  • Likely be a limited amount though?? Can't see Amazon price matching as it'd mean under their terms they'd have to give the lower price to all earlier pre-orders also

  • It'll sell out within minutes for sure just like the Animal Crossing ebay deal

  • Will this be limited to a stupidly-low number of copies?

  • +2

Booooo Cmon Amazon prime match it damn you! Lol

    • This! Exactly what I was thinking.

  • In regards to the upcoming eBay plus sale, is it one item per person?

    • It generally has been for $49 launch games

      • What games have launched for $49?

        • Doom Eternal. And something else a while back which I cannot remember now…

    • +2

I would hope so, to make it fair for everyone.

      • +1

Yeah I agree. Otherwise you'll get scalpers buying like 20 copies. Just look at all those Nintendo Switch scalpers trying to profit from a pandemic and people just trying to get something fun for their families during lockdown.

  • -3

$49 for a new release hugely anticipated sequel? It really must be bad.

    • +8

Or it's a loss leader by Ebay because it is a hotly anticipated game designed to get people to sign up for paid subs to a subpar service.

    • +4

They had Animal Crossing at $49 too.

      Did you find it bad??

    • You can't judge games based on their price alone otherwise we wouldn't need to read reviews

    • +1

Doom Eternal… Animal Crossing.. both launched as an eBay Plus deal.
      Nice try…

      • The new Modern Warfare was also one of these deals too, and that games has been well worth $49.

  • -3

Wouldn't you wait until they do a remaster on the ps5 or smth?

    • +4

      or smth?

Remaster? PS5? Why when there will be a remake down the line and a newer PlayStation.

Besides you play it, finish it and resell it. You won't lose money on reselling it, in fact the opposite, at a profit

      • +1

Doesn't make much sense to have a remaster when PS5 will be backwards compatible with PS4 games.

  • Should I cancel my order from Amazon and wait for this? Not sure how many copies eBay Plus would have and afraid this will sell out quick. I paid $58 on Amazon.

    • How did you pay $58 on Amazon?

    • +3

I wouldn't cancel before buying it on eBay. If you win the competition then you can cancel on Amazon.

My concern is whether it will arrive on or prior to launch day.

    • +1

Hoping Amazon will price match it.

    • +2

Don’t do it, this will sold out within seconds.
I ordered Doom Eternal for PS4 last time eBay had it for $49, arrived one day before launch, I live in Sydney!

      • That's great it arrived 1 day prior, gives us some assurance. The issue though is unlike something being fulfilled by Amazon this one we don't know who is shipping it out. Worth a shot I guess

        • +2

Last gaming deals on eBay, the seller was the gamesmen and they been pretty spot on regarding delivery dates!!

But be quick, the deal usually starts a minute or so before the official sale time.
Animal Crossing had only 300 copies and Doom Eternal 600 copies each version last time.

    • Wait until you can secure a copy from eBay first. Alternatively, you can keep your Amazon copy and just sell it on launch day. Probably make a profit (BTW I'm not encouraging scalping but you could probably sell it at a reasonable price and you and the buyer could both benefit).

  • -1

Shouldn't this be under gaming than entertainment?

  • +12

Just chiming in to say be careful of buying the game if you are not aware of recent controversy of the game, to save yourself from possible frustrations. First game was epic but will not be buying this one after watching the leaks.

    • Best get a price match at a local EB Games as you can return it if you don't like it. Don't know if eBay offer this.

      • +1

You won't be able to price match this limited deal offer. Better to get it and resell soon after.

    • Without spoilers. Why??

      • +7

A certain segment of gamer refuse to play anything which features politics they don't agree with - especially when they feature "the gays".

      • +7

My reasons are based on the connection to the previous game not giving the storyline justice. For me not so much politics moreso because of the retcon.

      • The writers' plan is to have you go through a lengthy experience before reaching the first critical event. That will allow you to learn more about Ellie and Joel.

However, when someone told you what that first critical event is beforehand, it ruins the experience. Without the full context, some people feel that part of it directly or indirectly tries to push gender equality issue (and to them, it was overdone and ridiculous). The biggest gripe is that: can't the writers provide a bit of fan service, rather than being so cold blooded?

With the leak providing no context, that's the conclusion so far. Writers are cold blooded to allow that event to happen in that way.

    • +1

I must be the only one who hasn’t come across the leaks. Is it really that bad?

      • +9

Depends on if you think Andrew Bolt is a great journalist or not.

        • 😂😂😂

        • +5

Yep if you think "the project" is a great unbiased news source that has awesome takes, then you'll love it.

      • +3

Yep. One of the developers leaked the story (over a pay dispute) … just play the first one

  • Will be interesting to see how much stock they will have. Great deal if I can grab one!

  • Has ebay mentioned QTY On the AirPods yet this time?

  • So can I sign up for the ebay plus 30 day trial, buy the game, then cancel the subscription?

    • Yeah you could. Win/win.

      • +2

Sweet just signed up.great price with del. Happy to give this game a go. The first one was probably my most favorite game. Definelty not setting my hopes too high…😬

  • +8

I’m going to boycott this game because I stand against trans-fats.

    • +7

I cant remember writing this… drank too much last night…

  • anyone from Sydney with ebay plus and don’t want the game purchase one copy for me 😬

  • +1

Just read this interesting article about the toxic work culture and overtime that went into making this game: https://www.kotaku.com.au/2020/04/last-of-us-2-naughty-dog-c…

I want to play the game, but at the same time I don’t want to support the sad and terrible work conditions under which it was created.

    • +4

If you want to stand for what you believe in the easiest way to do that would be to wait a couple months and buy a 2nd hand copy.

The developer/publisher won't see a cent and you'll get it cheap af because primarily single player games like this are worth bugger all a few months after launch once a the majority have played them.

    • +2

Someone also mentioned this elsewhere but if you boycott the game, you'll also punish those that worked hard to get the game made which leads to less profits and perhaps a repeat of the cycle. Just food for thought.

      • Evidently it was leaked 'because' they didn't pay workers

        • That's not why it was leaked….

    • +4

This is an issue that a few people have with the game. However this is a toxic aspect of the gaming development industry. Most AAA studios foster bad working environments in need of unionisation.

    • Then make sure you never buy any game ever again. That's pretty much the industry standard.

    • +3

      Do you buy from Amazon??
If your answer is yes, congrats. You support a company that has sad and terrible working conditions and employees underpaid!

  • +16

Came to the comments to see if there was info on delivery speed but instead it's just a (profanity) cesspool of people arguing over 'politics in games' and some people complaining about 'toxic crunch culture'

Save that shit for Reddit or 4chan.

    • +10

It's ozb, we're tryna save your money so you don't later come join us on Reddit or 4chan.

  • Not worth it, you won't get this game on launch.

  • Remind me pls…

    • +1

      Click ‘Reminder’ under the deal

      • Thanks mate. Never noticed nor used that function before.

  • -8

So many edgelords who can’t stand progressivism

  • +1

    Thanks OP

  • +2

It’s probably not worth it since it’ll sell out like usual. Don’t want to waste time signing up for eBay plus for nothing again.

  • Not tryna scroll through comments again but can someone tell why (aside the story leak) is this not worth it? I get the crunch culture bit, but without spoiling, is it overly political and something that is not what we expected?

    • People only say not worth it due to story leak

It's not inherently bad just not what people want… Odds are still a good game I doubt they can mess it up that bad just based off how great the first was.

Definitely a bit plot point or two (that may or may not outrage you apparently)

    • Without trying to spoil it - there is a [transgender male to female] | [cross dressing millennial] who does something in the game to one of our favourite characters.

      [Delete depending on your politics]

    • The story is definitely not what we expected and has one of the worst endings i've ever heard in a story based video game but the gameplay might still make it worthwhile.

  • Fook me, this thread almost put me off the game. Probably a good thing as I'm still going to get it, but my expectations have dropped.

  • -2

Good deal but it's not like there won't be $49 copies around at the time of launch. I suppose if you want to lock yours in eBay has you covered

    • +1

There won't be any $49 copies are launch. When was the last time you heard a good AAA game release for that much on launch day? Even this deal is a limited time offer.

    • +2

Where else will sell AAA games at $49 on launch? Ebay do this as a loss leader to justify their terrible plus service. No retail is going to sell this at a loss.

  • -4

$69 at Aussie owned Big W and JB - walk in and get straight away.

  • I will buy this game 1 month after release so most of the early bugs, performance issues gets at least 1 patch update, by then it should hit eBay and Gumtree used for $40 anyway.

    • I highly doubt this. The second hand market would be $50 at least as most retailers would sell for $68 at the cheapest.

  • yeh im buying this from EB price matched to $69 …. I want it day 1 not day 10

  • +2

    SWEET HOLY JEBUS PPL!

"I'm gonna boycott the game because of poor working conditions"…

Shitty crunch exists in almost all game dev.work environments.

Why aren't you boycotting all the other games?

"I'm gonna boycott the game because it's got a shitty story".

Shit, just play the dam thing and THEN see if you like it or not! How can you know until you do?

Maybe the story/ending on paper sounds shit but in practice the experience of playing changes it and you may end up really enjoying it.

In other words "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts".

Naughty Dog doesn't owe you anything. first game was awesome! I'm looking forward to this one.

    • +2

The amount that got leaked was “substantial” and I think it’s enough to make a judgement. Mind you, even in the first TLOU, major story progressions were made during cut scenes.

I don’t care for the LGBT stuff but I simply don’t see how they can justify what they have done to the characters. I have cancelled the preorder but will be open to play it based on the reviews.

TLOU was a perfect game, almost like reading a good novel, and if the sequel will invalidate that, I will skip.

  • Isn’t in convenient that my plus membership runs out a month before this deal smh..

    • +1

If you try to cancel, sometimes eBay will try to give you incentives like $X off your membership or $X credit for plus purchases or something like that. Better to give that a try than let your membership expire. I did that before I think because someone posted it here on OzBargain.

Of course, only do this if you think it's worth it. Personally I don't think it's as good as Amazon Prime but I did save more money on stuff like postage than the overall cost of the membership so it works out for me. YMMV

  • +2

What time do these go live? I'm in Brisbane.

  • Really want this game, any tips of getting the deal?

  • +5

I think it will be this item for this sale. Price matches the article plus a previous sale was through the Gamesmen.

You might want to add it to your watch list.

    Assetto Corsa: Competizione

    • will add the item in the shopping cart prior help with getting the item ?

  • Who or what store is providing the pre-order? What quantities are they available? Must it be shipped only or is pickup available?

  • Does anyone know the time it starts? I can’t find it anywhere

  • If it ends up being with Gamesmen does anybody know if pick up is available or only delivery? Not sure what the case was with the Animal Crossing Ebay Plus deal.

  • Does anyone have a link to this deal for Last of us part 2?

    • +2

      Most likely this listing

      • Delivery 24 - 26 of June?

        • +1

          That's eBay's delivery estimate, not the seller's.

        • Game isn't out yet, Release Date - 19/06/20

        • +3

          Has this in the description:

          Pre-Order, Due Friday, 19th June 2020
Will post 1-2 business days before the release date

Would expect delivery on the Friday…

Otherwise if so keen, go pickup from EB Games and return within 7 days when your game arrives… That works too…
