX 970 and I'm getting very good benchmarks on the latest games like Jedi Fallen Order. Personally gonna hold out to wait for the 30xx series to be announced in ~6 months.

  • Could anyone recommend parts? if I can use this sale to build a mid level gaming rig for under $1000? Possibly to beat the 5700 deal by TF, which is good value but the vendor uncertainty and their shipping time is what's keeping me from pulling the trigger.

I'm keeping $1000 for the computer and $300 for Monitor+Mouse+Keyboard.

I'm also open to other suggestions since I'm also looking to replace my old laptop to something that's portable (size+weight) and okay for gaming. I might just chose to spend more on a laptop instead.

    Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

  • I did a quick comparison on PC Part Picker and there’s $144 difference… not much of a sale

    That’s the build for reference : https://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/trungie-xix/saved/#view=cDd…

Went to pull trigger on Samsung SSD -> NBA 2K20 (who wants that?!) + price hike , went to pull trigger on Gigabyte GPU, 3 months Game pass on Microsoft (there was a $1 deal for 3 months!). If it was still Call of Duty I would've gotten it. They just lost a $750 transaction :() Didn't get anything.

    • they didn't jack on samsung ssd, i bought evo 970 plus 512gb m2 and evo 870 1tb ssd.

they didn't jack on gigabyte RX5700XT 8GB too, i am still deciding if i should pull the trigger or go for 2070 (similar performance similar price tag but less issue)

      • That's why I said price "hike", I never claimed they price jacked. The Evo 860 1TB price has increased $10 up from beginning of Nov, and compared to the last promotion (had BL3 game), the price difference is $20.

        • +1

          sorry misread hike to jack

        • You do realise that prices can fluctuate yeah? Anyway if you're really trying to look for the lowest dollar cost, wait until Samsung does the next cashback promotion.

          • +1

@jace88: yeah HDD and SSD were cheaper before june, but i try not to regret in past.

it only makes me hard to sleep haha

  • Just bought a Benq 4K projector. The price had not been jacked. I’ve been waiting for this sort of price.

  • no jack on the hdds this time but too bad i already gotten it from futu

    • same…i made the purchase on 14th mainly from futu and CA….just did a quick comparision…the price diff is $113.85 for whole pc :(
      i should've wait

u win some, u lose some. thats life. if this round there are jacking, then you'll be patting yourself on the back anyways.

  • can anyone recommend a monitor for work purposes dual monitor setup? I just use chrome/excel ect not using photoshop or videos ect. Was thinking:

    289 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/29-LG-29WL500-B-IPS-UltraWide-Mo…
    229 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/27-LG-27MK430H-B-IPS-LED-FreeSyn…
    239 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/27-AOC-27B1H-FHD-IPS-LED-Monitor…

    • Don't know the answer but I am also interested since I need to buy 1 for work purpose too.

    • +1

I feel that if it's purely productivity, as long as it's not a ridiculously cheap monitor from an unknown manufacturer with a really bad panel, they'll work just fine. (ie poor refresh rates, horrible UI, lack of input options, blur, really poor colour accuracy, noisy?, not too sure what else could go wrong in a cheap monitor)

Out of those three though, I'd go for the first option (the LG ultrawide) if it's mainly Chrome and Excel since productivity excels on wider screens IMO. Once you've gone ultrawide, it's really hard to go back. You'll also occasionally find times where you (or someone else) has been sloppy and left crap to the right of an Excel file for a model/macro and it's only obvious when you open the spreadsheet on a wider screen!

      • Ultrawide is a difficult burden…

Once you commit then a pair of 24" dual monitors just doesn't seem BIG enough anymore!

        • Don’t worry super ultra wide is there for you. I have zero regrets going for 49” 32:9. It’s amazing for productivity as well as gaming.

all their ram have opened-never used instead of brand new. is that a mistake?

    • +2

Brand new, but many RAM models are opened by us on receipt where they don;t have their own unique serials. We can add our own as needed for tracking/warranty.

      • That's clever. I always wondered how stores deal with potentially fraudulent returns (which raise operating costs for stores which ultimately end up being borne by other legitimate customers).

      • Ohhh explained the opened box when I purchased RAM on the last 20% sale. Was going to message to see why but CBF. Was worried that it was a returned unit but worked fine.

  • Thanks TA, had to get a VOIP ATA this week, so pretty happy with a Cisco SPA112 for $55 delivered.

Shipping kills the deals I wanted

    • Yeah Plus helps on these. Is this deal still valid? Looks like might be over as I can't see the banners any more

      • Same on my account. I think that one's expired.

  • Why don't we see the SSD deals of a few months ago across all retailers?

  • +1

I'm about to have 10 copies of NBA 2K20 :|

    • Haha if it was PC I'd be all over that bad boi.

    • I'll take one :P even though apparently its a garbage game :P

  • bought an asus RT-AX88U, with the 20% off and $40 cashback as CA is on the approved retailer list :D

    • Do you mean with Amex Shop Small?

      • No. The Asus cash back. http://www.asuspromotion.net/

        • I see. Thanks for the information! Nothing on the promotion list of use to me unfortunately :(

  • Not sure why I was charged a $15 postage fee if I have eBay Plus, and the items both said 'free standard postage' (I didn't select another postage method).

    • How many items did you order?

I've found that eBay Plus with some other stores (eg Bing Lee) can sometimes lose the free postage unintentionally with multiple items in the cart forcing me to buy them individually.

    • Could be just on your PayPal receipt. Looks like they also got fell price items listed despite 20% discount

    • I chatted with eBay… the postage fee is paid by them to CA. For whatever reason they still show it on the order details page, but it's not actually charged.

  • Code isn't working for me, anyone else having a problem?

    • Never mind, it's because I've got a UK Ebay account, need to get Ebay to update it.

  • +1

So were there legitimate price jacks, or just people jumping on the bandwagon to whinge?

Looks like some people got some decent prices on things

    • +1

From what I have observed over the past few weeks.. Every component had exactly the same price today as a week ago. I have purchased 5 deferent ones..

    • +2

Yep the jack jokes are becoming tiresome. It's the herd mentality every time a deal is posted. If they don't like the deal or bargain just post to say so and move on.

      • +1

I agree. It got tiring but then I tried to counter some of the hate by also posting historical prices and dates in my recent deals just to be transparent around where fluctuations occur.

  • The 3700x looks tempting, but I think I would wait till BF/CM and get a 3600 with a high end cooler.

  • Anyone come across some worthwhile desktop PSU's?

  • I was after an Epson Perfection v800 scanner which came down to around $719. They had one, I went out, came home and none left! Any chance of a restock CA???

  • Looking at building a handy-down computer (old parts) and need some help with a cheap case. Looking between the Cougar ATX MX340 or the MX330G - from what I've read the 330G has better airflow, but wondering if that will make much of a difference. Unless you happen to have another option?

Edit: as a side note I have a Hyper evo 212x sitting around and that is 158mm tall (which means it will only fit in the MX340).

    • For those following along at home, I went the MX340 for the extra space for the CPU cooler and it also looks nicer.

What exactly is %20 off RRP here?

Finally upgraded from my 5+ year old Dell 30inch 2.5k to a LG 43inch 4K behemoth!

    Very excited.

    RM750X CA price 200+ 15 shipping, MSY price 170
means that its cheaper just to get it from MSY >:(

  • Invalid code?

Ryzen 3600's are up on the store now for $279.20

Best price I have seen for the 3600 so far if you are not wanting the minimal increase getting the 3600X.
They didn't have them in the store on the day the sale started so it must be new stock they just received.

Get in before they are gone, can't imagine the stock will last unless you're holding out for the black friday sales.

  • Just wanted to post that I ordered something when the sale started on Monday around 10:30am, and the item arrived at my door in Sydney around noon on Tuesday.

Only feedback I'd have is I wish they didn't use a staple on the brown padded bag. It had become a bit 'open' when I was grabbing it from the delivery guy and jabbed my thumb. Yes I know I could drink some cement but I think there must be better ways of keeping the bag secure than using a staple.

My 10.30'ish order to Sydney was onboard for delivery at 8am Tuesday - unfortunately sat in the van hooning around town and went back to depot at 8.15pm (still with the message it would be delivered that day). Got transferred to the local post office overnight and was out for delivery at 7am, turned up midday. CA's speed was great, just let down in the last mile.

      • I ordered at 10:01 on Monday morning. It made it to redbank near Ipswich at 5pm today. It's supposed to get to Melbourne. Not sure where it's going……

  • +1

I ordered on Monday at 12:44pm, got a 'sent' notice Tuesday and still haven't received anything on Friday (was due yesterday), tracking info hasn't updated at all ever bar the 'label created'.

AusPost claim Computer Alliance never sent it just made the label, called Computer Alliance yesterday and was told no it hasn't been sent yet but would be yesterday, called today and was told that it was sent on Tuesday and it's clearly an AusPost issue.

AusPost is atleast looking into it and spent 30min on the phone to me asking for details etc, Computer Alliance brushed me off within 2min saying not their problem.

$1000 item just missing somewhere, 22 years of buying from Computer Alliance, sure as hell won't be again, they could at least look into it more. Last time I ordered from them I got it (and tracking into) delivered the next day, this is just pathetic.

Hell I'm only 45min away, I would have picked it up if they had allowed it.

    • I had something similar. It was marked as sent (also 30 mins away store). It didn't get marked as picked up until Thursday but arrived Friday. I would say it's not missing and will arrive Monday - are you in QLD or NSW? Remember there are bush fire warnings and delays at the moment.

      • +1 for this. Their tracking system doesn't always work. I've had items I've picked up and the tracking says it's not even close.
