@Horrorstory: That sucks! And theoretically you can't use the DLC code from the Gamesmen copy if you're planning to return it; they might use that as grounds to refuse a refund.

                  • @Mega Vanillish: Not so as the only way they would know a code was used is if they tried to use it themselves. You think a store is going to test every code for every return? They have work to do not test free pre order codes. As long as the game itself is still sealed and returned in the same manner it arrives thats all they care about.

                    • @User50301: Didn't someone post earlier that the Gamesmen DLC card is inside the case, meaning you'd need to unseal the game to find the code.

                      • @Mega Vanillish: Why would Gamesman be the only ones inside the case if people are saying their JBHIFI copies did not get the dlc and all amazon customers have said the dlc codes were emailed to them? The copies are all the same and there is no way a small chain store like Gamesman would have different packaged standard edition copies made differently by the supplier. And anyway if they were in the case then those same people cant complain they did not receive the dlc code can they?

            • @Horrorstory: you will still have the gamesman pre order dlc.

              • @User50301: What is this DLC everyone is taking about?

                • @t0087669: Nothing major just some early upgrade skills for the game. A training manual and ammo upgrade.

      • I saved $14 only. $68 Amazon pre-order - $5 preorder discount. Not worth the hassle. I wish I never ordered from Gamesmen and sold my Amazon preorder (which arrived early arvo).

  • +7

I messaged Gamesmen yesterday asking for clarification on the shipping and this was all they replied:

"Thanks for reaching out to us, we'll be in touch with you shortly."

24 hours later, no update. Tracking hasn't been scanned since 2am, so my copy hasn't even left NSW. Kicking myself for taking the weekend off work, figuring any half-competent company would've shipped these earlier than 6pm the night before release (like every other retailer in the country).

So vote with your wallets, folks. Leave negative feedback on the store to disincentivize this deceptive conduct, and cancel your eBay Minus subscriptions before they bill you for the privilege of being treated with contempt.

    • +6

Be careful how you word your feedback on eBay as they can very easily ask eBay to remove it due to a technicality.

If you leave feedback it didn't arrive by today they can have it removed if game is delivered within the estimated delivery date next week as indicated in your purchase history.

Think carefully how you want to word it so they have difficulty removing it

      • +1

        How would you word it?

        • +2

          "Not happy"
"Slow response" if you didn't get a response within 24 hours as per above example

          Something vague

    • Very disappointed and I won't be buying from them in the future. Unfortunately, I've already ordered a Switch and Xbox One Elite Series 2 controllers from them. I'll be leaving negative feedback once my game finally arrives as well as a negative review on Google.

    • When you message them, you first get an automated response. The fact that they didn't reply 24 hours later means they just don't give an F about this. I also messaged them; we'll see what they have to say if they even deem to respond.

      • They eventually responded yesterday with the same generic message someone else posted above.

    • The miniscule savings aren't worth the contempt that eBay and Gamesmen treat their customers. Amazon are way better across the board; delivery, customer service, stock. Yes they didn't have this deal which only helped a small amount of people and lasted 2 minutes but I would rather give my custom to them.

Lets not kid, no one is paying $99 RRP on release. JB is $69, Amazon $68, and EB price match. In my case I saved $14 ($5 Amazon voucher for pre-order early this year).

      • -6

Its annoying granted but its not life or death. First world problems to wait a few days.

        • +6

How many things are life or death? We live in the first world so of course we're going to talk about first world problems. I don't think anyone here said it was life or death (I know you're probably using hyperbole…).

From my experience and looks like the expectations of many here, when you pre-order something (especially as Gamesmen take your money in advance, Amazon don't until they ship), you expect to get it on release. If Amazon and EB can do it, then surely Gamesmen can as well. They just chose NOT to.

People who pay launch prices want to and expect to play it on release which we pay a premium for. Many like myself wouldn't have ordered it on a flash sale which is very hit or miss (2 minute window) if we knew we might get it mid next week sometime.

Anyway, I've learnt my lesson. I won't be ordering anything from Gamesmen again. I also had a problem with another order but they weren't helpful and redirected me to the manufacturer. The true sign of great customer service is when things go wrong and how that company deals with it; Amazon are amazing, EB Games are really good too despite their high RRP prices but they price match. JB have also been excellent.

      • -2

I'll take 18 bucks savings to wait 3 days EZ. Also that $5 Amazon coupon is not a sav ijngs for this game it's a savings overall - you could use it for anything on Amazon or like myself have alrady used it.

It shouldn't be factored into the savings comparison

        • You're wrong. It was $5 for specific game preorders.

    • The expectation was for 50 dollars for a new release game delivered on release day, so you can appreciate the backlash.

      • -2

I got it for the 50 dollars cancelling my Amazon order and fully expected it to not arrive on release.

13 bucks for 3 days well worth the savings.
This is OzBargain right? Where people order two soft serves in a cup and toppings separately to save money on a make your own mcflurry

        Saving 13-18 bucks. It's a fantastic deal

        • I wanted to go into this game ahead of all the chatter, and even had a free weekend set aside. I would have gladly spent $15 to get this game ON TIME as I'm quite time poor, and normally have to ration my gaming. If they coughed up for the express shipping as they should have, or mailed it earlier like every other retailer, this wouldn't have happened. Or if they'd been honest upfront, I would have made an educated decision to stick with Amazon.

This is OzBargain right? Where people order two soft serves in a cup and toppings separately to save money on a make your own mcflurry

A generalisation. Not everyone here is here to save nickels. A saving is a saving, but I'm not inconveniencing myself for $4/day.

  • -2

Just out of curiosity - when you placed this order was there a promise that it would arrive by 19/6 - or did people just assumed it would?

Was gamesmen upfront in their listing that ETA would be some time next week depending on location

Or did they mislead by promising to deliver on release date?

If they made no promise and people just assumed it would be delivered on release day - then I’m not sure if is worthy of a negative feedback.

If they were upfront that you may have to wait up to a week - then that’s fair enough - people can decide if a $20 saving is worth the compromise of waiting up to a week or not.

    • +4

The main issue is that it was supposed to be free express shipping. The express shipping showed as $7 at checkout. I think most people assumed the free standard shipping would be upgraded to express. It turns out that they stuffed up and the item wasn't listed as eBay Plus so the free express shipping didn't apply. I think those that chose express and paid the $7 got it yesterday.

It's not like you had time to think about any of this as it was all about rushing through checkout before the deal sold out. It was gone in 60 seconds

      • +4

I paid for express and didn't get it yesterday. They shipped them out at 5pm Thursday (at least that's when Australia Post accepted them) which is after the 4pm cutoff listed at https://auspost.com.au/about-us/news-media/important-updates…

I don't know how it works if Australia Post pick the items up direct from gamesmen, so may not be accurate.

Either way their listing said 1-2 days before release. As far as I know, most other retailers shipped out 2 days before. Gamesmen did not.

I think the expectation of preordering a game is that you get it on release day, at least that's what I think, otherwise there's honestly no point in preordering.

eBay show you the listing as you bought it, so as seen below, to me, looking at that, I'd be thinking that I'd receive it on release day. No mention of requiring express post to get it on that date they mention in their listing. I mean technically they're not guaranteeing it will arrive on their listing, so they could argue that, but still, sour taste in my mouth for Gamesmen and in part eBay for how this was all handled.

        https://imgur.com/qepOdwY

        • +2

And it's worth noting that shipping the item "1-2 days before release" is very different from Australia Post only receiving the shipping information 6 hours before release day.

IMO, if the listing says an item will ship 1-2 days before release that means shipping should occur minimum 24-48 hours before release, not literally in the evening on the day before. They might as well have shoved it in the postbox at 11.59pm Thursday, if that's their definition of "1-2 days before release."

      • I see.

But before the promotion started - was it advertised as ebay plus with free express shipping?

And then once the promotion started they changed their listing to non eBay plus and $7 express shipping?

So that’s the part where people were misled then?

        • No express was $7 on checkout. All of eBay's advertising, big banners around the site for the promotion and terms and conditions state free express shipping on all these plus month deals. But as mentioned, when everyone is rushing to checkout within 2 minutes, it's easy to miss on the checkout page that it in deed wasn't as advertised all around the site.

          • +1

@rldowling03: I wonder then - when the advertising says “free express shipping” are ebay the ones who are footing the bill for the express cost - since it is an ebay promotion.

Or is there an agreement between ebay and gamesmen for example:

Ebay: does the leg work in promoting and advertising the item
Gamesmen: foots the bill for free express shipping

            • +4

@proudwanderer: The eBay blames gamesmen for not listing it that way, and gamesmen blames eBay because it's their policies that prevent items not shipping out within 2 days from having free express shipping.

Someone in this thread called gamesmen and was told they're going to relabel everything as express, but then they backtracked and said no.

Ultimately it's eBay's fault that express wasn't provided as it's their policy that prevented it. You can get a $7 voucher from eBay as others in this post have done so, but it's like squeezing lemon from a rock.

All in all, most people probably happy to wait for the game or got it. Those who didn't, like me, and wanted it on time just went and got it elsewhere and will return this one. So only thing lost is some time and $20. Likely will cost gamesmen some customers and trouble of restocking a bunch of returns and eBay some plus memberships.

  • +10

Contacted eBay support and spoke to a rep called Minah. They created a report for the seller to be investigated since what they are doing is not what is stated on their listing. Hopefully it ends up leading somewhere.

    • +2

Good on you mate. Did you choose express shipping? I didn't choose it because I thought it was redundant as when I order from Amazon for pre-orders, their free shipping options are really quick and always arrive early or on time. I might contact eBay and see what they have to say.

Also I tried to get a copy for a mate and mucked about for a bit not realising the code could only be used once; definitely didn't want to waste more time changing shipping options. I clicked at 10am on the dot but I think I just narrowly made it within the 2 minute mark.

      • I chose free delivery since it was meant to be upgraded to express for free. Still waiting on it :'(

    • I also contacted eBay support. They told need they will investigate the seller. At first they wouldn't admit the seller did anything wrong but I pushed.

      • +1

But from what I’ve read - it seems more that ebay is at fault rather than the seller.

How to leave negative feedback for eBay?

  • Is everyone providing negative feedback? Yet to see any influx of negative feedback on their profile though.

    • +4

You have to wait 7 days to leave neutral/negative feedback and the feedback will be removed if it pertains to slow delivery as the delivery time is within estimates, or even references to eBay Plus have been removed prior. Something more suitable might be 'Not as described/disappointing experience'.

    • Most definitely and I will vote with my wallet. Last time I buy anything from Gamesmen.

  • +1

Got a text saying item coming today

    • 50/50 it's is. Only if the tracking says 'On board with driver' will you get it

      • +1

Mine is onboard :). I confirmed via text i will be home today.

I will report back when i get it.

        • Mine arrived this morning.

          • +1

            @Mintchip: Got mine earlier :)

It came with the preorder DLC code.

Time to thrash out the game tonight =)

      • Mine is onboard as well.

    • Melb?

    • +1

      Just received mine, Sydney

      • Mine came this arvo

  • +1

I've started a return process to return this to Gamesmen unopened and return postage is not free when I used their online return application.

I had to contact live chat to get them to make the return label for me. Odd process, requiring a manual chat to get it resolved. So just a heads up to anyone who is looking to return this.

    • +1

Probably because gamesmen has made it a "non ebay plus" item.

Free return shipping is only for "ebay plus" items I believe.

    • I just got my copy in the mail and started a return, they sent a generic reply stating they are very busy with inquiries (hopefully lots of people returning this to them) and to wait for their reply.

  • Mine arrived today to Melb with standard shipping.

    • Damn.. mine's not looking likely to arrive by today. Says it's only been processed in melbourne.

      • +1

        Mine arrived this morning (Melb).

There may be hope. Prior to the ~11 am arrival, the previous update was a processing in Melbourne from 1:30am Saturday.

        • No luck. Guess it’s another day of waiting.

Hope you all are enjoying the game tho!

  • +1

I am on the Sunshine Coast and my copy is still showing as in Sydney… I suspect in reality it is probably in transit somewhere as that was as of Friday but as the regular post has already been today I am doubtful I will get it in the afternoon parcel post given there is no update as yet. Oh well… what's another 24 hours I guess…

  • Ebay won't waive the postage charge to return this item, i spoke with a rep on web chat and they said because it was not an ebay plus item during the sale i still have to pay shipping. i told them i would cancel my membership and they basically said too bad so sad and gave me a link to cancel it. I guess i will have to return it to JB where i bought the other copy, not what i wanted to do but my principles are ok with being down $20 not $69. I will still give them negative feedback.

    • But the 30 day sale only relates to ebay plus items!! Do they not see the inconsistency!

      • 05:24:24 UTC Ronna Mae Amor
Yes, there are items in eBay Plus deal days that were not an eBay Plus item.

That's what the rep said to me, i couldn't believe it.

        • I had the same problem the other day, I got the rep to match the transaction ID (or whatever they use) with the 'past deals' on the Ebay plus page (where it lists all the daily deals that have been sold out) before they decided that it was in fact, an Ebay plus item.

  • I received a shipping notification that my copy is out for delivery today after notification silence since Saturday that it had arrived in Melb. Let's hope they actually come to the door and don't just put a "sorry you weren't home" slip in my mailbox

  • This is not relevant to this topic and not one to complain. I just received my delivery today of Assetto Corsa Competizione PS4 from the mail via Express Post from The Gamesmen. On upon me opening the package, the game was not sealed. I know the item specifics say

"Brand new: An item that has never been opened or removed from the manufacturer’s sealing (if applicable). Item is in original shrink wrap (if applicable)."

I want to know if anyone had gotten from the seller "Not Sealed Copy" of there game and any advice you would suggest if I should return the game or not for a new sealed one? $41 is still cheap though. Thanks.

    • -1

Looks like your game is not new and sealed, probably a customer exchange.

    • Just have a look at the disc and if there's no scratches I don't see how it would be any different to a sealed copy over you've opened it.

    • I messaged The Gamesmen and they told me this,

"Thank you for reaching out to us.

The Australian distributor of this game were required to open all copies of this game that were imported from overseas, in order to put the Mount Panorama Aussie DLC inside the box.

We agree this is not the most ideal situation, as the game no longer has the same brand new feel without the shrink wrap seal, but we can guarantee you it is completely brand new.

Sorry for any confusion caused and we hope you enjoy the game"!

      Regards,

      The Gamesmen

      • That's so silly. They wasted all that effort to put the DLC inside the box? Why not just stick the DLC onto the factory sealed game.

      • Mine arrived sealed pretty odd!

  • +7

    Finally delivered in Brisbane.

Thought the Gamesmen "We Now Offer Same Day Delivery" leaflet they threw in was a bit on the nose.

    • Did you get standard or express shipping?

      • Just the standard shipping that was preselected. No time to investigate and swap when placing the order. 🙂

    • haha, I thought the same :)

  • +4

I finally got a return label from ebay chat. For those who are having trouble i messaged gamesmen saying that i was being charged postage to return the item, they replied saying it is an ebay plus item and i should get free return postage. I was then able to point to that message so that the ebay chat representative sided with me and made a label for me. The whole thing took a few hours and a lot of arguing but finally the third ebay rep i talked to was more reasonable.

    • +1

I had the exact same experience with the eBay agents on the chat - at first they go with the standard line of 'free postage not being covered for this because it's not eBay Plus item'. But I had previously message Gamesmen about it and they confirm I am entitle to a free return and I just used that as proof and I've finally managed to convince them to print me the label.

You just need to be polite and persistent with them.

  • +2

I ended up selling my copy on Facebook Marketplace. It sold within a few hours for $70 - I was curious how quick it would sell before returning it to TGM. Might be a better option for some and less effort. I noticed JB selling it for $79 now.

    Good luck guys.

  • +2

Nice to get the pre-order DLC bonus. Didn't even know there was one.

  • Mine arrived today (Brisbane) I have received two pre-order DLC Codes, am I only suppose to receive the one?

  • Did anyone get their negative vote removed? Mine was removed even though I did not mention anything about it not arriving on time, just a general comment about it being a disappointing experience.

    • My friend negged them and his is still up as of now

    • Yes my was removed. All I wrote was "not happy".

      • I noticed most if not all of their negative votes have been removed. That's so dodgy of ebay to allow them to remove those negative votes.

      • Yep, mine removed too. Still neg on google though

  • Still haven't received my copy… :/

    • So many used copies on Gumtree where sellers accept $30-$40.

  • How do you us the pre-order bonus. I can't find the toggle to : "Apply Preorder Bonus".

    Ideas?

    • Maybe silly question, but did you redeem the code that was supplied on the pamphlet?

      • +1

Yep I redeemed it fine. Now just trying to use it. Looks like you have to start a new game.

  • Try to follow these instructions:
