Damn with the Amex cash-back thats $238 ! Unfort. I have a PS3 already that I can't find the time to play with.

    • how do you get the Amex cash back?

      • +1

Damn I already used my cashback on something less useful :-(

EDIT: oops, my reply was supposed to be for maxixix - I wasn't trying to be unhelpful :-P

        • pretty sure its too late to sign up

  • Great price.

  • +1

great price for replacement console once u sell the kinect!

  • +2

They are also releasing the 4GB standalone next month with an RRP of $249…will most likely be had for $199:

"Xbox will also introduce an entry level console to the Australian market retailing at AUD$249 RRP with the standalone 4GB Xbox 360, available for the first time in October."

    http://www.xboxworld.com.au/news/xbox-360-kinect-bundles-get…

      Sweet news dude.
I'll wait because I don't want the kinect.

      • Kinect is not that bad.

    • "…standalone 4GB Xbox 360, available for the first time in October."

First time in October? Wasn't 4GB XBox 360 already in Australia for a long time?

      • only the 4gb kinect bundle was available (or the 250gb console on its own).

if the 4gb by itself RRPs for $249 and the retaillers do it for sub-$200, it'll finally give me an incentive to replace my crusty, old and noisy falcon-based 360 :p

its awesome how cheap xboxes are getting. and some really amazing titles are cheap too. it's a good time to be a gamer. And this is with the fact this gen is sticking around a few more years.

    • Dunno about that. Wii U will likely be launched next year, and the rumour mill over the PS3 successor has already begun. Xbox is the oldest of the lot, and it's long in the tooth (HDDVD anyone?) So probably 1-2 years, but I'd bet on there being a few less than "a few".

      • the last official word from microsoft was that xbox 360 would remain until 2015 wasn't it? sounds familiar but I am not too sure. I don't follow that closely.

        • Yeah, they said Xbox and PS3 will have ten year cycles. Sony sets a precedent for still supporting the PS2.

      • a few less than a few = 3-3=0

        HOLY CRAP

      • They want to get a fair few years out of the kinect from what ive heard.

  • Hmm isn't this price drop due to MS phasing out the 4GB version? There has been news the 250GB will replace the 4GB models for the same price point once the current stock is sold out.

  • You can also get the 250GB version for $399 at Target.

    • +1

You can get a xbox 250GB HDD from ebay for $40 for your 4GB xbox and you get 254GB xbox even cheaper than $399.
And you come with a "bonus" Kinect, why not?

      • -3

I'm pretty certain you can't add the HHD to this model.

        • Well you can buy a brand new 250/320GB WD 2.5' disk for $40-50 then make it as Xbox drive. Google it you'll get the step-by-step procedure on how to do it, fairly easy.

        • $40 XBOX 250 HDD on eBay just paid, wait, plug and play.
They did the rest flashing hard drive and housing stuffs for you.
          No brain job, baby.

        • Does the ebay one comes with an enclosure or just a flat one that gets inserted to Xbox drive slot?

        • @Xerot, and why u jumped to that. Google it first :)
Videos are flooded on youtube, how to use an old xBox HDD to this one.
and also Genuine 250 GB Hdds are sold for around 100 bucks in bigw, jbhifi.
Also fake ones are imported in a shell with SATA laptop hdd and they all work fine.
You can even save your gamer details to a USB pen drive.

@skytree ebay ones do come in an enclosure or you can buy an enclosure for around $3.79 delivered.

        • Would it be looked less beautiful with an enclosure than just slidding it inside the Xbox slot? :)

250GB with Kinect plus 1500 MSP $399 at DSE

i just bought one from ebay last week for 360 w/o kinect but with the 250gb harddrive. seriously. hate my luck.

    • Yeah i bought a new one from game and well over paid now

Is that a Rep Talking?? cant believe no one is talking about the WoW store deal. they have it for 298… (i guess this deal is still $10 cheaper, not 100) ..
    https://shop.1wow.com.au/productcart/pc/XBOX-360-SLIM-CONSOL…

    • +3

Are you a rep for WoW???

Why would anyone talk about a deal that's $10 MORE expensive?

      • -1

Nope i am not a Rep, just looking for the best deal.
i meant the $100 saving comparisons and the fact that the WoW's deal has been on for couple of days… so obviously this deal is $10 cheaper .. not 100…

FYI you can get the 250GB hdd plugin upgrade on ebay for between $40 and 50 free shipping from Aussie dealer. I recently bought a new 4gb XBOX 360 rugby deal for $235 on ebay… + $45 for the HDD. Plug hdd in and works right away.

    For example : http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Xbox-360-XBOX360-Slim-250GB-Hard-…

    hope that helps

    • That won't be a genuine Microsoft HDD but it probably doesn't really matter. Good price, and in my view the hard disk is essential (even if for nothing else than using the disc-to-drive copy feature)

      • Yep i forgot to mention its def not a "geniune" one but they will just the same and have any good branded HDD inside ( i haven't bothered to open and find out).

Before i purchased this i was planning to just buy a decent cheap 250GB 2.5" HDD from MSY et al, but found 250gb drivers are ~$50 anyway. So to avoid having to fiddle around getting a drive without the proper enclosure fitted i just went with a hdd + enclosure on ebay for a few bucks more

    • or get your old xBox HDD case open and installed in the slim one.

      • +1

True yep, as i mentioned above though you COULD get a separate 250HDD and install it by fiddling around with the lining up the sata connectors in the drive bay (videos on doing it on youtube). However the cost of a stand alone 250GB hdd is around $50 anyway so i just went with a drive AND xbox enclosure for a few bucks more including shipping on ebay. Arrived in a couple days

        • I have my old genuine xbox 60GB HDD :)

    • I just got the 4GB xbox 360 bundle so does this 250GB hdd just plug into one of the usb slots and if so why can't I use any usb hdd?

      • No, there is a special enclosure in the xbox for that. You can use Laptop SATA HDD. USB ports have a limitation of 32GB, I suppose. They have made it to be used by a pen drive only.

  • +1

This going to be the normal price ($299), rrp is a joke comparing to ps3

  • Is it really a bargain if it is going to be the new RRP?

  • I'll get one when it doesn't come with kinect.

  • +1

this is because PS3 is under $300.00?

  • -4

if you order it from http://www.thehut.com/games/consoles/xbox-360-consoles.list they are selling it for $206 AUD with free shipping

"Please note that we are unable to ship Books and Electronics outside of the UK."

  • This deal is only available online only? Can someone confirm? I went to the Big W store at lunch time and they have it for $388 or something similar. When I told them about the online price i was told to that i need to order it online to get that price.

    • I doubt it. If that was the case then why is there a "Find In Store" button? Clearly its there so that if the item is sold out online you can find it in one of their stores.
Besides, all the online only items are clearly marked on the Big W website as "Online only special".

      • I just bought it instore at BigW $288 now to sell the kinect sensor :D

  • Out of stock online. There is availability at some stores, sold out in others. Look on the bigw web page linked at the top and put in your postcode.

  • Can someone post a receipt,please?

    • If you want to price match. I doubt stores are doing it based on receipts. They see the online or catalog price printed. Many of the receipts uploaded are fake as per stores.\
So I think, you are good to show them the online link.

    • squall3031, take the add to HN or JB (speak to the right peson, and it's usually pretty straight forward to get a price match). As I stated before, the guy at JB Chapel st. is pretty good with price matching.
I don't know about fake receipts gagans,! I think our fellow OzBargainers that bother to post their receipts may have something to say about that.

      • I don't think he meant people posting fakes, rather customers who have gone into stores with copies of doctored receipts to try to price match. I know where I work we won't accept receipts, only catalogues or online/newspaper ads.

  • I know BigW Carindale was trying to boost sales by announcing this deal over the loudspeaker in the store. Dunno if they got stock left.

  • Okay! I can confirm BIG W Sydenham (Watergarden) in Victoria have them for $288.00 each. I'm happy. Now, the reason I bought this is to get the Kinect Sensor. I don't need the XBOX 360 as I have one already….
I'm offering to sell it to my friends now. Hahahaha.

  • I would hold off till Saturday - A little birdie told me another big retailer will have a better deal!
They have just had a BIG delivery of consoles during the week!

    • Which another big retailer? JB Hi-Fi?
I bought this from BIG W because of American Express $50 Cash back deal. If I manage to sell my xbox 360 only, for about $200 - $225, that means I got Kinect Sensor plus the game for $38 - $13. lol

      • nup - but are part of the Amex deal too!

        • EB Games - see my comment a few below with link

  • lol. oh well, thats okay. I'm still happy with losing at least $38 for Kinect only. :)

  • Its been $299 before and that was before the price drops , this should be $249 to be special.

    • Yeah, but we all know how Australian businesses are. Reap profits as much and as long as they can.

  • wonder how does ebay sellers are going to survive. saw the same pack on ebay and they are going for $300+

    • Few people will keep buying. I have seen many times people selling the second hand stuff for more then the Sale price of that item.
Looks like few people blindly believe eBay to be cheap.
Also think of few people checking prices few months back and then keep trying to buy those things on ebay without knowing the current price.

  • harvey norman have dropped their price to $288 for the kinect package now, they also have the 2011 rugby world cup edition for the same price which i think is a bit of a rip.

check this out, its an EB games catalouge. but the stores said it was a pricing error! DAMN!
