50000 Telstra Plus Rewards Points for Direct Debit

Was just checking my services in the Telstra app and there is a banner advertising 50000 plus points for signing up to direct debit, that’s a bit more than what it costs for a redemption on a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds so seems generous, previous deal as 4K of points.

  • Finally had someone from Plus team contact me today to give me the bad news about how I am not eligible for being a cancel/reapply DDer (after multiple live chats with operators who all assured my points were confirmed on the system and to wait just a bit longer)

    So what are our options if we wanted to continue railing against such deceptive practice of changing T&C's post-fact?

    I've read some people have had success with the TIO? Anyone care to share the steps they took to get a favourable outcome?

    • have you tried making a complaint? I was on the same boat and got a favourable outcome after complaining. I don't think TIO will do anything but the thread is 10 page long so not sure if anyone had success via that medium!

    • Same outcome for me. Will follow up with a Telstra complaint first and then eventually contact TIO if no success. They assisted me in another case against a different Telco in the last which worked in my favour. Big company is just trying to pull one over on you and is hoping people give up.

  • Watch out guys, Telstra overcharge my account two month after I got the points.
