GTX 1070 Founders Edition Gaming PCs [16G/120G]: $715 (R5-2600) / $765 (R5-3500X) + Delivery @ TechFast

870
CHEERS-SCOMO

Note: Promo code updated. Hi all, I've had plenty of requests for a repeat of this deal and while we can't match it due to the increasing price of RAM and SSDs (in particular which has skyrocketed), this is pretty close at $715 and $765 respectively, with an SSD drop from 240GB to 120GB. It is strictly limited to 20 units.

Reminder on 1070 GPU origin: They were installed in systems for a gaming event and then not used since, so have barely been used. Although they are out of manufacturer's warranty, we are offering a full 1 year warranty on them as part of our assembled system warranty. They are not available for separate purchase.

Ryzen 5 2600 or Ryzen 5 3500X / GTX 1070 Founders Edition Gaming PC

  • 120GB SSD
  • 550W PSU

  • Thanks Luke, you heard us after all.

But instead of R5-2600, couldn't you do R5-1600AF and maybe increase the SSD size or sell it even cheaper instead?

    Good deal none the less.

Edit: I understand there is an existing 1600AF+1070 offer but I was referring to 16gb Ram combo as standard

    • +10

I've actually just expired the 1600AF+1070 deal - supply of those chips is limited and best suited for our budget range at this point. If supply changes, maybe, but we just need to be mindful of allocation of components vs deals at the moment.

    • +2

You can always add it in the drop down selections when you configure a unit up to select higher SSDs or more RAM. I put two orders down on the previous offer and bumped up the default SSD from 120GB to 240GB for $29 as an example. RAM can be done the same way along with any other extras. The discount will still apply to the base config and the extras will just be added on top of that.

Pretty happy about getting the 1600AF offer. Pretty much every benchmark shows it matching the R5-2600 is all respects bar the name.

  • +2

Excellent price and specs. Ive yet to see a local competitor come close to your price and builds.

  • Good thing you mentioned the R7 was almost sold out. Great deal, just pounced it straight away.

  • Hi Luke, Ryzen 5 2600 or 3500X? purely gaming use. thanks

    • -1

The effective speed difference is around 18% so if you have the $50 in your budget I think it's a good call.

      • +2

Userbenchmark is not a reliable source. They weight multicore scores at 2% in a time when programs are using more cores, which happened to rank Intel higher across the board… They also replied to criticism by calling people shills.

        • Also didn't they used to have a 32 or 64 core benchmark instead of their current 8 core benchmark?

Ryzen 3500x is "faster" by 15% on their 2,4,6 core benchmarks, but is only "faster" by 3% on the 8 core benchmarks due to SMT on the 2600 doing some work.

Honestly, userbenchmark is only good to make sure your components are working properly, but not a good indication of what is the best CPU.

          • +1

@12Ghast: If you scroll down further on the page, they still have a 64-core comparison. In this one, the 2600 performs over 20% better than the 3500X. Personally, I'd prefer the 2600 over the 3500X, even if they are at the same price; Unless you can prove that the 2600 will bottleneck gaming performance on your favourite games, in your particular setup (most PC's will still be bottlenecked by GPU; unless I am mistaken)

            • @pronoun: Thanks! Didn't see it before.

I swear it used to be up there with the rest of the core benchmarks.

              • @12Ghast: Yes, it did used to be up there with the other core benchmarks. Can’t remember exactly when it changed.

  • Thank you Luke!! Will purchase on the 15th when the paycheck comes in :)

  • Thanks Lukey

      5 people now. Ouch

      • -1

It’s the same as the whole TP thing. People just follow like sheep.

    • +1

Then go buy the specific card. Luke has already said this bundle is limited to 20 units, so why should you be more important than anyone else and get an even better deal?

      • They’re actually quite hard to get and I wasn’t trying to be important. Just asking if he could chuck the cheapest parts possible in it, is all.

  • +1

I dipped out of the Gaming PC market not long ago, but now I have no idea which of these Techfast deals represents best value. The industry moves so damned quickly!

  • I'm just curios. I have a school kid. Can I claim 'Education tax refund' with this PC?

    • +1

more importantly will it be applicable if the kid is in pre school or Kindy lol

    • +3

      More importantly its *curious.
      Education.

      • +5

        More importantly, it's *it's.

    • Isn’t that like not a thing anymore? Probably wrong but if it is how much can you get back?

  • +1

Perfect place to spend the $750 government stimulus.

    • I was just going to say the same thing.
My PC of 6 years is overdue..

    • +12

      Promo code updated accordingly

  • Hi Luke, why (when selecting this deal) does the shopping cart no longer say "Warranty : 1 Year Return To Base Warranty"?

    • +1

Dropped off the listing. Is back now. It's a standard inclusion in any case but it's back, with 2 and 3 year options.

  • Hi Luke,

I ordered this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/523319 yesterday and would like to get this deal instead.
Is it possible to get a cancellation?

    Thanks

    • +1

Sure, please email [email protected] with the details.

    • +3

Honestly, given you've already bought it, I'd stick with the Ryzen 5 3600. The 3600 is far better than the 2600 and the gap between them is just going to get wider over time. There's a reason why 2nd gen Ryzen prices on the used market were decimated the moment 3rd gen Ryzen came out.

  • Do the Vorta or Jem Hadar get a discount?

    • Odo says .. 'No'!

      • 10% off for Cardassian/Breen too.

  • would this be good for video editing?
looking to get into it and need a machine to support it.

    • depends what program you would be using.
If it is purely CPU intensive then go with a PC with a better CPU. r5 3600 probably would be the minimum you'd want to consider.

If the program supports GPU acceleration with cuda and nvenc then this should be ok.

Of course in the end, this PC can still edit videos, it's just how much you value preview quality and your time.

      • Thanks for the feedback. Will most likely be going with Premiere Pro

        • +1

then this pc should be adequate if you use the voukoder plugin for premiere

Hi all, hubby is looking to purchase a gaming / home use computer and wonder if this would fit the bill?
He is wanting to play games on Steam via internet with our son - we are not tech savvy and have no idea what we should be looking for! Budget is around $1000 (without monitor)
Any assistance / advice would be appreciated
    Deb

    • +2

this is exceptional value and can definitely play all games currently out and games that are coming out in the next few years.

    • +1

yes good value. You will probably need to buy a second hard drive to plug in (2 connectors, can be done in 30 seconds) as 120GB storage will only fit a few games and windows on it.

    • So the 2600 or 3500X? Also, upgrade to 1tb hard drive, 1tb SSD, add windows 10 and wi-fi and we should be good to go??

How does this compare to https://www.harveynorman.com.au/hp-pavilion-i5-8gb-1tb-hdd-d…

      • I can't remember exact performance benchmarks on top of my head, but this Ryzen 5 2600/GTX 1070 combo is likely going to have 1.5x to 2x more gaming performance than the HP. Considering you are in Adelaide ie where TF is also at, their support should be pretty prompt and not worse than HN.

I'd also recommend you to do the following upgrades in the options:
        - case change to leaper flair RGB (mainly due to it seems to have more USB ports at the front for more convenience. But totally up to you in terms of looks)
        - upgrade ssd to 240gb ($49), for likely better performing drive
        - extra second 1TB hard disk drive for storage ($69)
        - maybe USB wifi adaptor if you want them to set it up for you ($19), but can go without if you have ethernet cable connection for internet at home (Rep can you confirm if the USB wifi adaptor is N or AC?)

  • Hey Luke, just checking out. Did delivery costs go up? Remember it used to be $29, but showing up as $37.95. I'm in Sydney metro. Thanks for this deal :)

    • +3

Yep, we moved to calculated shipping about two weeks ago to ensure ongoing viability. $29 was a subsidised rate that cannot be continued in the current market.

      • +1

        Perfectly fine :) thank you!

  • +1

Does anyone know if the b450 mobo is worth the upgrade?

I heard theres compatible issues with the ryzen 3000 series + b450 mobos?

    • +2

It depends on whether you want to overclock or not, and your plans on upgrade path. In this case, also other features.

So if you want to do any of the following, then yes it is probably worth it (with precautions):

      • use NVMe drive as storage, whether now or later in the future. TF's site actually said their A320 board doesn't support NVMe drives

      • overclocking, whether now or in the future.

      • upgrade your CPU to 8+ cores in the future (mainly I don't know whether the A320 board's VRM components are good enough to not throttle the 3700X+ CPUs. Having said that, this VRM concern also applies to the B450 that you'll get. So check with TF to see which board they use).

  • +1

Lots of people reported issues with 1070 GPU'd - stuttering, games crashing.

If a faulty one was received what can be offered for exchange?

    • +1

A replacement, under warranty, if it's a hardware issue. Software incompatibility or specific game-related issues are not covered.

      • Thanks luke :)

  • Love the code hahahaha

  • Luke, anymore 1070FE deals coming soon?

  • Hello Luke,
I tried ordering one of these bad boys online but the code isn't valid for some reason. Can you please shed some light on this?

    • We sold through the 20 units very quickly unfortunately. We will have more deals of varying types this week.

      • Thanks, Luke, please let me know when you have a great 'Gaming PC' deal on offer roughly around $700-1000. I want to buy one quick before Covid-19 starts influencing the domestic trade-in Australia. Plus, gotta find something to do in Isolation ;)

  • Hi Luke,

I placed an order with you guys on the 26th of Feb, was just hoping for an update on possible shipping times? Understand things must be crazy now, emailed support as well. Really appreciate any update! Thanks!

    • Hey Adam, it will depend on the spec of your system. Support will reply as soon as they are able to, thanks!
